Voice of the Bucs, Gene Deckerhoff, has lofty expectations for the pewter pirates with America’s Quarterback barking signals.
Back in training camp, Joe talked to longtime Buccaneers play-by-play man Gene Deckerhoff. He is one of the very few (maybe the only one working; Joe can’t find the answer) who worked the microphone for both a Super Bowl winner and a college football champion.
Deckerhoff, of course, is the voice of the Florida State Seminoles. Joe chatted with Deckerhoff about America’s Quarterback, Bucs rookie signal-caller Jameis Winston, and what made the kid special and the Bucs’ No. 1 overall pick. (more…)
When Joe last talked to Herm Edwards, the BSPN personality and former Bucs coach had just dined the night before with his good friend Lovie Smith. (more…)
Joe’s been around town quite a bit the past few days and the collective Bucs-fan freakout is astounding. From poker tables to barber shops, it’s everywhere. (more…)
Free Mike Glennon! Joe’s all for it. Grab a good trade deal and sign a veteran.
A new CBS Sports report predicts the Bucs will find hungry buyers soon. (more…)
Right guard Ali Marpet was abused tonight. Logan Mankins was beaten badly a couple of times and looks nothing like the guy who played for the Patriots.
And Evan Smith isn’t playing average ball yet. (more…)
Joe would have no issue if the Bucs replaced starting center Evan Smith with rising former fourth-stringer Jeremiah Warren. (more…)

Man, it was like Joe was watching two different teams. Ten days ago, in their first at-bat of the 2015 preseason, the Bucs didn’t look better than they were last year.
Last night? Geez. Where has this team been? (more…)
SiriusXM NFL Radio dropped by One Buc Palace as part of its annual Training Camp Tour, when a three-hour show is devoted to just one team. Thursday was the Bucs’ turn.
Co-host and former Bucs defensive tackle Booger McFarland noted that “America’s Quarterback,” Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, won’t just have to master being an NFL quarterback.
Young Jameis must survive the perils of the mean streets of Tampa. (more…)
Joe absolutely has to give it up to Lovie Smith.
Congratulations, Coach. Joe smells real positive change from a man known for sticking to his plan at all costs. (more…)
Well, that didn’t take very long, did it?
Less than a day after Lovie Smith crowed that middle linebacker Kwon Alexander played “outstanding” in his first NFL preseason game, Alexander was tagged as the starting MLB until or unless he is beaten out for the job.
And we all know how stingy Lovie is about passing around compliments, right Johnthan Banks? (more…)

Johnthan Banks’ defense of a would-be Vikings touchdown apparently wasn’t good enough for Lovie Smith, eeerr, Ronde Barber.
Joe is freaking fed up with this Mike Jenkins nonsense. For anyone — even the head coach — to suggest to Joe or to Bucs fandom that Jenkins, a first-round bust thrown overboard by both the Cowboys and the rotten Raiders, should be starting over Johnthan Banks is an absolute insult.
What Jenkins has done to deserve Lovie Smith’s undying affection is lost on Joe. Something isn’t right. (more…)
There exists a massive, unhealthy level of tension among Bucs fans. And it won’t fade until Tampa Bay has a winning record again.
So Joe gets why Teddy Bridgewater carving up the Bucs’ first-team defense (7-for-8 for 86 yards) last night has fans freaked out. Joe talked to Gerald McCoy about it after the game. (more…)
Your Bucs were back at it for their fourth consecutive day of training camp practice at One Buc Palace. The sun was broiling and Joe’s got a pile of his famous notes and observations.
Enjoy! (more…)
Rain delayed today’s training camp practice by 90 minutes, but the Bucs got their full work in and Joe’s got your need-to-know notes and observations. (more…)

Finally! Sunshine and broiling humid conditions at One Buc Palace for training camp. Order is restored. Joe’s got all kinds of goodies and your need to know from Day 4.
Enjoy! (more…)
Joe and other media types who saw Gerald McCoy practice all through the spring surely would say he was in fine shape. Perhaps the best shape of his career.
But a lot has changed in the six weeks since Tampa Bay left minicamp in June. (more…)

Logan Mankins (r) reported in A-list shape in April. Evan (Dietrich) Smith (l) was quite a bit softer.
Not only are the Bucs confident in Logan Mankins reviving his borderline Hall of Fame career, one that derailed last year with the absence of a barbecue venue, a key Bucs official has called him the “father of the locker room.” (more…)
