Not JaMarcus Russell

February 19th, 2015

Jameis Winston is not JaMarcus Russell. The comparison is just ignorant.

This is a big day for Bucs Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston. He will be baptized into the hungry, cynical world of NFL media, which Joe guesses has many members hellbent on putting Winston on trial for an offense for which he was not charged, but “exonerated” of, as Bucs coach Lovie Smith said yesterday.

Previously, Winston was not going to throw at the NFL Scouting Combine. Why should he? He has nothing to gain by throwing. But he changed his mind. Why?

Well, per his personal trainer and quarterback coach George Whitfield, Jameis doesn’t want to be known as the next JaMarcus Russell, so Twittered Alex Marvez of SiriusXM NFL Radio.

Winston haters will come after Joe for this. If one wants to argue Jimbo Fisher never developed a decent NFL quarterback, that’s a fair argument. Fisher also was Russell’s offensive coordinator at LSU. But If you want to argue that Winston is the next Russell, that is just downright stupid.

Russell smoked like a chimney and drank like a fish. And he was lazy. Winston possesses none of those traits.

  1. JFat Says:

Mariota seems to be getting a lot of Russell comparisons too…

“Mariota absolutely killing it in combine interview process. Told he is as/more impressive than R.Wilson was, which is significant.”
    — Louis Riddick (@LRiddickESPN)

  2. Barry Says:

    He’s fat and he’s stupid.

  3. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

More evidence that this is a false comparison:

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/02/19/its-official-jameis-winston-not-as-fat-as-he-was-previously/

[blockquote]If Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was looking a little doughy early in his training, he’s apparently tightened things up.

When Winston was measured at the NFL Scouting Combine, he came in at 6-foot-33/4 and 231 pounds.

He was reportedly around 248 when he began his offseason training in California, which might explain the paunch as much as the elastic tether around his waist. [/blockquote]

And now one of two things will happen. The HATERS will ignore this and continue to call him fat or they will criticize him for being to small. Some will probably do both

    hmmmmmmmmm

smoker and drinker OR rapist and thief

    decisions, decisons….

  5. Robert 9 Says:

I’ve been called ignorant by some really smart people!

of course those same people are lazy know it alls, and I bank 4 times what they do….but hey, they’re smarter than me cause i’m a moran.

  6. Robert 9 Says:

so he only lost 17lbs???? I lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks once when competing in an office pool. went from 230 to 200.

thats pretty weak for weight loss considering whats at steak….or is it crablegs?

the dude in jamarcus russell 2.0.

  7. Lev in Philly Says:

Why would we keep Glennon if we are going to run a “Mariota offense?” This shows that we are going with Winston.

  8. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

The childish comments above show desperation. It makes me laugh. I will laugh even harder when Jameis is TB’s new QB.

    Desperate people lash out.

  9. The Real Malloy Says:

    agree with Robert 9….

Anyone see that gut? And he’s what…21? He’ll be 270 in no time….

Sorry Joe’s, LOVE the site, but much like last year….your QB evaluation is dead wrong.

    Bring on Mariota!

  10. Erik with CleanAthletics.com Says:

Who in their right mind woud want Winston representing their business publicly? I, personally, would NEVER want Winston endorsing my company even if he offered to do it for free. However, I would pay Mariota a hefty sum f ok r his endorsement.

  11. Erik with CleanAthletics.com Says:

    Typo, but whatever

  12. Couch Fan Says:

Winston is using all the hate as fuel to get better. I love it! And hes going to be a BUC!!! Cant Wait!!

  13. bucrightoff Says:

He’ll definitely be FatMarcus 2.0 when he’s on the Jets. You can pretty much book that one.

  14. Supersam Says:

Just read that Marcus Mariota is “killing it” in interviews, I guess GM’S are saying he’s even more impressive than Russell Wilson was. WOW! Welcome to Tampa Mariota

  15. Ian_620WDAE Says:

really people? crab legs, rape, and Jamarcus over and over like a trained parrot.

Fact of the matter is L&L have spoken and his off the field stuff is not a factor. The tape also says Winston is the better on the field QB.

Im fine with either QB but the keyboard warrior attacks on someone none of us know are down right childish

  16. Pickgrin Says:

Those who have needlessly been such harsh critics of Winston pre-draft – are gonna have to put their big boy pants on and take their rightful abuse on these forums once Winston is drafted by the Bucs and starts showing why he was more than worthy of the #1 pick.

  17. Bill Says:

I’d guess 230 is right where he wants to be, 225-235 is a common weight range for an NFL QB.

  18. JFat Says:

Lev, that argument has been debunked many times already.

See Cam/Derek Anderson…Alex Smith/C.Kaepernick…RGIII/K.Cousins. QB styles don’t have to be the same if the OC is worth a sh!t.

  19. Bucs#1 Says:

Jamarcus Winston is going to be a big, fat bust. And if Joe thinks otherwise he may want to take another look at the word he used that started with the letter “i”

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I find the constant defenses of Winston to be amusing…but also very telling.
Imagine if he is drafted….the defenses will continue because he will constantly be under attack….sure winning will mitigate the situation somewhat but who needs a number one overall pick that needs constant defending.
    It is really sad.
I am waiting for Joe to post…..Mariota is not Tim Tebow… for example…..I’m not holding my breath!!!

  21. JFat Says:

@Winstonites – What happens if the Bucs say no to Winston? Is he going to force his way in to the locker room and be our QB anyway?

  22. jp4 Says:

Compare previous bust QBs to Winston all you want – the fact is, JaMarcus Russell, Vince Evans, Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Matt Leinart, Todd Marinovich, etc., etc., all of these guys managed to fool teams into taking them in the first round of the draft. They said the right things, they showed up for meetings, they worked out, they assured NFL execs & coaches that they were committed to football. All had ‘immaturity’ knocks going in.

You simply can never count on an immature person to suddenly ‘get it’, especially once they’re making millions of dollars. Changing outlook and attitude after years of being ‘the star QB’ happens extremely rarely. It’s even more rare for immature QBs to become franchise passers (OK, Brett Favre, Ben Roethlisberger…who else?)

  23. Jeagan1999 Says:

Jamarcus Russell had a successful college footbal career. It wasn’t until he got rich in the NFL that his pro career fell apart. I’m not saying it will happen to Winston, but how do we know what will happen to him when he is multi-millionaire? I don’t think you can call him “Jamrcus 2.0” now, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen in the future. Which is why choosing the right QB at #1 is so important!

  24. Kingpin1 Says:

I’m was the biggest Winston hater the last couple of years. Can’t stand the dude, but my love for the Bucs is bigger than my hate of Winston. If they draft Winston I will be his biggest supporter. If everyone knew what I have done in high school and college I would have never had a job. He is a kid and if he gets thru all the vetting and interviews and becomes #1 pick then I will forget and forgive like so many people have done for me. I’m actually rooting for him now! Go Bucs!!!!!

  25. jp4 Says:

And before someone posts in with ‘What about Cam Newton?’…I will say people need to wait a few more years to determine whether Cam will ultimately be a better career QB for Carolina than Jake Delhomme.

  26. Robert 9 Says:

the guy has a beer belly at what 21-22 years old?

at that age I could NOT gain weight. I lifted, was shredded, but I could not gain weight with all the GNC stuff.

I guy in his profession, with his amount of activity, should not have a gut like that PERIOD. END OF STORY.

I gut like that at his age, he’ll be Sapp’s size within 10 years, and be a fat slob within 6 month’s if he is not handed the starting spot and rolls to glory.

we know thats not happening with this o-line.

jamarcus winston in tampa = bust

in new england or somewhere where they could control him maybe not, but here he’ll be out of the league in under 5 years.

if he’s lucky and stops raping white women he might get an endorsement for nutrisystem.

  27. Supersam Says:

Choosing Winston over Mariota will be the biggest mistake this franchise has made. Mark it down. Winston may or may not be a tad bit better than Mariota is right now, but Mariota had an extremely bright future. I’ve been a Bucs fan since 97 and I will have a really hard time supporting this team if they draft Winston.

  28. ChargedCBH Says:

Love the site Joe, hate your fans comments. The only reason they bring up Russell is b/c he is black. Why else would you bring up Vince Evans? OMG, all these fans that know everything. Why don’t you start naming names of people the Bucs should take.

  29. MarshallU Says:

For all of you Winston groupies and man-crushers, go look up what Jamarcus Russell’s college OC at LSU, Jimbo Fisher, said about him, how he defended and promoted him when he entered the draft and see how much of that sounds very, very familiar

  30. White Tiger Says:

Unfortunately, Kid Fameis tripped some Jamarcus Russell-type alarms/red-flags because A) His recent college coach made Jamarcus Russell a household name when he coached at FSU, B) Kid Fameis looked heavy all year, confirmed by the now infaimis “phat” photo circulating around the interwebs, C) his obvious talent, coupled to an equally obvious grating personality/multiple shouting matches between player & coach has been well documented in several games (most notably during the recent College Playoffs)…and D) His InFameis tabletop sexual obscenities directed at innocent underage coeds…all kind of add up to concern that Kid Fameis may be an over-indulged college prodigy with a growing sense of entitlement.

Even though I prefer Mariota in this debate (a debate where our opinions are neither sought, nor appreciated..) I purposely used the word “concern”, instead of stating Kid Fameis “IS” a spoiled athlete with a growing sense of entitlement….because the young man will have every opportunity to present himself to an open minded coaching staff – in the bet possible light and address those concerns as effectively as possible in word and attitude.

  31. Eastsidebuc Says:

Funny how these cats who probably are 5’3 250lbs are calling an athlete fat

  32. Bucs#1 Says:

Maybe after Winston gets his pro contract, he can also get endorsement deals from Jenny Craig and Lane Bryant

  33. bucs4lyfe Says:

That is a stupid ignorant comparison by pathetic fake buc fan haters of Winston that don’t know anything other than what they read or heard on tv. but I know im in a good position because I can accept whichever quarterback they choose but more than half of you hopefully are planning to find another team when we draft Winston…….my reason for wanting Winston is simple, freakin RG3 got benched like twice last season but managed to for a higher completion percentage than both of our quarterback, a guy accused of not knowing how to read defenses. RG3 68%, josh mccown and glennon completed exactly 60% of their passes but glennon is better than mccown lol right. bring it on hoping for Winston but I support my team

  34. Nybucsfan Says:

Lol joe you act like he is an angel. He would be in jail if FSU and the local cops didn’t cover his a$$. Just see what the state attorney said. He is JaMarcus Russell. If the bucs draft him they will be the raiders the next ten years. At least Russell wasn’t a rapist.

  35. ddneast Says:

That’s moron, not moran you idiot. LOL.

  36. crazy Says:

Seems more like Donovan McNabb to me…

  37. Supersam Says:

Jameis Russell, I bet he loves him some Purple Drank.

  38. Robert 9 Says:

    let’s review shall we:

huge, fat slob (at his age thats a whole lot of eating and playing madden)

    *cough* alleged rapist

    theif

    vandal

    maturity issues

    yells at coaches

“WHERE ALL THE WHITE WOMEN AT”?

conclusion – bust. we’ll be lucky to get a trade partner for him.

  39. ddneast Says:

Robert 9, people who are classified as morons would feel insulted if someone of your low intelligence was classified that intelligent.

  40. Robert 9 Says:

^ look, joe got a spell check function!

  41. Supersam Says:

Purple Drank and Crab Leggy’s make Jameis feel goody

  42. Robert 9 Says:

I am pretty inteligent mr double D

  43. lord cornelius Says:

    lmao @ “huge fat slob”

You guys are rediculous. Just freaking rediculous man.

Winston never was known for having a chiseled body. Neither is Peyton Manning or Tom Brady or Ben Roth or a million QBs that have been good.

He’s in fine shape. But haters gonna hate.

  44. Robert 9 Says:

I would have though he would have grabbed some ribs myself. maybe some collard greens and pigs feet

    crab legs aint that fattening

    ————————————————————————————–
is that why you have so much hate for a guy you don’t know? you specifically referenced white women so if she rapes an Asian or black it’s ok? damn I know people who’ve been accused of raped just so they could get jumped by the girls brother because dude wouldn’t give her what he promised and she basically gave her body up for the promise of something. ever heard about the football player accused of rape and spent his athletic years in prison, girl finally confessed and he was let out of jail a few years ago, signed with an nfl team but couldn’t cut it because of age? theres more evidence of quarterbacks failing in the nfl than Winston type quarterbacks….a very long list, akili smith was athletic. but at the same time if he turned out to be a Jason Campbell type player even that is extremely disappointing for a first overall pick but jamarcus Russell is going to o far people

  46. bucs4lyfe Says:

    @Robert 9

I don’t usually spell check people but when your spitting hate at someone on a blog site and you have to defend your own intelligence lol you gotta look at that dude that’s just bad. I hope your in elementary or something because we’d forgive you if you are

  47. Supersam Says:

Why do you think that white cheerleader from the Bucs retired yesterday? She heard we were drafting Jameis and thought oh god he’s gonna spike my water bottle and I’m gonna wake up with him on top of me!

  48. Yungry Says:

Come on guys he won’t be the next JaMarcus Russell! The next Shawn King is more like it…

  49. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Robert 9

I am a Mariota supporter…….(doesn’t necessarily mean I am adamantly opposed to Winston)

I believe your posts are forcing the Winston supporters to “circle the wagons” and dig in.

There are reasons to be concerned about Winston without accusing him of rape or worse….declaring him a rapist.

JBF permits posters great lattitude with their posts….so, you can probably continue as you wish…..but I respectfully request that you temper the posts on the rape allegations.

  50. Baker Ryan Says:

Will somebody please go look at Jboo’s Instagram picture of he and his girlfriend at the beach from last summer , right before the season started? He was fat and flabby then, right before the season started. At 20 years old and a two sport athlete, he should not look like that, period, much less right before the season starts. That to me , is every indication that he is lazy and has a questionable work ethic. A lot like Jamarcus Russell was, contrary to what uber bias, adjective laden , Tricia cusmano in the spank bank Joe has to say .

  51. Couch Fan Says:

Mariota is having issues hearing people at the podieum. Can’t take a QB with hearing issues.

  52. Supersam Says:

He should change his name from famous Jameis, to Famous Amos. The cookie king!

  53. Skyline Crew Says:

He decided to throw because Mariota did. Wonder why he decided to throw immediately after it came out that Mariota was going to throw. Wasn’t because of Russell, I don’t can’t what his handler says.

  54. Eric Says:

Mariota is way more likely to add his name to the long list of failures coming from Oregon hyped offense:

    Akili Smith
    Joey Harrington
    Kellen Clemens
    Dennis Dixon
    Darron Thomas

As a matter of fact thus far the success rate for that group has been zero. Failure rate 100%

Lots of great college stats though, Tons of TD’s and yardage and hardly any INT’s

Yea lets attach ourselves to that wagon.

  55. Skyline Crew Says:

Nope he is compared to Eli Manning and I don’t want any part of that mediocre QB play. Bring me Mariota and let’s win a Superbowl.

  56. Skyline Crew Says:

Yeah, lets attach ourselves to the FSU wagon. Ridiculous and stupid comment by you Eric. I expected more from you than literally pulling sh!t out of your arse.

  57. Skyline Crew Says:

Brad Johnson is the last FSU player to barely do anything. I don’t think that is anything to hang your hat on. The rest have been bums and suck coming out of FSU, but let’s compare a player to the other players that came out of his program. That means we can’t take Winston and we can’t take Mariota, but because Oregon and FSU don’t produce quality QBs. Good reason Eric…Good reason.

  58. Nybucsfan Says:

@ Eric I think Jimbo has had 3 first round bust in the last ten years so clearly he does something in his system that makes them appear better than they are. How may first round QB draft out of Oregon in the last five?

  59. Eric Says:

Well the performance of the Oregon high powered QB’s in the NFL is zero.

    It is a fact.

The success rate in the pros of QB’s running a similar offense is very low.

  60. Yungry Says:

The Glazers tried to hire Chip Kelly then Jeff Tedford(spread) also. Then, draft the perfect running back for the spread attack named Charles Sims… It obvious the Glazers love the style and write the checks… Mariota all day!

  61. jp4 Says:

It’s a waste of time talking about ‘type’, whether you are going to rage on about comparing races or raging about how much one QB weighs compared to another. The question is about whether an immature QB can commit himself and make necessary sacrifices & accept criticism in a mature, constructive way and play better and not worse with more experience. This has nothing to do with body type or skin color.

Immature QBs have come into the league who are fat/thin, black/white, pocket passer/athletic scrambler – the point is that almost none of these immature individuals ever became franchise players…mainly due to their immaturity!

  62. Eric Says:

Smith was first overall. Harrington 3rd I think.

    Huge busts.

Next year you will see another Oregon QB put up big numbers. Happens every year.

Foolish to think Mariota can be the very first one to make it in pro football.

  63. Skyline Crew Says:

Out of all of those players you listed Eric, Akili was the only one that threw over 3,000 yds @ 3,763. The rest never broke it. Both Mariota and Winston have broken 4,000 yds.

    TD/INT ratio

    Akili – 45/15
    Joey – 59/23
    Kellen – 61/24
    Dennis – 38/21
    Darron – 66/17

    Mariota – 105/14
    Winston – 65/28

Seems like Winston fits in that crowd more than Mariota does. Having almost 40 more TDs than Darron. Yet, you are right we should compare them since Mariota is heads and shoulders above the rest of the people. However, Winston seems to fit in perfectly with his TD/INT ratio as you like to look at.

  64. Skyline Crew Says:

    ********

Ah, so you are scared of change. Why didn’t you say so.

  65. Underdog Says:

I love the Bucs and they are my favorite team. I have no favorite players in this draft, no college affiliation here and feel like I can be 100% totally objective.
My personal opinion is that the Bucs should really try to trade out of that spot at the top of the draft and get as many picks and players as possible because they need them. The Bucs are a long way off from being a continual contender and have far too many weaknesses that need addressed. In what is a weak draft I don’t see a single player that is worth that #1 pick but hopefully another team might.
I know that the Bucs fans want them to use that pick on a QB because it is the exciting, sexy pick but a new QB will not help this team at this point. Bring in an experienced QB to compete with Glennon while you try to solidify the roster.
I think that the very best offseason aquisition that the Bucs could make they already have and that is hiring Dirk Koetter who will put a good offensive scheme and playbook together. However, he will still need several pieces to make it successful.
The defense I think will come around, but there are still several important pieces missing there also. Leonard Williams would be a great piece, but as unblockable and dominating as he is he is still only one piece.
Lovie Smith and Jason Licht did not have great success if free agency last year so this year has Bucs fans a little nervous but hopefully last year taught them both something.
So basically that is my synopsis and my opinion. Whatever they decide to do I will be fine with, just hopefully they make the right moves and help our team we love become winners again.
    GO BUCS!

  66. Skyline Crew Says:

Let’s go further Eric, I haven’t seen a Samoan QB make it in the NFL either. He shouldn’t even try to make it. The success rate for Black QBs is very low. It is foolish to think any of that will ever change. Good points Eric.

  67. Eric Says:

Skyline you are mixing apples and oranges.

The point is no matter how awesome the stats look not a single one has made it work in the NFL.

Not even marginally work in the NFL.

Thomas threw 63 td’s in two years at Oregon and can barely hang on in the arena league and Canada.

  68. Eric Says:

Race has nothing to do with it. But history shows the system has a tremendous amount to do with it.

And Marcus is in a system that has had negligible success in pro football.

Its a big honker of a humongous risk.

  69. bucrightoff Says:

Eric and Skyline going back and forth, neglecting that there are 0 Heisman winners and 0 National Title winners in the current top 10 QBs. In fact it might even be 0 for the top 15 (have to think a bit more about who’d be in the top 15 for that one). Oregon QBs suck, FSU QBs suck, Heisman winners suck. Thus, they both suck.

  70. Skyline Crew Says:

I don’t think their stats were that great. They didn’t throw for a lot of yards and the QBR was low in the 150s. Akili was the only one that showed the wow factor with stats. Great that Thomas threw for 63 TDs in 2 years, but he only threw for 5,500 yds, which isn’t a lot.

Anyways, like I said there is no point in comparing Mariota to them because he is obviously much much much better than there ever were. Also, FSU QBs suck in the NFL, but made it work at FSU. So then I shouldn’t trust any QB that Jimbo puts out, nor one that FSU puts out.

    ************
I bet you find more traditional offensive QBs that fail than spread option ones. Why? Because spread option QBs were in the minority, but now they are everywhere in college football, which is why the past few drafts have had them in it. I would say 2 of the TOP 10 QBs are spread QBs in college.

9 of the TOP 10 QBs run spread offensives in the NFL. Brady didn’t have a spread offense this year. Russell Wilson who runs a spread offense has been to the SB twice and should have won it twice. It works just fine in the NFL. Wilson/Rodgers/Manning/Brees all throw in spread offenses.

Wilson ran for almost 900 yds last year. More than any other year. Newton was 2nd in QB rushing yds. It works fine as long as you have a coach that uses it. The Dixon went to the Steelers who don’t use it. Why would you expect him to not use his strengths, but excel? Doesn’t make sense. Also, why are we talking about Darron Thomas? He wasn’t even drafted in the NFL.

.500 QB? lol what is glennon any better? i’m not a Giants fan nor am I a fan of eli manning but 31 other teams have a better quarterback than we do including eli manning. for the tampa bay buccaneers even E.J. Manuel would be an upgrade, we cant dog anyone’s quarterback because no one has been more consistently bad at quarterback play than this franchise. truth be told it’s 100 times worse now than it was while josh freeman was here hahaha that’s how bad our quarterback situation is. jamarcus Russell is an upgrade over glennon lol so is freeman

  79. Eric Says:

Nobody but Chip is running anything like the Oregon offense in the NFL. We aren’t going to be either.

And no QB with any success in the NFl has come from the Oregon offense.

    Zero.

    Those are the facts.

  80. Robert 9 Says:

I respectfully submit that my opinion is as good as any other’s who are simply looking at his on the field accomplishments.

The guy is a scumbag. tempered enough?

  81. Skyline Crew Says:

Keep the blinders on Eric. Stay strong in your fight. No one cares about Oregon more than you. Place Mariota in the Seahawks, 49ers, Packers, Broncos, Steelers, Panthers, or even Saints offense and he will do fine. Put him in a Lovie system where you do run-run-pass and I’m sure any QB will fail. The fact that you think he can only run an Oregon offense is laughable. A spread is a spread is a spread. Bootlegs and options are what the Seahawks did.

  82. Robert 9 Says:

friggin double standards. someone has to point them out. it’s sad that a simpleton like me can lure people into pointing them out clearly.

  84. Robert 9 Says:

and yes bucs4lyfe. thats a sad tale about the guy that was falsely accused. I believe he tried for the Falcons last year and now is proving to be an inspiration to many. Kudo’s to him. I great man indeed. what was the ethnicity of the accuser?

  85. bucs4lyfe Says:

ethnicity aside it doesn’t really matter but I guarantee you that if your convicted of rape it follows you the rest of your life if your a nobody or not, even if he did nothing wrong and it truly innocent he will forever regret it as you can see from all the haters that want him to be a scumbag, want him to be guilty so bad. when your in football it doesn’t matter if your guilty or not. if it’s true that after the incident she was on facebook praising Winston lol no one will care because it was pre accusation of rape. if the accusation involved date rape drug which she claimed but wasn’t true and no one talks about then I would be on the hate wagon but to keep holding something against somebody they were exonerated of and it happened 2 years ago that’s pure hate…..I hope we draft him just to piss off all the haters, go find another team. the NFL is about winning, fans like winners so being down on someone for what happened in college before being drafted by us isn’t going to happen

Marcus might do fine. But his predecessors surely have not.

Thus its likelihood of success is very low.

  87. Robert 9 Says:

    winning isn’t everything.

    write that down.

I have been falsely investigated for something almost equally as disgusting as winston…..so I know how it feels if he is in fact innocent. that being said, my actions were the ploar opposite of his response which leads to my line of thinking he could very well have done it……and speaking from an building full of attorneys, I can say whole heartedly the entire legal system is a joke.

“in new england or somewhere where they could control him maybe not, but here he’ll be out of the league in under 5 years.

if he’s lucky and stops raping white women he might get an endorsement for nutrisystem.”

  89. bucs4lyfe Says:

winning isn’t everything? dude your talking about life so yes you need to get your own seriously all of you that are soo adamant about not wanting the bucs to draft Winston need to get a life. the bottom line is football is entertainment and you view it for entertainment even though the bucs have not been entertaining for over a decade ok. if football is living your life or raising your kids you need to get your priorities in life with reality. the number 1 reason I want Winston is because I think he can help our team win more than Winston. there are plenty of scumbags and rapist in florida a lot of them that go unnoticed, you’ll notice this guy because he is high profile and in the news, god forbid he affects your lives beyond a newspaper article, if your worried about your daughter getting raped by a player of the most popular sport in America at the most publicized and scrutinized and most important position in the game your a pathetic parent. how can your daughter go out with this guy who everyone knows was accused of rape and you have no clue. it would be because your not involved in her life…..stop putting this all on yourself and stop being so petty. my daughter doesn’t go out with a man unless I’ve met him but that’s as far as I know, people will do what they want to men AND women and chances are this girl whoever she was knew what time it was as soon as she was alone with this man just like any woman knows when she is with a rapper or basketball player or rockstar.

the guy has a beer belly at what 21-22 years old?

at that age I could NOT gain weight.

So as long as he’s raping black women, then its ok?

and with that comment, i now know how you REALLY feel about the kid and others “like” him.

I hope you plan to start supporting another team if he is drafted. We (Bucs fans and the world) need less people like you around.

    Goodbye. You won’t be missed.

Why do you think that white cheerleader from the Bucs retired yesterday? She heard we were drafting Jameis and thought oh god he’s gonna spike my water bottle and I’m gonna wake up with him on top of me!

I wonder what the underlying tones of this statement REALLY mean…

    Skyline Crew Says:

He decided to throw because Mariota did. Wonder why he decided to throw immediately after it came out that Mariota was going to throw. Wasn’t because of Russell, I don’t can’t what his handler says.

So let me get this straight…you complain when he initially decides not to throw, and now that he’s decided TO throw, you still have an issue?

It’s going to be quite amusing to read all these comments over the next 70 days. We can pontificate all we want, but in the end the organization (the owners) will make the decision they feel is best. Maybe they haven’t always struck gold in the past but they are engaged and keep trying. As a long suffering fan, I will hope that we get this one right. What other choice do we have, quit our loyalty and become Jets fans? GTFOTB

I’ve been called ignorant by some really smart people!

of course those same people are lazy know it alls, and I bank 4 times what they do….but hey, they’re smarter than me cause i’m a moran.

    ————————-

It’s spelled M-O-R-O-N… You figure as many times as you’ve been called it, you’d at least know how to spell it.

And it’s not about how much you “bank”. You’re still an angry little person that gets far too much enjoyment out of negativity and putting others down which shows you suffer from a severe lack of self-esteem. With all of that money you’re supposedly banking, perhaps you should join a gym or take a self-defense class, because it is only way too obvious that sand has been kicked in your face on a regular basis.

so he only lost 17lbs???? I lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks once when competing in an office pool. went from 230 to 200.

thats pretty weak for weight loss considering whats at steak….or is it crablegs?

the dude in jamarcus russell 2.0.
    ———————-
Oh no! More damning evidence of how freaking STUPID you are. You lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks… and you think that is a good thing? IF you were really stupid enough to lose 30 lbs in 3 weeks, there’s no way you lost ANY more than 10 pounds of fat. You can’t safely cut 30 lbs in 3 weeks without losing a ton of lean mass…so in other words, Winston losing 17 lbs since the end of the season, means he lost 17 lbs of fat if he was doing it right, and I’m sure he was. You, on the other hand, are bragging about losing close to 20 lbs of lean mass…that is, if you had any to begin with.

Right… It’s called science, you eat more calories than you burn and you gain weight. You lift hard and you gain muscle. In a great year you can expect to gain maybe 8 lbs of muscle. Those years add up… of course you are way too stupid to understand science or math so of course it didn’t work for you.

  97. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

Guys I think you may be missing Robert 9’s humor…he is most likely deliberately misspelling moron as moran specifically to get a raise out of the “you’re stupid” group of posters here? You should all be used to this type of hook, Joe uses it frequently by beating the drum for QB’s that are lightning rods for discussion (and website clicks)…Manziel last year, Winston this year. Relax, enjoy the mindless banter back and forth with fellow Bucs fans who’s opinion is just as useless and meaningless as your own…it’s a blog with some cool Buc’s insight provided free of charge by the Joes, don’t take it so serious
