“He’s Mean”

Defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson tries to house his pick off a Vita Vea tip against the Vikings.
When national NFL reporters began twittering intel on NFL teams before Sunday’s 1 p.m. kickoffs, one tidbit Joe read was about the Bucs.
It seemed last week Bucs defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson had a come-to-Jesus moment with his defensive teammates and told them it was time for the defense to help the offense.
The defense had a strong game against the Vikings. It wasn’t the defense that puked on their feet. Similar with the loss to Cleveland and, to a lesser degree, they did OK in Week 1 at Cincinnati.
So already, it seems the addition of Robinson this offseason is paying off for the Bucs.
“Well, he’s a beast,” Bucs outside linebacker coach Larry Foote said yesterday. “I know it [doesn’t] get talked about [enough, but those] d-tackles [are] in there mixing it up.
“I know a couple weeks ago we had a fourth-and-one stop backed up. Just the leadership he’s bringing to this building, he’s an animal. He’s mean.”
Just what the doctor ordered. And Foote said Robinson is no fraud. He’s as mean as he looks. This man has a bark. And a bite.
“Sometimes, scary-looking dudes, they’re not that tough,” Foote said. But he’s scary-looking and he’s tough.
“I’m glad we got him. Just the leadership that he brings to this building helps out big time.”
This was a big issue for the Bucs last year with a quitting defense. Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager made a big effort to bring in nasty, arse-kicking guys.
With Robinson, it seems like Licht nailed it.

Kiddos to you Joe and your photographer! Great picture of the Vikings Aaron Jones trying to down the big man while at the same time hanging on for dear life! Good job!

We will see. That was against Kyler Murray and no Justin Jefferson for three quarters plus. Let’s hope the defense gives us something to cheer about this season.

Bucs defensive rankings:
Defense, yards: 6th
Defense, passing yards: 9th
Defense, rushing yards: 2nd
EXP points (basically an overall ranking): 5th
The defense has been good so far this year. If they keep it up, and offense gets anything out of the QB spot, they could still do some damage this year.

Was Robinson’s interception a Pick 6 ? I cannot convince myself that he was touched down . I could be wrong . I just don’t see it .

I missed it, I been shutting the games off early. Some calls against the Bucs recently seem bogus by the refs.

Yeah it was against Kyler Murray sans Justin Jefferson. Honestly I don’t care if it was against Mother Teresa and the Sisters of the Blind Bible College. I wanna see more Sunday.

Put him in at fullback and blast some holes for Tucker. Maybe then he’ll get the ball some?

That loss to the Browns is not looking as bad as it used to.

Heard him on #620 interview with Casey Phillips after the Vikings game. He is a charismatic speaker. I can rarely finish an interview like that but this guy keeps you interested. Casey did a great job getting him to open up too. Yes he has a big Ego but all in the good way. I hope he sticks around a long time.

Heard him being interviewed by Casey Philips on *620 wade after the Vikings game a few days ago. He is charismatic and fun to listen to. Casey did a great job bringing out his passions in life starting as a youth to present. Listened the whole time and couldn’t switch the channel very captivating storyteller. His early days were interesting. Captain material for sure and hope he sticks around a long time.
