Buccaneers 16, Falcons 0

November 1st, 2026

Hey, the Bucs finally won a home game! A shutout!

And they won back-to-back games for the first time since October 12 of last year.

How bout those 3-5 Buccaneers, holders of second place in the NFC South landfill. They’ve won three out of their last four after a horrific 0-4 start.

What a strange Bucs team. After not completing a pass today, the Bucs have now completed a total of seven passes in the past two weeks. Unreal. And they’ve had dominant wins in each game.

Today, the Bucs rumbled for 310-plus yards on the ground in a steady rain at The Licht House. It was the kind of physical, angry defense of the home turf Bucs fans have yearned to see for weeks.

Impressive stuff. Very impressive.

The defense, obviously, was lights out. Alex Anzalone had first-quarter interceptions on consecutive drives. Atlanta was 0-for-12 on third down. Zyon McCollum also added a key interception late, while Jacob Parrish had a meaningless one on a fourth-down throw he should have batted down.

The Bucs were prepared for the elements. The Falcons were not.

Now the Bucs have one more game to win — at Chicago on Sunday — in order to become contenders rather than pretenders. After that game, it’s a Week 10 bye week. Entering the bye 3-6 would be a miserable end to what has been a nice run. Man up and win it, Bucs!

The Bucs indeed have found an identity. They’re playing football like it’s 1985. Hammer the rock on the ground and play stout defense.

The formula still works.

For now.

What a pitiful effort by the defense – ZERO SACKS!

You can’t win if you don’t get sacks, everyone knows that!

  4. Rod Munch Says:

Baker literally doesn’t complete a pass this game, and still gets the cover picture. LOL!

Wow. What a game and what a great win.

The only thing I didn’t like was that Tucker got zero carries. But great game.

I’ve never seen a win or two game stretch like this. I love that the Bucs have an identity on offense.

I have no problem eating crow amd thats exactly what im doing.
The defense looked great in all aspects and the oline and running
    Game were elite.

Just like the good ol dungy days of defense and running game domination.
    Keep it up!

  25. Ghost Says:

    Where’s tucker?

  26. chad Says:

baker could’ve been 2-3 with a touchdown if receivers don’t drop the ball

  27. MadMax Says:

Screw you Baker, its all your fault! 😉

  28. HairyLarry Says:

I like the method here. If you don’t have to throw, which is very rare, then dont. I like where this is going. Old school. But we have to win at Bears.

  29. Coconut Doughnut Says:

    Awesome punishing game!

  30. firethecannons Says:

Very Very fun to watch this game! Another game that was a real pleasure! Loved it! Go Bucs!!!!!!

    I love that Baker went 0/3. #legend

He’s going to have a blast with that stat in his press conference.

That’s a historical badge of honor!

  34. buc4evr Says:

OrlandoBucFan, not 1955, the Bucs are playing like it’s 1905 , before forward passes were even allowed in the NFL. lol.

I have never seen a NFL game like this. It’s insane.

  35. Will008 Says:

Or rather, they already played this week and lost and had their bye last week @chad

  36. chad Says:

will008… your right i stand corrected. yeah we stay 2nd in the division

  37. Logic Ova Feelings Says:

Great win and this formula is tried and tested. It looks crazy in the modern era but running the ball effectively and stopping the run/playing great defense will win games.

It looks like the team everyone thought would make a playoff run, had woken up…

  38. Michael Says:

Great game for our Bucs! Wonder how many so called “Buc Fans” actually watched? Go Bucs!

  39. Will008 Says:

This formula won’t work versus the Bears, but it’s been fun for two weeks

  40. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Awesome win!! Ground and pound! Don’t remember a game ever from anyone with 0 yards through the air. Maybe New England. 310 yards on the ground against (what was) the #4 defense against the run. Outstanding!! Keep it up boys!!

  41. Dbbuc711 Says:

Never saw a game like this before,
    Dammmmm!!!!!!

  42. Oldbucsfan Says:

Great defense and run game is what we got, and all we need to make it! Still love that the defense lead in receiving today! Hahahaha

  43. Oxycondomns Says:

great use of using baker as a decoy

  44. King of Citrus Park Says:

I did not think that running game was for real. But it is. 324 on the ground. If they can keep that up, with the D, they will be tough to deal with.

  45. chad Says:

this was just such a good win. baker didn’t do hardly anything and that’s ok. we win and it gives baker a chance to keep healing his thumb. bucs have a run first identity which is exactly what they need to be. just got to stay healthy

  46. It’s Exciting!!! Says:

    Todd Bowles for president!!!!

  47. Steven #55 Says:

Just keep winning the divisional games

  48. Will008 Says:

Pretty concerned about Mayfield’s abilities … but we’ll see

    —————————————————————————————–
I have said a lot of negative things about Baker when he plays poorly. But today, I have to give him much respect for his selfless game. He didn’t care about having 0 passing yards an no completions. As usual, he was downfield blocking on running plays.
That might be a statistic for the history books but I have to give Baker his props today.

  50. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    Great, gritty defensive win.

  51. Will008 Says:

@atlbuc Yes, cannot doubt he is a complete team player

  52. Logic Ova Feelings Says:

    Vince Lombardi is somewhere smiling…😁

  53. chad Says:

will008.. that’s understandable after the last two games. but honestly the o-line is playing better and i think baker will be able to get completions. play calling is what’s terrible right now. minus when we’re able to run the ball

  54. Tackleblockwin Says:

Did our defense catch more passes than our offense today?

  55. BucaneroJim Says:

Chad… Baker could have been 3 fumbles with 3 turnovers again. To his credit he resecured the ball after the poor snaps/fumbles.

  56. Ex-Browns02 Says:

What a victory! Awesome line play on both sides of the ball. Even Fabio has come to life!

My opinion: This is a team that has come together and figured it out.

    Next up!

    Go Bucs!!

  57. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Baker is a fantastic QB (when he only needs to have off the ball and the Defense looks like 1999)

  58. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘Hammer the rock on the ground and play stout defense. The formula still works. For now.’

You were doing soooo good Joe, until you let the pessimism slip in.

Defense still wins championships, and if our defense pitches a shutout for every remaining game, we’ll end up 12-5. Am I holding my breath on that? Not a chance. But the way our defense played today, they SHOULD be able to keep us in just about every remaining game this year.

And IF what it takes for our offense to ‘pull its’ weight’ is to run the ball on every single play, then so be it.

  59. ChiBuc Says:

    I love it!

  60. chad Says:

bucanerojim.. that’s what i’m saying though. in the conditions today. bucs did what they needed to.

  61. Steve V Says:

    Capt. Obvious! Whooohooo

  62. Bucsarg Says:

To me it was beautiful. Zach was not involving the tight ends in the first couple of possessions. It seemed like as the game went.on our tight ends were leading all the run plays that worked. Atlanta knew it was coming and still.vould not stop us. That is a thing of beauty.Baker was even blocking on run plays. By the fourth quarter they were out of gas. Go bucs.

  63. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Chad, how can you call the play calling terrible today? More proof you are an idiot. And stop saying that Hurst dropped the ball in the end zone. For the millionth time it was punched out by the DB on a really good play.

  64. Tucker Says:

I don’t know to feel about this no competition nonsense dumpster division but a win is a win I guess dunno feel like it’s gonna be a season just good enough to ruin a draft we will see I guess go bucs?

  65. chad Says:

alvin… play calling was give bucky and kenny the ball in these conditions and they delivered, im talking about overall play calling this season which everyone here can agree has been terrible. and once again, even though it was punched out by the defender it is still considered a dropped pass

  66. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Our offensive identity is Army Knights lol

  67. Logic Ova Feelings Says:

The Lions just did the same thing to the Vikings. Running the ball effectively will always work in football. Somewhere Barry Switzer is smiling…

  68. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Stefanski should just bust out the fullhouse/Wishbone against Chicago just to show don’t need a full page of plays then just shift out of it lol

  69. Hodad Says:

It’s hard to get shutout in the NFL no matter the weather. I think Atlanta made a big mistake not taking 3 early in the game when it was 6 nothing. Well done Bucs.

  70. buc4evr Says:

Great win,but they will never be able to do this again. Zac needs to get his act together as far as play calling and the WRs need to learn to hold on to the ball. Especially Hurst – the guy is a total dud so far.

  71. #1bucsfan Says:

One game at a time. On to the next. Defense pitches a shutout. They are playing great this season few hiccup but they are the reason we are still in this. Good job Bowles and co

  72. SkunkApe Says:

    Joe Says:

    They’re playing football like it’s 1985.

No. This is 1950’s ball. Teams were throwing the ball in 1985.

  73. Allen Lofton Says:

Down and dirty Bucs game. Their running game is their new identity. Amazing game under tough conditions. And Baker gets a revenge game over his previous HC who dumped him in Cleveland.
Couldn’t ask for a nicer day on a rainy day in Tampa.

  74. Debbie Says:

@Truestorybuccaneers, you are correct in our Division, we have 2 wins against Panthers and Falcons. Falcons have 1 win in our division, Panthers have one win in our division and Saints have 0 in our division. The NFL likes to post Conference standings, which we are second in our division, and Panthers are first. We need to win the Division to enter the playoffs, without needing to play that extra game. Go Bucs!

  75. Bartow Buc Says:

They will run through a wall for Baker Mayfield!! And they did !! And they will !!

    Great win Bucs fans !!

    Go Bucs !!

  76. Arn Platz Says:

I am starting to believe in Todd and Zach! Amazing job in turning things around.

  77. Jmarkbuc Says:

Now we have to go and play a good team.

  78. Stpetematt Says:

Switching back to power/counter/gap runs has done wonders for this team. Guards pull wonderfully. The offensive line was truly dominant for the second game in a row. They should be able to do this all season if they can do it against Atlanta who typically stop the run really well! If we successfully mix in the play action pass Baker can uncork some big ones once his thumb finishes healing. In the meantime, he adds the threat of a pass at any time which is good enough to win with the O-line kicking as$ like this!

  79. When is enough enough! Says:

Is the Oline finally figuring it out?

  83. Firethecannonsbt Says:

You really think I’m upset that we got 4 turnovers today and didn’t get any sacks today?

    Wow, talk about low IQ.

  85. So Cal Bucs Fan Says:

That was one fun game to watch! Go Bucs!

  86. orlbucfan Says:

I srill don’t totally trust BM. The offense has to open up with offensive plays. You have WRs like CG14, etc. Add on the TEs and RBs. What is with these headache green OCs?

  87. Colin in Canada Says:

Dominant win. All the fans who give up after a couple losses need to remember there are 17 games in a season.

  88. BucEm Says:

Seriously though is the Carpet Muncher ok?????

  89. bob in valrico Says:

THe o line did great aided the tight ends. Otten earns his money the hard way.
Even saw our Bauer Sharp set up a nice run. No doubt about it turnovers are momentum changers if offense takes advantage of them. Hats off to Anzalone,he is a great add to the team. MCcullum and Parris are also playing great.

  90. ir8oldman Says:

Panthers played on Thursday and lost to the Packers. They already have had their Bye (week 5 or so).

So they are 3 and 4. And it just percentage points as to why they are in first place in the Landfill Division.

Bears will have a short week plus a long flight. Gonna need some pass yards next week.

    Go Bucs!

  91. Danfan Says:

Rod Munch did comment earlier, just that since Baker didn’t have any turnovers, he joked about Baker not doing much but still having the cover pic.

Baker played decently all things considered – he could’ve been 1 of 3 with a TD and about 20 yards, if Hurst hasn’t dropped a probable touchdown pass. Conditions weren’t conducive to a big passing game, a la penix throwing 4 INTs and only completing 8 of 24. Baker also had a nice scramble and lateral, though Irving having it pinched out had no effect on Baker’s passing stats.

  92. 80sBucsfan Says:

Extend BOWLES now! We’re back baby! Division champs again.

Run it back next year! Don’t change a thing.

  93. Stpetematt Says:

Also- as I said several times before the season started- Gainwell is WAY BETTER than Rachaad White.

  94. Kenton Smith Says:

Danfan. You know that on third and 5 Mayfield layered a perfect swing pass dead in the middle of Gainwell’s hands. Both of them. Easy first down and more. So Baker should have been 2-3 with a TD.

These last two games it’s easy to say anybody could have been playing Quarterback. Easy to say for a football imbecile. Making QB play look easy is a hard thing to do.

  95. Wyoming Joe Says:

Baker could have been 2-3 with a TD on the first drive. Yes, Hurst dropped the ball more than the CB making a great defensive play. That’s the second TD drop this year for the rookie – both in the rain. Just glad we won.
