The resurrection of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has to begin on the defensive end, but improvements are mandatory on the other side of the ball.
Yes, Tampa Bay led the NFL in passing yards last season. Who cares? [read more]

A dreary Friday edition of the JoeBoltsFan podcast as Tom Lang breaks down why our Lightning blew a 3-0 lead Wednesday night (looking at you, McDonagh). No, it’s not time for a full on panic. But how many times must the lesson be learned? It’s a fair question. From Disappointment to a Quick Redemption? Let’s go Lightning, Let’s go Bill Currie Ford!

PRESENTED BY BILL CURRIE FORD

Joe wouldn’t bet on center Ryan Jensen being on the Bucs in 2020.
That’s just salary cap reality when you look at the Tampa Bay offensive line, as well as Jensen being older than Ali Marpet and Donovan Smith, and how Jensen performed last year. [read more]
PARTY IS FREE! (The buffet is not.) Don’t miss the fun — indoors and outdoors! At least 700 were in the house on Night 1 of the draft last year, including Mr. Derrick Brooks.

Has mental-breakdown experience
All the games count and teams have zero control over the NFL schedule, other than the ability to place a request that may be honored.
But next week’s NFL regular-season-schedule release will be very critical for this Bucs team, Joe believes. [read more]

Not always frothing in games.
Joe has decided to document highlights of Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians captured when he coached Arizona during the inaugural season of “All or Nothing,” a “Hard Knocks”-like miniseries by NFL Films that follows a pro or college team throughout a season and is exclusive to Amazon. Some highlights Joe hopes will help fans learn what to expect from the 12th coach in franchise history. This series of posts will appear periodically until the days leading up to the draft later this month.
In a previous story, Joe noted he could understand how Arians had health problems because the guy nearly had coronaries on the sidelines from blowing up so badly. [read more]

Fills critical need.
If every position were equal, Andy Benoit of theMMQB.com knows what position he would draft at No. 5 if he was Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. [read more]

Popular NFL analyst no fan of new Bucs starting LB.
Look, we all know the Bucs defense was a football atrocity the past two seasons and former Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith should be brought up on charges at The Hague for crimes against humanity. [read more]

“Greg, I said, ‘Put a shirt on’ not ‘bank on Da’Quan.”
Slam-dunk picks in the first-round of the NFL Draft are extremely rare. Just look at the mess Bruce Arians’ Cardinals made in Round 1 over five years.
Sure, Andrew Luck, Luke Kuechly, Ndamukong Suh, Quenton Nelson and Ezekiel Elliott, for example, were considered 100-percent, can’t-miss picks in advance of their respective drafts. [read more]

Sure, if the Lightning win this series nobody will think of it that way. Todd Wright discusses how many dismissed Columbus’s strengths as a “worthy opponent” and why that opinion changed quickly and quietly on Wednesday night.

For the last three years, Todd Wright has been podcasting here almost exclusively on fantasy football and Lightning playoff hockey. While those podcasts are alive and well, Todd has a new podcast for 2019. And it simply covers pretty much anything that Todd finds interesting. No limits. Sort of like he did for nearly two decades on national radio as host and creator of AllNight with Todd Wright on ESPN, in addition to other roles with Fox Sports Florida, Sirius/XM, Sporting News Radio, etc. Our thanks to Brandon Legal Group for their continuing support of both Todd Wright Tour golf tournaments as well as the TODDcast into 2019. Enjoy.
Back at the NFL Owners Meetings in Phoenix, Joe cornered various big names in the NFL to try and extract information about the Buccaneers’ draft plans.
And for those who saw Mike Tomlin getting extremely loud with Joe in the courtyard of the Arizona Biltmore resort, it had nothing to do with the Tampa Bay draft board. [read more]
