Devin White Highlights

April 25th, 2019

LSU linebacker Devin White

The Bucs inexplicably decided to be only the third team in the past 26 years to draft an inside linebacker in the top-five.

This guy better be the second coming of Ray Lewis to pass up on Ed Oliver and Josh Allen.

Oh Boy. This Joe has alot of processing to do.

    I love it!

    In BA I Trust!!!!

  2. Buc1987 Says:

I thought for sure the pick was going to be Josh Allen.

  3. Chris Cotten Says:

Great pick I think, #55 redo, but a little quicker

  4. fail Says:

Awful pick! Choosing this bum over Josh Allen! Dark times ahead. I no longer have any faith in this organization!

  5. Buc4life7878 Says:

Love it! Bowles loves fast linebackers. This was for Todd. Go Bucs

  6. fail Says:

    Fire BA now!

  7. fail Says:

    And Licht!

  8. K_bassuka Says:

👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 he better turn out to be the greatest MLB in the history of the NFL getting picked that high.

  9. Joe in Michigan Says:

I like his 4.42 speed blitzing up the middle, so he is a pass rusher to me. Can cover the RB’s in pass coverage. Most importantly, he reminds me somewhat of Hardy Nickerson, hard nosed, no nonsense player. That’s exactly what we need.

  10. SteveK Says:

    Ed Oliver was the pick.

    Damn it Bucs.

Last place in the NFCS is painful.

This feels like righting a wrong from Dom passing on Kechly-twice- in favor for Barron.

If only we had a GM who knew what the hell they were doing.

    All faith lost.

    #I’mWithLee!

  11. K_bassuka Says:

    D@mn Jacksonville did it again.

  12. Crack3rK Says:

    Say it isn’t so, Joe!!!!?????

  13. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Hey!!! Without a pass rush you need good linebackers…

  14. Wombat Says:

Like it, makes total sense. Noah has to be the man at DE and be the guy we drafted

  15. Buccernutter Says:

    You’re ridiculous Joe.

    But I respect your passion.

    Please welcome to Tampa….

    THE TASMANIAN DEVIL!!!

  16. Greg Says:

Love this pick! The Joes can whinge all they want over picking a LB over a pass rusher. But if this guy winds up being another K Mack then this was a perfect pick. Period.

  17. Done Says:

i havent seen him make a single play in this clip i have only seen total break downs on the other side of the ball you could put any one in this spot on that defense in these plays he will be average at best but my guess is total bust future back up on another team doesnt even make his 5th year contract

  18. ManzielMadness Says:

Welp, I was wrong. Welcome White, I hope you turn out to be the gamechanger we need.

  19. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

    Jags have excellent defensive talent!

  20. Rossta 61 Says:

Can’t believe it Josh Allen right there for the taken I’ve seen this movie to Unbelievable

  21. bucsince79 Says:

Chill Joe’s, this beast can rush the passer with the best of em!!!!

  22. SteveK Says:

I just don’t understand why you’d pass on Ed Oliver?

6’2 285- 4.7 speed, and he’s got an edge and reminds me a little of Sapp. We could have used a disruptive- mean-freak of nature on our D Line.

  23. Darin Says:

You guys all heard it too. Allen dropped into coverage just under half his snaps and still had 17 sacks. I guess Bowles wants a backer to “try” to cover Kamara and Mc outa the backfield. Good luck. I feel your pain Joe. Lets see how the rest shakes out.

  24. Ed Kerber Says:

I was watching the draft with my Dog. The Dog let me know that he had to poop in the yard while the pick was being decided. I begged him to let me watch the pick. Apparently Jason Licht pooped in the yard before my dog did.

  25. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Joe needs therapy……perhaps medication…..restraints……prayers.

This will turn out to be a fantastic pick…..

  26. TampaDave Says:

Lee, be a man of your word. You were annoyingly clear on what you would do if the Bucs drafted an inside LB at 5…

  27. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete (formerly known as 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs Fans) Says:

    YES!!!

  28. Diesel Says:

Welcome to Tampa Bay Devin!!! Let’s get this work big dawg!

  29. SteveK Says:

    Ed Keeber,

Give that dog a steak! Damn right dudeB

  30. Anonymous Says:

I remember a certain web site very upset the Bucs didn’t draft Johnny Football.

  31. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Licht better trade this years 2 and next years 1 and get Oliver…I am desperate for a quality pass rush

  32. TB559920 Says:

No risk it no biscuit. Can’t believe with Allen and Oliver still on the board we go ILB. Light has hit before in later rounds with linebackers , this young man is going to be under a lot of pressure in this town hope we turn that into a diamond. Either way I’m just a fan so Welcome to the Freaking Family Me White. Bucs Fan for Life

  33. Dom>Licht Says:

So arguably the best pass rusher in the draft is available to the team that has the worst pass rush in the NFL …. and we pass on him. Unless this Guy is the next Ray Lewis we just blew it again.

  34. SteveK Says:

Devin is a tremendous prospect in his own right

Ed Oliver was the damn pick.

  35. AceOfAerospace Says:

I remember a certain website very upset the Bucs didn’t draft Johnny Football.

  36. Chris K Says:

    Beast!

  37. Tnoles Says:

O like it hopefully it’s our Luke muscly for years to come, Lavonte David isn’t getting any younger either so unfortunately/fortunately you fill a need position at a position that normally isn’t picked as high but if best player available meets position of fire need then do it. If d line is so deep in the draft the thought obviously means they can get one in later rounds and maybe they decide to keep GMC and give him one more year to mentor a rookie.

  38. Clw JB Says:

Hope we go Lindstrom next – nice start, Pro Bowl LB to pair with LVD inside – that is some awesome speed to attack with

  39. Rod Munch Says:

Defensive lineman the Bucs have picked in the top 5…

McCoy, Gaines Adams, Keith McCants, Selmon…

So 50/50 on if they’re any good or not, and the dopes on this board actually think McCoy has been a bust so by that standard it means they have a 75% chance of blowing the pick….

Taking the guy who everyone says is a stud, will start from day one, should be a pro-bowler right away, that seems like as good of a pick as any.

You know unless you think Keith McCants over Seau was still the right thing to do because of, you know, “value”…

  40. Tbbucs3 Says:

Look at it this way…..Devin White just became our best player in pass coverage. 4.4 speed and can stop the run. No problem with it especially if Bowels was on board.

  41. ATrain Says:

    I thought Oliver

    Maybe the ATrain is wrong

    Welcome Mr White

    I do like the 4.4 40

  42. Buc68 Says:

Devin will be a good player, but don’t take a inside LB at 5 in the NFC South. You play two dome teams that air it out and we have a weak DL and Secondary. Terrible pick.

  43. ModHairKen Says:

This means Beckwith is done. That’s too bad. Well, is White better than Kwon?

Does this mean Noah Spence is going to play this year?

  44. Anonymous Says:

we passed on JOSH ALLEN!!! WTF is wrong with our dumb F%$#in GM??? What happen to building the defense through the trenches. that was the whole reason we drafted Vita!!!!! why would you not draft an edge rusher to pair with him??? THE MOST IMPORTANT DEFENSIVE POSITION IS EDGE RUSHER! And we passed on the best edge rusher in the draft

  45. Architek79 Says:

    Love it!!!!

  46. DR FEELGOOD Says:

Anyone that thinks this stallion isn’t the perfect rank meets need just isn’t paying attention. Sorry Joe, but to ignore the special talent that just made it possible to stop the run, hit the sidelines with speed, and rush the passer is just being blind. Would you take Kuekly, Lewis, or Willis at 5? OF COURSE YOU WOULD! In a draft deep at DL, take the LB stallion and go DL later. I would love to know what you said when we took Derrick Brooks. Go Bucs!

  47. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete (formerly known as 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs Fans) Says:

I’M JUST GLAD THAT BA/BOWLES ARE MAKING THE DECISIONS INSTEAD OF MOST OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE! INCLUDING THE JOES!

  48. Rod Munch Says:

    Eric Curry over Hardy Nickerson!

    #VALUE!

  49. K_bassuka Says:

    Licht makes me sick.

  50. Lubby Smith Says:

Because the Bucs were just a good middle linebacker away from being a great defensive unit last year, right?

  51. tnew Says:

Everyone who is proclaiming we are weak in rushing the passer, you do realize, the Bucs led the NFL last season in pressuring the QB on a percentage of drop backs.

  52. Anonymous Says:

C’mon, Joe! You may not agree with the pick, bit welcome the kid to Tampa. He’s the man in the middle now, and he’s big, fast, and mean. Let’s get him in here and get to work!!!!

  53. Bird Says:

Let’s see if joes give white a bad nickname and act tough on this site about him

So white can chew him up and dump him right out

  54. Dom>Licht Says:

Drafting White for his pass coverage Skills is as Dumb as drafting Mark Barron to cover tight ends…. when third string quarterback‘s look like all pros against us again due to no pass rush let’s just hope our fifth round pick has the running back coverrd.

  55. Bird Says:

Dude will win rookie of year.

He will be leader of defense as a rookie. Just watch.

  56. Bird Says:

I would take Lewis , Willis and Keukly at 1

  57. Dom>Licht Says:

He better be that good Or he’s a wasted pick

  58. Dirty Bucs Says:

Look, it’s draft night guys. Stop complaining, and put on your FAN cap. We’re all fans. No matter what YOU think, YOU don’t know what the Bucs know and aren’t paid to evaluate talent and coach a team for a living. If any of you are making millions to coach or evaluate football players, then speak up. if you aren’t, then look at the highlights and smile. Think about the great player we just drafted, imagine him being a Buc for life, and root for the team to be better.

  59. Buchead407 Says:

Should have resigned Kwon and drafted Ed Oliver or josh Allen. I’m with joe on this one Better be a superstar quick to be worth #5

  60. Old Sombrero Says:

Seriously how can anyone think this is a bad pick? Dude’s a stud.

  61. stpetebucsfan Says:

Being 5% faster in the 40 is significant in a league as evenly matched as the NFL. All the video I saw of Allen was him taking a straight line around the edge to the QB…many times he was able to simply fake out the OT…that WON’T happen much in the NFL.

White OTOH played sideline to sideline on his video highlights…not Allen. White covers far more field than Allen.

AGAIN a 5% edge in 40 time is not insignificant!!!

  62. Dom>Licht Says:

Been wearing a fan cap for 40 years… have been laughed at for 35 out of 40 so I’m sorry if I’m not All on board with what everything this franchise has done. History shows they are wrong 95% of the time. Will not post or complain anymore after 40 years it’s basically a waste of time. Hopefully BA Knows what he’s doing

  63. DR FEELGOOD Says:

Cry me a river pessimists. Devin White is the real deal. Be blessed not pissed! He is a “generational” talent. He will thump the crap out of our division opponents for years to come. Go Bucs!!

  64. Bird Says:

Should have signed average player Kwon for 13 mil a year?

    Cmon now

  65. Tony LA Says:

    Smart pick!

DE’s bust all the time. Especially for the Bucs. This guy is legit. His floor is an 8-year starter. That’s exactly the type of player the Bucs need. The defensive line is deeeeeeeeep. They will be able to supplement the line in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.

  66. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I don’t often agree with Munch, but he’s right on this one. Having Lavonte and White at the 2nd level is gonna be special. McCoy gotta go. We still need a DE, RB and OG in the next 3 rounds.

  67. Anonymous Says:

BA plans on “reloading”. This pick simply means he and Bowles think they can get far more out of the guys we have on the roster than we’ve seen thus far. Give them a chance to show us before crapping on their decisions. I get it. I’m a jaded Buc fan just like you, but I understand why they took White. We lost Kwon and Beck but have guys in the trenches that they feel can raise their level. White is plug and play day one. Let’s give them a chance and don’t make this about your ego.

  68. Bucsdelight Says:

Just look at his “highlights”, that arm tackling isn’t going to work in the NFL. He had better learn to lower that shoulder and drive into someone. Just trying to whip someone isn’t going to work at this level.

  69. ATLBucs Says:

Other than selmon, DE’s just don’t usually perform when they come to Tampa. Anyway, White can provide a pass rush

  70. '79 Defense Says:

Love the pick. Hate the music. Why do people think it’s necessary in these highlights?

  71. Nate Says:

you never choose need over talent never ever!

  72. Dirks Great Granpappy Says:

Nate you get need and talent

  73. Oneilbucs Says:

It really doesn’t matter who we get . The question is how fast or how will he develop. Will he get a second contract or will we let him go just like we let Kwon go that’s the real question we should be asking with this team.

  74. ancientasbuc Says:

Best player available! About time, the team adheres to that again. It is always fun to go back in three years and see what happened.

  75. JOSH Says:

I love that when he tackles he forces them backwards….unlike most of our LBs always falling towards the first down line…
