Jameis Watch: You Need Jameis

March 13th, 2015

jameis 1215

Crab-legs-stealing, BB-gun-shooting, obscenity-hollering, Heisman-Trophy-winning, former national champion Jameis Winston, the pride of Florida State University, continues to look like a much better quarterback prospect than Mike Glennon.

It’s Joe’s daily nugget on the Jameis Watch, celebrating the best quarterback ever to wear No. 5 in the state of Florida.

The difference between the Woody Hayes crowd — which is scared of offense and modern day NFL — and the Draft Jameis masses couldn’t be more stark.

Bucs fans, having been waterboarded by the Bucs offense for far too long, can see that without a quarterback, watching Bucs games is like having a denture drilled, only without the Novocaine.

The Woody Hayes crowd tries to convince itself that the Bucs can win with defense only (a notion put to rest by Chucky himself). Well, among the many who are begging for the Bucs to pick Jameis Winston is George Diaz of the Orlando Sentinel. He sort of does a Col. Nathan R. Jessep to suggest Bucs fans need Jameis Winston.

The Bucs need Winston. Winston needs to validate their support by not screwing up and instead becoming an elite quarterback.

Perfecto.

From talking to NFL types, Joe almost gets the sense that the Winston vs. Mariota narrative is incorrect. You know how folks are starting to debate “Kentucky or the field,” in the argument for who will be the NCAA national champion come next month?

Joe is starting to get the feeling that for the Bucs, it is not Winston or Mariota, but Winston vs. the field. Even Mariota said he can see being picked by the Jets or Eagles.

It is almost as if Joe can hear Jessep bellow in a courtroom to the Woody Hayes crowd:

“You weep for Chucky and you curse Josh McCown. You have that luxury. You have that luxury of not knowing what I know. That McCown’s release, while tragic, probably saved season ticket sales. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties; you want Jameis in that huddle. You need Jameis in that huddle. We use words like first downs. Receptions. Scoring. We use these words as the backbone for 20th Century football (even though we are in the 21st Century). You use them as a punch line.”

Not as much as you do Joe….

  2. Bucnut2 Says:

No joe, you’re wrong. I desperately want a QB. I just don’t think he’s worth the risk. I don’t believe we can win on defense alone. I just think he’ll end up spending more time suspended than he does on the field… Like I said before if he played for Ohio state most of his Tampa area supporters would be running away from him.. There is HUGE homer bias at work. Too bad you and others can’t see it.

  3. tmaxcon Says:

    Hilarious . Nice piece Joe.

Unfortunately king Lovie’s philosophy makes Hayes look like Martz. Hayes knew he needed points and that football started prior to November. Lovie can’t grasp that. Winston will help him.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Good Ol’ Joe….made me search the article for the Tampa quote….

Will he try to convince the Bucs he is worthy of the No. 1 overall pick?

“You have to,” Mariota said. “It’s a job interview. It’s an opportunity to market myself, and I’m going to do my best to go out there and try to present myself to them.”

  5. louden Says:

    its realy like:
the bucs + jameis = perfect match
because a good run team would take Mariota

freeman2.0 also known as Winston or Mariota? only Bucs can screw that one up

  6. Erik with CleanAthletics.com Says:

    @ Joes

It’s comical how you talk about the modern-day NFL and then try to push a QB that represents the mold of the past. Mariota is the epitome of the modern-day QB/future of the position. SMH. You are going to have egg on your face again bcuz of your incorrect QB endorsement.

  7. BucFanInArkansas Says:

“Who’s gonna do it? You?? YOU, Lieutenant Glennon???”

  8. Bucnut2 Says:

And for the record I’m not a woody Hayes fan

  9. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

So Bucnut, you’re saying that the only reason that ANYONE thinks that Jameis will be a better pro than Mariota is because he went to FSU?!?!? He’s a no talent hack that would be looking at a Mike Kafka-esque career if he went to any school other than FSU?

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

“Winston needs to validate their support by not screwing up and instead becoming an elite quarterback.”

“For better for worse…till death do us part”

    Just got changed to.

“Honey, I’ll marry you…but please don’t screw up”

  11. Luther Says:

Any other result with the first pick should cost Lovie his job. Mariota is not the right pick for this team. I like the kid but don’t want him running around in Tampa.

  12. louden Says:

    also:
Joe doesn´t like to write about Patriots in season, because they are so boring..
bellycheat alwasy great yada yada always winning yadayada

so give me the boring winning QB who is exciting on the field

  13. Bucnut2 Says:

Erik, disagree. I don’t think either one is worth 1 overall

  14. Joe Says:

It’s comical how you talk about the modern-day NFL and then try to push a QB that represents the mold of the past.

Never saw Winston run a wishbone.

  16. Pickgrin Says:

Time for the Mariota wishers and trade down wishers to face reality. 90% chance Winston will be the pick at this point – and rightfully so. Those who don’t like the idea better start figuring out how to be OK with it. You will be glad L&L made the right choice soon enough.

  17. DI Says:

    Good job Joe.

Probably one of the best posts in years.

    Love this movie, great adaptation.

  18. Eric Says:

    YOUR GD RIGHT I DID!!!!!

  19. Yungry Says:

Mariota gets nervous against an imaginary rush.

  21. Eric Says:

    Only “ok” vs. air.

  22. passthebuc Says:

Trade Glennon. Then sit back for next 8 years and endure the constant “we told you so”

  23. Sick of the debate Says:

“What are we going to discuss now, my favorite color?”

    Joe, love the movie quote.

  24. ben Says:

bucs don’t need a thug as face of our nfl team

  25. tmaxcon Says:

    Glennon…. Now that’s a funny joke.

  26. Nybucsfan Says:

Yes we need the next Jimbo fisher bust.

  27. MTM Says:

How many drafts in the past have had slam dunk quarterback picks? I mean guaranteed franchise picks. Not many that can recall outside of Luck. Now I’m supposed to believe Winston is a sure fire pick. I’m not buying it. Winston threw picks against every good defense he ran into. He’s just lucky Hargreaves stayed in college another year. DB’s in the NFL are going to eat Winston alive with that slow delivery. That’s why he throws into so many tight windows.

  28. Eric Says:

Mariota seems a little mentally slow to me. Lots of uhs and difficulty finishing sentences.

Id check to see if he was in special education classes.

Something is not right with the man.

  29. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Collins before getting cut “You want me on that wall, you need me on that wall”…..
    Lovie to Collins “What wall?”

  30. Mr Magoo Says:

Aren’t most of you commentors the same people who proclaimed McCoy “a bust” his first couple years? Your opinions are so worth reading, not!

  31. G Says:

Jamies has to be the pick for the Bucs. He is a much better fit here than Mariota. Mariota needs development and do you think the Bucs are the ones that can do that? We have NEVER developed a QB in the history of the franchise.

Mariota may one day be a great QB, but it will not be in Tampa. Winston may not either, but in terms of the Bucs, he igives us the best chance.

  32. Pickgrin Says:

Winston dislikers don’t want the Truth. You can’t handle the Truth!!

The Truth is that Jameis is not a bad seed or trouble waiting to happen or whatever other such nonsense that Winston hater’s minds imagine.

The Truth is that Jameis Wnston is a generational type QB talent on par with Luck who will quickly prove that he will be an upper tier NFL Quarterback and win a lot of games for the Buccaneers franchise.

  33. tmaxcon Says:

Do you think they will change the ear piece rules so Mariota’s teammates can hear him call a play in the huddle. Very timid. Definitely not a confident leader.

Not the guy I want leading my team in the 4th quarter. The IT factor matters.

You guys hating now will buy in and jump on the Fameis Express after a couple wins. Lovie is going to learn so much from Jameis.

  34. CLW JB Says:

Stumbled across this today, interesting info on JW case and more importantly some facts that cast serious doubt on the accusers story…

Not trying to be a scribe, just a loyal Bucs Fan trying to find out if the next face of the franchise is the real deal

  35. Tom Edrington Says:

    Winston would have been Santiago……..

  36. WS99 Says:

so many good quotes such little time.

  37. jfat Says:

Can we stop with the “Best since Luck” crap? Luck has a better arm and is almost as fast as Mariota. If you take the best parts of Jameis and Mariota…you have Luck. If you think Winston has the same skill set…you’re delusional.

While we’re at it..stop with the smartest QB since Manning, he will have to do a lot more than impress Mooch by remembering a play to prove that.

Besides, until this year, who was the previous “best QB since Luck”? Glennon? Bridgewater?

  38. Blitz Says:

Random but on my flight over to LA today I was sitting a couple rows of mike glennon. Any idea as to why he may be over here?

  39. bo Says:

To compare either of these two with Andrew Luck is just pure insanity…neither of these guys are close…and I doubt either will be.

  40. WS99 Says:

    Tom

Actually if youve ever seen the movie you know Santiago looks almost exactly like mm. Even talks like him. Winston would be like lance corp Dawson

  41. Eric Says:

    Lovie looks like the judge…….

  42. WS99 Says:

    Eric

Soooo true. That’s just funny. So dirk is Kevin bacon?

  43. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Jameis Winston will be better than Luck.

    That’s right I said it!

Always thought it, just never typed it in here.

So I’m getting THAT out of the way now.

  44. bucs4lyfe Says:

Trade down for Glennon haha what a joke. Licht said it best, you made a mistake schiano and it got you fired we’re moving on. Lol Glennon is going to make it hard to get Winston of the bench? I get it lol it’ll be as though as it was when mccown came back from injury lol get over it, the first overall pick is going to start day 1 at any position, if he can’t them it’s a bad pick or an injury

  45. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

If Winston is Dawson…then MM is the gum on the bottom of Dawson’s shoe.

    Can I get some drums?

    Budum Ching.

  46. Eric Says:

Licht looks a little like Markinson.

Let’s hope he doesn’t kill himself.

  47. WS99 Says:

Joe = Kevin pollack – No no no I strenously object.

This is fun. I’m so easily amused.

  48. Dick2111 Says:

At this point could live with either Winston or Mariota. Seriously doubt that either of them could lead us to a break-even record this year if they started. Thus it’s all about the future.

A lot more concerned about what we do with the 2-3-4 picks in this draft. Two offensive linemen and one defensive end had better be in that pile or we’ll have blown this draft too..

  49. WS99 Says:

Seriously is anyone expecting more than 5 wins this year? Last year it was like the bucs are going to the SB. Then win the division. The 8-10 wins. Then we were in the hunt at 2-9? Lmao. Oh lovie. I can’t handle his truths.

    5? 10? Or 15? What say you?

Is this a serious post or snark? It’s the dumbest damn post I’ve read in a week here and that’s a high bar to clear.

What is not right is YOU. Seriously where are you guys coming up with of this crap?

  51. Winston=Black jesus Says:

    he’s coming get ready !

  52. tmaxcon Says:

Hopefully Jameis can help Lovie get over his fear of points.

    Offense is not satanism

  53. dave Says:

JOE LOOKS LIKE WE LOST THE CHANCE FOR MORGEN FROM TN. wheres are pass rusher? give me some hardy and a draft pick

  54. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

WS99 …way to early for predictions when half the roster is not even filled out yet…hell what do we have 3 total O-lineman in the house?

If you need that prediction as of right now Jameis or not. I see 6 wins tops.

  55. jfat Says:

WS99 I’m thinking 8-8 this year, color me optimistic. Mostly because I think the NFC South has actually gotten a bit worse this off season. Also think an OC will help, regardless of the QB.

  56. MariotaOrWinstonOrWalkdaPlank Says:

“Mariota gets nervous against an imaginary rush.”

Interesting. Mariota is not the one who got strip-sacked by air during the Rose Bowl. And he’s also not the one who throws panic interceptions.

  57. Pickgrin Says:

Its too early to making win/loss predictions WS99. We don’t know what our roster looks like yet. I will say this – If L&L draft Winston and can find a way to make the OLine at least average – then we are surely looking at more than 5 wins IMO. 8-9 wins will possibly win the division as we saw last year – and I don’t think that is too much to hope for – even this year. Of course I’m an optimist and you are usually a pessimist – so the truth probably lies somewhere in between.

  58. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

WS99…it’s hard to make a prediction for this next season. Especially when I think back to that Ravens game…and cringe.

  59. Gatorbuc Says:

I still love me some 5599 and some 87 regardless of how they feel.
That makes me a bad man

  60. MariotaOrWinstonOrWalkdaPlank Says:

“Jameis Winston will be better than Luck.

    That’s right I said it!”

Well, if he is a Buc I sure as hell hope so, but I think that is that FSU homerism kicking in. Luck was the undisputed No.1 Overall Pick. To think it would be anybody else but him was looked at as insane. Yet the Bucs have quite a lot of people thinking Winston, Mariota, Williams, or trade down. We will see now won’t we?

  61. Gatorbuc Says:

[If you want Joe to use the magic button, just say so. — Joe]

  62. jfat Says:

Just saw the fish dished Wallace to Minnesota for a 5th rounder. Can’t recall seeing this many player trades in one off-season, pretty cool stuff.

  63. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Pickgrin …I used to be an optimist too when it came to the Bucs. Now I’m somewhere in between right now. The optimist wants to come through, but the realist in me won’t let it.

  64. JSmalls Says:

    Is Mariota clutch?

  65. MarshallU Says:

NO MEANS NO to JaMarcus Winston. Sorry Joe, but you are backing the wrong horse for the 3rd year in a row. Joe’s endorsement is the kiss of death

  66. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

    Gatorbuc…I’m famous ya know. lol

    No autographs please.

  67. Gatorbuc Says:

OK……………So most of you that I talk to regularly that are “Pro Winston”
Do you guys think I shouldn’t be able to post here??

  68. MariotaOrWinstonOrWalkdaPlank Says:

“Just saw the fish dished Wallace to Minnesota for a 5th rounder. Can’t recall seeing this many player trades in one off-season, pretty cool stuff.”

And yet L&L are sitting on their hands enjoying having the worst O-line in football. Smh.

  69. WS99 Says:

    Stpete
I think we’re just at the goofy stage of the process.

    Gatrbuc
I lub you too man. Lol

    The rest of youz
You’re right too early. At I’m 1-15 as of this particular moment in time so that puts us at 5 wins, right pickgrin? That seems about right.

  70. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

MarshallU…27 out of 28 mock drafts have the Bucs taking Winston.

Of course this means nothing to you, but Joes in good company I think.

    27 out of 28 mocks.

  71. Gatorbuc Says:

Hey 87 I am Quickly becoming more “in”famous than you ever thought you would be for some reason by the Joes.
I just like to talk to my Bucs fans

  72. WS99 Says:

    Please wait I’m being moderated.

  73. WS99 Says:

    Gatorbuc

You cool with me. It would suck if we all agreed. Speaking of, where’s hawaii? I miss my boy. He doesn’t like me very much.

  74. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

    Gatorbuc…I was banned before too.

I never tried to hide my IP or even bother to try. Even though I can.

I think I was more pissed off at Joe than he was at me.

So I never bothered coming back.

Oh well it’s water under the bridge and Joe and I are like best friends now. 🙂 lol

  75. Gatorbuc Says:

Hey. I love both of you Noles. Why? Because you are Buc’s fans. That is it.
Top it off that 55 has mucho good ish to say.
87 you have been a little off lately but that is because you have so many fronts to defend JW on. I get it. You both are two of my favs

  76. JSmalls Says:

“Interesting. Mariota is not the one who got strip-sacked by air during the Rose Bowl. And he’s also not the one who throws panic interceptions.”

Yeah, it took Winston’s team down 19 late in the 3rd on 4th and 5 for him to make a bone head play. But it was the smart play, he just lost the ball. I suppose you think running out of bounds one yard short of the first would be wise?

Tell me one game where Mariota erased a 4th quarter deficit. Seriously, there’s only one game… Can you guess which team?

  77. WS99 Says:

    Stevie Johnson please and Ty.

  78. jfat Says:

MOWOWDP – Yeah pretty uneventful for the Bucs so far, just one lineman would make me feel better. Waiting to see if the Saints wind up releasing Evans, would hope the Bucs would go after him.

  79. WS99 Says:

    Jsmalls

    I give up, which one?

  80. RastaMon Says:

Hey….the banned #’s are increasing….I am “awaiting Moderation ” every time I post

  81. Tye Says:

The bucs “need” JW as much as anyone needs a migraine, a tooth ache or diarrhea…. This is what happens when their is no exceptional QB available for a QB desperate team….. All these years waiting for a top notch QB a when the Bucs get the chance they end up with JW…… That fits in nicely with the rest of the Bucs poor history….

  82. Gatorbuc Says:

[You act like an arsehole and wonder why you were banned? Keep goading Joe. Sooner or later, you’ll catch Joe in the wrong mood. — Joe]

  83. MariotaOrWinstonOrWalkdaPlank Says:

    @JSmalls

I was just poking fun at Eric’s silly statement. And to answer you question Mariota doesn’t have as many 4th quarter comebacks because his team is never down. Hard to “comeback”when you are ahead, no?

  84. Underdog Says:

So has anybody noticed that at this point in time there are no rumors, leaks, articles, or any news at all about the Bucs trying to trade Mike Glennon? Has anybody heard anything current?

  85. Gatorbuc Says:

I still want to Tailgate with you 87 if I come to visit my Parents this yr.

  86. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Gatorbuc…don’t think this has been easy being in Winston’s corner…

Sometimes I feel bad for Jimbo Fisher…and he didn’t have to deal with half the crap that got thrown my way over the last 2 months.

That’s why I told everyone I’m trying to taper off commenting anymore about Winston, because I truly believe without a doubt that he’s going to be the pick.

So really no need to defend him anymore as much.

Then again the summer of 2013, I defended Freeman in here like I was his agent or something. So I don’t have a good track record on QB’s to begin with.

Yes everyone don’t start ragging on me again about Freeman, my wife does it enough already…still.

  87. Gatorbuc Says:

    Lol , Underdog. Nice spot

  88. WS99 Says:

    Gator

You should read the stuff I don’t post. I have to filter myself at times or it would get really ugly in here.

  89. jfat Says:

@Gatorbuc – Maybe if you just talk about football instead of your Joe drama you wont have problems…

  90. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Dude when I first found JBF…I fought with everyone. Joe warned me constantly to stop. I was harsh when I attacked my fellow Buc fans. It took about 3 months or so to settle me down. My gawd it was brutal.

People that remember back then will tell you. I was an a-hole. Well more of one than I am now.

  91. Jack Says:

Yep, the BUCS are building through the draft, and answer is:

Winston, OT, DE, OG, then best available.

  92. Strider #FamousJameis Says:

Winston Please don’t be a bust.

    Lol. True.

  95. Bucnut2 Says:

I fear we are going to draft Winston. I like the talent, hate what comes with it. Here’s a cool idea. Let’s sign hardy to mentor him. Should be great, they can watch the games from a sports bar in Tampa during their suspensions.

  96. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucnut2

Hardy and Winston would be the only smart move Lovie made other than Evans.

Stop being a drama queen. Hardy will be paid to crush qb not house sit your kids. Winston is a quality young man railroaded by a cleat chasing liar. you have zero basis for your assumptions of suspension

  97. Broy34 Says:

NONE OF THIS MATTERS. We do not have lineman on either side of the ball. We have ZERO chance at the playoffs if we do not plug these holes. More worried about O line than d line

  98. Clint Says:

Posts like this are why I come to Joe Bucs Fan every day now. A new era has begun. NWWO – New Winston World Order

  99. Eric Says:

    Mariota vs. Air.

    Air wins.

  100. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Broy…I’m concerned for Winston’s safety too. That’s why I’m more worried about the o-line as well.

  101. MariotaOrWinstonOrWalkdaPlank Says:

Lmao not according to Jameis. You been drinking this Friday night? 🙂

  102. Pickgrin Says:

Mariota will have a better NFL career than Jameis…
Jameis will be easier to sack than a hat rack

Jameis will have alot of balls batted back in his face with his 3/4 sidearm release
Jameis will be humbled and humiliated be NFL defenses
and that is just the on field negatives
    ===================================

none of that will happen! heck, mariota was sacked a lot for having “athleticism”. he was sacked 7 times in one game by a sorry 3-9 washington state team. jameis will be the better pro qb. he will elevate this team and the players around him, just as he made mariota a better player at the combine. mariota – winston = mediocre at proday vs air

  107. Clint Says:

Behind a suspect line you need a guy built like a tank to play 16 games, look at Big Ben…. They’ve never had a good pass blocking line and he rarely misses time.

In today’s NFL all you really need is a QB and a coach to have a chance. Bucs will have both with Winston and Lovie soon. People don’t even know how good times are about to be. Mark my words your Sundays will never be the same

  108. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Chris Burke’s Sports Illustrated’s latest mock

    #1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    Jameis Winston, QB
    RS Sophomore, Florida State

Say what you will about Winston’s maturity, but he took the initiative to meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell recently and the league noticed. “He went out of his way to make a good impression, and to show that he understood what was going to be expected of him in the NFL,” a league executive told The MMQB’s Peter King.

Even more noteworthy when discussing this pick is that Winston already has made a lengthy stop in Tampa Bay to meet with the brass there. ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote that the visit “might be an unprecedented visit for how early it occurred.”

Add those occurrences to Winston’s impressive performance at the combine, and the possibility of Tampa Bay passing on him here—even for Mariota, the No. 1 QB on my post-combine Big Board—is dwindling.

  109. iamkingsu Says:

Yes, we need Jameis. Yes, we will be drafting Jameis. Now, on to what’s happening now in Free Agency. How in the world can there be no interest in the best DE available? Shoot, Hardy probably was the best DE available at the start of FA. Get this guy on the cheap. Incidentally, it’s honestly a crock of crap that the NFL couldn’t get their act together before FA to dish out whatever punishment they feel is appropriate. The NFL is easily comparable to banks. The Nazis of companies if you will. They wrote everybody and their mother a loan several years ago and then when the crap hits the fan, crap that they greatly helped cause, they get bailed out and then avoid loaning even to those qualified. The NFL is pulling that same crap. They screwed the pooch on the Ray Rice incident so now they will go over the top with domestic violence even when the case is thrown out of court and the man has not been proven guilty of a crime.

  112. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Has anyone ever read the ESPN story “The Legend of Jameis Winston”?

If not I suggest you google it to find out why this kid is going to be so damn good.

  113. iamkingsu Says:

    Joe

I’m tired of saying this but you need a ‘favorite’ button because these people must be held accountable for the ish they say in the future.

  114. Eric Says:

    Marcus Airiota.

He just can’t throw against it.

    And it scares him.

  115. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Jameis snuck up behind Mariota and said : BOO!

    Mariota jumped a mile….

  116. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

iamkingsu …you can always copy and paste their comments into a folder on your PC like I used to do. The bring them out later. It pisses people off though.

  117. iamkingsu Says:

Jameis is the best Qb “on field” prospect since I don’t know who because he’s better than Luck and he’s the best leader since Ray Lewis. He might be better than Ray. Until youve seen him in the locker room don’t comments

  118. Barry Bryan Joel all agree Says:

What the Glazers should do since neither of these QBS are Franchise, is to draft L.Williams and start MG8 or draft L.Williams and trade for D.Brees. yo.

  119. Eric Says:

Somebody says I made the stupidest remark ever?

Joe can vouch that I’ve been working on that for about five years!

You have such thoughts because you are stupid.

  121. Barry Bryan Joel all agree Says:

The biggest question with Winston is, what happens when he gets horny? I mean baby sitting can only go so far. What’s acceptable for a playoff win? 1 rape? 2? 3? At FSU it was 1 for a National championship.

  122. iamkingsu Says:

    87

Might have to do that and channel my inner Tim Russert (RIP) on here because me ignoring them and staying quiet is doing no good.

Ghost Johnson snuck up on Jameis and said: BOO!

    Jameis fumbled backwards a mile.

  126. iamkingsu Says:

The man won 27/28 games just like he sits at the top of 27/28 mock drafts and all you’ll want to do is talk about a fumble?? I might be his biggest fan and I’ll still give you some ammo against him at least use ‘the pick’ against Notre Dame after FSU just got a turnover. There you’ll go use that instead now lets debate!

  127. Andrew 1 Says:

All I know is that if anyone thinks the bucs are not going to draft Winston, please do yourself a favor and stop living in denial. Its so clear by now that not only is Winston the better QB, but that the bucs favor him too. In fact we should really start talking about who we will be drafting with our second pick.

  128. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

“In fact we should really start talking about who we will be drafting with our second pick.”

Do you REALLY think Joe’s going to let that happen Andrew?

  129. iamkingsu Says:

They won’t hear you I’ve been trying to drive that point home

  130. MariotaOrWinstonOrWalkdaPlank Says:

    @iamkingsu

Lol I’m not trying to debate. Just having a good time replying to snide comments with similarly snide comments. It’s all in good fun. 🙂

  131. Andrew 1 Says:

Probably not 87, but he should. things are starting to get stale, and that second pick is also a very important as well.

  132. tmaxcon Says:

Second pick has to be a ot unless a stud DE falls.

    Winston
    OT
    DE
    LB

    Then find a HC

  133. iamkingsu Says:

Joe knows Winston moves the needle. I was radio silent on here for weeks at a time and only came out for the natl title game then combine etc because I know what Joe is trying to do. He knows the pick is Winston! He can’t help himself with the hits to the site. I say we silent protest Winston articles!

  134. gatorbucs Says:

C’Mon guys………….You need to play nice

joe that is the best arrival I have ever seen from you! Fantastic!

  136. Tampabaybucfan Says:

While all of you are celebratinng Winston as the pick, I have one question for you.

It’s Friday night at 11:13pm….do you know where your future franchise QB is?

Somewhere down deep…..even in the subconscience….you will always be asking yourself that question….

  137. Dreambig Says:

    Oops. Artical.

  138. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo was called out to Pasco County to do some landscaping (Pablo hates Pasco County Rednecks) but Pablo needs the pesos. Anyway, Pablo was working a yard and some fellow wandered by wearing what looked to be a Bucs Winston Jersey #5…..Pablo thought it was homemade…because it looked real tacky…and when something looks tacky to Pablo…it’s really bad. This hombre was mumbling something under his breath like “I know he’ll be the pick, I know he’ll be the pick.” The Pasco Sherriff picked him up so Pablo doesn’t know what happened to him.”

  139. tmaxcon Says:

    Tampabaybucfan

Hopefully Winston has a hot little honey over talking dirty to him. Nothing wrong two consenting adults swapping fluids on a fine Friday evening.

  140. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Tmaxcon

As long as he has a witness or video to proove it’s consensual….he’s good to go!!

  141. tmaxcon Says:

    Nice

It sucks having to obtain IDs and signed consent forms to cover ones arse before the foreplay can begin.

  142. lions Says:

Well it would fit the Bucs as yahoo Sport put it a “dysfunctional franchise” to pick Winston.

  143. tmaxcon Says:

Next the consent forms will need to be notarized. At least that will create some jobs. Get some these freeloaders off the states nipple.

  144. Dreambig Says:

Tbbf, does Pablo know Jose jalapeño on a stick? You should be friends!

  145. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Tmaxcon

Unfortunately, I’m serious…..Winston will be a target…..everyone with money…especially celebrities are targets for extortion…..he will need to be extremely careful about the company he keeps and the choices he makes.
The accusation sets him up even more…..even if it’s bogus….it’s sort of like a warning shot….he needs to be very, very careful.

  146. tmaxcon Says:

    Tampabaybucfan

Oh I know you’re serious and I couldn’t agree with you more. I was mocking society and the direction it has taken more so than relating it to Winston. Just being a smart arse. I hate this wussified PC world. It’s gone to fair.

  147. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Dreambig

“Pablo met Jose…..as a matter of fact…..Pablo thinks you introduced him to Pablo as your partner. Jose said he “dreams big” and you answer his dreams”

  148. tmaxcon Says:

    Far auto correct

  149. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Tmaxcon

Hopefully, Winston will just marry his girlfriend and have triplets right away….I mean, you can get in trouble in any NFL city….but I guess Nashville is a good town for a family.

  150. tmaxcon Says:

Oh I’m sure they will adjust fine in Hillsborough County no need for them to visit Tennessee bucs don’t play them often enough for a second home

  151. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Oh…..if we don’t fix our line….It won’t matter because our QB won’t feel like going out after a beating..

Except for the dreaded off-season…I hate hearing news about our players…that’s when there is either trouble or an injury

It’s Friday night at 11:13pm….do you know where your future franchise QB is?

Somewhere down deep…..even in the subconscience….you will always be asking yourself that question….

Actually, call me crazy but it didnt even cross my mind, not even for a second, until you mentioned it. I’m being serious. And I guess its for 2 reason- the first I try not to judge anyone, and second its none of my business. We are in the business of being football fans, lets keep it to football. Thats how I feel about it anyhow.

  153. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If Winston is picked….maybe Joe can take credit…and convince Jameis to join us boring souls who spend their Friday nights on the site…..(staying out of trouble)

Notice….most of the bad boys of JBF are absent now….(no names)

  154. tmaxcon Says:

We definitely agree on the oline. I don’t trust eds or Mankins so in my mind they need 3 starters and 1 guy real close to being ready plus depth. It’s scary really

  155. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Andrew 1

It’s not judging…..it’s simply a matter of trust….or lack there of….you have it….I don’t yet…..Winston will have to proove it to me over time. I give him the benefit of the doubt on non-proven allegations….but what he has admitted to….gives me pause.

It’s sort of like having teenagers…..maybe you have one real well-behaved one who hangs with great kids….and the other has been in trouble and hangs with a rough crowd…..You wonder what they might be doing….it’s human.

  156. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Tmaxcon

I’m hoping they think Pamphile will be ready to start at RT……perhaps Edwards at RG……but that’s wishful thinking.

It’s still early yet for the types of players we are targeting this year….so far so good on the mid-talent depth additions.

  157. Andrew 1 Says:

Idk, I dont have any kids or anything, but I do know if he starts missing games as a buc because of any off the field stuff, then its a problem. But I really dont think we will have to worry about that. some of those things he got in trouble for while in college have to do with college rules and he wont be in college anymore. like saying obscenities to a student body, or getting hook ups on food and such.

  158. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Andrew 1

Usually when i ask where your future franchise QB was…..I don’t mention Winston…..

    but….everyone takes the bait…..

  159. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Andrew

Actually, I think Winston is a good person…..and means well…..I really think he just wants to be loved by everyone and many of the stunts were showoff attempts to gain approval. I think he’ll probably be OK. But he will be under a microscope and he will definately be a target.
Most NFL teams don’t like distractions and if he is picked….let’s hope the distractions surrounding him are minimal.

  160. Andrew 1 Says:

Obviously the rape allegation was the big one, but I remember when a current starting QB named Big Ben had not one, but two rape allegations and other than being jeered, it really didn’t torpedo his career or anything. The guy even went on to win a super bowl. Like I said, lets just keep it to football when it comes to Winston as close as possible.

  161. Andrew 1 Says:

easier said than done, I know.

  162. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Andrew 1

Actually, what bothers me most about Winston was publicly yelling “FHRITP” and even though it was unrelated to the allegations….he was certainly advised by his civil attorneys to “keep cool”……watch what he does and says….that action was “industrial strength stupid”……It is the type of character that says….
    “I don’t give a damn what anyone thinks….I’m ME”

  163. Andrew 1 Says:

    @TBB

I really dont see it like that. I see it as typical college immature language. I know Ive said things of that nature while in college, But you’re right he should have used better judgement especially since he has been put under a microscope. But again, thats something that he really cant get a trouble for once he’s drafted.

  164. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Andrew 1

Even in college….if you were a QB and were accused of rape…..can you see yourself saying that publicly?…….I doubt it….

Good chatting with you again….it’s been a while since the Freeman/Schiano days.

    I’m alling it a night…..

  165. Andrew 1 Says:

Lol peace TBBF. Have a good night.

  166. Joe Says:

    87:

Never saw that “Legend” story before. Thanks for pointing that out.

  167. grafikdetail Says:

Looking at Winston’s intangibles, the majority of observers will allow his off-field behavior to cloud the traits that he displays on the field, but I will step out and say that his “football character” is outstanding when he steps onto the field. – Bucky Brooks

  168. grafikdetail Says:

“There is really no franchise quarterback in this draft, even though Mariota could go No. 1. He’s not Andrew Luck. He’s not in that elite of elite category. Could he be really good? If you’re patient with him, if you wait and let him evolve, and we don’t write him off as a bust early on, then you’re fine.” — Mel Kiper

  169. Whyarewinstonfansbrainwashed Says:

Bucs won’t draft Jameis as long as Lovie Smith is the head coach #donttrustanybody

  170. Josh P. Says:

    @TBBF

“It’s Friday night at 11:13pm….do you know where your future franchise QB is?

Somewhere down deep…..even in the sub-conscience….you will always be asking yourself that question….”

Where ever the hell he wants to be…i try not to think about 21 year old men at 11:13 at night or during the day for that matter. But to answer your question, i bet you my paycheck you wake up in the morning any you don’t read anything about him getting in trouble..

  171. Kyle Says:

It’s pretty simple….. Bucnut2 you are a complete idiot. Period

  172. Bucfan4life Says:

Lol @ Josh P. There is no point arguing with the Mariota mob. MM is not even in the discussion for the number one pick now and they still just want to bash Winston and say that he is only being hyped because if his FSU ties. For the record I went to UCF and I don’t believe Mayock, Kiper, or McShay are FSU grads. Why are they all touting this kid as the clear number 1 pick? Strange! If you read the article Joe referenced in his post, it does appear that Mariota knows this too and sees his best chance is to be drafted by the Jets at 6. Unless philly trades up for him that is the earliest he will go. Of course he said he wants to convince the Bucs to take him number one. However, he really seems to know that he needs to convince the Jets to take him because that is his best shot at going in the top 10.

  173. Josh P. Says:

    @Bucfan4life

The only thing holding all these analyst back from calling Winston a no brainier at the #1 pick is the off field stuff. If JW had a squeaky clean image, Mariota wouldn’t even be in the conversation of top pick. But if you want good TV drama and high ratings you have to have a heroine and a villain…Mariota will probably be a good QB in the NFL, just not next year. Don’t forget Mariota himself even said that he hopes he just goes to a team with the right system and have yet to hear him personally say I WANT TO BE A BUC!!

  174. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

  176. Josh P. Says:

    @Supersam

Your probably right since he spent all that time watching him at his pro day. Titans had 9 front office people(both GM and HC included) at MM proday….The Bucs sent 4 and only Licht was there out of him and Lovie. just saying..

Then you never were a fan to begin with….so long.

People like you need to dig deeper into the allegations, that’s what the internet is for.

If I said you raped my sister, does that mean it’s true? According to you it does.

  181. Buccfan37 Says:

Call it what it is, the Winston mob is growing while the Mariota sect is diminishing. I can’t call Mariota’s followers a mob because there are just not enough of them. The Winston mob seem certain he will be the pick. If the draft goes against the Winston mob, the expressed anger will be quite comical. Talk about squashed hopes.

  182. 87ForJameisNOMariota Says:

Winston is so cocky that I think after he folds up the number 1 jersey, he might tell the media he’s keeping that number.

  183. White Tiger Says:

I’ll leave you one from QB expert Uncle Rico:

“…Kid Fameis can throw a football over that mountain over there…”
