Crab-legs-stealing, BB-gun-shooting, obscenity-hollering, Heisman-Trophy-winning, former national champion Jameis Winston, the pride of Florida State University, continues to look like a much better quarterback prospect than Mike Glennon and Josh McCown.
It’s Joe’s daily nugget on the Jameis Watch, celebrating the best quarterback to wear No. 5 ever in the state of Florida. (more…)
Last year, when it was clearly obvious to everyone not named “Lovie Smith” that Tampa Bay was out of contention for January games, the Bucs allegedly rebuffed trade offers for wide receiver Vincent Jackson.
It was a smart move.
First, it was forward thinking. (more…)
The popular underwear Olympics kick off this week in Indianapolis, the glorified track meet known as the NFL Scouting Combine.
Joe will be there braving the ridiculously cold temperatures, chatting with Bucs officials, top prospects and various NFL types. (more…)

Big bucks defensive end Michael Johnson delivered four sacks and about five quarters of good football last year.
His play was ghastly, ghostly and soft. (more…)
Of course, Joe, like many, thought Lovie Smith was settled on using Josh McCown as a bridge quarterback of sorts for Jameis Winston — that McCown would start until Winston was deemed ready to rock and roll. (more…)
Just because you have money, fame and live in a gated community doesn’t mean you are safe.
Just ask Donald Penn.
The former Bucs Pro Bowl left tackle (boy, the Bucs sure could have used a guy like him last year. Oh, wait…) spent a quiet day at his Los Angeles home recently. (more…)

In many ways, Tampa Bay’s 2014 season was more bizarre than the MRSA-infected, quarterback-gone-mental, Fire-Schiano-billboards campaign of 2013.
There were plenty of real Bucs mysteries last year, and Joe’s revisiting the most interesting of the bunch. (more…)
Ask Bucs general manager Jason Licht about the NFL Scouting Combine, which kicks off in Indianapolis next week, and Licht will tell you it’s “underwear Olympics” and he won’t adjust his draft board much based on combine stats.
Lovie Smith is the opposite. (more…)
Joe never dreamed Josh McCown would have been cut like he was — when he was. That’s not to say he shouldn’t have been cut.
When you are the worst starting quarterback in the NFL on the worst team in the NFL, you shouldn’t have job security. (more…)
Hey, did you watch your Bucs play last year, two years ago, hell, three-quarters of the seasons since Brad Johnson won the Super Bowl? Gruesome, right?
Joe thinks Bucs fans have become so accustomed to godawful quarterback play, they don’t know any better. (more…)

Popular radio and TV personality Adam Schein mopped the floor with the Bucs for their 2014 season, recent moves and the team’s perceived flirtation with Jameis Winston, among other things.
Adam Schein has had it. The popular radio and TV personality finally reached his boiling point with the Bucs. So Thursday, upon news the Bucs cut bait with turnover-prone quarterback Josh McCown, a favorite of Schein’s, he took to the airwaves of “Mad Dog Radio,” part of the family of sports channels heard exclusively on SiriusXM Radio, dedicating half of his “Schein on Sports” monologue to tearing apart the Bucs. Just recounting the miserable 2014 season makes Joe want to reach for a bottle of Pepto-Bismol and chug. It was nauseating, which one should expect from a 2-14 team. (more…)
“The Pope,” Mike Francesa, claims short of Jameis Winston holding up a store, the Bucs will be forced to move Mike Glennon.
How much did the Bucs releasing turnover-prone quarterback Josh McCown blow up NFL news cycles?
In an unprecedented move, the subject was a focus with “The Pope” of sports radio, Mike Francesa of WFAN-AM 660 in New York.
Francesa, manning his wildly popular show, also simulcast weekdays on Fox Sports 1, took a chunk out of his busy time otherwise discussing Tom Coughlin, the hapless Jets and Alex Rodriguez, and authoritatively stated the Bucs already have decided who their next quarterback is in the wake of McCown’s release. Vincent Jackson is set to earn about $10 million in 2015.
That’s a lot of cheese for a team’s No. 2 wide receiver. (more…)
