“I Was Anxious”

Bucs coach Lovie Smith and QB Jameis Winston wait their turn to take the podium for their post-practice press conferences today at One Buc Palace.

If America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, had butterflies in his Bucs debut on the practice field at One Buc Palace, you wouldn’t have known that from his demeanor and his words.

In his post-practice press conference, Winston almost chuckled when asked if he was nervous.

“No!” Winston said, who no longer is wearing pre-wrap bandage for a headband and instead wore a black Bucs skullcap. Winston almost physically recoiling when asked if he was nervous. “I was anxious. This is football. This is the game that we love. I am just blessed to have this opportunity to be out here with these guys.”

Winston, who used to brag before the draft and in his days at Florida State that football is his “sanctuary,” nearly sighed when asked if he was happy to finally get on a football field after all the chaos of his offseason and vile untruths hurled at him by haters from all corners.

“Oh, man, I was so elated,” Winston said. “I was so happy to be with a team again. Ready to be a Buc and have fun and play the game that I love so much.”

Winston confessed he was up until 1 a.m. this morning studying his playbook, trying to master Bucs offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter’s offense while enjoying practice.

“Absolutely man,” Winston said. “This is the game we love. This is our passion. I am so excited to be a Buc. I am so excited to be out there and play football again. I get anxious. Now I want to play games. I want too much now.”

I must FUKN admit… It feels great to turn on the NFLN and see all this YUCS exposure for good reasons. Not for a Thursday night game blowout!

He may not make it, but I feel better about him than any quarterback that’s ever been drafted or played for the Bucs. (Not old enough to remember Young and Williams.)

I think it is just now dawning on me that Jameis Winston is the QB of my beloved Buccaneers. Wow! It almost seems surreal to think the Bucs could have one of the better QBs in the league if this goes as planned. Oh Happy Days!

Overwhelmed? You are wrong. Another person who does not know Jameis. Check his interviews. Thats who he is. Oh and he rises to the occasion in crunch time. You think he is overwhelmed due to rookie minicamp? In his words……………………….”I live for moments like these. They don’t know, I already showed out. ” Thats what he said driving on his way to his pro day. Oh and who can forget………If we gonnna do it, we do it big then!!! Overwhelmed? Not in the least.

Please note, I was not attacking you. I was just saying this guy is a different guy. All of our psychological analysis conclusions does not apply to him. That is why the bucs had to draft him. He is a different beast. That is why he was the youngest player to win the heisman. That is why he was the first freshman to throw 40 tds in a season. That is why he was the first rookie qb to greet every rookie coming to rookie minicamp. He believes in every one of his teammates. They say he used to spend the same amount of time with 5 star recruits as walk-ons. We are dealing with a different dude!!! Exciting times to be a buc fan.

Jameis actually wore a extra wide head band like college but black with Bucs Logo. Maybe he cut the top off a Scull cap because I’ve ever seen one like it.

Who would have thought Jameis would come across so humble while Donovon Smith so cocky.
