Evans: “More Shots” Coming

Mike Evans fingers change

Evidence keeps mounting that more homerun balls are coming to the Bucs offense.

Consider what Mike Evans told The Rich Eisen Show today. Eisen asked Evans what would be different about the offense this year, and Evans responded with ease.

“I think we’ll be more disciplined and, you know, more shots down the field,” Evans said, adding it would be more of what fans saw last year but better on third down.

As playcaller/head coach Dirk Koetter said this week that the evolution and improvement of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, would allow for more of an “attack mode” out of the gate.

Joe shouldn’t even have to type how the Bucs are primed to go deep against a weak Atlanta pass rush on Sunday. And with a healthy Vincent Jackson restoring “calm” to the offense, per Jameis, it might make for an electric opening day.

Nothing shuts a crazy, dome-enhanced home crowd down like a quick-strike touchdown by the offense.

2 days! Can’t wait! GO BUCS!!

  2. Dave Pear Says:

I have Evans on my Fantasy team too. Along with Winston, Sims and the Tampa Bay defense. Took a lot of smack talk during the draft but, I said just wait. I will win this league. OH, and my team name is BUC$!

  3. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Let’s not talk about a weak anything on another team because how many times have heard that like we were supposed to feast on them like everyone else and we didn’t? Later in the year when people can’t believe their team got beat all they can say is AWWW SHUCKS IT’S THE BUCS!!!!!!

  4. Pickgrin Says:

“More shots” from Winston will be most welcomed.

Mike – just don’t get into “more shots” mode with your previous QB. We all saw where that road led to. No-wheres-ville

  5. BigStinky Says:

I want Mike and Jameis to have a game like they did against the Browns. Mike should have over 150 yards and 2 TD’s by the time it’s over. I am too jacked up for this game I think, hate when this happens ’cause I am usually let down by the Bucs. We need to start the year with a win in Atlanta. Go BUCS!

  6. tmaxcon Says:

this is Mike Evans year. He and Jameis are about to start a special run… we are so very lucky.

  7. Destro44 Says:

The falcons are starting a rookie mlb, I expect Koetter to attack him with the tight ends and sims. Their safeties are not great but their top two corners can play.

  8. BuccaneEric75 Says:

The picture looks like Evans is trying to hold hands with VJax! Lol!

  9. IndyBucs Says:

Man congratulations to Mike! Awesome that he’s having a baby I hope it doesn’t take too much attention away from him this year though.
I think we can all expect big things out of him and hopefully next year he will be considered a top 5 wideout.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Attack relentlessly until it’s over please. Think Sims will shine.

  11. Bob in valrico Says:

    @tmax
I agree,100 percent on this one.hope VJAX adds a thousand or more
    Also.

  12. Erik w/ Clean Athletics & United Games - a new 'Interactive' Fantasy Sports app by the makers of Madden Football Says:

My predictions for this game are:

    W 45-10 Bucs

Jameis will have 400 yds passing

We will have (2) 100-yd receivers & 1 of them, Mike Evans, will have 200yds.

Doug Martin will have 100yds rushing

Defense will have 6 sacks and 2 Int’s

  13. Dave Pear Says:

    @Erik,

I hope you are right. I would definitely win my Fantasy head to head.

  14. Poor Glennon Says:

We are so very lucky? Ooooh boy. We had them both last year as well. How did that go? 6-10

  15. unbelievable Says:

Been trying to figure out who’s name poor Glennon used to post under…

  16. unbelievable Says:

ME13 sounds focused… All business indeed. Go Bucs!

  17. Kyle in Savannah Says:

Lol, love the bucs and the optimism of a new season. Eric you better take it easy man, don’t want to see you jumping off the skyway Sunday night….

gonna be a tough game , I think we are evenly matched. I’m looking at a 24-21 type outcome. Not sure who wins.

    Go bucs

  18. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

How is it possible one can look at these two roster’s and come away with evenly matched. Our defense alone has 4 pro bowlers. And E that sounds about right to me. Sunday these none believers gone see what me and you been saying.

  19. DB55 Says:

Nothing will make you mature faster than a wife and a baby girl at home. Congratulations Mike, blessings.

  20. Bob in Valrico Says:

Evans can be so good he can make it look easy,in week 17 at Carolina Evans was so wide open on the four strikes for 99 yards several defenders were around him but they couldn’t stop him.The only stop Josh norman had is when he pushed Evans out of the endzone.oh and Jameis put one in Norman hands and he dropped it.Atlanta doesn’t have the D. Carolina has and can’t surround Evans because we have other targets in VJAX,sims, brate and ASJ.llets hang 35 points on Atlanta for Koetter and Smith just for the fun of it.

  21. Bob in Valrico Says:

To quote Herm Edwards: You play to win the game.Think we finally have coaches that believe in that philosophy. players finally have something to buy into.

BUCS NEED BALLERS. Winning is all that matters..The Great…Vince Lombardi.

  26. BigPoppaBuc Says:

I’m with you STRIDER… All these months of waiting, blogging, fantasy drafting and trash talking so I can come home at Eleven and watch the recording. No way I’ll be able to avoid already knowing the outcome.

    GO BUCS!

  27. cmurda Says:

Mike got married, has a daughter en route, and sounds locked in. And, yes, he’s on my fantasy team too. And so is V Jax. And I don’t care if I’m a homer. Yeah I tried to get Charles Simms too. I said it.

  28. SOEbuc Says:

Mike sounds so much more mature and focused this year. VJ looks and says he is in good shape (I dont hate on his age). If both of them could stay relatively healthy the entire year I think this 1-2 WR will be sick

  29. orlbucfan Says:

Always liked ME even as a rookie. He’s always been a gutsy player, and the zebras don’t intimidate him. He and Mr. V. Jackson will be a hellacious pair if Buc Luck doesn’t bite them. Hopefully, GMC will get plenty of DL help so he doesn’t have 600+ lbs. of OL hanging all over him. Will be paying attention to the Hump, Banks, the RBs, and seeing Aguayo hit a few long bombers. Looking forward to tomorrow. Go MIGHTY BUCS!!

“More Shots” Coming is what josh freeman said as well!!!! Unfortunately it was in South Tampa after 1 a.m.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
