Jameis fires back

In what should surprise no one, Jameis Winston has filed a civil counter claim against the woman accusing him of sexual assault, offering precision detail on what he claims are a series of lies and fabrications. (more…)

Enjoy!

(More to come after midnight. NFL rules limit total footage per day.)

Joe absolutely loved watching some of Bucs rookie/tryout camp today alongside the seasoned eyeballs of a former Buccaneeers quarterback.

Joe learned Jameis Winston wasn’t just throwing balls in drills to no-name receivers. (more…)

Bucs coach Lovie Smith and QB Jameis Winston wait their turn to take the podium for their post-practice press conferences today at One Buc Palace.

If America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, had butterflies in his Bucs debut on the practice field at One Buc Palace, you wouldn’t have known that from his demeanor and his words.

Bucs seventh-round pick, fullback prospect Joey Iosefa.

Call Joe a wiseass, but Joe had to ask new Bucs fullback Joey Iosefa from the University of Hawaii whether he knew Marcus Mariota.

Yeah, Hawaii is a big place, and Mariota played for the University of Oregon, but it was worth a shot. (more…)

Back in 2010, Raheem Morris rolled out “Race to 10” as the official mantra of the Buccaneers. The meaning was simple: be the first team to win 10 games.

Lovie Smith has different ideas. (more…)

It’s Joe’s notes and nuggets from Day 1 of rookie minicamp!

Man, Joe was fired up to see some football on the broiling fields of One Buc Palace. Tryout players and draft picks gathered for the first time — for their first practice. The first hour was open to media. (more…)

Bucs WR Kenny Bell hauls in a pass at Bucs rookie minicamp today. But it was a move he put on a fellow rookie CB that was the highlight of practice for Joe.

One things that Jameis Winston, America’s quarterback and the savior of the Bucs, brings to the team is hope. The Bucs were hopeless last year with turnover-prone Josh McCown.

Without a quarterback, an NFL team is hopeless. Fans are hopeless. Hopefully, Winston proves to be at least a capable, top-15 quarterback. (more…)

Stick with Joe through the afternoon.

Jameis Winston is on the practice field, and Joe’s finished watching No. 3’s first hour of work, along with the other rookies and tryout players.

Plenty coming soon.

Whether you believe in the statistical gibberish pumped out by the numberscrunchers over at Pro Football Focus or not, Joe gives them credit for never holding back on an opinion.

And in the opinion of Thomas Maney, the analytics reveal the Bucs whiffed on their second round pick, Donovan Smith. (more…)

A new stat from the data junkies

Joe is harsh on former Bucs quarterback Josh McCown. His play deserved it.

Joe thanked McCown for leading the Bucs to victory in the Chase for Jameis. That angers some folks, but you know what, if you play truly horrible at QB, where you would have been benched if you were a high school kid, and led your team to the worst record in football, a kick in the arse is what is needed. Jameis Winston was a busy man

Jameis Winston was back at his Alabama home recently, preparing to embark on what Bucs fans and the team hopes is a decade or more of service that restores on-field glory. (more…)

One reason the Bucs were so enamored with Jameis Winston was his leadership strength.

Yeah, “leader” is almost as overused in sports as the recent fad of “mentor.”

But there are some that inspire their teammates and Winston is one of those. (more…)

Were the Titans secretly pining for Jameis WInston as well? Candid video says a lot.

Remember the report that came out at NFL draft time from NFL Network’s Judy Battista? She stated Bucs players, last season, texted general manager Jason Licht encouraging him to draft Jameis Winston. (more…)

The fun really kicks up tomorrow afternoon about 1:30, when Jameis Winston hits the Bucs practice field for the first time — the start of rookie minicamp.

Joe will be there, eager to soak in how the franchise-savior quarterback handles himself.

As a special treat, Joe is calling in his crack video team for your viewing pleasure.

Don’t sleep on Joe tomorrow.

One of the elite personnel gurus of the modern era, Hall of Famer Bill Parcells, has a simple philosophy when it comes to drafted players: (more…)

If Bucs rookie WR Kenny Bell can adjust to catching short passes, he may become a key contributor.

Like many NFL types, Joe was shocked the Bucs picked up Nebraska wide receiver Kenny Bell in the fifth round. There are all kinds of wide receivers who turn out to be studs drafted on the third day.

Of course, you have to perform. (more…)

Joe wants to be excited about the Bucs’ offensive line under the tutelage of veteran O-line coach George Warhop, who is in his second season in Tampa. (more…)
