“Terrible Idea”

March 17th, 2020

Former NFL LB chimes in.

Not everyone believes the notion of the Bucs luring future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady to Tampa Bay is a wise move.

Take Emmanuel Ocho of BSPN, for example. The former NFL linebacker released a video on social media today where he explains the Bucs potentially signing Brady would be a “terrible move” for a couple of reasons.

His first reason holds a lot of merit and should not be lost on fans.

Last season, Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians admitted that for quarterbacks to learn his offense it takes roughly half a season, sometimes a bit more. Yes, Joe assumes that even means for an all-time great like Tom Brady.

And of course, whoever the Bucs choose as quarterback for this fall not named “Jameis” would be resetting that clock.

You can see Acho’s full take below. You may find his conclusion, well, interesting.

The only good move the glazers have made in 2 plus decades is firing dungy the ignorant one dimensional clown….

  2. Dano Says:

I hope Brady doesn’t use Bucs as leverage to sign with Chargers.

  3. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

You may see Brady bring his offense with him… he would be the Glazer’s new toy which means whatever he wants, he gets.

  4. NO FEAR... Says:

JOE,, IT JUST SEEMS TO ME YOU WOULD RIDE ON WINTSON TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF , AND THEN SOME …. TIME TO GET ANOTHER HORSE !!!!!!!

  5. Jean Lafitte Says:

a frickin linebacker knows best? I’m sure Arians will let Brady install a few of his own plays, plus Brady is not Winston and should grasp the playbook pretty fast.

  6. Larry Says:

No way Brady comes to Tamps given the fact he just started his own movie production company. Isn’t Cali the epicenter for the movie business???

  7. Mike Johnson Says:

If Tom Brady comes to the Bucs. It will pan out to be one of the worst (and we have several historically), Moves in our history. A 42 yr old immobile QB getting millions to play probably 8 or 9 games. He’s done guys. Stick a fork in’em. Belllacheat knows that.

  8. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

    Emmanuel…..God bless you!

  9. Bucsgotachance..todonothing Says:

Tom brady has declined lmao go look at the snaps..last year he loses grunk and all his wide outs..the years before his stats we’re great
    2019
    4,057 yards 24 tds 8 interceptions 88.0 qb rating
    2018
    4,355 yards 29 tds 11 interception 97.7 qb rating
    2017
    4,577 yards 32 tds 8 interceptions Qb rating102.8
    2016
3,554 yards 28 td interceptions 2 qb raiting
    112.2-hurt year

I don’t see a drop off at all..dude is delusional and looks dumb..tom brady wpuld of course change the offense

  10. Brett Says:

If the Bucs get him, his legs will stop working or his arm will turn into a noodle. There is a big risk signing him for two more years at his age.

  11. TexBuc Says:

Here it comes some “fans” try to flame anyone who thinks Winston is the QB. At least this guy actually played in NFL unlike most of us armchair QBs

  12. Ndog Says:

So if Bridgewater goes to Carolina, Rivers goes to Indy and Brady chooses the Chargers that leaves with……..?

  13. Buc_You-2 Says:

Man it’s almost as if everyone in the media is afraid of TB12 coming here I wonder why?

  14. Youngbucs Says:

Except Brady would have input also 🙄

  15. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

hearing Carolina is signing Teddy Bridgewater

  16. jerseybuc Says:

Team is ranked 30th in the league in winning percentage in the last decade. Jameis was at the helm for half that time. You can’t fall off the floor fellas. What is the worst thing that would happen? We would win what 2 games? Then we draft Lawrence. More likely is that with an emerging D, a WINNER in the house who can infuse that much needed culture into the clubhouse we will do better than last year. He excites the fans, increases attendance, teaches the team what it takes to win and is a bridge to the future.
Most of you complaining deserve a losing team. Think positive, better days are ahead even if you dummies can’t see it.

  17. TexBuc Says:

Yeah I could see Brady whispering into the Glazers ears now…..its okay trade away future picks and get this guy and I will get you a Super Bowl or just backload all these contracts so we can load this team up. Then next few year when we are in Cap hell with no draft picks.

  18. TexBuc Says:

Last time we had a “emerging” defense was in 2016, and then 2017 the defensed crashed and burned with historic pass completions with DC and HC getting fired in 2018.

  19. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Mike Johnson – I thought the same thing until I took a deeper dive into his play last year. A team with very little weapons around him he still is leaps and bounds ahead of anything out there. 75% of Brady beats 100% i’ve just about anybody else available. Check out the various YouTube clips of him for 2019. IMO, he looked exceptionally good.

  20. Joe Says:

Man it’s almost as if everyone in the media is afraid of TB12 coming here I wonder why?

    Haha! 🙂

i guess its not all doom and gloom for you lil pup…lol…JW might return by default which isnt something to be proud about….lol…

we can still get carr in a trade, im thinking a 4th rounder would get it done….

maybe BA thinks blaine is a better option….he might be right….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  22. 941bucsfan Says:

    Welcome back Jameis 2yr 44mil

  23. TexBuc Says:

Dodged another bullet looks like Teddy is finalizing contract with the Panthers.

  24. RSJCheapSeats Says:

The Winston lovers just can’t wrap their heads around that their hero threw 30 Ints.

    Absurd.

  25. TexBuc Says:

BA: Hey Jameis lets go for lunch
Jameis: sorry coach i got a date with another coach
BA: Are you mad? You didn’t actually think I didn’t want you.
Jameis: Gotto go got another call will call you back

  26. Tbbucs3 Says:

Little does Tom Brady know about the toxic fan base and culture in Tampa.

  27. martinii Says:

Have to agree with MIKE JOHNSON. Love Brady as a player, undoubtably one of the Best if not the Best QB to play the game. However Buc’s will pay a fortune for a player at the end of his (Great) career who will be destroyed and humiliated by mid-season. IMO it is not worth diminishing Brady’s career when we we have options that will work well in BA’s system and build a playoff team without a quick fix foundation.

  28. Marine Buc Says:

According to sources Tom Brady has made his decision. We will all know very soon.

Zero state income tax… best receivers in the league… best pass rusher duo in the league… Bruce Arians… 7-9 team with a QB who threw 30 ints and 7 pick sixes…

He would be crazy to choose the Chargers over us but stranger things have happened with the Bucs…

  29. TexBuc Says:

Winston “haters” can’t wrap their heads around the fact that we got left at the Altar AGAIN.

    Runaway Bride…..there goes Tom

  30. H8JWLVEBUCS Says:

Panthers reach deal with Bridgewater to replace Cam

  31. RGD12 Says:

Per iconic source, Brady to Bucs!!! See ya Turnover Machine!! Would resign Winston for 1 million as backup/ waterboy or whipping boy.

  32. bucfan999 Says:

I get the feeling that Brady is going to LA. I think his wife is looking to start a movie career, Tom is starting a production company in LA and his parents are in California. It’s never been about money with Brady, before it was about winning and Superbowls but I just get the feeling now is he wants to continue to play and if the team wins great but his main focus is on his wife’s career, his new business and his family in California. So I think it’s the Los Angeles Chargers for the GOAT and Jameis is back here for year 2 with BA. I am good with this outcome as Jameis in my opinion will cut his INT total to around 15-18 next year and that will be good enough for us to be in the playoffs.

  33. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Tbbucs3

Huh? This franchise wasn’t won anything since 2002. Stop trolling dude. The Bucs are dam lucky to have any fans left at this point. Most losing franchise in pro sports history. The fan base is far more supportive than this franchise deserves.

  34. Jonzey Says:

He is right Brady is the best quarterback of all time and he has been declining for the past 3 years. Bruce loves to throw the deep ball and Brady love throwing it short. He is old and our line will not hold up for him the bottom line sign Winston

  35. Jonzey Says:

We won the championship in 2003 not 2002

  36. tmaxcon Says:

    Texbuc

Have you ever watched the bucs at the warehouse in Austin?????

  37. soggy Says:

No don”t sign JW sign Me for 1M and I promise my 1st toss will be a pick 6.. WE can replace JW

it was for the 2002 season pal…. i realize it’s hard to grasp with the public schools system being such a mess in Florida.

  39. TexBuc Says:

BA calls Jameis and goes directly to message: Hey man call me and Jameis Keep Firing Away!

Licht calls Jameis and goes directly to message: Hey Buddy call me and watch for me on twitter I’m jumping into a pool.

  40. Bucs_Fan_Orlando Says:

No way it would take 6 months.

I think Bruce would pick up Tom’s offense a lot faster than 6 months lol

  41. Buc4evr Says:

I also think that Brady moves back to California as its more about his production company and his family life at this point. He and his wife can make a lot more money out there.

  42. DooshLaRue Says:

    Teddy is a Panther!

  43. TexBuc Says:

Congrats Teddy on your new contract.

  44. Adrnagy Says:

Bucboi so your teddy is gone. At least you’ll see him twice like last year. But … now , who you got for Bucs QB ?

  45. Adrnagy Says:

Bucs are starting to look like idiots … all along clowns ! In HC and GM. … but mainly the glazers !
    Clowns.

  46. Coburn Says:

Would be so bucs to land the goat but then the season is cancelled because of corona

  47. Ndog Says:

So if Brady signs with the Chargers and Jameis says screw you, that leaves us with…..?

  48. 813bucboi Says:

    adrnagy

    congrats to teddy…..

    he’ll be a starter unlike JW….lol…

whoever we get, he’ll be better than the BUST that threw 30INTs!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  49. Adrnagy Says:

    Ndog…
stevek or bucboi will play at QB.

  50. Marine Buc Says:

    Adrnagy

I agree about the Glazers. But I don’t agree about BA… If Brady becomes a Buc it’s good. If Brady doesn’t become a Buc we get Winston back at a huge discount. What do we have to lose bro?

  51. soggy Says:

Leaves us without a superbowl winner and a never been to playoffs QB Pick 6 machine should I go on?

  52. D-Rome Says:

So if Brady signs with the Chargers and Jameis says screw you, that leaves us with…..?

    A quarterback that isn’t a turnover machine.

  53. 813bucboi Says:

    ndog

better question is, who does that leave JW with?….lol….

he would need a job right?….lol…

I watch from home NFL Ticket package.

  55. Bucfan81 Says:

I am going to guess Brady ends up with the chargers and we end up with Phillip Rivers. That would be a Buc move. We need to trade and get Derek Carr or draft a QB.

NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY FOR THE TAMPA BAY YUCCANEERS AND 90 YEAR OLD HEAD COACH, HAHAHAHAHA, BACK TO 30,000 IN THE STANDS NEXT SEASON BUT HEY FOR THE SMALL TV MARKET AND 30K FANS THEY WILL SPORT NEW UNIFORMS. BHAHAHAHAHAHA

  59. miken Says:

My guess is Brady to Miami… he wants a piece of the Pats, plus a 5th pick and total redesign of D. They could win the East

  60. 813bucboi Says:

  62. Adrnagy Says:

Marine buc. You right. But speaks volumes on the integrity of our team … why not come out and say from the get go….

Right now … it’s like a must to get the deal done with Brady.
If Brady never intended to come or consider Bucs it will look bad for BA and licht if that’s how you put it.

gruden is not going to trade carr to the bucs without fleecing the glazers big time. glazers being desperate, clueless and one 100% incompetent will back themselves into a corner and screw this entire off season up. just wait until the unproven 1 year wonder retires on active duty when he signs his long term contract cough cough retirement package from the glazer clowns…. barrett is much closer to sweezy than a sure thing.

  64. Adrnagy Says:

What do you do ….. you look at the guy that makes you smile !
Give the man Winston 150M. 5yrs. 100M guarantee.

  65. tmaxcon Says:

    marine

jameis would be foolish to sign a discounted team friendly deal with the bucs. he has earned his parole. a backup prove it deal on any other team would be a much better option than playing for the washed up has been that never was BA… hell even baseball would be better than coming back to this circus we love.

  66. King C Says:

    @Bucsgots achance
Stop arguing against a straw man
Nobody said Brady was declining or not good
Just that he’s not the best fit for an Arians offense
Arians pushes the ball down the field, Brady doesn’t — according to his recent stats.
    Simple as.

  67. Marine Buc Says:

Name one team that has been linked to Winston besides the Raiders?

I will wait… Winston will have zero choice. Take what BA offers you or go be a backup for $6-8 mil per season…

  68. Marine Buc Says:

And the Raiders just signed Mariota… What’s that tell you?

  69. tmaxcon Says:

    Marine Buc

not every team has leaks…. jameis will find work… too much upside and no other organization will count his time in Tampa against him not a single owner or gm of any other team takes the bucs seriously.

if you are in town on a bucs game day. They have great group of bucfans and drinks are cheap. bar can get a little sketchy after dark. it is best bucs spot on game days. I split time between new braunfels and colorado now and pop in occasionally on game days.

  72. soggy Says:

wait and see all we know now is BS and Rumors. Winston will be fine bucs will always be the bucs.

  74. passthebuc Says:

a typical example of how to screw up a team long term.

  75. LazyMoak Says:

    If TB goes Lala
both Jameis and the Bucs will be without a chair

  76. BucBoy Says:

Does any of you wonder why the Patriots didn’t resign Brady? Because Bill knows that Brady is too old and has nothing left in the tank. You don’t sign a 43 year old QB to a multi year contract at over $30 million a year. We will be laughing stocks paying him guaranteed money when he is no longer playing. The Patriots actually ate $13.5 million to get Brady to go away. AND THE PATRIOTS DIDN’T EVEN OFFER HIM A CONTRACT!

  77. Kord Says:

Brady is going to be a Buc by tomorrow.

  78. mh1023 Says:

    Lol

  79. LazyMoak Says:

    Parcels
    Parcels

    Brady ?
the Glazers have been left at the altar more times than Erkel

  80. WestChap Says:

Glazers are looking like professionals not clowns. There is nothing clownish about not giving $30M to a guy everyone else appears to view as a backup/project. There is nothing clownish about throwing your hat into the ring for the GOAT even if you can’t turn Florida into California to seal the deal. And, there is nothing clownish about keeping your cool as the cards fall around you even if it ends with a lower profile decision.

Brady is still possible… as is Dalton. Both would be upgrades to America’s QB Clown. Let’s see how this ends.

  81. Bucsdelight Says:

JW can search the market and realize he isn’t worth $30m. He is more of a $20-23m contract. So let’s say 2yr contract for $45m.

  82. mark2001 Says:

A terrible idea would be rolling with Jameis at this point.

  83. Dapostman Says:

If Tom Brady is still sooooo good why isn’t Belichick signing him to a deal?

Brady isn’t getting signed by the people who know him best just like Winston it seems.

    Buyer beware.

  84. D1 Says:

    Bucboy,

The pats offered Brady a 1 Yr deal. The problem is Brady wants to play till he’s 45, and the pats won’t offer that guarantee.

  85. D1 Says:

    Dapostman,

Brady has been looking for the opportunity to be a free agent. Considering that He’s stated multiple times that the relationship between himself and billichek is not the greatest. Playing for Billichek is not fun and Brady has stated he believes he’s earned more respect than he’s afforded by the coach. Gronk quit the team because of same type of thing.

Both Brady and Billichek want to prove which one was responsible for the Super Bowl success.

You got 2 guys with ego’s and sometimes the team just isn’t big enough for both. That’s what happened with Jimmy Johnson and the Cowboys. So it happens and it’s real.

  86. stpetebucsfan Says:

    D1

Bingo!!! That is IT. He and Giselle are worth 650 million…another five or ten million extra represents nothing, he wants to go out on his terms not Belicheats and yes I agree D1 this has been building.

Brady did something rare in his last contract. One of the conditions that HE insisted on for taking a little less coin was true free agency with no fear of being tagged at the end of his deal. This has been building.

5 million more on his contract represents .0079%..LESS THAN 1%. Brady is not going to sign the last contract of his career based on money.

This is real simple and one of the reasons I’d love to get him. As D1 correctly suggests Brady will come to us with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove.

Wherever Brady goes it will be for ONE thing…TO WIN!!!!

  87. Dapostman Says:

We all know the Patriots will get rid of you a year early than a year too late.

This is typical Bucs buying high when clearly his better days are way behind him. Hell his first 8 games he was 8-0 and finished 4-5 counting a home loss in the playoffs. I’m Hoping for the best but preparing for the inevitable decline.

  88. Bucsdelight Says:

Rivers signed with Colts. Waiting on Dalton now.

  89. donuts Says:

Who? Hold on….Grammy is calling and she has her opinion too. #goofyOpinions from NFL players that were in the league less than 3 years.

  90. stpetebucsfan Says:

This guys NFL cup of coffee was so brief its no wonder I didn’t know who the hell he was.

Drafted in the sixth round by the mighty Brownies!

Started 2 games and played in 20 games in three years!!!

Meanwhile Legarette Blount was on the NFL Net today and while trying to respect JW made NO doubt who he believed the Bucs should get if they can. Blount said in unequivocal terms there is no doubt Brady will make the Bucs better instantly.

  91. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

D1 and StPete – agree with both completely – and thank you for the intellectual comments (which can be rare on here).
