Panthers, Falcons Load Up At Bucs’ Positions Of Need

UPDATED 11:50 p.m. – Well, we’re halfway through the NFL Draft and two Bucs rivals have made intriguing selections.
Some think Florida State Brian Burns was one of the best pass rushers in this draft, a classic 4-3 edge guy, and Ron Rivera seems to agree. Burns is a Panther, selected No. 16 overall, and will be tasked with terrorizing Donovan Smith over the next several years, and to try to fill the big shoes of Julius Peppers.
Over in Atlanta, the Falcons jumped way out of the box and took a guard at No. 14 overall, plug-and-play tough guy Chris Lindstrom out of Boston College.
Hey, those are two positions of need for the Bucs!
It’s interesting the Falcons already signed two starting guards in free agency, and paid them starter-caliber cash. Joe assumes one of them might be traded.
The Falcons later traded up to grab the Rams’ No. 31 overall pick and snag OT Kaleb McGary, the big right tackle out of the University of Washington.

On the positive… The NFL is throwing shorter passes, screens, slants ect. How many times are we giving up plays over the middle. There has been NO linebacker presents on this team since Quarles and Brooks. Why dont people wait and see?

And, he can cover Christian Mccaffrey……4.48
DEVIN WHITE IS FASTER THAN ALL OF OUR CBs & Safties.

That’s why those three teams are constantly fighting for the top spot in the nfc south. If the qb is the most important position on the field, then get guys who can make the qb uncomfortable. I didn’t just make that up. I’m pretty sure that’s a well known fact. Oh well. I DO hope this ILB works out.

It’s easy Joe. The Entire NFC South has schooled the Yuks in the draft over the last 5 years. Brian Burns fantastic pick. And the Falcons shoring up their OLine is a smart play. Protect Mart Ryan and this division is easy pickings. Bucs 2nd pick better be a home run. Gotta protect Jameis and 3 of 5 on the line is not enough.

You guys are super happy we drafted a middle linebacker 5th overall in a hisogreat defensive lineman draft. Year again we outsmart are selves and overthink it. But but but Steve smith said it was a great pick so we are good. I am so deflated right now. And I do t want to be the guy that says told you so. But ther will be more pro bowls players in the 3rd round than our number 5 overall pick. He wo t be the best middle linebacker in this class. It will be a 4-6 round pick line every year. Buc all night you prove my point though named 5 middle linebackers but only three were in the playoffs of the guys you listed. And three out of the five you didn’t know ther name. Exactly my point the kid from Indiana the falcons dude. And you know that only 2 of those 5 guys you listed were drafted in the first round. And the the other guy you listed Mosley a first round pick was just allowed to leave via free agency without resigning him. As we watch middle tier defensive ends get traded for A 1st and 2nd round pick. So you helped my case when you thought you were being slick and showing me up so you stfu. khalil mack made the entire defense for the Bears fire on all cylinders. So a MLB can make an impact. Leadership and individual play making game in game out makes a difference.
Devin White will be the face of the defense and his attitude will define us in the league as khalil mack does for the Bears.
That being said, snag a DE or two.

Buc all night yea thank you Bruce for building are defense right. Because we all know it starts with middle linebackers. That’s how you build a defense. If that is the case why did Cj Mosley and are very own who we could have franchised to keep Kwon Alexander hit free agency. You fans suck if you do t realize how bad we just messed up that draft. We had Oliver and Allen sitting thee for the taking g and we take middle linebacker. Let joe and me have it that we’re stupid right now. But next year at thai time and you guys are pissed because 10 players after our drat pick out perform ours dont say we told you so. I hope he turns out to be the best player ever drafted. But I’m a realist and I know he isn’t and we messed up. This is the first time in 20 years I haven’t went and watched a highlight clip of our pick. Because someone on this site a month ago put the link to alabama game highlights on this website. And I watched that and saw a guy who couldn’t get off blocks who was getting beat up by the guards. And I made my mind up then. I’m not getting false hope again about an average player who we expect to be the greatest ever

Bucs did fine-real fine! There is plenty of good players left, Falcons done till day 3, this a defensive draft and they needed defensive help. They got a guard and a tackle that were projected for round 2 in round 1. Panthers made a nice choice. We got the best linebacker in the draft-well done. He will be used to pressure the passer and in coverage–happy on this pick.

Good to see that some JBFers ‘get it’. But it’s much more important that our HC & DC & yes, GM ‘get it’ … and they did. Bucs defense was devoid of FIELD LEADERSHIP. Yes, we desperately NEED our own beast in the middle who can make plays, but FIELD LEADERSHIP is EVEN more important on this team. Todd Bowles ‘gets that’ in a way that our DCs since Monte Kiffin didn’t (yes, Monte understood the value of FIELD LEADERSHIP, thus the key roles played by Sapp, Brooks & Lynch in his defenses).
I’ve backed Devin White since the beginning and I’m excited that he was our pick, BUT … he’s still a rookie & he just inherited a massive responsibility on a mediocre defense (unless consecutive 5-11 records scream ‘Super Bowl here we come” that is). I don’t care how good he is, there’ll still be a huge learning curve, and there’ll be mistakes, lots of ’em. Just like there is with every rookie. I just hope that everyone gets behind the young man and supports him in that journey. And especially you Joe.

Okay first of all the panthers needed and offense tackle they tooled a DE for depth hahahahaha funny the falcons need a DT but didn’t because you know the Falcons are about to air it out look I didn’t like the pick last night too but there no need to shout and scream the whites the pick and looking at the tape and seeing we are going to be. An attacking defense I can see white being that. Guy and yes Josh Allen would been great in pewter but I watch the tape he’s more of a speed rusher that doesn’t use his hands as much now I’m not going to lie is Williams or bosa was there and the picked white I would have lost my mind but I can see why they picked him also I really believe jaylen Ferguson is a second round gem if the Bucs pick him so there is hope guys calm down
