Appearing very relaxed after the ousting of Greg Schiano — on Twitter and in the locker room –Bucs tight end Tom Crabtree is back to his old self under the new Lovie Smith regime. His unpredictable sense of humor has returned.
Joe caught up to Crabtree yesterday and he got a little defensive about his tattoos, as you’ll see in the video below. Crabtree was on the field for this week’s three day minicamp but coaches didn’t have him do much as his bicep is still rehabbing. (Enjoy this exclusive JoeBucsFan.com locker room video. It can only be posted for 24 hours)
Thanks to the NFL and Buccaneers.

One thing that blew Joe’s mind about the greatness of Lavonte David was him calling defensive plays as a rookie, and playing like a madman on the field, literally everywhere the ball was.
Well, under Lovie Smith’s defense, the weakside linebacker no longer calls defensive plays. That responsibility has been handed off to middle linebacker Mason Foster. [read more]

When Demar Dotson stands up, he is one large man. Part of that is the Bucs offensive right tackle stands a whopping 6-9, 315. He’s a friggin’ billboard.
Dotson, one of the nicest guys Joe has ever dealt with, is also the last man standing from the 2013 offensive line. Gone is Donald Penn. Gone is Ted Larsen. Gone is Jeremy Zuttah. Gone is Davin Joseph. Carl Nicks remains in toe purgatory, relegated to watching practice from the sidelines. [read more]

Lovie Smith offered a strong endorsement of Jeff Demps today
Jiminy Christmas! Lovie Smith was talking today like Jeff Demps has a roster spot locked up Jeff Tedford will be scolded if he can’t find ways to unleash Demps’ Olympic speed on the NFC South.
Joe’s exaggerating, but when Joe asked Lovie today what he thought about the guy he dubbed “the fastest man in the NFL,” Lovie didn’t hold back his excitement. [read more]

Mason Foster planned to feast at the Buccaneers team barbecue right after practice today, but that’s out of the norm for him.
Foster is leaner and says he’s faster as a result. Right after the Super Bowl, Foster vowed to change his eating habits and looked for an OK from Bucs coaches. [read more]

Gerald McCoy appeared this morning on what sometimes is a terrible show, NFL Network’s “NFL AM.” When that show is co-hosted by that empty-head Nicole Zaloumis, she totally drags the show down to an unwatchable level. All she wants to talk about is friggin’ dancing. Otherwise, she rarely opens her trap.
At least with traffic-stopping hottie Molly Qerim, she knows football and is an asset to the show (in more ways than one). [read more]

When the NFL schedule was about to be announced, many pundits figured there was a lot of interest in the Bucs-Bears game because of Lovie Smith.
The new Bucs coach is here, in part, because he was jettisoned by the Bears nearly two seasons ago after the gall to win 10 games. [read more]

Enjoy this exclusive video from the Buccaneers locker room with punt returner/kick returner Eric Page, complete with footage from the Bucs’ opening minicamp this week.
Page has been getting lots of action with the first team receivers, as well, a fact Joe had trouble spitting out in the video. Watch it now. NFL rules won’t allow Joe to show this more than 24 hours. Enjoy.
Thanks to the Buccaneers and the NFL.

“I tried to stop you, Johnny, and I couldn’t.”
Lovie Smith has prepared for many dangerous, multi-talented quarterbacks in his days as a linebackers coach, defensive coordinator and head coach.
And one top draft guru thinks that perspective of the game helps make Johnny Football a likely target of the Bucs. [read more]

Bucs OC Jeff Tedford
So what do quarterbacks visiting the Bucs, whether they be tryout players or Johnny Football or Teddy Bridgewater, actually do at One Buc Palace?
Of course, Joe doesn’t have all the answers, but it seems Aaron Rodgers’ 2005 Pro Day from “Cal” has been resurrected. [read more]

Bucs DE Adrian Clayborn will be an unrestricted free agent after this season, if not re-signed by the Bucs.
The speculation is now fact. The Bucs will not exercise the fifth-year option of Bucs defensive end Adrian Clayborn, as reported by Greg Auman and Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times yesterday afternoon.
Clayborn’s first three season were largely marred by an ugly knee injury and lack of sacks, which is not a great combination. Had the Bucs picked up his option, it would have meant a windfall for Clayborn of $6.96 million in 2015. [read more]

Bucs QB Josh McCown likes his teammates to “make plays.” This term irked Greg Schiano.
Joe almost feels for Bucs starting quarterback Josh McCown. The guy is just about talked out. He has done countless interviews, both locally and nationally, discussing the Bucs offense, despite the fact he really can’t talk about the offense, under orders from the Bucs, of course.
There is very little McCown can say until he has a few more practices under his belt. But one thing he did say today at One Buc Palace was, in so many words, McCown wouldn’t have been a Schiano Man. [read more]
