Reuben Bain Displays Why Bucs Are Giddy About The Rookie
August 4th, 2026It was one play. One move. Maybe two moves, actually. In training camp. In drills.
But damn if it didn’t demonstrate to Joe why Bucs types are walking around One Buc Palace at attention over the Miami Mauler.
It was line drills. One-on-one. Not exactly fair for an offensive lineman, as he had no one on either side to help narrow the gap or get help.
Bain vs. Luke Goedeke. The two go at it often in practice, Bain at left outside linebacker/inside defensive line and Goedeke is the right tackle.
Goedeke is no slouch. If he could stay healthy, he may be a Pro Bowler. It’s why many, including Joe, believe the Bucs may have the best pair of starting tackles in the game.
Bain and Goedeke locked horns at the whistle. (Video below) It appeared Bain baited Goedeke outside. Goedeke took the bait. Maybe overreacted. Looked like Goedeke may have lunged. Then Bain, in a blink of an eye, darted to the inside, past the tackle, leaving Goedeke wondering what the license plate number was of the rig that blew past him. Imagine Bain against some scrub tackle?
That move had the entire Glazer Shed ooing and ahhing.
Joe was fully impressed. That was a damn good tackle Bain schooled. And for a big guy like Bain to be that damn quick, holy smokes.
Joe has a hunch this Bain is going to be a monster.

We have an o lineman named Bain also?
August 4th, 2026 at 10:29 pm
Ok! Bain has officially exited the Kenny Bell zone. He got there with a silent first day in pads.

Bucs have an Edge Rush and depth
Top Safety Duo
Best Tackle Tandem
If only we had Vita playing
And a CB that’s not bored or brittle

We went from The Grave Digger’s to Bored and Brittle.

I personally want to thank all 14 teams that passed on Bain Jr.!

With the addition of Bain, I have a feeling the Bucs Defense will help win a lot of games this season.
Go Bucs !!

I wasn’t completely sold on Bain when we drafted him since I didn’t bother watching his tape since I never thought he’d be available and the little I did see, I thought he might take a bit to develop. I wasn’t down on the pick at all, but wasn’t as excited as others.
But man, once I went back and started watching tape – I could see what people were excited about, and he looked way more pro-ready than I thought he’d be, in fact he looked like a quality day one starter with a lot of upside. On tape what jumps out is how smart he is, how he seems to just know everything that is happening and is in the right place a the right time, and rarely made bad plays. That means, at worst, he has a very high floor, but obviously he’s also got a very high ceiling as well.
It’s just a couple of days with the pads on, but it’s good to see in any case. Would much rather have guys standing out early as opposed to hearing about how they’re taking it slow.

That was a sick move by a rookie on a vet. Impressive.

Football outsiders rate Godeke as the #1 pass blocking tackle in the NFL based on last year’s stats.

Yeah Buddha that says a lot about Bain, doesn’t it? Like the article said, imagine Bain against a regular tackle?
August 5th, 2026 at 2:01 am
I can still see and hear him on draft night in an interview immediately offstage, “I’m the best in the country and I’m going to show everyone that.”
We all (wisely) assess every rookie with the takes-a-year-or-more performance conclusion.
Rueben is going to be one of those exceptions!
Prediction: Rueben polishes-off Burrows on 9/13.
Yeah, go Bucs!!

Crown Bain! Everyone get in line to kiss the ring! I don’t think I have ever seen a rookie as hyped up as Bain is being hyped. But seriously I hope he does well and is not reading about all the hype he is getting here and other places. It can’t be good for the psyche of a rookie who has yet to play a down in the NFL.

I saw another clip of Bain and Luke from earlier and Luke stonewalling Ruben.

As a Texas A&M Aggie fan, I can tell you when they played Miami, I could have sworn there were two or three players with last name Bain as he was everywhere!

“As a Texas A&M Aggie fan, I can tell you when they played Miami, I could have sworn there were two or three players with last name Bain as he was everywhere!”
Wasn’t that the game the offensive tackles was talking trash about Bain, then he served up a few sacks and blocked a FG in that game?
The trangression:
“I don’t think that he will be a threat that we have to worry about too much… we have great players, we’ve got a great offensive line, so we will be able to handle him,” Zuhn told reporters after the Miami-Texas A&M matchup got announced.
Bain post-game:
“Y’all some b——,” Bain began inside the locker room. “F— you Mike Elko, f— 60, f— everybody and f— Texas A&M.”
😂😂

Looked like Luke wasn’t trying that hard.

Positionally, I understand why Bain and Goedeke are paired together, but I’d prefer Bain get most of his reps against Wirfs.
If you have a young Edge with tremendous up-side and want hm to be the hands-down best Edge in the league, you put him up against the hands-down best tackle in the league.
Iron sharpens iron.

For what reason Luke is a stud and Bain will be playing on the left side so it makes since for him to take most his reps with Luke not only that but tristan is nursing an injury lol
