Unlikely to be benched.
After America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, lost his damn mind yesterday and started handing out more freebies than the old woman sweating over an electric skillet at the Aprons kiosk at Publix, a lot of Bucs fans wanted Jameis benched. (more…)

No excuses.
The Bucs shouldn’t attribute this setback to officials, lousy as they can be, the raucous Superdome crowd or a couple of injured players.
This was a beatdown, even if the final score appears respectable. The effort was not, so Tampa Bay’s roller-coaster season marches on across the pond, where the suddenly resurgent Panthers await, eager to atone for a Week 2 setback in Charlotte.
The Bucs have suffered two losses in a 3-week span to backup quarterbacks. Daniel Jones looked like a rookie at home against the Vikings on Sunday, but he shredded the Bucs on the road. Teddy Bridgewater just pulled off a very impressive impersonation of Drew Brees. (more…)

Joe is so damn tickled by what the Bucs offense accomplished on the road against a stout Rams defense and their legendary defensive coordinator. (more…)
America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, spread the ball around to eight receivers today, completing 68 percent of his passes and spraying four touchdowns to Cameron Brate, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
For the contract-watch crowd, Jameis now has two good games and one superstar game this season to complement one clunker. (more…)
Yes, Jason Pierre-Paul restructured his Bucs contract and took a pay cut, which was reported yesterday.
That smelled to Joe like JPP was ready to make a comeback this season. (more…)
Todd Bowles went vanilla
Todd Bowles is known for being a defensive super guru, a guy renowned for using players in roles that fit them, rather than being a slave to a system.
He’s also known for having a complicated defense with a lot of exotic looks and blitzes. (more…)

Come on back, Ronde.
On a day the Bucs honored a star from yesteryear, Tampa Bay’s current defense pushed the rerun button, looking like the sieve on display the previous two seasons at Raymond James Stadium.
There were plenty of culprits, with rookie kicker Matt Gay front and center, or rather, wide right, but the Giants won Sunday because rookie quarterback Daniel Jones shredded Tampa Bay’s defense — despite the absence of Saquon Barkley.
All four of New York’s TD drives covered at least 75 yards and monster games by Mike Evans and Shaq Barrett weren’t enough as the Bucs fell to 0-2 at home before beginning a treacherous road stretch.
It’s difficult to overestimate how demoralizing this setback was to Buc fans who were starting to believe in this team. A Todd Bowles scheme that had played so well for 10 quarters had no answers for Eli Manning’s replacement as Jones threw for 213 yards in the second half.
If this Buc season falls apart, supporters will point to the afternoon of Sept. 22 as the dispiriting turning point. Here’s how it all went down, literally and figuratively: (more…)
Perhaps the saddest aspect to today’s shocking crumble at the Den of Depression is how the Bucs didn’t play with the same intensity in the second half that they displayed in the first.
Instead of stepping on the proverbial throat of the Giants, they went soft. (more…)
Bad day for Todd Bowles

Welcome to the career of Jameis Winston.
