The making of Lavonte David.
There were few things to like about the Bucs last year. You know, 2-14?
The best thing about last year was the Bucs won the Chase for Jameis. That is the greatest memory, other than the home run draft pick of wide receiver Mike Evans. [read more]

Many NFL fans in and out of Tampa Bay have thrown their hands in the air in frustration
Fashionista Paul Lukas of BSPN has revealed his annual rankings of NFL uniforms. Lukas does not like the Bucs’, which debuted last year.
Joe is a traditionalist and doesn’t like weirdo uniforms (oh, and this just in: Oregon, for example, doesn’t have uniforms, it has costumes. If you have two or more color schemes in road or home gear, you don’t have uniforms. Please consult Merriam-Webster for the definition of “uniform.” There is nothing “uniform” about Oregon’s gear.). Was Charles Sims forced to play too early from an injury or was he simply over-hyped?
It is the chicken-or-the-egg theory with Bucs’ running attack, or lack thereof last year.
As a team, Tampa Bay only ran for 1,375 yards. In. A. Season.
Doug Martin was hurt and ran with his head down, for the most part, and tried to bowl over linebackers making little effort to be evasive. Charles Sims — let’s be brutally honest here — was either over-hyped or forced to play too early coming back from a bad wheel, or both. Bobby Rainey found himself in Lovie Smith’s doghouse and never found the exit. [read more]

The magic of “America’s Quarterback,” Jameis Winston, rubbed off on the Lightning. Jameis was in attendance last night.
So as Joe settled in to watch David Letterman’s final show last night (Joe is feeling old. Eddie Van Halen is over 60 and Letterman is retired. Damn.), Joe’s Twitter feed blew up with photos of “America’s Quarterback,’ Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, in a luxury box at the thrilling Lightning overtime win. [read more]

Bill Polian wags a finger at those who believe the Bucs are a complete team.
Yes, the Bucs added a franchise quarterback in the draft, “America’s Quarterback,” Jameis Winston. Yes, the Bucs added a pair of rookie offensive linemen projected to be starters.
Also, the Bucs bought quite few second-tier free agents that not just add depth, but know Lovie Smith’s defense. [read more]

The Bucs will turn to Kadeem Edwards at right guard, if rookie Ali Marpet cannot hack NFL competition early on.
Yes, the Bucs are putting a lot of pressure on “America’s Quarterback,” signal-caller Jameis Winston. Starting a rookie QB, no matter how talented he may be, is always a gamble.
Putting that same rookie behind a shaky offensive line could be the proverbial pulling the pin on a hand grenade. [read more]
