Bryan Anger is one of the better punters in the NFL, but he needs to reduce his workload the rest of this season. The Bucs require maximum possessions to compensate for a historically bad defense.
Unless it’s fourth-and-9 from the Tampa Bay 22, Anger should remain on the sidelines. OK, that’s an exaggeration, but you get my point. (more…)
The Bucs did some things very well Sunday in Atlanta, but the details did them in. This football team isn’t good enough to overcome key mistakes — and Tampa Bay made too many of them in dropping to 2-3.
Gerald McCoy can’t be flagged for an illegal use of the hands penalty on a 3rd-and-11 incompletion early in the second quarter. Instead of settling for a field goal, the Falcons scored on the next play.
“The funeral” is over, says Derrick Brooks, and the Bucs season has new life after the bye.
Professor Brooks talks about studying “foundational tape,” approaching an elite Atlanta passing game, “stance, alignment assignment” and more with JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman in TAMPA TWO, presented by Caldeco Air Conditioning & Heating.

On the surface, a 2-2 record is nothing to panic over. This two-game losing streak may be unsettling, but the Bucs are only one game out of the division lead at the quarter-pole, with a road win over first-place New Orleans in the bank. (more…)
If you would have known that the Bucs were going to split their first four games this season, you would have been thrilled.
Now, you’re pissed.
As they have too many times in recent memory, the Bucs failed to show up for a road game. They deserved every bit of that 48-10 drubbing at Soldier Field, where conditions were perfect and Tampa Bay’s execution was anything but. (more…)
This game has all the subtlety of a Mike Tyson left hook.
If you’re seeking an incisive preview of Sunday’s matchup at Soldier Field, look no further than Tyson’s immortal quote when asked about his boxing philosophy: (more…)

Great stuff today from Mr. Derrick Brooks and the Sage of Tampa Bay sports. Man, you can just feel the passion and appreciation Brooks has for a certain Buccaneer who he studied on Monday night.
Tampa Bay’s 2-1 getaway isn’t a fluke, but it’s not sustainable. If the Bucs don’t run the ball more efficiently or tighten up defensively, this promising season will slip away. (more…)
