Do intangibles equate to production? That is a question Joe is seriously pondering. (more…)

What’s left on the shelf?
In a draft loaded defensive linemen and edge rushers, the Bucs got creative and instead drafted an inside linebacker. (more…)
“Carl, this life is all about being in the right place at the right time, and making gobs of money for doing very little.”
Every year, the Buccaneers’ draft delivers angst or sheer joy to some players on the roster. (more…)
Yes, this morning you have a sore hand from all that high-fiving over the Buccaneers’ upgrading at inside linebacker last night. (more…)
Devin White, equestrian.
If you haven’t heard this before you will likely hear and read a lot of it in the future. (more…)
Class.
Is this the soon-to-be former leader of the Bucs defense coronating the new leader of the Bucs defense? (more…)
Among the thousands of daily readers here, less than 1 percent like to share a comment or two, or 10. So Joe is firing up a draft-day open thread so you folks have a place to collect your prognostications — and be praised or laughed at later.
Have fun. Play nice. It’s not that hard.
Of course it’s doubtful that Gerald McCoy finds himself on the Bucs’ opening day roster.
But it’s certainly less of a long shot than it was before Round 1 of the NFL Draft. (more…)
UPDATED 11:50 p.m. – Well, we’re halfway through the NFL Draft and two Bucs rivals have made intriguing selections. (more…)

Strictly an ILB.
It seemed from the way Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht spoke, he could have run his team’s draft from Hooters at Clearwater Beach. (more…)
No. Joe doesn’t like the Devin White pick at No. 5 overall.
Sure, he might be an excellent player, but he’s going to have to damn near be a superhero to be worth that pick on a team in need of defensive linemen. (more…)
LSU linebacker Devin White
The Bucs inexplicably decided to be only the third team in the past 26 years to draft an inside linebacker in the top-five.
This guy better be the second coming of Ray Lewis to pass up on Ed Oliver and Josh Allen.
New Bucs ILB.
In a passing league, the Bucs decided to hit the way-back button to the 1970s.
With stud pass rushers Ed Oliver and Josh Allen on the board, the Bucs chose inside linebacker Devin White.
Don’t ask Joe to logically explain this.
The LSU linebacker should start right away. In the proud Bucs tradition, they are allergic to pass rushers.
Curious prediction.
Many folks inside and outside of NFL circles believe the Bucs will soon part ways with stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.
The man who drafted GMC isn’t on board with this concept. (more…)
“I’m going to Vegas next year Ed and you will still have to deal with all of those m@#$%^&&cking know-it-alls in Tampa. Jiminy Christmas!”
Reading this will make any Bucs fan want to vomit all over his keyboard. (more…)
Doesn’t want the big fish.
Former Bucs guard and popular local radio personality Ian Beckles knows exactly what he would do tonight if he were Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. (more…)
Anyone want Notre Dame’s leading tackler on the Buccaneers’ roster?
Joe knows a guy who does, and he’s got all kinds of ties at One Buc Palace. (more…)

The fun part about the draft is speculation, drama, and hope all rolled into one. Combine all three in a handful of hours, and you have a full day (so long as it also includes Joe’s good friend Alcohol). (more…)
Smooth operator.
Joe has decided to document highlights of Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians captured when he coached Arizona during the inaugural season of “All or Nothing,” a “Hard Knocks”-like miniseries by NFL Films that follows a pro or college team throughout a season and is exclusive to Amazon Prime. Joe hopes these highlights will help Bucs fans learn what to expect from the 12th coach in franchise history. This series of posts will appear periodically until the days leading up to the draft later this month.
Bruce Arians can cuss with the best of them. But one reason players seem to bond with him is deep down, he cares for them. (more…)
Yeah, tonight’s the big first round of the NFL Draft, but Joe’s not expecting fireworks.
Barring a special trade offer, the Bucs will sit tight and, hopefully, do the smart thing and draft a defensive lineman.
Joe’s already more focused on Round 2. (more…)
