Brady’s Senior Moment

October 9th, 2020

Remember when Josh Freeman was flagged for back-to-back delay of game penalties coming out of a timeout? It was a classic 2013 Schiano moment.

Joe thinks Tom Brady topped it last night with a senior moment on what could have been the game-winning drive.

With 36 seconds remaining on a 4th-and-6 at the Bucs’ 41 yard line, Brady threw a low percentage pass to Cameron Brate over the middle.

Incomplete.

Game over.

But wait, Brady wouldn’t leave the field and was flashing four fingers as if to say the officials messed up and he had another play.

He didn’t.

It was embarrassing. Even Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez took a shot at Brady after the game on the FOX broadcast, noting that doesn’t — and shouldn’t — even happen in high school. At least Freeman allegedly had a problem with his helmet communication speaker.

Speaking of communication, Byron Leftwich should be reminding Brady of what down it is in his headset. Maybe he did; maybe he didn’t.

What an embarrassment that was — on national television — right after the embarrassing Brady-Bucs end of the first half.

Man, Joe’s glad the Bucs are off this Sunday. Joe needs a day to decompress.

Well there is the Butt Fumble and now the Brady brain fart lol losing sucks GO BUCS!!!

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Hard for me to believe this is all Brady & not on coaches……but it’s possible

  3. REDZONE BA Says:

@Joe’s – THANK YOU for honest evaluation. I love that we have a 6-Ring QB. But we Tompa blew option for a winning Field Goal.

  4. Ed Kerber Says:

Brady was hit so much he should have been in concussion protocol.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We’ve had a lot of articles & I’m still waiting on the one dedicated to Rojo’s 2nd 100 yard game in a row…
After the constant bashing & disparaging, demeaning comments……it’s time to give the man his due. The archives are there for you. Joe has written multiple positive stories about RoJo this week. Why make things up?–Joe
    We have a running back…..

  6. Bucsfan951 Says:

Can’t wait for joe to add this to the already long list he uses to describe Brady before actually saying his name. What should he go with?

    Senior moment Brady
    What down is it Brady
    Thirdish down Brady
    Grandpa Brady

    Anyone would be acceptable lol

  7. Bucsalltheway Says:

40+ years old…hes used to new england thinking they had it in the bag with 4 mins left to go what an idiot..has he watched any bucs game ever lol….defense played poor idk what made them think they could.slow down a chicago team with a wr being rb2 lol…embarrassing to say the least. 2 big stage games and no win

  8. REDZONE BA Says:

@Ed – Puhlease – those sacks were based on Brady taking the ground and avoiding big hits.

  9. August 1976 Buc Says:

Tampabaybucfan, yes it is a group effort on this, they should have kept Tom aware, but still a brain fart none the less. On National TV, the GOAT has his moment. Whatever life goes on. Buzz saw of a QB for the secondary in 10 days. Strap it it on D GO BUCS!!!

  10. JameisAlmighty Says:

I said it earlier in the year and I’ll say it again.. this version of Brady will not be fun to watch. He’s losing and is part of a downright terrible decision by poor decision making Jason Licht. It will always just be a Bucs life with Licht in power. Get rid of Licht and rebuild this team.

  11. unbelievable Says:

Maybe Byron Leftwich should worry about not calling THE MOST PREDICTABLE RUN UP THE GUT ON 1ST DOWN EVER when you only have a 2 point lead, your defense has played like trash, and there’s 11 frickin guys in the box!

  12. Bird Says:

    Good call joe

    Call it like you see
    Man this guy is old
You sound like talking points of a certain you know what

    Joes response

    I didnt mean blah

I know a book club you are already in
    Ndog blow him up
    Tell him he is right

    —-

“Jameis had a mixed bag” after a crap game

Hilarious. I mean be that guy

  13. Miketb19 Says:

I still believe in Tom Brady and BA last time checked even great teams can have a bad week here or there.

We lost by 1 point to a team with one of the best defenses in football a defense that got the Bears to 3-1 even with Mitch Trubisky as there quarterback so it’s not like we lost to the Jets guys

Last time I checked we’re still 3-2 with 70% percent of the season still to play let’s take a long weekend get our s*** together and give GB there first loss next Sunday.

By the way the Bears can give a huge assist to the Refs in this game the offense was sloppy there’s no doubt it tonight but the 3 penalties we got on Defense were total dog s***
2 Barrett for offsides when even Ray Charles could of seen Ifedi jumped and the roughing the passer penalty
1 on Carlton Davis for PI when Foles under three that ball by almost 10 yards Allen Robinson arms aren’t a giraffes neck last time I checked

So make no mistake about it the Bears were not the better team tonight just the more fortunate one remember that

  14. Rod Munch Says:

I’m fine with the Brady signing, think the Bucs should have done it – but Jesus Christ, if Winston did this you’d have a rioting mob in front of One Buc Place tonight.

After 5 games the Bucs are 3-2, exactly where they’d have been with JW – and where I figured they’d be. Coming out of this break we’ll hopefully get back Godwin, and Evans can be out there playing on more than 1 leg, then that makes Miller a lot more valuable since he’ll be pushed further down the depth chart and shouldn’t get completely shut down like tonight.

I had the Winston Bucs going 11-5 – and the Brady Bucs going 11-5, but with Brady playing dividends in the playoffs – hopefully. Now they have to pick up the pace and actually beat a team that isn’t terrible, and I have faith that they will. Missing Godwin is a really big deal, and unlike Joe who seems to think playing injured makes no difference in performance, getting Evans healthy is a big deal.

  15. adam from ny Says:

    “4th and brady” …

hey johnny where’s the secret barbarque?”

just go to 4th and brady, make a left, and when you get to 3rd and turd, knock on the brown door…when someone opens, throw up the 4 finger code for auto entry”

  16. Joe in Michigan Says:

I remember when Doug Williams did the same thing, on a Monday night game back in the day. It’s just another drop in the bucket of the absurdity of being a Bucs fan.

  17. Joe in Michigan Says:

It might not been a Monday night game, come to think of it…Doug Williams spiked the ball on 4th down, thinking it was 3rd down. He was still my favorite player after that.

  18. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    that was embarrassing last night

  19. Ed Says:

Ugly football by both teams. Bucs had many opportunities to win this game. Give the Bears credit defensively but offensive play calling was evident in the second half. The Bears pass rush was tremendous and the Bucs did nothing to adjust to it. It really looked as if there was no plays in the Arians/Leftwich playbook to offset the rushes from the edge.

Do the Bucs have a draw play in their playbook? Do they know how to get their backs into space where the pass rushers are vacating?

Clearly the game plan needed to change in the second half. Brady needs a clean pocket and it was the worst pass blocking I’ve seen all season. Bad time to leave him helpless. Bears roughed him up for sure.

  20. orlbucfan Says:

Methuselah made a methuselah mistake. As the actual long suffering fans have pointed out, the team is 3-2. They have a long break so Ungodly and ME13 can rest and heal. You can bet Chris Godwin is making sure his hammy is healing. He wants to get back on the field with his actual pal/ mentor ME13. Very sorry to hear about Vea but it’s Buc Luck. That goes for the sh1tty referring, too. The great SB team know they had to outplay the refs and the opposing team. Same deal here. These players are getting it. Bucs will beat the Pack at home. I did not feel that way about this game. Go Bucs!

  21. The Coroner Says:

Yep. Senior moment and I am a senior too.

  22. Ndog Says:

Weren’t we told we’re going to have a quarterback now that doesn’t embarrass us?

  23. Hahahahaha Says:

Sucks that we lost but you all deserve this anyway. If you think yall deserv anything but the worst after this pathetic excuse for a fanbase lambasted the last kid to death. I can’t even imagine the comments if Jameis would have done that. Yall would form a lynch mob outside his house. The tompa kkk got what they deserve last night.

  24. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

I thought I heard Bradshaw say something about maybe the down and distance marker was wrong and Brady was looking at that? Dunno…it looked bad because it was shown on National TV. 3-2…as Brady’s former HC would say ”we’re on to Green Bay”

  25. Nick Says:

Believe it or not this is the SECOND TIME in Bucs history a 4th down driving to win the game error was made. In 1980, Doug Williams was driving the Bucs at home vs the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, and threw the ball on 4th down thinking he had achieved a first down the play before. Interesting point, Doug Williams was 25. Its not an age thing, the muscles may not be, but mind is sharp at 43.

  26. Tc Says:

Brady’s arm strength was suspect last night. Breeze is the same way. Same with Ryan. All three are great qb’s but they are old school – stand in the pocket qb’s. The new trend of the league because of the speed of the rush are highly mobile qb’s that can buy time or hurt a defense with their feet. If a defense makes a big push up the middle into the face of the stand in the pocket qb they are dead – that happened to Brady last night and they don’t have the arm strength to get the ball out.

  27. Tc Says:

He had a senior moment last night, lol

  28. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

With that move, Tom is now officially a Buc. That game was up there with some of the classic clunkers from McKay, Morris, Bennett, and Perkins eras.

  29. Big Stinky Says:

Someone’s post was spot on. Last year I would have totally blamed it on SHAMELESS but this year I see things differently. We had 3 other drives that SHOULD have made a difference in the game counting the meltdown drive at their end of the field. Bruce admitted it saying they were out coached which is EXACTLY what happened. Sure hope that Bowles is our next HC as long as he still calls the defense and stays the F**K out of that stupid effing golf cart. Bruce quit coaching 2018 and should have NEVER came back if he doesn’t WANT to coach.

  30. bucsfaninOregon Says:

I’m with Bellingham. This game, which forever should be labeled “NDog’s Revenge”, is simply fate’s way of introducing Brady to Buc World. We can add this to the myriad ways the Bucs have to lose a game.
It seems a bit tough to win games when your receivers are almost all hurt, but that’s a Buc Life.

Brady is now a Buc for real.

  31. Dapostman Says:

Bird Brain just can’t let go of Ndog.

  32. Beaner Says:

Let’s be honest here: The offensive line was the major contributor to that loss last night. A QB cannot throw the ball when he is laying on his back. Yes the defense should have played better, but the Oline SUCKED last night.

  33. Dirk Disco Says:

Thursday night games are for 30 and under players. They do not favor anyone older than that.
