Lovie Says Collins Will Play, Verner is Out
Saturday, November 15th, 2014Oh, no.
Joe’s going to have to make another beer run. (more…)
Oh, no.
Joe’s going to have to make another beer run. (more…)
Josh McCown did more than cry Sunday. Those tears, though, reminded Dashon Goldson of one of his weepy former teammates.
Outside of, you know, a good Buccaneers football game, what could be more fun than an edition of “Hawk Radio” after Josh McCown cried?
You just knew Dashon “Hawk” Goldson would have plenty to say. (more…)
Joe remembers how Bucs fans recoiled when former Bucs commander Greg Schiano recoiled when he heard someone mumble the phrase, “Make a play.”
Schiano would explain that often means a player is trying to do too much. In doing so, he strays from his responsibility and often leaves himself and his position vulnerable. (more…)
In these unsettled times of devastating Bucs losses, constant change and growing pains, Joe thought it would be wise to bring back THE OPTIMIST.
THE OPTIMIST is Nick Houllis, a Bucs fan and an accomplished writer whose steadfast allegiance to the Buccaneers goes back to the 1970s. Houllis is the founder, creator and guru of BucStop.com, a place Joe goes to get lost in time via Houllis’ stunning video collection.
THE OPTIMIST will shine that positive light in your eyes. Some will love it. Some won’t. … Of course, THE OPTIMIST’s opinions are his alone and are not influenced by Joe.
You asked for it, you got it. It’s the TV map for tomorrow’s game between the Bucs and the Redskins, live from FedEx Field in Virginia.
If you are a resident of Florida or the mid-Atlantic coastal region, there is a better than average chance you won’t have to run to a local bar or find someone with NFL Sunday Ticket to watch the game.
It’s been 20 days since Doug Martin was on the field, struggling for 27 yards on 10 carries against the Vikings.
Martin walked off with an ankle injury. His last 100-yard game was against New Orleans in September 2013. (more…)
Joe has often stated the absolute worst thing for any team, much less an NFL team, much less the Bucs is apathy.
Once apathy sets in among the fanbase, fans have checked out. And if things don’t turnaround quickly, many of those fans may be gone for good. (more…)
Before the season began, Joe thought the Bucs would be 7-9 largely because Joe was not sold on the offense, particularly the offensive line.
Joe was scolded by many for being so pessimistic about the new, overhauled frontline.
Joe never, ever dreamed the Bucs defense would be so rotten. Not with Lovie Smith as the head coach. (more…)
Crab-legs-stealing, BB-gun-shooting, obscenity-hollering, Heisman-Trophy-winning, national champion James Winston, the pride of Florida State University, continues to look like a much better quarterback prospect than Mike Glennon and Josh McCown.
It’s Joe’s regular nugget on the Jameis Watch, celebrating the best quarterback to wear No. 5 ever in the state of Florida. (more…)
You want to know why the Bucs offense has been, as Charles Barkley would say, “turrible” this year? Well, Mark Bullock of the Washington Post sums it up in two factors: inconsistent quarterback play and a struggling offensive line.
Bullock, an X’s and O’s guy who writes for the paper of record in our nation’s capital, goes into great detail (with photos) as to why the Tampa Bay offense is a mess, and why he expects the Redskins to expose the offensive line for what it is: subpar. (more…)
When you’re listed as “probable” on an official NFL Friday injury report, then that means you’re playing Sunday unless you get mixed up with dangerous women or have an accident.
Big money Bucs left tackle Anthony Collins, who missed the last two games, got that label today. (more…)
In four losses the season, the Bucs held leads in the fourth quarter. Problem was, the defense couldn’t make critical stops hacked up leads.
Few were more gut-wrenching than the losses against the Lambs and Vikings, both at home, when a never-been quarterback who was pulled off the street and a green rookie, respectively, led their teams on last-minute scoring drives. (more…)
There are Bucs fans frustrated enough to berate Gerald McCoy for his on-field play.
These angry types don’t like McCoy’s off-field chatter and let that cloud their judgment. (more…)
Harsh words were typed this morning about Bucs offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford, who left the team in September following heart problems in August. (more…)
A former Buccaneer takes a hard line with underperforming free agents Anthony Collins and Michael Johnson
A prominent former Buccaneer says Lovie Smith and Jason Licht need to “honest with themselves” when it comes to big-money free agents, especially left tackle Anthony Collins and defensive end Michael Johnson. (more…)
Joe’s been polling readers weekly asking to rate their confidence in Lovie Smith.
A funny thing happened after the loss to the Falcons on Sunday. (more…)
Each draft, folks wearing suits in Manhattan try to give each draft class a label of some sort. You know, “Year of the Quarterback” or “Draft Class of Linebackers.”
This past spring could have been the draft of the wide receiver. Many went early, more so than Joe can remember in recent history. Of course, the Bucs joined the fun by selecting Mike Evans. (more…)
From the time training camp started, if not before, Bucs coach Lovie Smith was like a preacher with a one-track sermon. He preached the word of takeaways.
It’s hard to argue. Teams with the most takeaways often are the better teams. It is simple math. (more…)

The Bucs are healthy and wealthy.
“Everyone was able to practice,” Lovie Smith said after today’s session under the Tampa sunshine. (more…)
When Joe last checked in with sleepy, leaky former Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman, the 26-year-old was dealing with an October foreclosure filing on his South Tampa house.
But now there’s some good Freeman news. (more…)
