Boy, yesterday when it was announced that former Bucs defensive end, ghostly, Snuggle-soft Michael Johnson inked a pact with the Bengals, Bucs fans erupted in anger.

Let’s just say few will have Johnson on their Christmas card list after such a shadowy season. (more…)

Today is Marcus Mariota Day at One Buc Palace, where the University of Oregon quarterback plans to get to know Lovie Smith, Team Glazer and Jason Licht.

Last night, it was Joe’s turn to get to know Mariota. (more…)

So where will the Buccaneers find offensive line help? (more…)

Per BSPN, this morning the Bengals embraced their homesick son, ghostly and ghastly former Bucs defensive end Michael Johnson.

Good for Johnson. He robbed Team Glazer and now goes back to where he wanted to be all along. Joe wonders what kind of excuse Johnson’s agent will find when Johnson continues to stink.

“Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota is regularly asked about how he’s going to transition from the wacky University of Oregon offense to the NFL.

Yesterday in New Orleans, he put a new spin on his answer. (more…)

Mike Evans (above) and Vincent Jackson will give Jameis Winston a fine pair of targets to help the rookie ease into the NFL.

Put a gun to Joe’s head and Joe still couldn’t tell you who the Bucs will draft No. 1 overall.

Oh, sure, all signs point to Jameis Winston. Notice you can hear and read all sorts of people talkng about Marcus Mariota falling to the Redskins or the Jets, or even to the Eagles, but you never hear or read that about Winston. (more…)

In some ways, Bucs coach Lovie Smith has been living a charmed life.

Since 2003, only three coaches who guided their teams to the worst record in the NFL survived to coach the same team the following season. That list includes Marty Schottenheimer, Steve Spagnuolo and Lovie. (more…)

Joe already brought you the insightful, fresh take of former Bucs defensive end Steve White about the Buccaneers’ pass rush.

And now Joe’s got White’s fingers-crossed look at brand new Tampa Bay linebacker Bruce Carter. (more…)

Former Bucs ghostly defensive end, Snuggle-soft Michael Johnson, doesn’t seem as if he will be unemployed long. Per the fingers of Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, two teams are begging for Johnson’s image services: the Vikings and the Bengals. (more…)

Crab-legs-stealing, BB-gun-shooting, obscenity-hollering, Heisman-Trophy-winning, former national champion Jameis Winston, the pride of Florida State University, continues to look like a much better quarterback prospect than Mike Glennon.

It’s Joe’s daily nugget on the Jameis Watch, celebrating the best quarterback ever to wear No. 5 in the state of Florida. (more…)

Forget about the Bucs’ dreadful offensive line play for a moment and focus on numbers.

The Bucs let two major O-line contributors walk out the door this week and haven’t replaced them. (more…)

“Chris Conte’s litany of health problems last season reads like an entire team’s injury report — right shoulder, concussion, left shoulder, another concussion, right shoulder again, right eye and back.”

That’s how a recent Chicago Tribune feature on new Bucs safety Chris Conte begins. (more…)

Just on paper, the big free agent signing for the Bucs is linebacker Bruce Carter (thus far, remember, Greg Hardy is still a fish unhooked).

Solid and fast in pass coverage, versatile, Joe is of the mind Carter will replace Mason Foster at middle linebacker. (more…)

Marcus Mariota got a backhanded compliment from one of his biggest supporters

As Joe wrote previously, reviews of Marcus Mariota at his University of Oregon pro day yesterday were mixed. (more…)

Henry Melton surely won’t drag down the anemic Bucs pass rush.

If the Bucs don’t find someone to get double-digit sacks this season, it will have marked 10 years — 10 friggin’ years! — since a Tampa Bay defensive lineman had 10 or more sacks.

The last man to do that? You guessed it: Simeon Rice. (more…)

The polls are closed, and nothing was rigged.

Joe’s 24-hour survey of Buccaneers fans revealed a resounding shout to Team Glazer, Lovie Smith and Jason Licht to pursue defensive end Greg Hardy. (more…)

Bucs general manager Jason Licht was at Marcus Mariota’s pro day at the University of Oregon yesterday, and (coincidentally?) Mariota will be in Tampa on Monday for a visit, per the Twittering of Bucs beat writer Rick Stroud. (more…)

Where’s your T.J. Fatinikun jersey?

Smile, haters. This is not a negative post about your Buccaneers.
