“I Think The Bears Are Done For The Year”

December 26th, 2015
Teddy Bridgewater, Ryan Mundy

Teddy Bridgewater torched the Bears for four touchdowns last weekend. A noted national voice and former team executive believes Chicago has mailed in its season.

So how bad are the Bears?

Chicago (5-9) has dropped three games in a row to the likes of Blaine Gabbert, Kirk Cousins and Teddy Bridgewater, who dumped four touchdowns on the Bears last Sunday.

As if that’s not embarrassing enough, Pat Kirwan, former Jets coach and personnel chief, and current prime time host on SiriusXM NFL Radio, believes the Bears have mailed in their season. “I think the Bears are done for the year,” Kirwan said, via this RealFootballNetwork video.

That’s damn harsh stuff. Keep in mind Kirwan co-hosts on radio with former Bears quarterback Jim Miller, who maintains close ties in the organization.

Kirwan, naturally, predicted the Bucs will Sunday behind what he said is the leadership and ability of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

“Remember Teddy Bridgewater went against this Chicago Bears defense and threw four touchdowns. No offense to Teddy, but if he can do it, so can Jameis, especially at home,” Kirwan said.

Just like the Saints game in Tampa of two weeks ago, this is a must-win game for the Bucs. It’s “must-win” if the Bucs want to consider themselves an average football team that hasn’t mailed in their own season.

Another winnable game at home against an inferior team. We’ve seen this before…

  2. StPeteBucsFan Says:

We really need to keep our heads on straight though. We are playing without even one of the DL who started the season for us. We are minus one of the best young MLB’s…we have a suspect secondary….

I’m looking at this game for effort more than results. A significant % of our team won’t even be on the field, especially on defense. I think #3 will have a great game though and so hopefully that will pull us through.

I simply want to see effort. No mailing, phoning, texting, or in any other way sending it in…show up and play with passion, purpose in person.

  3. Supersam Says:

I’ve learned not to count my chickens before the eggs hatch with this team, and Jameis as well. Wasn’t he supposed to torch a weak Saints secondary? Yea well I’m gonna wait until the game is over before I crown a winner. The Bears will be playing tough, there not gonna let there ex coach roll over them.

  4. ndog Says:

Supersam I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, tennessee is not that far away. If you like them so much feel free to move and you know exactly what I mean.

  5. BrianBucs Says:

After watching the Bears last week, they really do look like a team that has packed it in already.
On another note, interesting that the Bucs are continuing to play teams this year that are either in the midst of a long losing streak or just coming off of one

  6. Buccfan37 Says:

Sounds good but I’ll keep a wait and see attitude. I do think the Bucs should win this game. 7 wins will be decent. Go Bucs!

  7. Captain Crunch Says:

For some reason the bucs usually play down to their opponents, they lose to teams they should beat and squeak out a win against teams they should struggle with. So we’ll have to wait and see b/c we’ve seen this before a team they should beat and they come out flat and lose the game.

  8. Mikej ohnson Says:

I would not be so sure the Bears are done. Especially when its against, Which Bucs Defense will show up! We are famous for giving so so QB’s new contracts.
Defense needs to stop people/ And the Offense must score early in the red zone. I’ll not hold my breathe nor predict a Bucs Win. I’ll just watch Cautiously while having a..strong libation. You need one when watching our Bucs.

  9. Warrenfb12 Says:

Every time I hear the media talk about how lowly an upcoming opponent is I officially chalk the game up as a loss. Bucs are currently not a good team, and clearly can be expected to lose any given game.

  10. JonBuc Says:

If the Bears have mailed it in…the Bucs have sent it next day air. The Bucs will probably stumble into a win costing draft spots ( cue the win no matter what crowd ) and give Lovie a stay of execution.

  11. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I don’t think we are in a position to judge.

  12. JonBuc Says:

That’s right…we were gonna win out….everyone who disagreed was a non-fan. Oh BuccaneerBrowneye…you silly goose you!

  13. HarlemBuc Says:

Happy Holidays! I’d like us to shut it down for the season and do serious talent evaluation. Once again we are draft bound so let’s take a real hard look at what we are doing here and going forward… Who’s worth keeping, who needs to go!

  14. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I say trade GMC for 2-3 first rounders. We could replace him AND fix what needs to be foxed. Worked for Jimmy Johnson.

  15. LargoBuc Says:

A huge reason we should win….Bears are in year one of their 3-4 defense and lack alot of pieces. However, our defense is nothing to stress over. And Jay cutler, while he wont be confused for Tom Brady, is no scrub.
I could see our Bucs running all over their front seven and tiring their secondary setting up play action.
    Bears 23 Bucs 31

  16. Tampa Tony Says:

Any team coached by Loser Lovie can’t count any game as a automatic win

  17. No better way to say it Says:

Well if the Vikings passing attack had a good showing I would expect the Bucs to at least move the ball in the air ( the Vikings passing game is horrible. I think TB had 8 or 9 TD passes all year up till that game ).

  18. godzilla13 Says:

It is not wise to say either team is done because I am sure players on both teams want to win. Depends on how the game goes. I predicted the Bucs would lose their last four and I stand by it. If there is a game to win it is next week against the stinking Panthers. Feed Doug Martin and try to give him and our OL the rushing title. Jay Cutler is better than the back-ups we have been facing recently, which spells problems for our secondary. I don’t see us stopping the Bears offense at all. Best bet, control the clock. One more thing.. here is an interesting stat, Bucs are 1-7 when Winston has over 30 pass attempts.

  19. Lefty Says:

Lovie Smith needs to go away. Win, lose or draw these last two games dom’t mean spit..the New Orleans and St. Louis games did and he had his team I’ll prepared to play. Is that going to change? My sources say NO.

There are numerous basements in the Midwest that would love to have Lovie lowering the basket in.

  20. Another J Says:

There’s no such thing as an automatic win, If your team is coached by Lovie Smith!

  21. satchseven Says:

joe kick these lovie haters off the site. team 2-14 got a chance to go 7-9 and cats crying.i think some of these cats want a white guy . any other fan base would be happy
