“I Love Coach Bowles”

March 10th, 2024

Baker Mayfield shares his Bucs love with Adam Schefter after agreeing to a new contract today.

All kinds of good vibes are flowing after Baker Mayfield broke the bank today (but not too hard) becoming the Bucs’ quarterback for this season and mostly likely at least through 2025.

Per NFL super insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, Mayfield is so happy to be home.

“I wanted a chance to come back,” Mayfield said via Schefter on X. “I love Coach Bowles and the staff. I’m happy to be here and I want to win more in the postseason.”

With all that cash Mayfield locked down, Joe sure hopes he spreads his love from Coach Bowles to Team Glazer and Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht.

Go Baker! Go Bowles. Go Bucs!!
    (Triple B)

  2. MadMax Says:

    Baker, you’re welcome

  3. Cobraboy Says:

    Glorious continuity…

  4. sweti_yeti Says:

I like the “win more in the postseason” comment. Thrilled to have Baker back. He was clearly our best option, especially with his connection with M1K3 and Wirfs. Now just bolster the interior OL and get another RB to take some heat off Rachaad, and our offense should be rolling pretty well.

  5. Murph Says:

Coach Bowles haters will try to spin Baker’s positive words in a negative way. That’s what haters do.

  6. MadMax Says:

I love this…just too dmn much…oh my gosh just too much..

Welcome back brother…now get in better shape, learn a lot more and be a lot sharper….we’re counting on you!

  7. Dave Pear Says:

Murph – no one hates Bowels. Many of us simply don’t think he’s very good at his job. But maybe Baker can help him with the slow start thing and bring some energy to the team that Bowels offsets by his endothermic nature.

  8. Bakers Gut Says:

And so it begins, the signing of Baker will turn out to be a horrible decision and he flops this year and Bucs post a losing record and end the season in last place behind the Saints.

  9. Buccaneric Says:

    Welcome back!

  10. DungyDance Says:

    Tip toe…egg shells…squelch squelch?

    Yay.

  11. All_da_way Says:

Time to move onto resigning the rest of the Bucs FA and see if they can find upgrades at center and safety.

  12. Allbuccedup Says:

In Licht I don’t trust. This team can not or have the patience to develop a young QB, you reap what you sow. A crappy coach and a journeyman rich QB we will be at home for the playoffs this year.

  13. SenileSenior Says:

    Go Bucs! We

  14. SenileSenior Says:

Go Bucs! Bake the NFC South!

  15. Boss Says:

Wish bake well but the money been better spent on OL and edge. What team in their right minds spend their top coin on 2 wrs and qb when they are built and call a run 1st game?

This is not trickery….simply bad decisions …..over and over….and the fans lap up the mediocrity and the glazers rake in the cash.

    Almost seems designed lol.

Sure ain’t designed to win a SB or dynasty

    ———-

The Bucs didn’t develop Tom Brady, and they reaped a Super Bowl out of it.

I’m no Baker Boi, but just saying, that’s not a good or valid point. The Bucs have literally never ‘developed’ a QB in their history, and they have twice as many SB wins as the rest of the NFC South combined.

  17. Brad Says:

    LFG!!!! BUCS

Hope to see new I Durante commercials featuring the Pirate ship at RayJ, those old ones in Cleveland were funny.

ME13 should be really happy today as all of us Baker /Bucs fans are.
    Can’t wait to watch year 2 progression of BM6, ME13 & CG14.

Today like everyday is good to be a Bucs fan.
    NFC South Champions once again.

  18. Rpelog Says:

Now that Baker knows a team has committed to him, unlike with past teams like Browns, something tells me he’s gonna be “feeling dangerous” now. That’s when he plays his best.

  19. Dan the Bucs fan Says:

Love it! We got the guys we needed back. Now address some holes in the draft! We will back in playoffs this year!

  20. Jason Says:

And the Cult of Kyle shed a tear that day.

  21. Allbuccedup Says:

Rod Munch I would like to have a team that could compete for a superbowl every year not just one every 20 years but thats just me doesn’t really mean anything but this is what the bucs life fans are familiar with!!!!!!=

  22. TBfan Says:

    Happy day in Tampa!!

  23. Koala Says:

LMFAO @Boss. This team is built to run first? Sure you’re on the right blog?

  24. Buccaneer rick Says:

Now go get a center in fa grab a edge rusher in 1rd and bring back whitehead and bring more power on dl give vea a break maybe smb3 too

  25. BucaneroJim Says:

    @ Koala

Yes, the Bucs are built to run first – on first downs, that is.

  26. Jack Clark Says:

Todd Bowles saved Baker Mayfield’s career and developed a head coach in Dave Canales. Put some respect on his name

  27. DJB Says:

Look at Baker towering over Schefter in that pic hahaha. . .

  28. Truth Teller Says:

It’s about to be a long 3 years

  29. Daniel Dream Says:

    Let’s f’n go Bucs!!! ⚔️

  30. Toad Bowels Says:

“If the Super Bowl is really the ultimate game, why do they play it again next year?”

    Duane Thomas

  31. Big Red Says:

I hope this doesn’t age well, but my prediction is that in 2-3- years Baker, Bowles, and Licht will all be looking for a new home.

I hope I’m wrong and we win a chip or two, but it’s insane to give Baker more money than Levonte David. Regardless of the position. Way overpaid for avg to above avg QB at best.

Might as well have brought in Russell Wilson for this price or Aaron Rodgers lol.

It’s about to be a long 3 years

    ——-

I’m not Baker Boi, but hopefully it’s a 3-year deal, since that means Baker has earned his keep, and the Bucs are winning.

If Baker stinks, it’s a 1-year deal, and they’ll eat that $20m cap hit since they’d be firing everyone and rebuilding the team anyways.

I’m not a fan of Baker, but as a fan of the Bucs, I hope he’s good and that contract looks like a bargain. We can hope.

  33. Bucs'n'Bucks Says:

Write down today’s date for Allbuccedup and Bakers Gut. Come next January when we’re in the playoffs, I don’t want to hear these two bragging about what loyal Bucs fans they are. Go find another site for all your negative posts!
Go Bucs and welcome back Baker and Mike!!

  34. Larrd Says:

The naysayers lost the poll 9-1, lol.

  35. Oneilbuc Says:

NFC championship or bust no excuses!!

  36. Aaron Says:

What a slap in the face lol

  37. Usfbucs Says:

Now we just need to re-sign LD, the kicker, get a real contract done for AWJ and Wirfs, then get our d and o lines right. Sign another veteran safety to play with AWJ

  38. brooks Says:

    Agree big red.
Jets signed Roger’s how did that go?
Ridiculous 100 million after one good year.

  39. Doc Says:

Mayfield, laughing all the way to the bank (Suckers) I make more money then Evans, who has been here ten years and I have been here ten months.

  40. Captain Dan Lawrence Says:

Let’s go BUCS!!!! Let’s go Shake & Bake!

  41. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I think that’s a fair contract all around and I’m excited that Baker is staying here. We’ll be better next year than we were this year. Licht is one of the top 5 GMs. We need a good draft and I believe Jason and crew will deliver.

  42. JD Still Says:

Such irrational exuberance! Well, enjoy it while it lasts, sooner or later reality will set in, so, tell me, what exactly did we get for fifty million dollars guaranteed money? A guaranteed Superbowl? No? A guaranteed Conference Championship ? No? A Division Championship perhaps? No? A winning Record? No! Did we even get the Guarantee of a single lousy win? NO! That must have been a heck of a negotiation! But what kind of guarantee could you expect from a mediocre , journeyman quarterback ,on his fourth team, with a sub .500 win-loss record , and all for only a measly 50 million guaranteed dollars.

  43. brooks Says:

    Amen JD Amen.
Next year we’ll need money for a coach and GM

  44. MadMax Says:

These little girls on their periods, so emotional (the Baker haters)

Thats where it begins…shut them the F up Baker!

  45. Salary Cap Hell Says:

Upgrade the center, and get some smash mouth running backs…

  46. brooks Says:

Not a hater just reality not my first rodeo especially with history of a player…..

  47. Buc4evr Says:

Just hope the Bucs do something positive about the O line or Baker’s signing won’t make much difference. Edge rusher is also important.

  48. mark2001 Says:

Fair deal. The offense back intact. A big step in the right direction.

  49. RGA Says:

Looks like it’s Mayfield for at least another year. he needs to be more consistent. He needs to perform like he did at Green Bay, not a dud like he produced against the lowly Panthers. No more 40 yard first half passing stats.

  50. Beeej Says:

  52. Mike S Says:

Hate to rain on the parade, but that basically end FA signing period.

    There’s no more money.

They need to restructure deals to get the rookie class signed.

This deal torpedoed the 2024 season.

We’ll hear again “But it’s not Baker’s fault” all season long.

Yes it will be his fault – and it will be your fault too for demanding this nonsense.

  53. BillyBucco Says:

    That guarantee is legit.
Love that they ate looking for trades for Dean or Davis.
Now upgrade the trenches and pick a CB in round 1 if one gets traded.
If we add Stephon Gilmore for one year we could get away with WR in round 1

  54. Montana Says:

He is just buttering his coach up so that he will start after Trask out performs him in training camp again.

  57. Buccos Says:

It’s awesome that we have established a winning culture in Tampa sports in general. It’s an awesome place to live and the organizations are well run and compete for championships. Good job Licht, Bowles and Glazers. I could do without the male cheerleaders though

  58. It's Corn Says:

  59. Capt.Tim Says:

Waiting to see more details of contract. Always takes a few days.
    But really dont care.
We have our elite QB back.

    Thats ELITE, BAY-BE!

We get a pass rush, get a new Center and Guard, add a good Safety,
And We’ll be watching the NFC champ Buccaneers in the playoffs for at least 3 years to come!

ELITE, FRANCHISE, PRO BOWL QUARTERBACK IS BACK BABY!!!
Buc fans are going CRAZY on social media!
Well, except for here of course!

I aint crying for the glazers pockets so for the price – well paid and well played.

Welcome to Baker’s Bucs – Headquarters of the Baker Bois.

Yall gonna remember the Brady Bowl fondly, the Baker Bowl(s) will put us back on the national stage. Baker Boi all froggin day. I’ll be the dude rocking the white #6 Mayfield jersey around S. Tampa on the morrow in solidarity for our franchise QB of the (near) future.

  66. Tony Marks Says:

    Montana Says:
He is just buttering his coach up so that he will start after Trask out performs him in training camp again.

Hate to break it to you

but there will be no qb competition this year in training camp so there will be no head to head comparison and baker will get the lions share of reps with the starters.

  67. Mike S Says:

I’d love Bowles too if he screwed his draft pick for me.

  68. Conner50 Says:

With the 26th overall pick in the draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Jackson Powers Johnson

Buc fans are going CRAZY on social media!

    You are not lying

I went to one site where if you said you were a baker fan in 2022 you got laughed at and called all kinds of names. Now all you can find is praise and congrats.

It been a long road for those of us who were fans too and This is satisfying even beyond Football. Never seen Karma visit so fast than it did to the Browns.

  70. Noclu4u Says:

Great job by Bucs paying him accordingly. Still have the money to go after a pass rusher . If they can get a 12-14 sack guy in F.A. and draft Jackson Powers Johnson or Graham Barton lookout . Bucs could be a very good team. if they get a running game they could be a problem for any team .
    As always Go BUCS !!

  71. Hopein1hand… Says:

I’m thrilled this done and with wonderfully appropriate numbers. Now go get Cam Akers for peanuts tomorrow. He has thrived in the league but only when Coen was working him in to the Rams offense. He’d be $3 mil tops, probably less. If he is smart he will follow Coen and their familiarity for cheap where the #1 RB status is shakey. Sell him on Baker’s outcome… It makes too much sense. He is a bit ABish but this locker room is strong. He is the best value out there and the Bucs can’t afford a single FA power move.

  72. MadMax Says:

And…..def Jackson powers….I love you Cooper Dejean but wont last long enough…..unless the football Gods smile upon us. No hate to Hainsey, hes doing what he can, but i think he would be better at LG which is a hole we need to fill.

  73. RGA Says:

Capt Tim, what are you smoking? There is nobody in the know that would suggest that Mayfield is Elite. Average at best is what this franchise has signed up for. He needs substantial improvement in his game, he’s seriously inconsistent.

  74. Buccos Says:

Now LVD, McLaughlin and JORDAN WHITEHEAD

  75. Hopein1hand… Says:

Yes, Buccos, Whitehead. If not SMB or even Edwards. Any are an upgrade over that dude I never bothered to remember his name from Seattle, the sun for the legion of poo- anyway, the Bucs have a strong culture. Bringing back an OG in the secondary for cheap should pay out. Whitehead had a sick week one last year. One that would make his cousin jealous. Then he figured out how to be a NY Jet.

  76. MadMax Says:

Im proud of this one, yep….3 years dangit boy…time to work on that O line now Jason and draft Audric Estime to give White a break here and there in the run game.

Congrats Baker, you did it….generational wealth my man (thank you Glazers and Jason) and this will pay off BIG time for all involved. Smart move and the right move…lets GO!

  77. Buddha Says:

Maholmes is the only elite QB in the NFL Nobody else is elite. Not the guy in Buffalo or in Dallas or in Philly or San Diego or San Fran or Cincy or Balt. Rodgers is regarded as elite but one Super Bowl in 15 years not so much. One year does not make you elite.

  78. Rod Munch Says:

    MadMax Says:
Congrats Baker, you did it….generational wealth my man…

    ———

He has made, before this deal, $55m in his career, not to mention the TV money.

I think he was set long before this deal.

  79. MadMax Says:

^ yeah, but inflation the past few years dude, lol

  80. Oneilbuc Says:

So we got 2 years just to make the playoffs hopefully the division is bad just to do that and the 10 year rebuild will begin. Wow. I think you cracked the GM code for all future negotiations! Why hadn’t all other GMs thought of this genius idea? Yesssssss! You lock down guarantees in contracts! Why pay for chance? Guarantees is the way to go, right JD?

Oh, I GUARANTEE this is sarcasm.

  82. Buc king Says:

    So honestly I’m not excited.
I’m not a believer of bakers.
I feel we’re 15million to much each year.
This was a guy looking at a first class ticket out the NFL jumping teams.
We give him shot when quite honestly from reports the competition was even for him and Trask.
Trask is officially a wasted 2nd rd pick in my eyes..
Only way he can be redeemed is of baker gets injured and he pulls a Tom Brady and never lets him back in.

Trask is not my issue I just didn’t feel baker is much better.
Maybe more mobile for a run fir a 1st down here or there.
Mainly tho I see with this wr group it’s easy to throw for 4k..
Fitzpatrick looked like God for a few games.

Baker on his last leg comes here in has a mediocre year.
Per wins vs loss record in a horrible division.

He was protective of the ball and had a poor o line and lame run game.
This I could of backed 18million and incentives.
33.3 I find it as a big reach for the bucs.
I don’t see a superbowl caliber qb and I think anything over 30mil you gotta be suggesting amazing talent.

I’m be cheering him on and my bucs he’s a buc so he has my support no matter what.
I backed freeman and Winston- they was bums….
This season coming up is a extremely tough schedule lets see what bakers got.

  83. Oneilbuc Says:

Allbuc. I’m with you bro it’s amazing how our fan base settles for mediocrey and celebrate it . We went 9-8 and these guys act like we were 11-6 or 12-5 but this is why we will never be considered as one of the best franchises in the NFL. Because you don’t have to strive for greatness with this fan base and if you do want greatness for the franchise than you are a hater or a fake bucs fan. I hope Baker plays good this year because I’m a bucs fan and he’s the quarterback. But I just don’t have any faith in Baker Mayfield when the games are on the line. Baker is not a trash quarterback but he’s not a franchise quarterback at this point of his career.

    ————————–

Nobody hates [Bowels]… but still spells his name wrong either due to stupidity or disrespect. You clearly hate him or you are stupid. His name is SIX letters and on this site to see and others multiple times a day and it is clearly spelled BOWLES…. yet you continue to spell it incorrectly just like the other haters/dimwits that talk badly about him. The dude has been fairly good and has only continued to improve. He fell into a no-win situation in 2022 and went into 2023 with another difficult task and all he has done is get us to the playoffs and win our division two straight times. No other coach in team history has won the division two years in a row. This season, the team should have better personnel than it did the last two seasons and we will see how good of a coach BOWLES is. Until then, keep on hating with the other trolls that can’t stand to see the team and Bowles do well.
