Joe Tryon-Shoyinka Will Break Streak Of 62 Consecutive Games

November 30th, 2024

Streak ends.

Joe would be remiss to overlook a Tampa Bay ironman missing his first career game tomorrow.

Outside linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka (sorry, Joe can’t call JTS an edge rusher) was the Bucs’ first-round draft pick in 2021, and the dude has never missed a game.

It’s been a run of 62 regular season games (2,415 snaps) and 5 postseason contests.

That’s a lot of football and a testament to how well JTS takes care of his body, but that run will end because of an ankle injury last Sunday in New Jersey.

Tryon-Shoyinka has started all 11 games this season, but Joe suspects there won’t be any Bucs fans worried about losing his services tomorrow. This has been the least productive season for JTS and he’s probably better than Anthony Nelson, who is sure to start in his place.

The Bucs didn’t put Tryon-Shoyinka on injured reserve, so Joe expects him back within a few weeks.

Hope he heals up while Nelson has a multi-sack game in his absence

  2. Derek Says:

Him and Logan Hall are literally invisible on the field. Horrible high draft picks

  3. JimBobBuc Says:

I hope he gets well quickly- so we can trade him this offseason??

  4. Beeej Says:

Nelson has a slightly higher pff, 3 acks, can’t see total snaps

  5. drdneastup Says:

Who . OT’s will miss him because now they won’t be able to take mid game naps when he is in.

Not wishing any ill will but I’m glad we get to see Braswell take center stage tomorrow with Tryon out. Hopefully he’s not in coverage the majority of the game but it’s good to see his reps will increase tomorrow. Tryon has the look and superior athleticism but has never developed the tools to rush at this level. I was willing to give him more time since he skipped his senior year due to covid but his time is officially up. Hopefully we see a jump tomorrow out of one of the young guys.

  7. Mhystc Says:

Hopefully we finally get to see Jose Ramirez

  8. Dave Pear Says:

The pass rush automatically improves. The run defense gets better. Maybe Young only betters his career best by a little bit.

i dont know who this guy is? Isnt that picture our starting corner Mccollum?

A lot of yall hate on JTS and for good reason. High draft pick and not very productive but the thing I think most fans over look is Bowles has him dropping into coverage zone and covering RB. He has to do a lot more than just rush the passer. Maybe in a diff system he would do better. It’s not like he doesn’t have the talent or the mental makeup.

  11. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Jill will make just as many splash today as she has the rest of her career. Zero.

JTS is a Situational guy not a Starter or Every down player .
The expectations placed on him were to high!!

He is good as a Depth piece not a every down player

  13. ThatAintRight! Says:

Good riddance, guy did nothing as a starter anyways. Zzz

Logan hall hadn’t really done anything either so next man up….

Gholston managed a very long career in NFL , surprisingly he also really wasn’t that great either. Good at tackling rbs at the LOS that’s it.

I’m drafting signing all new defense and going all in for SB next year. Todd Bowles probably has to be demoted though. Lol just saying.

  14. Pewter Power Says:

Textbook Bowles I’m going to do what doesn’t work until there’s an injury. Even if Ramirez and Braswell come in and provide an upgrade in pass rush, when JTS is healthy Bowles will but him back in the starting lineup.

  15. Jordan Says:

Been waiting for Braswell to get more snaps for awhile.
