In a passing league, the Bucs decided to hit the way-back button to the 1970s.
With stud pass rushers Ed Oliver and Josh Allen on the board, the Bucs chose inside linebacker Devin White.
Don’t ask Joe to logically explain this.
The LSU linebacker should start right away. In the proud Bucs tradition, they are allergic to pass rushers.

In 1990 Junior Seau was a RILB, the Bucs skipped on him at #4 and instead took Keith McCants… Seau went #5.
The Bucs skipped on the guy everyone said was a stud to draft for “value” I guess.

Arians said “ you don’t draft for need you draft best available or get fired”. Prepare to get fired then because you passed on the best Edge player in the draft and the 2nd best interior lineman for a LB that will have the same problems as his predecessor. I can’t believe they burned a 5th pick on this guy. Best LB in draft sure but in the weakest LB draft I have seen in a long while. Speed counts for nothing when you don’t have the awareness and metal prowess required for a top Mike LB.

Said long ago.. Josh Allen was not a guaranteed top 5 pick. Giants traded JPP and got shedded Olivier Vernon and still passes on Josh Allen. So stop with the we passed on a DE.

Was reading Bowles likes to blitz the A gap. Between he and Lavonte, that could keep qbs guessing. Also could help stop Kamara and McCaffrey. Wasn’t really confident in the rest op the options, and it’s too early for a lineman that will take time. Trying to keep optimistic

Man this just stings Oliver and Allen were there for us and we take a midddle linebacker. Why didn’t white pull a hammy before his forty. He was a top 15 pick before he ran a 4.4. I’m pissed and over it. This will backfire for sure. Oliver will be the next Donald. And Allen will ha e 13 sacks this year. And are pick will be ok but here we go again next year is when he will put it all together. Middle linebacker is a hard position to master. In his second year in this defense he will master it and be a stud. And 4 years later the 49rs will sign him to a big contract and we will have nothing. Josh Allen to Jacksonville unbelievable. I hate Licht he is the demise of this team.

You should hv easily gotten a third and still got White that’s the problem, stop it with the Giants didn’t offer crap before it starts , The Bucs have a GM that has no , Notta, none , blank savyness !!! To the Glazers GM is not a scout it’s a a slick ass football guy that also is a slick ass business man and a slick ass poker player and Licht is only 1 of those three and that is why he never ever never gets above mean value on the situation. Pick a pick , pick a free agent and I assure you he gets above mean value less than 30 percent of the time and on top of it he is in Cap Hell with that percentage rate . Some one get him a covered wagon so he can sell clear healing syrup to the Glazers . I knew this clown would hv can’t fail value in his lap and yet he would fail . So pissed and I was so excited about tonight. This guy is going to be a man the Bucs could have drafted this guy instead for the rest of his career. Like how you guys say he has the least bust potential the safest pick. Don’t you think every fan said that about every pick before they became a bust. There is no such thing as a sure pick. If you are going to take a chance take a chance at the most important position on defense. I would have rather us drafted a quarterback and hope we got Tom Brady than a middle linebacker. I hope for everothat I am wrong and he is an all pro rookie. But I don’t see it

I’ve seen just a few highlights of White and I saw him making unreal plays…….White playing in Bowles defense could be an All Time great move. The cieling with this guy us limitless. I hope White is the hardest worker this town has ever seen and shows us all how great the results can be.

Love this pick! All 3 other teams have stud pass catching RV’s and good slot receivers.you can’t pass on a player like white , who can neutralize these weapons

And so perhaps Joe can act as our bookie. I want to know the over/under on how many more sacks and QB hits Allen gets than White. It’s not like LB’s can rush the QB. So I’d like to see what kind of number those Allen diehards will give us.
Given the reaction if Allen doesn’t at least DOUBLE the number of QB hits and sacks of White then something is very wrong.

Looks a little like Ray Lewis, a horseman, those legs are strong, dude will be a player, you can see it in his eyes, he’s tough. Booger McFarland isn’t one to heap praise like he did on White saying the “Bucs have never had a linebacker that hits like White”. His physical presence will add a toughness this defense has lacked for years.

Awful pick. Allen and Oliver were on the board. What all you guys commenting about White’s speed, athleticism, etc. don’t realize is that the guy is not a very good player. Stop watching the highlights, watch the full tape on him in a game. The guy can’t get off blocks, and doesn’t attack lineman or close gaps in the run game. He’s a liability on run defense. He has lots of tackles right? Well what’s the point when the RB has already gained 12 yards? Also, he’s a poor tackler. Tackles high, and arm tackles. Mccaffrey and Kamara will run circles around him. But hey, he’s fast and has good measurables, we like that right? Lol at pick 5, this is an AWFUL decision. Guy won’t even be on the team in 3 years.

The Raiders passed on Allen before us for another D end so I guess they didn’t think Allen was the best edge rusher. Pitt moved up in the first round for an ILB so I guess they do have some importance. We got the best to come out in some time in White plus the leader we lack, be happy.

Dude was a solid SAFE pick. Whether you admit or not, the learning curve is much shorter at this position. White is an INSTANT starter, plug and play. We needed help in the middle and we got it.

Again and again, its been written that Dlineman don’t make an impact as rookies. There is no doubt that White can make an impact faster than a DE can. Allen and Oliver will be very good players but its a different position which is more difficult to learn. The big bodied offensive linemen in the league know a thing or two about blocking the speedy guys which college edge rushers need to learn and get stronger.
White is already as strong a linebacker as an NFL linebacker with tackling ability that is better than anyone the Bucs have had since Derrick Brooks.
I believe missed tackles and softness were so apparent in the Bucs defense. Putting White back there will change this defense for the better. Look at what the All-Pro Panther linebacker did when he came into the league. Top rated and he showed his ability right away.
Bucs don’t have time to develop a young pass rusher that will take 2 years to be dominant. White is 2 years ahead of any D lineman in the draft other than Williams.
