The Bucs offense has been a dumpster fire this year. Not much of a running game. Sketchy blocking. Quarterbacking that would make any cheerleader play ostrich.
Despite this — despite this! — the top two Bucs receivers have had outstanding seasons. Mike Evans may be the rookie of the year. [read more]
The “artist” formerly known as Buccaneers offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford has a new job — while his old team has a game Sunday in Tampa.
Man, Hollywood screenwriters couldn’t have concocted what’s happened to the Bucs the past two seasons. [read more]
Oh, once the NFL released the schedule this past April revealing the Bucs were going to host the Packers the weekend prior to Christmas, Joe knew the cheeseheads would flock to the Den of Depression.
The game didn’t take long to sell out, as just about every Packers fan, both tranplanted locally or residing north of I-80, seemed ready to celebrate Christmas on the west coast of the east coast with their beloved Packers. [read more]
Yes, Bucs fans are disgusted by defensive end Michael Johnson, who signed for gigantic cash in March. Johnson has treated Bucs fans to three sacks and about three halves of good football all season.
One former Buccaneer says Johnson’s effort is unforgiveable. [read more]
Florida State icon and Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks serves up a strong opinion
Crab-legs-stealing, BB-gun-shooting, obscenity-hollering, Heisman-Trophy-winning, national champion James Winston, the pride of Florida State University, continues to look like a much better quarterback prospect than Mike Glennon and Josh McCown.
It’s Joe’s daily nugget on the Jameis Watch, celebrating the best quarterback to wear No. 5 ever in the state of Florida. [read more]
Lovie weighed in today
The fact Lovie Smith is giving right tackle Demar Dotson a test drive at left tackle is a sure sign that Dotson, to some degree, is returning as a starter next year.
The Bucs’ play at offensive line has been lousy this season. And while Dotson won’t quite get people to forget Dan Dierdorf, he’s been the best player on the line. [read more]
One linchpin of the Bucs’ offensive overhaul this offseason was the signing of former Packers center Evan Dietrich-Smith.
While EDS isn’t an awful center, one could argue he wasn’t an upgrade from Jeremy Zuttah, and the Packers haven’t exactly fallen apart having replaced him with a rookie from Ohio State, Corey Linsley. [read more]
Since the day Da’Quan Bowers was drafted in 2011, Bucs fans have been waiting for him to burst out with the talents he showcased as a premier college defensive end.
Now on his third coaching staff and second general manager, Bowers has only flashed a stray play here or there, nothing close to his potential when he came out of Clemson. [read more]
The last time the Bucs faced the Packers, Bucs CB Myron Lewis found out the hard way that Packers WR Jordy Nelson is among the NFL elite.
In the past month, the secondary of the Bucs has been rather decent. No, really.
In the past four games, the Bucs have given up an average of 215 passing yards a game. Now granted, the Bucs faced questionable quarterbacks in bratty Jay Cutler (who has since been benched) and puking Andy Dalton and backup Derek Anderson. [read more]
Leave it to a former Buccaneers quarterback to make a great point backing up his assertion that Tampa Bay is in for a painful “old fashioned woodshed” beating at the hands of the Packers on Sunday. [read more]
Nothing like a seven-round mock draft to get the juices of hope flowing on a Thursday afternoon — when your beloved team is 2-12 a week before Christmas. [read more]
Joe has already brought word how in games after Aaron Rodgers and the Packers lose, Rodgers plays simply lights out football.
What did the Packers do last week? They lost at Buffalo. Gulp. [read more]
Sane and sober Bucs fans realize Tampa Bay is more than a season away from a legitimate run at a Super Bowl.
A case could even be made that this year’s Bucs have taken a full step backwards. Last year, at least, the Bucs had more wins and were developing a young quarterback. [read more]
Surprises of this Buccaneers season include Luke Stocker making the roster, Luke Stocker staying healthy, and Luke Stocker becoming one of the most versatile guys in the offense. [read more]
Last year, the Bucs (4-12) lost three close games to winning football teams, the Saints, Cardinals and Seahawks, by a combined eight points.
This season, Tampa Bay (2-12) has lost just one close game to a winning football team: the Cincinnati Bengals. [read more]
What’s Josh McCown worth to the Buccaneers?
Oh, stop. Be nice.
McCown is slated to earn $5.25 million next season, per Rotoworld.com, roughly nine times the salary of Mike Glennon. [read more]
Yesterday seemed to be Mike Glennon Day at One Buc Palace.
The affable and polite Bucs quarterback of the past and quarterback of the future but not quarterback of the present was available to speak with the local pen and mic club. [read more]

Gulp!

Last week, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers dropped perhaps the biggest No. 2 of his career in an awful, un-Rodgers-like performance in western New York. [read more]
