ASJ Is Proud Of Penalty

If you want to know what is wrong with the Lovie Smith era, Joe has it all in one microscopic social media post.

It demonstrates that whatever Lovie is telling his players, it’s not sinking in.

Before Joe gets rolling, one of his favorites in the Bucs locker room is Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Joe loves the guy’s attitude (not to be confused with “tude.”). He is talented as hell and Joe is convinced he will be a stud player.

Yesterday, however, ASJ did a downright dumb thing. After scoring a touchdown, he put himself before his team and seemed to think that despite being in a tight battle with a division foe, it was more important for him to strut and use the football as a prop — and get his team flagged for a penalty.

It was stupid and helped set up the Dixie Chicks’ game-winning touchdown. OK, you could argue the defense should have stopped the Dixie Chicks, but ASJ sure as hell helped paint the defense in a corner with his stunt.

Despite ASJ being asked about the penalty after the game, and Lovie scolding him indirectly in his press conference, ASJ, full of pride about the penalty, took to Instagram to brag, replete with a photo of it, since deleted, but with this little message:

Everybody has a little captain in them. #ItsABucsLife

ASJ twitter

Right there is what is wrong with the Bucs. Lovie is the head coach. He is the teacher. Coaches are teachers. Lovie said yesterday he had explained to his players about celebration penalties. Either ASJ was in the trainer’s room at that moment or Lovie’s message isn’t getting through.

And apparently, that’s not the only thing not getting through to the Bucs; look at the way the Bucs defense has played; Lovie’s defense.

When Lovie made the move to Josh McCown last week, Joe thought it was a panic move in a desperate attempt to get a win or two, nevermind screwing with the “Quarterback of the Future’s” head and development. Lovie, it seemed, figured he better get a win soon or he was going to lose his team.

ASJ’s stunt and the play of the Bucs tells Joe that either Lovie has never had the team or has already lost it.

Hat tip @tbassfootball on the screengrab.

What do you expect? You knew this crap was gonna be par for course when the players were all giddy cuz Laid Back Lovie showed up his first day with flip flops on. But at least the players are respected, right?

  2. Patrick in VA Says:

Solid take Joe. His actions, along with others that have shown themselves this year, show you what kind of attitude and character this team has. It’s bad on both counts. Blowing 4th quarter leads is a character thing, it’s a pride thing. Getting selfish celebration penalties or penalties for going off on a player after the play, which we’ve done, is a character and a pride thing. We’ve got a bunch of mercenaries on the team that don’t care about the common goal

  3. BucsQcCity Says:

No fun league. We should be first in that league

  4. bob Says:

Talented or not, I would be all over this guy for this, and I believe, two other penalties in the game. The one discussed here shortened up the field considerably for the Falcons………inexcusable, and he’s proud of it??????? WHF! Fans calling Lovie! Hellooooooo!

  5. greg Says:

ASJ is either stupid or selfish…not sure which is worse.

  6. Patrick in VA Says:

@lightning – good point. I think we’re past the point where these guys get treated like professionals. If you don’t play like it then you don’t get that treatment. It’s like giving your kids privileges as they’re getting older. If they don’t behave in a way that shows that they deserve that treatment then they don’t get it. It’s time to get their toes back on the line

  7. RastaMon Says:

ASJ better take his craft seriously……the guy is soft !….

  8. Tom Edrington Says:

Hey Joe, ASJ is your guy….!!….

  9. Gooberville Says:

Not buying any of this hogwash. Joe you can certainly stretch a story and make up more stuff than a mystery writer.

  10. Buccfan37 Says:

The stupidest part of it all was the league making a big deal out of nothing. A penalty for that is just absurd. It’s not like he was taunting the other team.

  11. Dylan Says:

stop with coaches losing teams joe. You say it about every coach, raheem, greg, now lovie. Its time to think hmmm maybe “Rockstar” general manager mark dominik put together one of the worse bottom half rosters in the NFL and you can’t win close games with mediocre players. You think theres some formulated pixie dust that turns a franchise around? yeah he goes by the name of andrew luck and comes around once a decade and you gotta be lucky and win the lotto for first pick. I don’t think lovie lost the locker room or team. I think the roster is complete garbage besides a handful of players and even lovie and jason and the glazers probably all know it. rockstar GM always hit on his first couple picks if he is lucky but who has he ever drafted or signed that was good.. no body. lovie is patching together his garbage moves and its impossible for a team to do it. I see why lovie looks at you like a dumbasssss when you ask questions lmao! i heard his responses to you. your assumptions sometimes are so stupid. like asking a coach about the next season? seriously bro? he doesn’t even know if he is gonna be the coach next season

  12. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Lovie has lost the team, sorry but time for him to go this is abysmal season and is basically starting from the bottom, go get josh mcdaniel from NE to be the HC, see if rich mckay is available (Falcons going to blow that crap up) draft winston get some good OL through FA and start from the bottom which is where we are. This is terrible to watch and ruins every monday
2nd week in a row where lovie could have over ruled a dumb play call and didnt, plug your headphones in fool

  13. Joe Says:

You say it about every coach, raheem, greg, now lovie. Its time to think hmmm maybe “Rockstar” general manager mark dominik put together one of the worse bottom half rosters in the NFL and you can’t win close games with mediocre players.

Time to quit blaming Dominik. Eight of the starters on offense yesterday were acquired by Lovie. Nice try. Back to the blackboard.

  14. The Ether Says:

Wow, this is evidence that Lovie is NOT getting through to his players… smdh.

  15. lightningbuc Says:

Rules are rules. You can debate the NFL being “no fun”, but you have to abide by rules. I may think a 70 mph speed limit is absurd, but that doesn’t give me the right to go 90.

This team, and more specifically, its head coach, is a joke!

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Like ’em or not rules are rules…..obey or pay the price.

Forget the winning touchdown drive…..all they needed was a field goal to go ahead….and the penalty hurt us. Even if it hadn’t hurt us, we should never get flagged for an illegal celebration.
I’d fine him and send the money to charity!!!

  17. RealityCheck Says:

Dude went home after a loss and instagramed a picture of his penalty on probably the easiest most no talent required pitch and catch of the year. What a loser.

  18. gt40bear Says:

Might get mister man’s attention if he were to find a seat on the bench next week after running gassers at practice. Toes on the line never looked so good! Somebody needs to tell these players they aren’t good enough to act so primadonaish!

  19. Joe Says:

Rules are rules. You can debate the NFL being “no fun”, but you have to abide by rules. I may think a 70 mph speed limit is absurd, but that doesn’t give me the right to go 90.

    Bingo.

  20. buddhaboy Says:

loser. Imagine what he is gonna do when and if he scores against a good team in a real game.

  21. The Ether Says:

Licht needs to find a way to pry Marinelli from Dallas next year…. We need that Bulldog type of coach in the locker room!

Since Lovie’s still gonna be here in ’15, and he’s not getting through to these guys, he needs to clean house and hire some coaches that can straighten these kids out…

  22. Mike J Says:

”Time to quit blaming Dominik. Eight of the starters on offense yesterday were acquired by Lovie. Nice try. Back to the blackboard.” Yeah, because it was necessary as Dominik blew so many picks & signings.

  23. buddhaboy Says:

I want lovie Fired or have him quit, but i would be ok with Marinelli and Marc Trestman as coordinators. Lovie get out of the way.

Can we get our old special teams coach back too, from the chucky days.

  24. Patrick in VA Says:

@The Ether – Do we need a different coach or do we need players that hold each other accountable. Everyone saw him doing that and knew he was going to get a penalty. Why didn’t jackson, our captain, come over and get in his face? Why does it have to be the coaches? that just creates an “us vs. them” situation. Why didn’t McCoy come get in his face to let him know that his actions are effecting the whole team, including GMC’s defense.

  25. Skelly Says:

It was stupid, yes but I loved it…. Next time do it without the ball.

And for Pete’s sake….No defending “Rockstar” Joe. Sorry, his stamp of incompetence will be on this team for some time to come. We have Lavonte, Foster and McCoy to show for his tenure.

It’ll take years to fill the holes he left.

  26. Capt.Tim Says:

    Blah blah
Dominick destroyed this team with bad drafts.
Lovie is having to gut and rebuild

We’ve sucked for years , we suck now.
At least we are getting rebuilt, finally.

  27. snook Says:

You’re blaming the Falcons score on this? They ran the kick to the 35 yard line. Big deal. Wasn’t the difference. What’s 15 more yards for the Falcons against our D?

    Nothing.

  28. biff barker Says:

    Re: Lovie’s lost the team?

You can’t lose what you never had.

  29. Joe Says:

And for Pete’s sake….No defending “Rockstar” Joe. Sorry, his stamp of incompetence will be on this team for some time to come. We have Lavonte, Foster and McCoy to show for his tenure.

Once again, eight starters on offense yesterday Dominik had nothing to do with. Time for people to quit blaming Dominik and turn the page. This is like Obama still blaming Bush for the economy four years later.

  30. Joe Says:

You’re blaming the Falcons score on this? They ran the kick to the 35 yard line. Big deal. Wasn’t the difference. What’s 15 more yards for the Falcons against our D?

    Nothing.

Might want to tell that to Lovie. He thinks different.

And so do all reasoned folks. It wasn’t the cause but it sure as hell helped.

  31. tom in st augustine Says:

silver lining on what he did? we still have the #1 (or #2) draft pick. you have to look at the positive right?

  32. IstillbleedOrange Says:

I agree Buccfan37. Of all the issues going on in the NFL today, I can’t believe that crushing player enthusiasm and enjoyment tops their list of priorities. Does anyone remember the Washington Redskins and their “Fun Bunch”? After a touchdown, their receivers and tight ends would circle and do a jumping high five. The touchdown celebrations were as entertaining as the touchdowns themselves, so much in fact, that they were put in the famous NFL Films – “Football Follies”. Typical hypocritical behavior of the NFL to profit from their players behavior one minute, then sway to the winds of political correctness the next.
ASJ is a young, talented rookie, who played to the fan base. Honestly, even though it was a penalty, what Bucs fan wasn’t secretly delighted at the play on the Bucs pirate motif, with the homage to Capt. Morgan? He’ll not do that again, but he’s still going to be remembered for that little stunt.
In my opinion, the NFL has degraded its product with the changes it has implemented. It’s definitely not the same NFL that I remember growing up watching in the 70’s and 80’s. No Fun League indeed. Funny, I still miss the USFL, lol!

  33. Joe Says:

Someone help Joe out. Did Dominik draft ASJ? Is Dominik still with the team?

Man some people just love to hate, no matter how illogical it may be. Who should be the third guy on the cross next to Dominik and Winston?

  34. lightningbuc Says:

Who should be the third guy on the cross next to Dominik and Winston?

    ___________

Joe, that’s easy – your boy John Manziel!

  35. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Joe, isnt johnny football already on there? Im in for johnny football in a trade like the pack did with the falcons back in the day, draft an OL or stud DT and get johnny fball from cleveland and then if that wont play then i am all about famous jameis and get josh mcdaniels as the HC and blow it up

  36. Thunder Sack Says:

ASJ – Asshole move. You and your team lost. You got penalties and dropped a few. Not too much to be proud of there, Sir.

  37. 87ForJameisOrMariota Says:

Rules are rules, but it doesn’t mean some of them don’t suck balls.

I’ve yet to see a player get hurt from a horse collar tackle. Most just get right back up and line up for the next play with 15 yards tacked on. I think it’s the most bogus rule in the NFL.

Does the Lambeau leap get a flag? If not then why do teams get flagged for shyt this or heaven forbid…. swearing? I mean oh my GAWD…swearing?

  38. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Joe,
Take a look at this and defend Dominick’s drafts….

    2009 Freeman
    2010 McCoy, Price, Benn
    2011 Clayborn, Bowers
    2012 Barron, Martin , David
    2013 Revis, Banks

These are the first & second round picks…..later picks even worse…..

  39. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I know….Lovie got rid of Revis…..not Dominick’s fault…..but surely you aren’t serious that Dominick did a good job building a solid team with depth….

Now, I agree that the predecessor shouldn’t be blamed and L & L said this was a win now team….it doesn’t excuse our current situation at all….

  40. Buc Fan South Tampa Says:

Every child knows you cant use the ball as a prop. For Jenkins to say he didn’t know is laughable. That was selfish pure and simple. Just to get a picture for his twitter account. His coaches even came over to chew him out and he just looked into space. After everything that went into the game, him doing that really lost it for us. Just like his fumble in the Vikings game.
I wonder what Mankins is thinking right now. A selfish Tight End and a crybaby quarterback – what did Belichek do to me?

  41. 87ForJameisOrMariota Says:

Another NFL rule that I think is absolute BS. No challenge flags can be thrown after the 2 minute warning.

I can’t think of a more important time in a football game that you will need your challenge flag in case the refs screw it up. In crunch time. So they leave it up to the refs at the most crucial time in a ball game. That to me is another BS rule.

  42. Tamparob Says:

Why do people still want MCKay back? He was forcibly removed from the GM job in Atlanta for making poor choices (Petrino, extending Vick while punting on Schaub) and is about to get canned from his current gig too.

  43. Joe Says:

Why do people still want MCKay back? He was forcibly removed from the GM job in Atlanta for making poor choices (Petrino, extending Vick while punting on Schaub) and is about to get canned from his current gig too.

Logic and reason not to mention facts will get you nowhere on this site, sir.

  44. Joe Says:

Why do people still want MCKay back?

Sam Wyche drafted Sapp, Brooks and Lynch. Yet people fawn over McKay and Father Dungy for those guys.

Imagine if Dominik drafted Shedel Anthony or Jackarse Green as wide receivers? Or signed Hurt Emanuel? People would be walking around Tampa Bay without voices they would have hollered themselves mute.

  45. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Coaches should be able to challenge within 2 minutes if the refs don’t choose to review….just throw the flag before the play…..

Yesterday, they decided to review after the play started….(Lovie should have been able to challenge that)

Also, I think a non-interference call should be able to be challenged…..there are a limited number of challenges & teams should be able to use them as they choose….

  46. SSG Mike Says:

Although I think the rules against Celebrations is BullCrap, I think that Lovie has not got his team under control and disciplined enough to move forward. Just look at the number of penalties this season. That is discipline. If they were at least competitive and not committing 100 yards of penalties per game, actual average is 58.3 ypg 18th, but the truth is we’ve had a few games with over 80 yards of penalties against us. That is simply undisciplined football when you are not winning (at All). As I have said before, we need to get rid of the Tampa 2 along with Frazier and get an actual O/C. Sorry about Tedford but at this point we don’t know if he will ever come back. #letsgetittogetherbucs

  47. jb Says:

Does ANYONE believe in what Lovie’s doing? The players certainly don’t and the only fans that do, are the homers that refuse to to use logic when looking at their team.

Something has to change between now and the start of the 2015 training camp! THE GLAZERS SELLING THE TEAM WOULD BE THE ONE THING THAT WOULD CHANGE THE WAY THIS TEAM OPERATES!

  48. Cannon Fire Says:

If this team isn’t going to win, at least they can be entertaining. Screw the flags, live it up fellas!

  49. Patrick in VA Says:

@jb – welcome to the NOM

  50. Soggy Says:

We got our winning season by not going 0-16

  51. Ray Rice Says:

Hey JOE your meat pole MANDINGO FUKD up……..AGAIN!!

  52. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Wasn’t ASJ just doing his job….two weeks in a row……tanking for those of you who are hoping for a better draft pick

Sims did his part…..fumbled…..leaving it up to rookies and high-priced free agents to throw the games for you.

You should be celebrating with ASJ!!!!

  53. 87ForJameisOrMariota Says:

Lovie’s too soft on the players. Schiano was too hard on the players.

Perhaps it’s like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears they just need a head coach in the middle that’s just right. Like Gruden. He had a line of BS and most of the players knew it was BS, but it was his personality behind the BS that made players want to play for him. He did a very good job at playing a fine line between hard ass and friend.

I really do think personality of the coach is a very important trait. You do need someone in the middle that’s not too hard and not too soft. Of course they need to know X’s and O’s too.

  54. buccanAy Says:

Is this the same IDIOT that fumbled the game away the previous weekend? WTF….sorry but this dude don’t get it….ASJ has “problem child” written all over. Would MUCH MUCH rather have Tim Wright and our 4th round pick back, and have take someone else in the 2nd round. We gave a VERY promising young TE and a 4th round pick and spent a 2nd on this TURD. Just another HUGE net loss for the clueless regime known as freakin Lovie. Think about it. we could have Wright, a 4th round pick and a 2nd round pick for this JACKASS.

  55. 87ForJameisOrMariota Says:

TBBF…I was rooting for them to win yesterday actually.

I don’t know if I can say the same for this week yet.

  56. bucrightoff Says:

Lovie has no incentive to do well. He gets $20 million no matter what. I’m pretty sure he’s wholly indifferent about succeeding regardless of how it happens, and only wants to succeed “his way” in an effort to prove his intellectual superiority to everyone else. Players probably detest his smug arrogance as well.

  57. 87ForJameisOrMariota Says:

    Here here…I concur!

  58. Patrick in VA Says:

I’m going to the game this weekend. There’s a part of me that is on the fence about pulling for the team. Being that away team fan at the stadium is always unpleasant. Not sure that I’m onboard enough to endure it. Might just go incognito and rock some neutral clothes.

  59. Skyline Crew for Mariota or Winston Says:

    Should never be a penalty.

  60. buccanAy Says:

Hey “stillbleedorange”…my favorite as a young kid was Billy “White Shoes” Johnson doing his crazy-leg dance then faking throwin the ball into the stands. It’s obvious the game is a shell of itself, and is going downward exponentially in EVERY aspect, IMO….but for this wretched team to get a win, we have to play by the wretched rules.
In all honesty, I can see a time, in the not so distant future, when I totally give up on the NFL….the college game has become MUCH better than the NFL…they actually let em play, a lil bit, anyway.

  61. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Patrick In VA

    Please don’t go “incognito”…you might be confused as a racist….. & DC isn’t a good place for that….

Give Raheem a chest bump for us…..and…wear our colors….the Redskins appreciate losers…..

  62. MTM Says:

ASJ touchdown antics showed a lack of intelligence. If you have only 1 win and your team has consistently shot itself in the foot with penalties. Why add to it and possible help your opponent. Too many me first players on this team to succeed.

And yes Dominick’s piss poor FA signings and draft picks will be felt for years to come. How many years does it set a franchise back when your 1st round picks don’t pan out?

  63. Patrick in VA Says:

@TBBF – but, if I were confused for a racist wouldn’t I be embraced by the redskins? ba dum schhhh

I really don’t think that it’ll be a big deal, to be honest. If ever there were a non-threat coming in to FedEx, it’s the Bucs

It’s like the nerdy dude that hits on your wife. You kinda just smile and want to pat him on the head and send him on his way. That’s the Bucs playing another team this year.

  64. Architek Says:

I’m not saying Lovie will be fired but at some point the general audience (media and fans) should start questioning his job security.

Going off of results he’s failed on and off the field at a high rate and well below the previous regime.

  65. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    87ForJameisOrMariota

I know you were…..all you have to do is root for Raiders & Jags…..see, Jets won…..life is good as a Tampabaybucfan……
We don’t have to lose on purpose….and we don’t have to root against our team….other teams will take care of that for us…

  66. 87ForJameisOrMariota Says:

    Patrick in VA….HA ha ha!

Do you see now people? Do you see how bad it’s gotten for some of us fans?

Draft a QB in the first and the misery will go away. Could be temporary, but it might not be. We could hit a home run! FINALLY!

  67. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @buccanAy

Way too soon to write off ASJ……you may regret making that type of prediction this early on someone with that kind of upside….

As for letting Wright go…..I agree with that, we should have kept him…..you can always use good TE/WR especially if they are UDFA cheap!!!

  68. lightningbuc Says:

The Bucs aren’t good enough to lose on purpose.

  69. Robert 9 Says:

    i just LOL…….

Tim wright and a 4th…….and both the a$$ clowns we have starting because of that trade are front page a$$ clowns.

at least the miami game was good. 🙂

  70. Patrick in VA Says:

Maybe I should show up at the game in a ghostbusters outfit and try to get Keyser Soze into my proton pack. Just gotta make sure that no other Buc fans in the crowd don’t have the same idea. Don’t wanna cross the streams…

  71. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    87ForJameisOrMariota

Would you be OK with trading down a bit (especially if Marriota & Winston were gone)……picking up a 2nd rounder and drafting Cook or Petty to compete with Glennon for the starting job.
At least with that, we could fill another need…..and we have many of them.

I am OK with Winston or Marriota (prefer Marriota)….but don’t want to trade up to get them….

  72. Robert 9 Says:

every player on this team wants to be traded. they don’t give a flying f$%k!!!!!

thats just my opinion, but being traded is like winning the lottery around here. maybe ASJ wants out if he even can.

something is real smelly in the henhouse around here.

you know when you work for that lazy boss who thinks he knows everything, calmly belittling everyone and making $hit up to his superiors for the lack of performance. thats what i imagine it would be like working for lovie. 2 boss’ in my life like that and neither did i work for very long. one even referred to me as dr. because i challenged him a little too much.

  73. Skelly Says:

    Joe Says:
Once again, eight starters on offense yesterday Dominik had nothing to do with. Time for people to quit blaming Dominik and turn the page. This is like Obama still blaming Bush for the economy four years later.

…..funny, your actually making my point for me. Do we need all these new players on offense if we were stacked with talent and depth when the knew regime came in. You can’t fill holes with high priced acquisitions, retreads and rookies and expect to dominate. You have to build smartly over time. That is the price we are paying… Time.

  74. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Patrick in VA

Enjoy our 2nd victory and the killing of our top draft pick…..in this “meaningless” game.
I would like to see what our plan is for the “all-out” blitz……Marcus…..are you reading this???
Time for the tossup to the Dunkianeers…..we know they will be taller & 1on1….

  75. Patrick in VA Says:

@TBBF – No chance that this is one that we can assume is a win. This isn’t even the worst team we’ve played and we lost to those other teams. We’ve got a great chance of keeping those top draft pick dreams alive. Although, after looking at the Raiders’ schedule, it’s looking pretty tough for them even if they were a good team. I think #2 is the best we can hope for. But, if they don’t need a QB then #2 is all we need to get the player we want. Actually, we’d be able to get that same guy for a lesser paycheck that way

  76. Dylan Says:

@Joe back to the blackboard? what proof do you have that lovie lost the locker room? You have opinions just like everyone else but at least if you look at mark dominiks garbage drafts for his tenure he has what 2 good picks? mccoy (how do you mess that up) and lavonte david. Look at all the good teams. Packers, 49ers, broncos, seahawks, cowboys they all KNOW HOW TO DRAFT. L and L inherited a bag of sh*t and aren’t gonna turn it into a bucket of roses in one offseason. Its good to see the people they brought in are actually solid starters and show promise. Only time i said that about dominik was lavonte david which I’m sure greg schiano was just on board cause his boy bill bellichik was gushing over lavonte. Idc what coach you got you aren’t winning with this roster.

  77. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Patrick

    I don’t assume….just have a hunch….

    And, if we don’t get # 1….someone will trade up for it…..we can sit at # 2 & get a QB…..second choice…..perhaps…

  78. Dylan Says:

Now next year with 2 offseasons to tune up the roster to his players, then you start questioning the lockeroom. this is the same team that you wrote all these post about greg schiano losing the locker room. Carl nicks had staff infection, davit joseph was garbage, donald penn was over paid. so theres 3, they drafted ASJ and mike evans with there first two picks. they have how many combined TDs? there performing. dominik NEVER HITS ON PICKS OR SIGNINGS. thats why he is on ESPN and not in a front office joke cause he did BOMB this roster

  79. Patrick in VA Says:

@TBBF – Maybe their second choice. If a team trades up and snags Winston and we’re sitting there at #2 and Marriota was the guy they wanted all along then we lost nothing.

  80. bucs4lyfe Says:

that’s the kind of thing you do when your a winning football team and it doesn’t matter that you got a penalty because you got a W. ASJ is sorry….theres more to playing tight end than catching a football, he doesn’t block well, doesn’t know the snap count and is good for about 2-3 penalties a game…when he grows up maybe we’ll see the potential but as of now I think he’s so ignorant to think that the bucs wouldn’t draft another tight end just because he’s on the roster. all that talk in the offseason about wanting to be great and apparently he’s got captain morgan on his mind and too busy celebrating with his free time

  81. Bucsfanman Says:

@Joe- Man I don’t get it. We’re still blaming Dominik, really?! I’m with you on this one. It makes no sense.
Hey Austin, check the scoreboard next time. We’re 1-8! It’s not time to celebrate, it’s time to bring the lunch pale! Teams with less talent make us look pathetic because they work hard. Seriosly guys, go to freakin’ work!
ASJ made a stupid mistake for sure. Lets be frank however, does anyone still believe that the Bucs are a QB away from being good? If after watching that game, you can look me in the eyes and tell me that Jameis Winston would have been the difference then you are delusional.
How about some accountability from the players? This is on them. Where you at Bucs?! Man up!

  82. Bucsfanman Says:

@Dylan- Get over it dude! Dominik’s gone. Like Joe said 8 out of 11 on offense were hand picked by THIS GM and HC. If you’re still angry, maybe direct your anger toward poor player evaluation from THIS regime. You can’t keep blaming our woes on past leadership.

  83. Frank Pillow Says:

ASJ…as much as the league has taken fun out of the game, it’s your job to act like a professional. You’re certainly not playing like one. Instead you are a large part of 1-8. I doubt you posted your OT fumble so proudly. And that’s the problem with you and this team…from the top down it’s filled with excuse makers and check cashers. minus a small handful who still looks/sound/play like they have some pride, the coach and many others spend their days coming up with new and creative excuses for why this thing has come off of the rails so badly. Instead of owning it.

  84. buccanAy Says:

And to top it all off…..he aint no Brent Celek…not as a TE and dam sure not as “Capt Morgan”…Celek makes him look like a fool, and on top of everything….he’s bout 3 years late with Morgan. If stupid enough to cost your 1-7 team, a 15 yard penalty, and all you come up with is 5yr old Capt Morgan…that alone should be reason for sitting a Qtr.

  85. SteveK Says:

    Bucsfanman,

Dominick is gone, but our roster is still feeling the effects of his mismanagement… And tht is a fact.

Dominick is gone, but our O-Line is specifically suffering because he was too proud to spend a draft pick on a lineman. And, the double dipping in rounds 1-2 for: GMC + Price, Clayborn + Bowers= BAD PICKS. The only guy worth his salt is GMC, and I am not even sure he is worth all the money..

  86. Joe Says:

Dominick is gone, but our O-Line is specifically suffering because he was too proud to spend a draft pick on a lineman.

No, the offensive line is suffering because Lovie — dating back to his Chicago days — can’t judge offensive linemen. One guy Lovie got rid of hasn’t given up a sack for a rookie quarterback and two others are starting for playoff teams.

The offensive line is all on Lovie, but nice try Einstein.

  87. Zam Says:

I’d bench him for a game.

He lost that game for us, with his false-start penalty early and then giving them basically 15 free yards. If you look at drive-by-drive, those 2 mistakes made the difference. That one of them was intentional and then to be proud of it is down right sickening.

  88. snook Says:

Don’t care what Lovie thinks. He’s obviously got poor judgment. Penalty was meaningless.

  89. SteveK Says:

    Joe,

Ok, Einstein, why don’t you go open up a Bagel Shop with Dominick?

You are sadly mistaken if you think Dom’s mismanagement hasn’t aided to the detriment of our O-Line. Come on man!

I am not arguing that it is 100% Lovie’s sword to fall on, but that the roster STINKS on the O and D Lines because of our AWESOME FORMER ROCK STAR GM.

  90. Patrick in VA Says:

Zam – not a bad idea. To be honest, it’s not like he’s winning games for us and if he’s going to be a part of the team then he needs to get his mind right. It’s a bone headed, look at me move that needs to be corrected. He was talked to when it happened. He posts this after the game so the talking went in one ear and out the other. He needs to sit and think about it

  91. Skelly Says:

L&L came here and blew davin, zuttah and penn out. All three of those dudes are arguably better than their replacements. So I have to side with Joe on the O-line. You win the battle Joe, but lose the war. Dom, with best of intentions, really hurt this franchise. Ok I’m done.

  92. crazy Says:

Sit him. Play the guys that don’t kill the team with negative plays and penalties.

  93. Dewey Selmon Says:

Could u imagine ASJ and Jamesis onthe same team. The Thuganeers!! smh

  94. Patrick in VA Says:

    @dewey – I’d go with punkaneers

  95. sho-nuff Says:

“Sam Wyche drafted Sapp, Brooks and Lynch. Yet people fawn over McKay and Father Dungy for those guys.”

I have been saying this for years….People LOVE to act like Dungy was some sort of God…when in fact his own HUBRIS kept this team from winning at least 2 championships…remember David Shula and Clyde freaking Christensan…hard headed choices because “father Dungy” had full control..and IMO Dilfer was on his way out until he accepted Jebus and started attending Dungy’s church….I know I know Sho Nuff pointing out elephants in the room affects all your pious arrogance….

He didn’t win it all until he was told you have NO CONTROL over the offense period…go be the defensive coordinator you were born to be…he and his tree are beyond overrated as lead men….

  96. Jim Says:

Actually if I remember correctly I did a study a few years ago that showed that statistically Clyde Christianson was the best offensive coordinator in Bucs history averaging over 17 points per game. Seems odd, but it is true.

  97. tamparob Says:

I don’t want to pile on McKay, but I do remember his drafting of o-lineman wasn’t much better. Kenyatta Walker and Russ Hochstein drafted in the same year.. 2001. They cut Hochstein next year and kept Walker. Hochstein started for the SB winning Patriots and was a staple on their line for 5-6 years. Walker, while playing on the Bucs’ SB time, was more famous for his stupid penalites and listening to music in the locker room. Here’s who was still on the board when Walker was picked: Drew Brees, Reggie Wayne, Jeff Backus, Adam Archuleta, Kris Jenkins, Matt Light, and Steve Smith. Nuff said.

  98. tamparob Says:

oh yeah- and he signed Ryan Leaf that year too (2001)

  99. ItsaBucsLife Says:

This Nfl rule is wack, I thought the celebration was funny lol ASJ will learn from this and get better. The Season is over might as well have fun with it #GoBucs
