Game 15

Bears (5-9) at Bucs (6-8)

Kickoff: 1 p.m.

TV: WTVT Channel 13; DirecTV Channel 708

Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network (WDAE-AM 620 and WFUS-FM 103.5 in Tampa-St. Petersburg region); SiriusXM Channel 126.

Weather: Man, Joe cannot believe the awesome weather we are having in late December. Just freaking awesome. And Sunday will be no different. Per AccuWeather.com, tailgaters will enjoy revelry under partly sunny skies and upper 70s. Kickoff should be 83 degrees with a high reaching 85 at halftime and through the rest of the game. Bring the sunscreen!

Odds: Per FootballLocks.com, Bucs -3.5.

Outlook: The Bucs have a rotten secondary. The Bears have a rotten secondary. The Bucs at least have Mike Evans. The Bears have, well, um. … This may be a battle of quarterbacks: Bratty Jay Cutler vs. America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. Joe’s not sure which team has the worst secondary, so you turn to the air attack of the offenses. Jameis has a slight advantage there, only because of Evans. Chicago often struggles with tall, athletic receivers, which is Evans. Of course, it always helps if the Bucs can get Doug Martin going early and often. He ,as the Bears’ rush defense is weak. Joe has a hunch this is going to be a war of arms, and those arms belong to each team’s quarterback.

Nuggets: The Bucs have the seventh-ranked offense, averaging 374 yards a game. … The Bucs are fourth in the NFL in rushing: 141 yards a game. … K Connor Barth last week tied Martin Gramatica for most 50-yard-or-longer field goals in franchise history with 15. … QB Jameis Winston’s 363 yards passing last week was six yards shy of the team rookie record held by Vinny Testaverde (369). … Winston needs four touchdown passes to move into third place for most NFL touchdowns thrown by a rookie since 1970, which would surpass Andrew Luck (23). … WR Mike Evans (5) needs 100-yard receiving games today and next Sunday to move into second place for most 100-yard receiving games by a Bucs receiver in a season. Antonio Bryant ranks second with six. …  RB Doug Martin trails Adrian Peterson (1,314) by nine yards in the race for NFL’s top rusher. … The Bears have dominated the series with the Bucs holding a winning record of 37-18. … Despite the Bears being soft in the middle of their secondary, Chicago is third in the NFL in pass defense. … The Bears are No. 23 against the run. … In only seven seasons in Chicago, bratty QB Jay Cutler is the franchise leader in eight categories including touchdowns, attempts, completions and passing yardage. … RB Matt Forte set the NFL record last year for receptions by a running back with 102. … Rookie DT Eddie Goldman, Jameis’ college teammate, has 4.5 sacks in 14 games (11 starts) with 17 quarterback pressures and 38 tackles. … CB Kyle Fuller leads the Bears with two interceptions.

Upon finding out that he would be calling the Bucs game. The head referee decided to pass out extra yellow hankies to the rest of his staff for today’s game.

Hey I just saw one fly and the game is 2 hours away.

Big game for draft positioning. Loser is likely picking top 8 or higher, winner might be in the mid teens. And yet despite that being all that matters, McCoy is actually going to keep playing hurt? I get it for games that mattered but this season is over. Not proving anything to anyone, people have their minds made up with him.

  7. Buccfan37 Says:

It’s hard to get a feel for this game. Only thing for certain is the Bucs will defer the opening kickoff if won. Beyond that it’s a big mystery to me and I imagine everyone else.

  8. Bucs Nihilist Says:

Bucs have better QB and running game, so they should…oh forget it. What does it really matter cosmically? Go bucs?
