Zyon McCollum “Interception” Was Really A Rueben Bain Sack

Joe is advising fans to wave off reports of a Zyon McCollum interception at Day 1 of minicamp practice today.
Yes, McCollum caught the pass out at the right sideline thrown by Baker Mayfield, but in the real world, rookie Miami Mauler edge rusher Rueben Bain beat Luke Goedeke clean on the play off the left edge. Bain pulled up in front of Mayfield, who saw Bain and threw wide seemingly just for the sake of the arm exercise.
Congrats to McCollum on the good hands, but Joe’s handing the sack to Bain. Play dead.
Heck, an interception usually fires up the crowd at One Buc Palace, but the response to McCollum’s catch was subued. It was as if most fans saw the Bain rush and realized what happened next was just a no-pads-no-hitting practice kind of moment.
For those wondering, yes, Bain “looked good” today.

I don’t think most fans have any faith in McColumn. I know I don’t. He was awful last year. He is not a starting cb in my opinion

I have a fair amount of faith in McCollum still. I don’t think he necessarily slacked off because he got his check. I think the check just kind of made him kind of flip our a little bit.

A whole article to explain why it was worthless, but indirectly making the QB look bad for still throwing an INT on a rep where coaches likely said “let him rep it”

Boweles was a CB, it amazes me how he can’t seem to keep a good veteran CB nor can he instantly pick up a guy who can perform. Why didn’t they address this after the draft, picking up someone who’s proven.
