So I’m sitting at home Sunday evening, thumbing through the Bucs media guide, when word came down about John Lynch’s new gig.

Surprise, surprise.

What a kick in the head as I was in the process of finalizing my upcoming speech for Lynch’s candidacy to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2017. Minutes after word leaked out that Lynch will be the next GM of the forlorn San Francisco 49ers, I sent him a text: (more…)

After a three-year brain fart, the NFL has come to its senses and restored the Pro Bowl’s traditional AFC vs. NFC format.

Thankfully, we didn’t have to witness the spectacle of Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice trying to divvy up the rosters, but let’s not get carried away — this game still stinks.

In honor of Sunday night’s matchup at Camping World Stadium, here’s one man’s version of the all-time Buccaneer Pro Bowl squad. (more…)

If the Bucs are to emerge as a league power in the fall, they must add a few significant pieces on each side of the ball.

They need to find a true No. 2 receiver, revive a feeble ground game and show more toughness against the run. They can’t finish last in field-goal percentage or allow 34 completions of more than 25 yards.

One more thing — Jameis Winston has to be a better quarterback. (more…)

NFL players have been knocking heads for almost a century and the letters TD have always stood for touchdown.

Every once in awhile, the guys who astutely run this website have to be slapped back into reality.

This is one of those moments.

The same pundits who foolishly labeled Mark Dominik a “rock star” and prematurely assigned Jameis Winston with the title “America’s Quarterback” are now giddy with the prospect of the Bucs going hog wild in the offseason. (more…)

A little perspective, people.

I’m not defending Antonio Brown’s dumb decision to film the proceedings in the Steelers’ locker room for the world to see after Sunday night’s emotional playoff win at Kansas City. (more…)

The Bucs developed mental toughness in 2016, but as Clint Eastwood said to Hillary Swank in Million Dollar Baby, “girlie, tough ain’t enough.”

This franchise is now a $1.5 billion baby, according to Forbes, and let’s not forget Tampa Bay also made strides on the soft side en route to a 9-7 record.

After their first winning season since 2010, Buc players were quick to credit team camaraderie as a vital ingredient in their success. (more…)
