Winston’s Wonderland

May 7th, 2015

jameis 0409The fun really kicks up tomorrow afternoon about 1:30, when Jameis Winston hits the Bucs practice field for the first time — the start of rookie minicamp.

Joe will be there, eager to soak in how the franchise-savior quarterback handles himself.

As a special treat, Joe is calling in his crack video team for your viewing pleasure.

Don’t sleep on Joe tomorrow.

Back in the day I’d drive up to the old One Buc Place…park my truck along the north fence line and watch

  2. Eric Says:

Did the same many times Mr. Joe Joe.

Cant wait for the video and Joe’s assessment.

  3. Bee Says:

Savior? No pressure huh? Lol… let him play football first. Geez. Lets see him play some preseason games at least.

Is “Joe’s crack video team” aka for “his apple iphone” ????

  8. WS99 Says:

Hope the videos come out better than the pics you post to ig. As the great jay z says “focus man”.

I used to get into practice as one of Warrick Dunns siblings, there’s like 18 of them and some how I got included in the fam. Awesome sauce.

  9. Buc1987 Says:

Come to think of it Joe. I’m jealous. You must be extremely excited for tomorrow. I wouldn’t be able to sleep.

  10. WS99 Says:

87 is waiting for his press pass joe. Come on joe – hook a brother up.

  11. RastaMon Says:

We can only hope Joe can separate his groupie self from his journalist self….well there is no time like the present to start… 😉

  12. BuccaneEric Says:

Crack video team?? Is that like a certain crack commando unit??

  13. Jim Says:

I am very excited. I hope that Jameis is better than anyone could ever imagine. That said, the NFL is no cakewalk.

  14. WS99 Says:

So jameis is first one at OBP and is at the door to greet all the new rookies? Winston must have the Anthony Robbins CDs at home. #leadership

  15. The Buc Realist Says:

You guys don’t say “Crack” too loud, or old #5 might just show up!

  16. Clint Says:

LOL what if he called you a horses ass on day one with him, told you to go F yourself; out of the complete blue… that would make writing about him on here tough. I know he won’t but it had me giggling at the thought of it.

  17. Orlampa Turd Says:

We’ll never sleep on you, Joes. Keep up the great work. As Bucs fans, we are lucky to have a site like this to visit (multiple times) each day.

  18. Harry Says:

@87, and Santa is wearing #3 brother! I’m guessing he is going to toss about 27 presents for the Bucs this season

  21. OneLove Says:

Yeah, Where are you at Joe!?!? Hook a Brutha up!!

  22. Gator - Bucs Says:

SOOOOOOOO Excited that Actual Football is here now. We can stop arguing and tone down the speculation now that we will have some concrete sh*t going on again. Can’t wait to see some film that comes out of tomorrow’s mini!

  23. Harry Says:

87, I read that article and seriously, I think with the weapons Winston has in VJax, Evans and ASJ, that Jameis is the favorite for ROTY. Of course that friggin Oline will play a factor and I am not confident in its outcome…

  24. BuccaneEric Says:

I hope he better than any of the QBs I’ve rooted for over the last 28 or so years! And yes, I rooted for Marino too!!!!

  25. WalkdaPlank Says:

For the first time in a long time, I may actually be excited to watch some preseason games. Cannot wait to see Winston slinging TD’s, hopefully the God forsaken O-line shows up, to me that is the biggest factor here.

  26. DallasBuc Says:

Training camp practices open to the public will be nuts this year. Can’t wait.

  27. Abu5217 Says:

First comment on JBF (love this site… so much more positive than some other coughBNcough sites.

As an FSU alum and fan, you guys are about to get to know the Jameis that we have known for a few years.

(Spoiler: He’s not the monster that the press has made him out to be, but most of you already know this)

Not surprised at all that he was the first one to report and that he welcomed all of his fellow rookies.

Two years ago, I figured FSU was going to lose to Clemson (after all, that’s what ESPN and everyone else said). Then this video came out…

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwfeXHRWsHE

(Not sure what the rules are for links, if this is not welcome, apologies)

This was our first glimpse of the leader that JW is.

You guys got a great guy. Most FSU fans know this. Many many Bucs fans will soon know it too.

  28. joeNUTS Says:

    Abu
This is the NFL and totally different since everyone on the field is as good or better than JW; everything he did in college does not matter anymore. He is a young man amongst grown men now.

I hope JW lights it up but lets see.

I think JBF was pretty ON with 6 win prediction this year.

  29. Architek Says:

Thanks again Josh F and Josh M!

  30. Abu5217 Says:

    @joeNUTS:

Not sure where your response came from. I realize this is the NFL (but thanks for clarifying). I don’t think I said that the Bucs were going to win the Super Bowl, I was mainly talking about the kid being a leader and not necessarily the person that certain media outlets have made him out to be.

If something I posted seemed otherwise, feel free to let me know what that was.

  31. Tyrone Biggums Says:

    Did someone say Crack?

  32. Buc1987 Says:

    It’s “Jameis Time” tomorrow!

  33. Mariota Joe Says:

See, I am a Bucs fan…..and I don’t really want to see Infamous fail. Don’t wanna see him succeed…..but I really just don’t want to see him at all.

  34. BuccaneEric Says:

Walk, I hear ya!! I haven’t watched a preseason game in over 20 years I think!! I will this year!!!! Go BUCS!!!!

  35. BuccaneEric Says:

I always told my kids that I hate preseason games. It’s only a tease and they don’t mean $hit!! Now what do I tell them!!!! Lol

  36. William Berry Says:

@Mariota Joe – you don’t want to see Winston succeed? Seriously? And you call yourself a Bucs fan?

  37. DEEnice07 Says:

I’ve never been this excited to see a rookie hit the field for the 1st time, it feels so good to finally have this feeling again. It’s been over a decade that I’ve been this pumped about something so simple as this. Tampa is such a better place, when the Bucs are relevant! I’ve got to admit, me & my dad had season tickets from 98 thru 2010. And now I’m finally a season ticket holder again because I know this kid will pump excitement back into this stadium. It’s something that’s been missing for far to long. Get ready Tampa Bay, tomorrow is the start of a new Era, back to the good old days, when we made headlines for all the right reasons. It really is a new day in Tampa bay like my man Sam Wyche used to say!!!! Walking up to Raymond Jameis Stadium, is going to feel good again, & a place where people unite as one to root OUR Bucs on!!!!

  38. Mariota Joe Says:

    William Berry….read it again.

  39. BuccaneEric Says:

You had me until you said the name Sam Wyche. Not counting the draft picks of course.

  40. joeNUTS Says:

    Abu
Yeah you sound like the typical blinded FSU fan….thanks for coming and letting us know what we got when even you do not know. Sorry my post didnt translate to your peanut but the point was this is not FSU and all that crap you wrote about him not being who the media (pretty broad brush btw as all were not critical see JBF as example #1) as not fair is BS. JW is who he is…an immature not NFL ready QB…that has a lot to prove still in the NFL and to this community. He said it himself at media day. Let us know when you have something tangible to say that is NFL related.

BTW let me highlight a great example of JW not being a leader….the Clemson game when you dress and you were told you are suspended for the game….not leadership. Immaturity and entitlement.

  41. Abu5217 Says:

Ahhh NUTS, you got me. Typical blind FSU fan with no knowledge of the pro game. I guess my 30+ years of watching NFL ball doesn’t color my input at all.

At least I know enough about things to realize that the clip I posted was from the 2013 Clemson game…

I can see from your arguments “not NFL ready”, “immaturity and entitlement” that you obviously don’t really know what the hell you are talking about, so you can move along and let the adults talk here.

Thanks for your scintillating input though.
