Todd Bowles Still Looking For A Corner

July 29th, 2026

The hunt for a corner.

UPDATED: You may have heard Benjamin Morrison is dealing with a tender hamstring. Why does Joe have the feeling he will be typing about that several times over the next five months?

So already the cornerback position is thin for the Bucs. In the offseason, Bowles had said he wanted to add two corners. The Bucs added one, a nickel, Keionte Scott in Round 4 of the draft, plus two little-known veterans before the draft.

With Morrison down for who knows how long, Bowles has resumed speaking of his desire to add another corner.

“We worked some guys out,” Bowles said. “And we are still in the process of filtering that out.

“But hopefully we have somebody in here.”

Late July is not the ideal time to hunt for a cornerback, or any player. Nearly anyone worth his salt is in some team’s training camp this time of the year.

It may behoove the Bucs to wait a couple of weeks to when teams start whittling their rosters down. There is always a nice player who finds himself unemployed just before the regular season.

Does ownership and Licht know this? Why wait this late after losing your starting CB in FA? Smh…Campbell just sealed a CB I believe. The Bucs need all the help they can get.

  2. SB~LV šŸˆ Says:

    Hopefully to stand on…

  3. Marine Buc Says:

Now you want to find a starting CB?

    You MORONS?

Seriously folks – what in the heck is going on with this completely difunctional franchise?

Was our ā€œROHā€ GMs entire plan based on Ben-Mo and Kancey staying healthy?

If so – please load him into the cannon and fire his goofy arse back to New England.

I’ve said it once and I will do it once again…

    Terrion Arnold.

Yes – he is a kidnapper with multiple felonies…

However – our GM and HC is guilty of kidnapping my happiness and Ben-Mo guilty of grand larceny and is stealing money from the Glazers…

So who cares at this point?

You are all felonious crooks IMO!!!!

    Pathetic.

  4. Smoke Porterhouse Says:

Great, Bowles drafted his friend’s son and he got hurt celebrating at his draft party. Just do what Bowles has been doing the last few years, have the CB’s 10 to 15 yards off the LOS. No QB will figure it out (besides Cousins, Ewers, all 2nd stringers and most 3rd stringers).

  5. Football 1 Says:

This is fruition coming to the front. The Bucs have needed to add another cb since free agency. They wait til now. I don’t think anyone outside of Licht and Bowles ever thought Morrison would get much time on the field before an injury. McColumn proved he was no starter last year. I have been scratching my head on this all off season. I don’t get this one. I would sure like to hear Bowles and Licht explain this one. Bizarre is the only way to describe it. They don’t see the Forrest for the trees?, denial about how bad the cb position is?. Well maybe they now see what we have been saying about the cb position.

  6. Will Says:

    This does not surprise me.

  7. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Shouldn’t we be calling Morrison our most talented corner? I mean, that’s how we talk about the one that just left. Seems he couldn’t stay on the field either, but everyone misses him.

  8. HeartyDickerson Says:

So in day one, Wirfs, Morrison and Vea get injured. It’s just comical at this point.

  9. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Just go get Adoree Jackson and be done with it

  10. Jarrett Says:

So Jason Light won’t trade picks for proven stars like Max Crosby

But he’ll continually waste 2nd and 3rd round picks on unproven guys coming out of college. According to Jason, why win superbowls when he simply enjoys the Draft process and Draft night and making picks.

This guy lives to make picks!!! ā€œYO JASON TRADE THE PICKā€ … NO

And now Jason Light is a cheapskate GM?

The pick of Chris Braswell and Benjamin Morrison should have been flipped for a proven starter worth a damn

This defense has been soft asf ever since Devin White and Carlton Davis walked out that door

  11. Whatevs Says:

Another Licht Loser. Still wondering why Licht get so much love for his drafts. This dude was injury prone throughout college, multiple surgeries, and now another wasted second round pick.

How many does this make? Sooooo many busted 1st and 2nd round picks

  12. Jarrett Says:

    Man at this point

    I agree with Marine Buc

THIS TEAM FOUNDATION IS BUILT ON CHURCH CHOIR BOYS

WHERE IS THE SWAG, WHERE ARE THE TOUGH GUYS

    GO GET TERRION ARNOLD
    GO GET STEPHON DIGGS

IM SO TIRED OF BOWLES SAYING

ā€œI like the guys we gotā€

ā€œOur young guys need the repsā€

GO GET SOME DAMN ATTITUDE, GO GET SOME EXCITING PLAYERS

GO GET SOMEBODY WORTH BEING EXCITED ABOUT

GO GET SOMEBODY WITH SOME RED FLAGS AND NOT INJURY HISTORY!!

ONLY TIME BUCS MAKE A HEADLINE RIGHT NOW IS FOR BEING CHEAPSKATES

  13. SummerofGeorge Says:

This just speaks to the current state of the franchise.

A rudderless ship lost at sea with no ability to course correct.

The top players are leaving or rejecting the direction set in front of them.

It has been building since the 2024 playoff loss to Washington.

Last season was the breaking point. Licht and Bowles are a package deal.

They broke it, they bought it.

  14. BucsFanNJ Says:

    Vita and Mayfield in limbo.
    Morrison hurt.

    It’s a Bucs life.

  15. MelvinJunior Says:

If this season ends up being a complete and total disaster, AND we continue to get just more of the SAME from Morrison, then Lickt has GOT TO GO right alongside of Todd Bowles. Cause, EVEN a ā€˜blind person’ could see THIS coming from MILES AWAY. And, you STILL decide to BURN an extremely valuable 2nd-Round PICK (while missing-out on BIG BAD Deone Freaking WALKER in the same draft). It’s totally UNFORGIVABLE. Especially, when there are AT LEAST a ā€˜half-dozen’ other, just MIND-BOGGLING BADDDDD moves, over the past two off-seasons. And, not even including HIS ā€˜all-time’ record (over then, for 14-SEASONS), and after having ZERO ā€œPro-Bowlersā€ DRAFTED over the past 6-YEARS. I mean, that has to be a WRAP by then.

  16. East_coast_bucs Says:

has there been any good news this off season? I can’t remember a worse off season.

    Ooph

  17. 813bucboi Says:

    agree with WBL & Marine

bucs need to grab BOTH Adoree Jackson AND T. Arnold to elevate the CB group

    GO BUCS!!!!

  18. #1bucsfan Says:

My 1st reaction is like most of yours. WTH is going on but as fans we have no clue what’s going on behind closed doors for the most part I trust licht

  19. MadMax Says:

Better get Big V EXTENDED and happy, ASAP!

  20. 941bucsfan Says:

Bucs fans are hilarious.. yea lets go get all these players that other teams kicked to curb, and are STILL free agents in Late Late July. I know B MO is hurt, but If the bucs were to cut him today, he would be claimed much faster than any of these other players you guys are naming.

  21. 813bucboi Says:

some fans are just as delusional as licht lol…yeah lets sit back and put all our eggs in the B-MO basket lol….he sure proved he can be a quality starter in the NFL…LMAO!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  22. jw94 Says:

If Todd and Jason survive another losing season. I’m going to crash out…

  23. Bucscoott Says:

Why does this team have so many hamstring problems every year? Can you say dumpster šŸ”„

  24. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Bucs fans are hilarious.. yea lets go get all these players that other teams kicked to curb, and are STILL free agents in Late Late July”

Weird take, we signed Fournette in September of 2020 and AB in October of 2020, both kicked to the curb & both did more winning in that year then either teams that offloaded them.

Happens every year, for every team, all around the league. 90 men in camp, teams are always looking for talent

  25. Beeej Says:

Morrison had a history of HIP troubles (corrected by surgery) AFAIK, he had no history of hammy issues

  26. Thomas Edrington Says:

After the season, Bowles will be looking for: A corner to hide in.

    _______________________________

To be fair… I’m thinking Vea’s pocket and feelings were more hurt than his back today. It’s an excuse to “hold in.”

  28. budlikedthebucarros Says:

there seems to be something very wrong with this football team owners gm hc/dc? Bowles seems like a likable guy but not all there Brady effect is gone like the wind

  29. Biscuit Says:

    T. Diggs anyone? At least he gets INTs which we’ve been missing plus he has size which sadly Parrish and Scott do not have. Maybe not as a full time starter but the WRs that possibly would be to physical for Parrish and Scott he could at least handle? Though he hasn’t been the same for a few seasons he’d be someone I’d at least take a flier on.

  30. ATLBuc Says:

These veteran free agents do not want to go to training camp.

  31. Adam's Angry Says:

    Fire the ENTIRE TRAINING STAFF.

Don’t these jack-balls have a leg curl machine? Good lord. My grandmother’s linguine has a higher tensile strength that the hamstrings on the Bucs.

  32. Marine Buc Says:

This guy lives to make picks!!! ā€œYO JASON TRADE THE PICKā€ ”

    I agree.

    Look at the Rams.

    It’s worked well for them.

    Only problem is:

Draft picks are cheap labor and when you are constantly financially underwater because of prior poor FREE AGENT decisions – you need that cheap labor in order to continue the facade of having a “competitive” franchise.

While making false and hollow promises to the fan base in order to continue selling tickets and cheap china made merch…

  33. BucsFan81 Says:

Why does this team seem like a mess again this season. No depth on this team. Multiple players in contract situation. A coach that should not have been kept to begin with. Evans leaving for the 49ers and David retiring. Just seems like this season is going to be brutal from the start.

  34. Marine Buc Says:

    @ BuccoMarty

“I’m thinking Vea’s pocket and feelings were more hurt than his back today. ”

I heard Vita sat on his wallet and it threw his lower back out..

    Poor wittle guy.

I hope he is still able to eat after this season.

    LOL!

  35. Smoke Porterhouse Says:

Morrison, the modern day Myron Lewis! Bowles, the modern day Lovie Smith!

  36. 80sBucsfan Says:

The team is in disarray and it is 100% on Jason Licht. Without Brady,, he just isn’t a very good GM. What a mess. No more Jason Licht…PLEASE!

  37. Grover Says:

    3-14

  38. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Thomas E.

“After the season, Bowles will be looking for: A corner to hide in.”

    Oh snap…

Thomas coming in with the double entendre joke.

    I like it.

  39. Grover Says:

Plesae get a gag for Bozo. Every time he taps it gets worse.

  40. Fanofdabucs Says:

    Adore Jackson?

I just rewatched the Eagles vs 49ers playoff game from last year. The one thing that stood out, was how San Fran were picking in Jackson ALL game with the likes of DeMarcus Robinson and Jennings.

Ummm no thanks on the washed up Jackson.

  41. Grover Says:

Bowleszo should look for some Spunk. Just watch todays press conference. That guy is just a STIFF! Uninspiring. Just depressing. This will be the season of Grover I told yas so’s. Sorry Mr Mod.

  42. 813bucboi Says:

you’re crazy if you think B-MO can play better than Adoree Jackson lol…you’re judging him off on 1 game lol

Jackson had 55 total tackles (40 solo), one interception, and 11 passes defended…kid aint washed but he isnt a #1 CB anymore

at the very least he’d be quality depth…at the moment, B-MO isnt even quality depth…he’s a special teams player at best

why wait until week4 to realize we need quality CB depth….you know that now

    GO BUCS!!!!

  43. Marine Buc Says:

    @ 813

    I agree.

Bring in both Jackson and Arnold and see which one can stay out of jail long enough to give us the best chance of winning 7 games.

    Maybe 6…

  44. Alldaway Says:

Bucs have been very timid this off season to address their primary problems. CB injuries have wrecked seasons under Arians and Bowles.

This isn’t rocket science go sign a veteran CB or 2 and let them compete with the young guys.

  45. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“The one thing that stood out, was how San Fran were picking in Jackson ALL game with the likes of DeMarcus Robinson and Jennings.”

Literally the best CB available on the street right now, and we don’t need him to start we need him to be a contingency plan.

Kind of obvious Jackson was aged out for DeJean & Mitchell who are cheaper AND younger.

4 of 4 for 48 yards and no scores that’s the “picking on” you just referenced btw, not exactly getting his boots smoked

  46. Steven007 Says:

” kidnapping my happiness”… Good one Marine. Also, looks like we just signed a safety with some experience. Interesting..

  47. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    What a bunch of whiners.

  48. RagingBrisket Says:

The Licht in the Front Office is very dim

  49. Bucsalltheway Says:

Watching rasul Douglas go to the commanders was stupid teams who know they are thin and could possibly compete are aggressive to fill the void but not this club we wait until we are down to the waterboy to make a move only thing that sucks about being a diehard bucs fan.

  50. buc4evr Says:

We have been screaming for two veteran corners for the last year. Now the stupid Bucs are just figuring this out. Morrison was drafted after surgery and he was out for some time. Why would any GM draft a guy with chronic injuries? I guess Jason always try’s to get a sleeper in the draft. This time it didn’t work and the Bucs will pay this year due to the poor secondary play. Another reason that both Todd and Jason need to be fired after this season.

  51. Bee Says:

Bucs just signed safety Melifanwu. Used to be with the Dolphins. The calvary has arrived!

  52. Oxycondomns Says:

glazers orders keep costs at a minimum, thats why bowles is still coach

  53. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    @Bee

I’m more familiar with his older brother Obi, but Ifeatu is a big mf’er for a safety

  54. Lefty Says:

Put Todd on the PUP list and let’s move on..

SoGS, I can’t agree more! From my perspective, that’s what I see too. It’s the GM’s place to make it all good. So far JL has only corrected about 50% of the team needs. Of course maybe he is steering the ship into the rocks for better draft picks and another reset. I hope not, but time will tell.

  56. 813bucboi Says:

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  57. Will Powers Says:

    B-mo;
    – would be on the field…if he wasn’t injured
    – would’ve been the starter last year…if he wasn’t injured
    – would’ve been a 1st rounder…if he wasn’t injured
    – would’ve been drafted later…if the folks at 1Buc didn’t know his dad

He’s a bust until he shows he isn’t. The best that “would’ve been-mo”.

JL, instead of doing Dad’s a solid (see Warner, Sanders, etc…FTI haterz, I’m aware of UDFA vs picks) let’s focus on doing the fans a solid and go after the best…. jus’ sayin’

  58. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Will P

    I don’t get it either…

It worries me that our HC has a personal connection with this player and his father.

If this was our HC’s request and our GM went along with it – bad optics to say the least.

  59. ModHairKen Says:

Terrion Arnold would be a steal

  60. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

The Bucs just signed…..a Safety, Ifeatu Melifonwu

  61. Jake Been there since the beginning Says:

Wow we are slipping on all fronts in the office early. Morrison did this in the little camp they had, and should have done something before now. Someone could have had a little time to get in the playbook and all. Come on man.

  62. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Jake

    “Come on man.”

In regards to the current situation – wiser words have never been spoken.

Come on man! – Indeed my friend.

  63. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Scotty in Fat

“The Bucs just signed…..a Safety, Ifeatu Melifonwu”

    Cool.

    I just farted.

It smells like beef and cool ranch dressing………..

  64. Smoke Porterhouse Says:

I heard something about Bain in coverage…Bowles drafted him to be a CB, I see. šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„

  65. Jake Been there since the beginning Says:

I forgot about the UDFA I read about and hope he’s doing what he started in the past camp.

  66. Will Powers Says:

    @ Marine Buc,

Agreed…really worked out for Gruden (post Super Bowl and in Vegas)

Thanks for your service (I wore green)

  67. Mike Johnson Says:

LMAO. He might be looking for a DT too.

  68. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Will

    Cool.

As does one of my sons…

  69. DailyRich Says:

I wouldn’t get too worked up about Wirfs’ hamstring. They’re not gonna push him with even a minor tweak.

  70. Max Vasher Says:

Marine Buc in prime form today! Bravo, sir!

  71. Obvious One Says:

    @Smoke Porterhouse

I almost wrote about that but I suppose I’m tired of writing books as to why there is a real problem around One Buc Place.

Can you imagine how Bain felt when he was drafted by us to a coach that sees the Defensive End as usless..

People can say what they want about “draft position” as the reason why he yanked that hat and kept walking. I’ve got a different theory….

  72. Ben Says:

JL never does enough to address CB. Just drafting players isnt enough. You need both FAs and draft players. Drafting guys works when it hits but its all a ? Until they see them in game action. Need that balance.

  73. Kidfloflo Says:

Vita wants a trade, so instead of hoping for a high draft pick, swap his aging ass for a pro bowl corner!!
