Joe just cannot believe how long the past 12 months have been, and how much has happened, starting with a new coach, new general manager, new assistant coaches and tons of new players.
Even the most ardent pewter-colored-glasses-wearer must admit virtually every major player transaction, but a scant few, has been a major swing and a miss. [read more]

The votes are in
A brutal, 12-men-on-the-field loss to the Bengals didn’t do much to affect Lovie Smith’s confidence rating among Bucs fans.
But the drubbing in Detroit on Sunday sent it plummeting. [read more]

Former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn, now a FOX analyst, explains what ails the Bucs offense. The problems seem to start and stop at the same spot.
Many NFL analysts, often from ex-quarterbacks, have said that losing an offensive coordinator in preseason or early in a season is the equivalent of throwing a hand grenade in a china shop.
In the case of former offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford and the Bucs, everything he had worked on to fine tune and craft an offense, all the months of film study, the OTAs and minicamps, training camp and preseason games, learning all the traits and weaknesses of his players, was all thrown out the window. Just a tip to the wise: Joe is going to have a story a bit later with interesting insight into why the Bucs offense is as miserable as it is. You’ll want to check back.
Offense was one subject yesterday that was brought up in Lovie Smith’s daily presser, and it seems that the Mike Glennon Mob better take a chill pill. [read more]

Bucs acting offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo is really going to have to outdo himself Sunday after the boneheaded moves the offensive staff has pulled in recent games.
One reason why the Bucs are barreling down I-275 towards the first overall pick in the draft like Joe fleeing from a scorned woman is its offense can’t get out of its own way.
The list of tripped feet is too long and too varied to document. But in consecutive games, the Bucs twice had 12 men on the field blowing up a likely game-winning field goal attempt against the, and then called time out before the first play from scrimmage to start the second half. [read more]

Stinking Panthers coach Ron Rivera confirmed this afternoon Derek Anderson will start at against the Bucs.
Joe is going to guess many Bucs fans will think they are having a shroom flashback Sunday when the hapless Bucs travel to Carolina to face the Stinking Panthers. That’s because it is déjà vu all over again, baby.
In Week One, Stinking Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was hurt and his backup, Carolina’s version of Josh McCown, journeyman Derek Anderson, started for the Stinking Panthers. [read more]

Crab-legs-stealing, BB-gun-shooting, obscenity-hollering, Heisman-Trophy-winning, national champion James Winston, the pride of Florida State University, continues to look like a much better quarterback prospect than Mike Glennon and Josh McCown.

How can Joe suggest that the third-winningest coach in the NFL’s bedrock franchise, the Chicago Bears, has been a bearer of bad luck? That same coach is also the current coach of your gunning-for-the-first-pick-in-the-draft Bucs, Lovie Smith.
Bad luck? That’s how good guy Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com deems Lovie’s checkered past with offensive coordinators. [read more]

This season has been such a kick in the crotch for Bucs fans, this image is all they have to look forward to.
Joe has written so many times over the season how the Bucs fans have quickly become apathetic. There’s no winning. There’s no suspense. There’s no drama.
Shoot, it has gotten so bad, that there are wagers being placed when the losing streak at the Den of Depression (currently a seven-game losing streak dating back to December 2013) is snapped. [read more]

Bucs WR Vincent Jackson showed Sunday why the Bucs need to keep him, despite his bloated salary.
It’s no secret Vincent Jackson is no longer the stud receiver he once was. Shoot, he’s not even the best receiver on his own team.
Rookie Mike Evans is the future. And while V-Jax (“V-Drops”) is inconsistent and not nearly worth the near-$10 million-a-year he is being paid, it might just be penny-wise and pound-foolish to let him walk in the offseason. [read more]
