There’s a lot of hand-wringing going on by national observers and even a few Buc fans about some of the things that went wrong Thursday night in Jacksonville.

Nick Folk had an extra-point attempt blocked and missed a field goal that caused Dirk Koetter to drop his head. The red-zone offense struggled at times. Jameis Winston turned in a bonehead play.

The way Koetter’s fortunes are running, he’d walk away from the tables hoarding enough chips to fill a tackling dummy. With one month left before the season opener in Miami, the best adjective to describe Bucs training camp is a word any NFL head coach would love to apply this time of the year.

Bob LaMonte won’t be in the audience during Jon Gruden’s Ring of Honor news conference this afternoon, but he sure was there when it counted.

There were a lot of contributors and factors in 2002, as Gruden was pried out of Oakland a year early. Al Davis received the price he wanted, Jim McVay was a valuable go-between and the Glazers weren’t about to return from the West Coast without a head coach to replace Tony Dungy. (more…)

Before he’s through tinkering at One Buc Place, Jason Licht may be responsible for drafting more than 100 players. I’ve got a feeling he has already signed off on the most rewarding pick he’ll ever make as an NFL executive.
