Jameis Watch: Fourth Time Cleared

March 14th, 2015

jameis 0108

Crab-legs-stealing, BB-gun-shooting, obscenity-hollering, Heisman-Trophy-winning, former national champion Jameis Winston, the pride of Florida State University, continues to look like a much better quarterback prospect than Mike Glennon.

It’s Joe’s daily nugget on the Jameis Watch, celebrating the best quarterback ever to wear No. 5 in the state of Florida.

Joe tries to stay away from the off-field crap about Jameis Winston, the prospective Bucs quarterback, because most people commenting made up their minds on Winston long ago.

Joe lets authorities decide. Winston has been cleared three times. Well, make that a fourth.

In an appeal of the decision to clear Winston’s charges in a Code of Conduct hearing at Florida State, FSU associate vice president Allison Crume dismissed the appeal, per Rachel Axon of USA Today.

“After a careful review of your case record and all the materials created to this disciplinary matter, I am affirming the recommended decision,” Crume wrote in a letter obtained by USA TODAY Sports. “My decision constitutes a final agency action.”

Since that December hearing conducted by Major Harding, [the complainant] has come forward publicly in a lawsuit against the school. She had appealed a Dec. 21 decision that Winston had not been found responsible for any of the four potential violations of the code he faced.

Joe thought three clearings by three different parties should have be enough. This is the fourth time, and still, no charge of any sort against Winston.

It’s about time folks turn the page. Joe thought the Salem Witch Trials were a thing of the past.

  1. OB Says:

This does not make him a better QB and after Monday we may know who Koetter wants as his QB.

Because regardless of who it is, he will need a better team around him in order to win.

  2. JBuc Says:

And yet we will continue to see many on this site call him a rapist.

  3. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Too dug in Joe. Low information posters.

He could be cleared 9 times and that still won’t matter. She said it and that’s all that matters. Does not matter that she changed her story multiple times either.

    Nothing matters.

  4. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

OB, you’re absolutely correct. This DOES NOT make him a better QB.

What makes him a better QB is that he is a better QB

  5. JBuc Says:

Just wait till she loses the civil case… All these people will have left is that he lifted some crab legs and cursed in public.

  6. Buc1987 Says:

Ahhh how refreshing. Time to go back to the old name for awhile. Seeing how this is a done deal…

  7. Jman Says:

Joe if you tried to stay away from his off field activities you wouldn’t have them noted it your tagliatelle email for him. It reads almost like it’s celebratory of those accusations.

  8. rayjay1122 Says:

I agree with the Winston bashing getting old and boring. Fact is that he has been cleared! Is he innocent? Who knows? He is not charged though, so unless you have never done anything ever in your entire life that was unlawful if not at least immoral, then give the young man s break already!

  9. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

JBuc, there will not be a civil case

No lawyer would take her case after these 4 investigations and after she starred in the movie where she just started to make spit up. They’d be risking their bar license at that point.

There will be no civil suit

  10. Jman Says:

Tag line for him? Not email? And tagliatelle? Must be Saturday

  11. Underdog Says:

If the Bucs don’t do some major work on this O-Line, he’ll be fourth time dead

  12. Joe T. Says:

He was cleared in another Tallahassee court on evidence collected by Tallahassee law enforcement and officials. I can’t believe it, I’m shocked.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Rayjay1122

    Previous article post……Ray Rice….not you….you’re very positive….

  14. Buccfan37 Says:

I laid off the Winston bashing way back in time. I think he is the first pick too. Might as well learn to like him. Go Bucs!

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Here is a little PR lesson…

For all of those who wonder why Winston’s visit was kept confiential until the day of and he was told not to reveal….and Mariota’s was announced 3 days early.

That was the first Bucs/Winston meeting….The Bucs had absolutely no idea how the public/protest groups etc…would respond…..out of caution, they wanted to make sure those groups had no opportunity to plan….if that were a possibility

  16. Pickgrin Says:

Erica the cleat chasing gold digger just won’t let this go it seems.

Her claims that Jameis raped her just do not match up with any of the known facts. She was caught in multiple lies involving what happened that night and then went public and repeated her lies – many of which were already dis-proven – and also made up some new ones in the hit piece film “documentary” which presented her proven lies as facts and was irresponsibly one sided.

Karma’s a bitch young lady. You have tried to make a farce of the system, irreparably damaged a young man’s reputation, and worst of all – have made it harder for women who actually were raped to come forward. Nice job.

Hopefully Erica will one day tell the truth, recant her lies and restore Winston’s reputation.

Without her baseless accusation – no one would be talking about Jameis’ “character concerns”.

  17. JBuc Says:

Joe T: so the State Attorney (UF Grad) is loyal to FSU. Give it up dude. Her whole story is a mess.

  18. rayjay1122 Says:

    @TBBF
No problem. We have always played nice but I felt guilty since my post was negative. LOL. I just get fed up just like the rest of us but when I post I do try to respect others and have some negative, positive and humorous posts depending on the subject.

  19. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

TBBF, correct me if I’m wrong but I saw Rick Stroud reporting that Mariota is coming but I haven’t seen an “announcement” by the Bucs anywhere.

It’s possible that the Bucs leaked that info to Stroud…it’s also possible that the Bucs asked Mariota and his people to keep it quiet just like they did with Jameis, but that Mariota’s people leaked it anyway to build up the perception that this is still a toss up in order to make Mariota seem more desirable.

I definitely agree with you on the reasons why they wanted to keep Jameis’ visit quiet at first….they wanted to control the message and they did. I just don’t know if Mariota’s visit becoming public means anything at all.

  20. Ray Rice Says:

    @TampaBayBucs

    #I’m a disgruntled fan…… Sorry!

  21. JBuc Says:

    Pickgrin: Well said!

  22. Ray Rice Says:

Ok. Now that I got that out the way, it’s time to go back to expressing how I really feel.

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I, too have laid off Winston in so far as the rape allegation…..I have thought it was bogus…..

I still have some problems with his stupidity for yelling “FHRITP” after the allegation and certainly against advice from his attorneys to keep a lid on that type behavior.

Some of his behavior is just immature, excusable…and just showing off with a big ego. For example, at his Heisman award…he didn’t acknowlege his competitors….and was described as “acting as if nobody else was there but him”…

Sure,,,,some of that “swagger” “ego” can and will be translated to winning on the field…..but I prefer the DB55 style of player….

  24. Erik with CleanAthletics.com Says:

Even if Winston was squeaky clean off-the-field, I still like Mariota’s skill set and potential more than Winston’s.

  25. Buc1987 Says:

Upon winning the Heisman Jameis said “this isn’t about me it’s about Florida State University”.

  26. rayjay1122 Says:

    Well said TBBF!
I believe the greatest men to ever walk the Earth have been humble. Confidence is fine bug the kid needs to learn how to be more humble. Brooks was confident but also humble. So was Lee Roy Selmon R.I.P and those are hall of famers. Yes Sapp is too and I would not say he is humble but enough hardships may change him too for the better.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

    Here’s Winston’s exact quote.

“And this Heisman isn’t just for Jameis Winston. It’s for Florida State.”

  28. the real Buck Bruce Says:

Sorry to let you guys down but we will draft Marcus Mariota.sick lasers would rather sell more tickets.and they will with Marcus not Jameis Winston

  29. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Rayjay1122

You know….even Sapp being a blowhard outspoken loose cannon….had a great deal of humility inside…

  30. the real Buck Bruce Says:

said they caught Winston trying to steal points off the scoreboard at halftime.tampaaaaa

  31. WS99 Says:

Search Greg Hardy victim and read the ESPN article written on May 2014.

If you want to bash anyone for crimes this article is mind blowing.

  32. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    CreamsicleBananaHammock

You’re probably right about the Bucs not announcing Mariota…but they probably didn’t put a lid on Mariota like Winston.

The Buc PR machine is much improved from the Dominick/Schiano days….and there doesn’t seem to be the poison (litterally & figuratively) at OBP….

  33. StPeteBucsFan Says:

“Erica the cleat chasing gold digger just won’t let this go it seems.”

Pickgrin you were not there that night. Lack of evidence and charges is not synomous with being cleared! This is a sports blog and so I do not question Joe’s lack of legal or logical acumen but words matter.

I saw the two young ladies who have produced the documentary on Maher last night! Forget about Fameis Jaboo and your lust at any cost of a great Bucs teamm

Stats show that 1 out of 4 women are assaulted sexually in college! These are OUR women. The two ladies who tried to file charges at their respective U’s were so incensed by the reaction they became attorneys and produced this documentary.

A majority of victims..over 80% dont even report rape because of the pickgrins in our society. They claim that the reaction and the hell they went through after the rape was worse than the assault itself.

Fameis was not “cleared! But he’s also not guilty so we give him the “PRESUMPTION” of innocence which is not the same as being exonerated.

This has been the worst part of the Fameris Jaboo crowd. Since I wasn’t there that night I’m open to drafting Fameis but the RED FLAGS are waving briskly in the breeze.

Calling the girl a gold digging cleat chaser is the equivalent of calling Jameis a rapist. She has not been charged with lying or perjury. Does that mean her words have been cleared like Fameis actions?

! out of 4!!! More than 80% afraid to even report an assault. Stats also show approximately 2-4% make up false charges. And so we automatically jump on the side of the accused when there is only a 2-4%l chance they’re lying.

I am not against drafting Fameis,. I am against all the enabling of horrid, mindless, REPEATED behavior being dismissed so cavalierly.

Most of all it disturbs me to see people who were NOT there that evening calling the woman names simply because their favorite star athlete is involved.

Where are you guys defeding all thee women who DO get raped?

BTW This doc is set for air on CNN this fall….right at the start of football season.

This issue is SOOO much larger than Fameis. Instead of thinking Fameis has acted stupidly and obvioiusly doesn’t take the issue very seriously or he wouldn’t have said f her in the pssy while the freaking investigation was underway forcing Jimbo so suspend Fameis for the most important game of the yeaar.

I’ve heard of sore losers but SOME not all of you Winstonites are freaking SORE winners! He’s skated, it looks like you’re going to get your guy. And by skated I’m not saying he raped her I wasn’t there! I’m saying he did a stupid thing that night at minimum…I get that the little head thinking for the big head…but the lack of respect for the school, the program, the ISSUE…by Jaboo is really pathetic. I don’t care how many Heismans. or Super Bowls he might win.

    Just let it go!!!

  34. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Here’s Winston’s exact quote.

“And this Heisman isn’t just for Jameis Winston. It’s for Florida State.”

Exactly….referring to himself in the third person (no offense Joe)…..like Joe & Pablo.

  35. Eric Says:

FSU filed a devastating Motion to Dismiss the Title IX case.

She is soon to be 0-5.

I doubt some will let it go. But it should not be used against him

Mariota v. Winston should be decided on the field and the best prospect selected.

Period. i believe that is how the bucs are proceeding.

  36. Babaloo Says:

I wouldn’t add this one joe. The reliable ones to use would be numbers2 and3. Anything from the school itself, though potentially correct, is best not to use due to conflict of interest. They don’t want to have done something wrong, hence Jameis did not either.

Now the second and third time from what I just read poke all kinds of holes in the case. I even have to change my anti Jameis stance. Though I still don’t want him playing baseball since there would be no time to rest the arm properly since he is a pitcher.

  37. Buc1987 Says:

In an email to USA TODAY Sports, David Cornwell, an attorney and adviser for Winston, said, “The streak continues. Whether it is to law enforcement or to quasi-judicial entities, the six times Ms. Kinsman has told her tale, her lies have been exposed and rejected.”

  38. Informer Says:

St pete bucfan – please read the case. This girl is lying. That documentary is poorly done.

  39. WS99 Says:

    Stpete

My biggest issue with the whole argument is the lack of consistency. JW should not play for the bucs BUT 85% want Greg Hardy? I bet 100% would want manning and/or AP. All of which have been found guilty. How about Kapernick, I bet the fans would be excited for him too and he had a sexual allegation just last year. Not to mention AP and Hardy both had their issues just last year as grown men. Instead we destroy JW future over something that MAY have happened 2-3 years ago when he was 19.

It doesn’t may any sense. There’s is NO logic there just hate and that my friend is what p*sses me off.

  40. JBuc Says:

StPeteBucsFan: I think all of are mature enough to know that we were not there and that just because he has not been found guilty does not mean he is innocent. However, do you deny that her story has changed numerous times? His story has been the same since the beginning.

If she lied then she hurts the women you reference on college campuses everywhere. By the way, don’t believe everything you hear or read. 1 in 4 women are not sexually assaulted on campus. Please show us this data.

  41. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This all comes down to the Glazers. If they trust the process and the process convinces them that Winston is not a risk off-field going forward….then they may go with him. If not…he is will be rejected…and if that happens, he may fall in the draft because the vast majority expect him to be picked.

Other than the purely speculative/unsubstantiated opinion of Charlie Campbell a few weeks ago….we have absolutely no clue what the Glazers are thinking….and neither do the Mock Draft Gurus……they may be waiting on the meeting/pro-day from Mariota to decide……the jury is still out folks.

  42. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

An FSU associate vice president would not be biased at all?

I’m not saying Winston is guilty or innocent…but the fact that an FSU guy cleared him means NOTHING. What else would they do? If they say he’s guilty, they open themselves up to the lawsuit that was filed against them.

  43. Eric Says:

Neither the criminal or civil code have a category for “innocent”.

The only question for either type of case is whether credible evidence exists to hold someone liable under the applicable standard of proof.

So the “he wasn’t found innocent” mantra is irrelevant because that is not what the system is designed to do.

  44. Couch Fan Says:

    @St. Pete

It’s silly to try to try to compare this Winston case to all rape cases. It’s not the same at all. Rape happens and its an awful thing. But this chick is clearly lying.

You are constantly trying to play the “im not judging” card but yet you judge every one of his minor actions as “horrid”. Jump all over anyone who tries to defend him. But you dont even attempt to objectively look at the credibility of this girl. Instead you make a general statement about rape victims. Which have nothing to do with this case.

I respect your passion but your views are clearly bias. You probably have a good reason for it so I cant fault you for that.

  45. DRAFT #5 Says:

I am so tired of the off field stuff which has been really blown out of proportion other than the rape issue which he has been now been cleared of wrong doing for the 4th time. Also for all the people who want to continue to believe it you may want to read this article that pokes holes in her, the documentary and the NY Times article. May be we can just drop it and look at their skills.

    http://www.nationalreview.com/article/415269/cinematic-railroading-jameis-winston-stuart-taylor-jr

There is no way Jameis is not the pick. Especially after MM pro day. He looked like a robot and was inaccurate in a setting where he controlled the environment. Not good and his interview with Mike Mayock was just plain terrible. Man he has no personality and i question how he is going to withstand the NFL media.

Did anyone else notice how Mayock was like a star struck school girl sitting next to MM. I thought he was going to as him out on a date.

  46. 1Gr8Buc Says:

Anyone who watches Bill Maher instantly loses credibility. Inform yourselves on all sides of the story before making up your mind. Old rule to go by is there are always 3 sides to the story: opposing sides and the truth which 9 times out of 10 lies in the middle.

I am not really a Winston fan, but don’t you think with the way the media is, our overreaching federal government and lawyers trying to make a name for themselves that by now something would have stuck? I honestly think Winston yelling FHRITP was testament to his confidence that he did nothing wrong, that move showed a little anger and ego.

Like most fans on here we all have to have something to B*tch about, I guess you should swing for the fences while you do, no matter how many times you cork screw yourself eyeballs deep into your own BS.

  47. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Yea he probably a lizard fan.

  48. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @St. Pete/Couch

St. Pete…..you kind of go “Ted Kaczynski” on us at times…..

I have to agree with Couch…..there comes a point in time where you have to accept that you will never know the truth….in that case, you have to err on the side of the accused….sure, he has been convicted in the court of public opinion….and it’s very unfortunate that the investigation left something to be desired.
We will likely never know….we will forge our opinions of Winston based on his future behavior. (he better choose his women wisely) or he will likely need witnesses or video to proove consentual encounters.

  49. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I will say this….to base the QB decision between these two on either pro day or any interview is absurd….

This decision will be made based on the Glazer’s comfort level with the pick…period!!!

  50. Eric Says:

Furthermore there is no Title IX requirement that a University not decide student conduct cases.

That is what happens in every student conduct case all across the country.

What is unusual in this case is that FSU provided an independent judge to hear the case.

So to disavow findings just because a University makes them is silly.

In any event Erica has a federal Title IX case going in the Middle District of Florida.

We shall see how that works out for her. I wonder if the findings of the Federal Court will be accepted by some. I have my doubts.

  51. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @1GR8Buc

‘I honestly think Winston yelling FHRITP was testament to his confidence that he did nothing wrong, that move showed a little anger and ego.”

Perhaps….most are saying it had nothing to do with the case…..if it did…and it was anger & ego…..that can be a prescription for future disaster….many criminal acts are out of anger & ego.
I’d more like to think of it as “industrial strength stupidity”….or just Jameis being Jameis…wanting to be noticed/loved.

  52. deminion Says:

People looking for a smoking gun. Draft Jameis can’t wait to see him get drafted #1

  53. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Eric

I could be wrong, but I think the Title 9 suit is all about process…..If FSU didn’t follow the proper process, they could lose….I don’t think the merits of the case itself matters….(guilt or innocence)

  54. ryan Says:

I hope the Bucs draft Marcus just to see Joe act like a little bitch

  55. the real Buck Bruce Says:

GLAZER boys if you want to sell tickets Draft Marcus Mariota not Winston the rapist.TAMPAAAA

  56. WantstaStayaBuc Says:

Winston is a thief and a liar. There is no debating those statements.
There is the face of the Bucs?

If you just focus on football, he is an interception machine. You really have to have this guy? Just admit that when he was in college you did everything that you could to rationalize his behavior and play because he was your quarterback, and now you can’t help but continue to do so.

  57. mark2001 Says:

Joe…could it be that we haven’t signed a significant DE because….because….you know what I mean….Wouldn’t Tampa Bay sound like a bag of fighting Panthers on draft day?

  58. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Couch Fan Says
“You are constantly trying to play the “im not judging” card…”

“But this chick is clearly lying.”

Far be it for me to talk on the subject of judging (because I do it all the time), but it sure seems like YOU are judging the victim.

I think we’re all guilty of judgement, one way or the other.

I also think we won’t ever know the truth…but we’ll be able to guess at it if Winston is accused of such things as a pro.

  59. K.G.S. Says:

I don’t even read most of these stories because of the same stupid tag line used for Jameis at the beginning of each one. It turns me off just like the stupid rock star general manager line. It’s funny the first 100 times but after that it’s more annoying then anything. He can’t be any worse then Jeremy Stevens and he played for us a couple years. And I actually believed the girl in the Stevens case. As soon as Stevens caught a TD everyone including the people that had stuff to say bad about him cheered plus me. So if your not going to stay true about how you feel about the person then shut up and stop complaining.

StPeteBucsFan – you are talking out your a$$. Spend a few hours actually researching the known facts in this particular case and THEN you have a right to speak or debate about what happened. You obviously have not done this so are therefore talking out your a$$.

“Calling the girl a gold digging cleat chaser is the equivalent of calling Jameis a rapist.”
She called herself a cleat chaser before she even met Jameis Winston.
She got paid to be in that documentary and repeated lies that have already been PROVEN false via the investigation – so she is profiting from lies that an athlete raped her. Gold Digger

“She has not been charged with lying or perjury”
If she takes the case to civil court and testifies under oath, then she will be subject to perjury charges. She has never been charged with perjury because she has never told her “story” under oath. She would also be sued by Winston at that point so you will not be seeing a civil action against Winston.

The film maker’s who made this documentary were incredibly irresponsible to include Erica in their film and to use Winston’s fame as a means of getting publicity for their film. They did a real disservice to all the women who did get raped on College campuses and anywhere else by recklessly including a case in their film where the accused was not arrested or charged because the known facts make it clear that no rape occurred.

Nobody is saying that rape is not a terrible crime. It is. And unfortunately it happens way too often. Those who commit the act of forceful rape should be locked away for quite some time. This particular case and the notoriety around it actually hurts the worthy cause of preventing rape. As does the Hunting Ground film hurt the same cause by including the Winston case and making it the center piece of its “message”.

  71. JGA Says:

    @St Pete Bucs fan:
Jameis was/is given the “PRESUMPTION” of innocence because that is how our legal system works. You statements fall in line with all those who presume the exact opposite, meaning that each and any accusation made by a woman is valid and the accused is “PRESUMED” guilty. Of course there has never, ever, been a case of a FALSE accusation made by a woman against a man (sarcasm). And to think this would have all gone away quietly if they had just paid her the seven million dollar extortion money she continues to demand.

  72. bucgator Says:

“My biggest issue with the whole argument is the lack of consistency. JW should not play for the bucs BUT 85% want Greg Hardy?”

Lack of consistency is something to be concerned about. Again lest anybody forget…I’m on the record as preferring MM for on field stuff, but being very comfortable taking FAmeis if he passes all the due diligence. I’m open to Hardy as well IF this was his ONLY offense.

My thoughts do not revolve around punishment or judgement of the offense while I”m on a sports blog. In Fameis case I’m just concerned about the pattern and again the entitlement or arrogance that led FAmeis to hurl what would have been a minor curse IF he and by extension his entire program was under investigation.

I’m also on the record as hoping that Fameis redeems himself and has a great life whereever he plays…Tampa…

I think calling Fameis a punk, thug, (racist implications) or a rapist, not convicted deserves presumption of innocence. Anything is possible here.
He may have been the victim of a false charge. A 1-20 chance makes it a possibility and everybody on this blog EXCEPT me have become such experts about all the testimoney and legality that I”M willing to say Fameis according to these blog experts is that 1=20 guy to have his life unfairly disrupted.

But ask yourself some questions. Have you ever shop tlifted? I stole a bottle of English Leather Cologne in the 8th grade…did it more for the rush than the desire to smell good. I’ve played with BB guns improperly. I’ve cursed inadvertantly in mixed company…and I’ve certainly picked up a girl in a bar and let the little head think for the big head.

But can you imagine being the face ofa National Champion and having a girl accuse you of rape. Now imagine you knew it wasn’t but a big investigation ensues just as rape on campus explodes on campus. Wouldn’t you keep yer yap shut until at least it all blew over. it’s actually THAT lack of judgement that frightens me more than his misadventures with the young woman.

But AGAIN..IF Fameis has been “cleared” and he’s going to be the pick of the Bucs wouldn’t it be better for Joe and all Fameis supporters to let this go!

It’s like picking at a sore. This should have reached no comment stage long ago.

  76. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Pickgrin

Even though we disagree on the Bucs first choice for QB….I agree with all of your points about the rape allegation….especially about the film producers.
They legitimize the Winston accuser by placing her in the film with actual rape victims. I haven’t seen the film but I doubt they did anything to balance her part…like disclaimers etc.

  77. Joseph Mamma Says:

    No means no!!

  79. Couch Fan Says:

Far be it for me to talk on the subject of judging (because I do it all the time), but it sure seems like YOU are judging the victim.

    ———————————————–

I never said I wasn’t judging. But my judgement is based on court documents and factual information. Not supposed actions that I did not see nor witness personally. Nor is any of my judgement based on history or anything else that has nothing to do with this particular case.

I’m with you on this one issue…and have been bothered by it all along….it is the only Winston act that wasn’t in some sense illegal….but it was, IMO the most egregious.

There is absolutely no excuse for it….I bet his attorneys went nuts when he did it.

  81. Barry Says:

    Mike Tyson
    Jameis ‘TheCreep’ Winston
    Bill Cosby
    Kobe Bryant

  82. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If Lovie Smith can get over that “FHRITP” shout in public by Winston….when Lovie doesn’t even like swearing in the locker room or on the field…(his sphincter muscle must have exploded) Then…if he is picked…..I’m down with it!!!

  85. JBuc Says:

StPeteBucsFan: I sense a hint of sarcasm when you say that perhaps Jameis is that 1 in 20 guy to have his life unfairly disrupted. Just curious if your statistics regarding false accusations of rape include those involving famous, African American athletes that are soon to be millionaires? Probably not many. However, in this case she decided to move forward with the case 10 months later once he became a Heisman front runner.

Maybe even you can see the issues with comparing this case to a case involving a typical college male with no money, no job and an unknown potential for earning.

“I honestly think Winston yelling FHRITP was testament to his confidence that he did nothing wrong, that move showed a little anger and ego.”

Ya know I always kind of thought that, just never knew how to put it into words. I think it was the backlash of Jameis Winston. He wanted to show everyone just how confident he was that he was innocent.

Should he have said it? Well it’s not like the rape case was exactly fresh at the time he said it. I really do think it was a case of, I didn’t do it and I’m so confident that I didn’t do it. I’m going to holler this out.

People think he’s a dummy, he’s far from it. He may talk all ebonics, but this kid knows exactly what he’s doing when he does it.

I’ve admitted he’s cocky, which I like. So if I’m a cocky person and I know I’m innocent of the crime, I could see myself doing something along the lines of what he did.

People think he will be bad for PR. I think the opposite. This kid just oozes confidence and we starts to talk to the Tampa press he’s going to get a lot of fans excited for the upcoming season. He may make promises that won’t come true about the season, but he will make them, and that will get the fans excited for the season.

I can hear it now. “We’re going to start winning here Tampa and that will start this season.”

    or

“I know you guys are tired of losing in Tampa, and the losing stops now.”

Fans will be whipped into a frenzy. Nope this kid is going to be good for PR as opposed to the shy quiet kid that a few other people want.

    Yes TBBF…I couldn’t help myself.

Agree with your points jbuc and I’m always happy to document my sources….which of couse may or not be correct. You have the right to read them and make up your own mind as to whether college rape is a serious problem

RAPE is the most common violent crime on American college campuses.3

I could go on but you have the googles just like me.

Again my point here is not to say or even suggest that Fameis is a rapist.
My point is that attacking Ms Klinsman, constantly minimizing Fameis repeated mistakes does not help his cause but actually hurts it.

Sorry for boring so many of you or hurting any Winstonite feelings. This is my last post on Fameis character/maturity/judgement issues. it is a dead horse.

And I need to prepare myself to begin to root for Fameis since it seems to be such a slam dunk he is arriving. I’m done. It’s behind me now.

Except for one request. Can we at least ask Fameis to change his number.
#5 on a Tampa Bay QB brings up a little hurl in the back of my mouth. That number needs to be retired for awhlle.

  90. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Lovie Smith is no Jon Gruden, Raheem Morris or Greg Schiano….Lovie has 8 grandchildren for God’s sake…..he absolutely not put up with any BS from any player….especially vulgarity…

Like it or not…he has already probably dumped several players for it.

He my draft Winston…but you can best believe he wil flat-a$$ neuter the kid.

  91. Eric Says:

The major failing of Erica’s case in terms of a police or FSU investigation, or lack thereof is that she said she did not want Winston prosecuted for 11 months.

She refused to speak to the police.

She also did not pursue a student conduct case against Winston for those 11 months even though she was assigned two victim advocates whose job it is to advise her of her right to do so and the procedures.

She was also represented by counsel who at any point in time could have picked up the phone and initiated a student conduct case at FSU, and an investigation. Or requested the police prosecute him. Never happened.

Since victim advocates are confidential FSU has been unable to defend themselves. But now that she sued them they can. Ergo the devastating Motion to Dismiss.

The lousy investigation here was done by the New York Times ESPN. Not the cops or FSU. Totally irresponsible “journalism”.

  92. Buc1987 Says:

Yes but did it effect his draft status?

  97. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @Jbuc

Take your points completely and agree that Jameis being Fameis does up the odds dramitically of a false allegation.

Money, fame, and power always attract people with bad intentions from agents to yes …gold digging women. And this actually does make it far easier for me to accept his innocence and so no I was not being sarcastic.

  98. Buc1987 Says:

Also I’m sure he’ll be told that he can’t ef up in the NFL. That they won’t put up with it. All he has to do is watch sportcenter on Ray Rice and know he’ll have to watch his ass. This kid aint stupid.

  99. Bucfan4life Says:

St Pete I disagree with a lot of your posts as you seem to want only choir boys playing for the Bucs. I also want Winston because he is the better QB and he has been cleared (actually he was never even charged) of the rape charges. However I whole heartedly agree with your comments regarding the name calling of the girl. Every time I hear gold digger or cleat chaser my stomach turns. Nobody other than those involved know what truly happened that night.
Not having all the facts I would never resort to name calling. She may in fact be a victim of something horrible that could scar her for life. The courts say he didn’t so I will support him once the Bucs take him with that first pick. I also will never bash this young woman unless she comes forward in the future and says she made it all up.

  100. StPeteBucsFan Says:

OK. I’ve tried to answer politely. If Fameis is on the way I’ll be cheering for him next year. if he goes to Tennessee I’ll still cheer for him unless it effects the Bucs.

Time to get to the gym. Have a great day all!

  101. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If Winston is the pick……his problem is solved if he does the following:
    1. Wins
    2. Shuts the “f” up (swearing)
    3. Immediately gets married and has quadruplets….or has a body cam/witnesses to all of his sexual encounters
    4. Receives therapy for possible kleptomania
    5. Confines his shooting to authorized gun ranges
    6. Quits pitching
    7. Repeat steps 1-6 for his entire career
ATTN: Jason Licht (put these in his contract)

  102. Buc1987 Says:

Why would anyone in their right mind yell out what he did in the student union after everything that he went through with the rape allegations?

At the time when I heard it I said out loud, what a moron, why doesn’t he try to keep his nose clean. The I started to think about it, but was never able to put into words.

He yelled it out because he’s innocent. No insensitivity at all. If he did do it, I think he’s smart enough not to yell such things. Yet he’s confident and cocky enough to yell them. Which tells me he was laughing in everyone’s face that thought he was guilty. Cocky.

  103. bucgator Says:

  108. Buc1987 Says:

Vinny Interceptaverde …that’s what I used to call him anyways.

  109. JBuc Says:

StPeteBucsFan, I agree this subject is both old and tired. However, when people refer to him as a rapist, those that understand the facts of this case as documented then they will likely rush to his defense. Also, not sure how you can defend Jameis against these accusations without pointing out her lies and character flaws. If there were inconsistency’s in her account, then Jameis would likely be in jail right now.

With respect to your stats, Having issues cutting and pasting on my IPad so please take a read of the article posted earlier in this thread by Draft #5. They reference actual Department of Justice stats showing sexual assault on campus occurs 6 out of 1000 or .6% compared to 8 out of 1000 in the same age group for women not in college.

If the data was actually 1 in 4 or 25%, I think you would see a lot angry parents pulling their daughters out of school and shutting these places down. No way it occurs that often.

  110. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @87
You’re not going to convince many that Winston’s public yelling of “FHRITP” is an admirable characteristic……maybe Ray Rice & Greg Hardy will agree….but certainly not Lovie & the Glazers.
Sorry, pal….your blind passionate support of Winston falls short on this issue.

  111. bucgator Says:

  115. bucgator Says:

Yeah TBBF I get what you just said. I really enjoy 87 and his passion for the Bucs. Always have. He has been out of his parameters as of the last couple months. Yet he has to LIVE the argument every day. My wife is a FSU grad but doesn’t believe in Winston so I don’t have to go through my ” HOuse divided” syndrome as usual.
He is still a valued member of the fold

  116. Buc1987 Says:

There have been rumors that there was a “cleat chaser” club at FSU and she was in it….just saying.

  117. Stanglassman Says:

We should ALL remember who trashed Jameis and didn’t want him to become a Buccaneer. I’m sure there will be a lot of Screen name changes shortly after the draft. I got to say the one who bothers me the most is St Pete BF (the guy who talks out of his A$$) because he constantly bashes the guy and pretends like he doesn’t. Today’s post comparing Jameis to all rape cases is only the most recent example.

  118. Clint Says:

Thanks for our daily bread joe. Jameis watch is our salvation.

  119. Buc1987 Says:

I think we are going to take Winston but I still think Mariota will be the more successful NFL QB. He has better measurable stats on every level and beat Winston in head to head match up in the bowl. I think Winston is better than any QB we have had lately but I really believe Mariota is and will remain the better QB. I hope I am wrong but at least based on their college production, I just do not see Winston as being so much better. I don’t buy that system QB will fail in the NFL nonsense.

  121. Tampabaybucfan Says:

  126. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I am thoroughly satisfied with my posts regarding Winston….I have never given the rape allegations any credence. I have never even commented on anything else except his public yelling of the Internet meme.
My posts have all had the same consistent message and they still do. I don’t think the differences between the two on the field warrant taking the off-field risk. I will support Winston if he is the choice because I believe the Bucs will have done their best to vet him.
Do I hope that I am absolutely wrong if he’s the choice…yes.
Five years from now…..someone can say Tampabaybucfan, I told you so…and I won’t care because we are winners.
But I will caution this….if he is the choice…..be very careful what you wish for and be slow to celebrate his future too soon.

  127. Buc1987 Says:

Jameis Winston is exactly why the NFL has the draft rules in place so that the team with crappiest record picks first.

THIS is what we’ve been waiting for decades ladies and gents, for decades.

  128. JJV Says:

Why is it so difficult for fans to accept Leonard Williams will be the Bucs pick? The defense will never work without pressure from the DE. They have not signed any help in free agency because they have a plan for the draft to take one of the most dominant pass rushing DE to come out of college in years. Ignore the truth.Yes it does hurt sometimes as well. In the meantime until it happens, enjoy fantasies that JW and MM will save the day.

“Why is it so difficult for fans to accept Leonard Williams will be the Bucs pick?”

Um probably because 27 out of 28 mock drafts have the Bucs taking Winston.

More than one analyst have said everyone one at the combine was confident the Bucs are taking Winston. It was all the talk at the combine. It’ almost a well known fact now.

    And

No one has said the bucs are taking Williams… no one.

  131. JBuc Says:

JJV: I don’t think most think that either Jameis or Marcus is going to come in and save the day, at least in the immediate future. But then neither would Williams. However, hopefully, you are only at the top of the draft once in a long while and when the chance to draft a potential franchise type QB is there then you seize the opportunity.

  132. Bucfan4life Says:

@stan glass what you said about St Pete is too funny. That is exactly why he bothers me. Every post he tries to subtly destroy anything positive about Jameis, points out all the negatives and then tries to sum it up as though he is this thoughtful guy who is ok with him.

  133. Jeagan1999 Says:

Speaking for myself only….I think enough has come out now to alleviate any fears I had about Jameis being in legal jeopardy over the alleged rape incident. I still worry about some of the other incidents, but he’s young and some degree of immaturity is expected! I know I did a few things in college, that I would never do now that I am an adult.

That being said, I still lean toward Mariota because I beleive his athleticism, intelligence and lack of turnovers makes him the better long term prospect. But if the BUCS choose Winston, I will be fine with that too….he certainly has the God given skills to be a very good NFL QB. Let others believe what they will about him, but I can safely say the allegations no longer bother me.

Can’t wait to see what happens during Mariota’s visit to Tampa this week, and I can’t wait to see Coach Gruden with both these guys!

  134. JJV Says:

Buc1987 and JBuc- I respect your opinions and convictions that we will/should draft one of the QBs at number one. All I offer is a thought to think outside the box. Mock drafts have been inaccurate before. My opinion is different than most but I stand by prediction. Let’s hope whoever we draft, we can then unite to support our team to a winning season. Go Bucs!

I’m in the same boat. I haven’t seen it either and you could very well be correct that they went for the high profile case for publicity. That of course is very sad.

Because Jameis is Fameis and soon to be wealthy it creates too much conflict of interest looks like blackmail and while I respected those two young ladies enormously I believe they would have been served by utilizing lower profile cases that would be largely anononymous to the public at large. Fameis case was never a slam dunk and had too many holes in it when there are plenty of other horror stories with substantiated proof.

If you watch the video interview with Jameis after he won the Heisman on Dan Patrick show, he talks about growing up being a Bucs fan because his father was one and how his father wouldplay Doug Williams(VHS) tapes for him before high school games. So I don’t think it’s just because he wants to be the #1 overall like some around here say.

  154. Stanglassman Says:

Re: Velocity/ Jameis had the fatigue in his shoulder around the time of the combine so that may explain why he threw with less velocity. He was also shortening his release motion.

  155. iamkingsu Says:

    1. Who cares who threw the hardest?

    2. Kurt warner shook his head no and told jameis its not necessary when jameis stepped up and said “ok I’m about to start putting some heat behind it so be ready” to the receivers

    3. Did you’ll listen to the commentary?

  156. Pickgrin Says:

Sorry Holy Buc. I tired to look it up myself and couldn’t find anything. Must have just not googled the right words or something.

  157. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Well I’d rather watch guys argue about 1MPH difference in their velocity than continue with the rape crap.

Now even an MM supporter like me is not going to suggest that Mr 97MPH fastball has any problem with arm strength or velocity.

Jameis is not Jeff Garcia. And even though I support MM I can’t imagine him throwing it harder than Jameis.

  158. HolyBuc Says:

Anything 55 MPH and over is fine since they started tracking velocity at the combine there hasn’t been a really successful QB under 55 MPH. For reference Cam Newton who most would say has plenty of arm threw 56 MPH.

  159. HolyBuc Says:

Of course most of the top QBs don’t throw but Flacco did and posted 55 MPH. Also in case people were interested Freeman threw 57 MPH.

Even if Winston was squeaky clean off-the-field, I still like Mariota’s skill set and potential more than Winston’s.

You like Mariota’s inability to pass accurately in limited space under pressure better than you like Winston’s ability to pass accurately in limited space under pressure?

    TBBF,
    Sorry about that.
Barry just seems to bring out the worst in me.
It might just be because he’s a racist car thief.
Or it might be because he makes outlandish statements
about Jameis that rile me up.
Or it might be that he watched Robert 9 get raped by that college
QB in the back seat of one of his stolen vehicles.
I’m not sure what it is.
I’ll try to refrain from responding to him in the future.

  179. Buccfan37 Says:

Winston is the politically correct pick. Racial tension with law enforcement points to his pick, and the NFL is an important part of controlling the male population with competitive sports. Those at the top can’t be touched legally in todays USA., in any field or endeavor.

The thought of that poor girl, drunk and passed out, coming to and begging The Creep to stop and he wouldn’t, then he dragged her into the bath room and raped her (her statement) is a terrifying thought. I just happen to believe her and not the Creep. You choose to believe the Creep. So stop trying to bring race into the conversation, not once have I every mentioned the fact that the Creep is black and the victim is white. Not once. #RaceBaiter #HowCanFactsBeRacist

Not sure about your question…who else uses it? It’s done at the combine so I assume NFL teams must have some use for it. There are many metrics some can be used to help predict success, some help predict failure, and some do both. Velocity a few people have noted as a metric that can help predict failure more so than success. Look at the list from link above it goes back to 2008 find a QB on the list under 55 MPH that has had success. Glennon is the closest and this club doesn’t believe he is the answer.

Thanks to this franchise history of failed QBs I have been trying to make myself more knowledgable and last year proved to me that analytics has a place in the QB discussion. Analytics nailed the Teddy pick last year. The Winston and Mariota debate is even more intriguing if you take this past season Mariota is hands down the pick. Go back to 2013 and Winston is the better pick but not by a wide margin. I wish Winston had a 3rd year so we know for sure who he truly is ’13 or ’14. Mariota interests me because he got better every year for three years.

At this point the only way I’m really pissed is if we don’t go QB.

  198. BoltIsle Says:

People keep talking about Jameis’ red flags. The accuser has some as well.

If someone has six versions of something happening in one night, if someone had denied speaking to the university for months, if someone had offered to go away for hush money and someone wanted an insurance policy on another person because of their potential in future earnings, that would raise MAJOR red flags with me.

Nobody has taken a cavalier attitude towards campus rape. Sadly, it does happen. In this particular case, it seems highly unlikely that happened.

I sense that a car thief lurking among us will kidnap the Glazers the night before the draft, holding them hostage while in his high heels and attempt to force them to draft Marcus. Not understanding Marcus has no real desire to be in Tampa based on recent reports, he finally admits his efforts are futile and returns to a life of stealing cars to show support for the Tampa Bay Bucs.

  199. Jim Says:

Do NOT forget about the number of picks he threw against college kids!!! The last QB the Bucs had wearing #5, threw too many picks. For all the Winston lovers, how many games have the Bucs lost due to turnovers?

  200. Josh P Says:

    @BuccaneerBonzai

Obviously everyone will point to a bias angle here.. and i get it. not going to disagree with those comments per say…

But don’t you think with a University as big as FSU, if they really wanted this to go away they could make it happen?? The fact that FSU is not giving into this womans demands says a little something in regards to what they know that might not be open to the public.. They’ve sat in hearings and have spoke directly with her and seen her body language.

  201. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I have been critical of Fameis off field actions. But I’ve never called him a rapist and if L&L perform their due diligence and pick Fameis I’m fine.

I am against picking on MM or Klinsman to make Jameis case look better. He doesn’t need the help. He’s doing fine and again if we (JOE) just let it go we can all move on.

Because I’ve posted some troubling questions I’ve obviously agitated some Winstonites, one of whom says I speak out of my ass. Sometimes but I call that farting! And I concede some of my posts whether on Jameis or not might read like farts. LMAO

The main purpose of this post is to state that I’m not a Jameis hater and I’m NOT Barry!

  202. Josh P Says:

    @Jim

So what you’re saying is if a QB throws a lot of INT’s to college players they don’t equate to good NFL QB’s??

Winston through 28 picks in college, how did/have these QB’s faired with the college INT numbers??

    Matt Ryan – 37
    Dan Marino – 69
    Big Ben – 34
    Russell Wilson – 30
    Jim Kelly – 28
    Peyton Manning – 33

  203. JBuc Says:

The most telling point to me about this whole rape case at the end of the day is that Jameis Winston was a black man accused or raping a white woman in the Deep South. The alleged rape occurred before he was a starter on the football team. FSU was already a football power with multiple championships and had a great team assembled with or without Jameis. Former black and white players had committed crimes including sexual assault while at FSU and had been removed from the team. So, with all this as a back drop, if there was a strong case against him I am sure FSU would have moved quickly and decisively to remove him from school. The fact that this didn’t happen means to me they know the facts and feel comfortable that he did not break the law.
