Bears 26, Buccaneers 21

December 27th, 2015

Jameis Pick

What the hell is going on here? The Bucs have gone from “relevant” and “good” — Lovie Smith’s adjectives — to losers of three consecutive games to stinky football teams.

Your Buccaneers are a hot mess.

At least today, the Bucs (6-9) didn’t come out flat. They stopped Chicago on their first possession and blocked a punt on their second. Tampa Bay recovered that block at the Bears’ 4 yard line and Doug Martin scored immediately.

And then the bottom dropped out.

Penalties struck again. And William Gholston’s interception was wiped out by an Alterraun Verner face mask penalty. The Bucs, it seemed, never recovered mentally from that setback.

Sloppy was the word of the afternoon, from America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, to more penalties, a shoddy snap, two Doug Martin fumbles, special teams failures, and barely a breath on Jay Cutler.

And where was the Bucs’ stout run defense? The Bears mowed down 171 yards on the ground.

Oh, and your Bucs locked up a third-place NFC South finish by virtue of the Falcons (8-7) beating the Panthers (14-1).

  6. thunderchunkyPA Says:

Licht needs to pick his OWN HC. Licht ha made some damn good draft picks, and found some great additions for the team. Now, let the man pick his HC and try and get this team going forward. Bucs play NFC and AFC West in 2016, and it could be 5-11 next year too. Time to make a move

  7. ATrain Says:

Celly you still here driving Lovie Train

Let me get this straight you think we are getting better under Lovie.

    Hahaha..

Lovie hasn’t won as many as Shiano in two years.

Do we look better than we did against Atlanta..

Where were you Lovie Train guys when Schiano git run out of town.

Lovie is a bum..Players don’t PLAY for him. He doesn’t demand it.
    He’s not a winner..He’s s basement bum that’s where we found him..No one else was looking ..

Lovie takes nothing on his shoulders ..Other Coaches take all the criticism and get all the praise.NOT THIS VLOWN

  8. BucfaninMi Says:

Gruden got fired for dropping 4 in December, he’s 10x the coach Lovie is!

  9. Buccfan37 Says:

    Reality never left the building.

  10. WalkdaPlank Says:

What a disappointing end to a promising season. Finishing the season with a 4 game losing streak will have Lovie hanging by a thread. Unacceptable.

  11. Couch Fan Says:

Another injured team that is lacking talent to begin with, spanking us thoroughly, at home. The Lovie Lovers will try to tell us we just dont have enough talent. LoL At this point all one can do is laugh.

  12. stevek Says:

Simple as that, this football team is the laughing stock of the league.

I wish we could have that one coach from Rutgers back. He really knew how to discipline these big babies.

Way to go Lovie, can’t wait to hear about how it is getting better. LOL WE SUCK

Buccaneers are the Browns of the AFC as long as this azz clown head coach keeps roaming the sidelines.

  13. HarlemBuc Says:

Frustrating loss, not unexpected… You let any NFL QB stand in the pocket and pick spots this is gonna be the results. The defense just isn’t in position to win week to week. I’d say that while we will definitely upgrade(hopefully) in the draft Lovie is gonna need some help on the defensive side. We all have seen it. This team has a good young nucleus and could be something special in 2 years… I love my Bucs… And I got faith that we can turn this around guys just watch! While today was disappointing we moved up a draft spot and that’s the silver lining!!!!

  14. LargoBuc Says:

Speechless. Idk wtf is going on it looks like some of these players are giving up. No guts. No passion. Most of these guys look like they dont care. Esp on defense. We have made progress but theres still alot of work to do to change the losing culture around.

  15. This Guy Right Here Says:

Lovie’s coming back in 2016??? Yeah! …Fcuk Yeah!!!!!!

  16. tb Says:

I’m not for changing coaches every 2 years but his schemes just don’t work!

  17. ATrain Says:

Lovie Train get on here and defend your man.

Lovie has done nothing but win a couple of Games against losers.

What has he done…The Players like him that’s ir

  18. BucfaninMi Says:

Fire him NOW!!! Begin the search for the next HC

  19. Simpleasthat Says:

Total bush league piss poor Lovie football.

  20. orlbucfan Says:

We’ve got the usual haters and imbeciles on here. Where are the Buc fans? Youth and injuries lost the game today. Next season will showcase one heckuva offense. And the Stinkcats lost to the Dixie Chicks. Well, well, well.

  21. tb Says:

No more lovie I can’t take it!

  22. JonBuc Says:

Meh….moving on up the draft order board. Meaningless loss, Martin’s stock goes down like Joe’s slacks at a Rachel Watson photo shoot.

  23. Simpleasthat Says:

They need a defensive coordinator who can make adjustments and potentially take Lovies job.

  24. GhostofTedford Says:

    Fire Lovie Now!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. Ray Rice Says:

    Garbage all around!!!

  26. Simpleasthat Says:

Wow I didn’t realize the bugs were the only team w injuries.

  27. Bucnut2 Says:

This is on JW.take away the hail mary and he sucked!

  28. ATrain Says:

What makes anyone think next year will be better..We look worse at the end of the season than the middle..

A Coach has to set plays to the players..

Why are we throwing to Dye?
    McCoy does nothing..

Lovie is the Head Coach and calls the Defense..But not on him..

    BULL. $%$$

    Fire Lovie Now

  29. unbelievable Says:

What happened to run defense? What run defense? It didn’t exist.

One of the worst defensive performances of Lovie smiths tenure. And that is saying A LOT.

Does Lovie now have the worst record of any Bucs coach in the last 30 years?

  30. unbelievable Says:

Bucbutt and supersam need a private room plastered in Mariota pictures so they can have a 2 man circle jerk.

  31. rayjay1122 Says:

So, where is the free lunch Joe? Unless the Bucs beat the Panthers.

  32. Ed Says:

ucs have 4 offensive players with good hands, Charles Sims, Cameron Brate, Sheppard and Humpries. ASJ can’t catch, Evans catches some but his drops are unprofessional. Dye is horrible.

Next year want to see Winston develop a chemistry with Humphreys and Brate, they are far more reliable then Evans and ASJ. They’ll move the chains.

I think Winston is taking way too many hits. The Bears, just like the Rams were roughing him after releasing the ball. Refs are not enforcing the rules, saw a late hit plus a hit to his helmet that went uncalled and official was 10 feet from the play!

Defense, Lovie’s specialty can’t get any offense off the field. Every Buc opponent has been able to drive the ball down the Bucs defense and dominate time of possession in late 3rd and most of 4th quarters.

I have seen many games that I’m seeing a group of players not giving 100%. It appears that Smith isn’t getting a full effort from his entire roster. The younger players are trying much harder than the vets.

Experienced coaches who can’t production out of high-paid veterans will not stay employed very long. Owners expect the highest priced players to put up the best numbers.

  33. Ana Says:

Loss NOT on JW. Why can’t 13 catch balls that hit him in the hands? Why can’t our defense stop the run or pass rush? Why does our secondary suck? Why can’t Lovie coach? Does intelligent life exist elsewhere in the universe? These are the questions we ( Bucs fans) want answered!

  34. unbelievable Says:

Humphreys has had maybe 2 games where he did anything. But I agree he’s better than dye. Dye has speed but can’t catch a cold from a flu patient. Still wondering why he was called up over Ranel hall, who does nothing but ball out when given the chance.

  35. tval Says:

This team was very fortunate to be in playoff contention. I said before season they cld make playoffs, but when everyone was bandwagon jumping i felt the burden on the team the last month starting to pile on. After losing so many b.s. games early on, before they learned to win, it just became insurmountable. This is a good young team add talent at wideout and oline dline and secondary. Id look hard at aguayo as well.

  36. quickdrw21 Says:

I think we all know how this goes. We loose next week then hear how there was progress. Then next year after some moves and a draft we go 7 and 9 and Lovie is gone. It’s just the reality and nothing supports any other scenario except 5-11. Go Bucs 🙁

  37. BucFan20 Says:

So looks like the Bears were not done for the year. The Bucs are!

  38. JV Says:

All in all, there’s been some improvement this season–6 wins bears that out–but we haven’t beaten a single good team. Not one. I’m predicting we’re better next year, but could easily be 6-10 again.

  39. Clint Says:

We have lost the same game so many times this season. No reason to believe it will be any different next year.

  40. satchseven Says:

clint if you do not clean out the trash on defense, you will be crying the same thing even with a new coach. you do not have a talented defense period outside kwon, gmc and lvd. the rest are garbage

  41. Idontwannahearitanymore Says:

…and we haven’t locked up third place, Joe. If we lose next weel and the Saints win, we are back in fourth place! That’s progress?
