Jalen Hurts Does Not Have Major Damage To Hand

January 8th, 2024

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts.

The quarterback the Bucs expect to face a week from tonight to begin the postseason likely won’t be 100 percent. But it appears Jalen Hurts will play.

The Eagles quarterback suffered an injury to his throwing hand yesterday in a loss to the Giants. It looked gnarly. Hurts said the middle finger “popped out.” (Joe thinks many Bucs fans did the same thing watching the Tampa Bay offense yesterday.)

Per NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero, tests on Hurts’ hurt hand came back negative for a fracture. Hurts did, per Pelissero, suffer a dislocated finger.

That could make throwing against the fourth-worst pass defense in the league problematic. Yes, the Bucs improved from worst in allowing passing yards per game to fourth-worst as a result of shutting down Bryce Young yesterday.

Interesting, at least to Joe, is that half of the six-worst pass defenses in the NFL (yards per game allowed) are playoff teams.

I would rather pull off a win with Hurts at QB. No excuse. Riding the Bandwagon until it crashes and burns! Whatever happens is out of my control so ride the wave and enjoy!! Better than spewing the negativity.

There will be inflammation. Could hurt his accuracy. Yaya needs to play 90% of the snaps. Same with Vea. Much more worried Baker isn’t close to being right. If he plays like he did against Carolina, Bucs will get shut out. I feel for all the Bucs fans that will spend hard earned cash to watch this debauchery.

7/10 of the top 10 defenses that gave up the least yards are in the playoffs. Carolina, Jets and Patriots are only top ten teams not in the playoffs. Side note, how long does it take a dislocated finger to heal?

  5. Bucfan1988 Says:

PEWTER941, hopefully Hurts finger will be healed up a few days after our game on 1/15 Monday nite, haha

  6. BucU Says:

AJ Brown went out with a knee injury as well. No Davonta Smith and Brown maybe.

    F Jalen butt Hurts

Well maybe people should smarten up and talk about the rankings of offense and defense by points scored / allowed, not by yards.

Last I checked, points are what decide who wins and loses games, not how many yards someone has.

All I care about is Trask will be practicing with the first team O, and mebbe, someone will get in Canales’ face to OPEN the playbook!!

The Bucs need Ghost Barrett to finally show up, he’s been missing since week 8

If the Bucs can’t pressure Hurts its over.

@Jeff That is so sweet of you, I mean your care for the fans. You are such a great supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

For all those wishing that Bowles would be fired: Consider the records of al the first year coaches:

    Houston 10-7
    Indy 9-8
    Denver 8-9
    Arizona 4-13
    Carolina 2-15

    Only one made the playoffs:

Buccaneers and Chiefs only teams to Three peat as division champs
    Buccaneers over/under line: 6.5 Won 9 +2.5
    Buccaneers against Vegas line 11-6
Keep on rooting against the Buccaneers, just don’t wager against them.

he still wont be 100 percent

They’re running back, Swift, was a problem for us. We need to shut down the running game and make Hurts win this. With him hobbled, however, slightly, this presents a doable situation for us. Of course, we still need to score…

That’s super weird and for sure interesting lol. Looking it up 1/2 of the bottom 8 actually are in, while the Panthers/Jets are in the top 3

Going by YPA we are 8th worst at 7.5, with another 6 teams ahead of us tied at 7.3. Panthers were 6th (6.5) and Saints 10th (6.8)

    Really weird year

^ which is why ranking defenses by yards allowed is just dumb.

Instead, let’s look at passing TDs allowed:

Out of the 10 teams who have allowed the most passing touchdowns, only 3 made the playoffs, one of which is the Eagles who have been on a serious downturn.

Conversely, out of the top 10 best passing defense teams (aka the least amount of passing TDs given up): 7 out of 10 are in the playoffs.

As a speculator and conspiracy theorist I will lay my reputation on the line and say that it is entirely possible that the Bucs have been sandbagging.

My above post crossed my mind a few weeks back but I ruled it out. What a display of true genius and mastermind that would be. Given the many bizarre things happening these days, I now can’t rule it out.

  20. WillieG Says:

I’ve had broken and dislocated fingers. Given a choice, I’d take a broken finger over a dislocated one any day. I actually had to have 3x per week physical therapy for a dislocated middle finger. I never needed anything beyond a splint for a broken finger.

  21. adam from ny Says:

yeah but what’s the health like for one aj brown…???

that dude’s a beast – the offense can be very different without him in the game, or if he’s hobbled

  22. pewter941 Says:

7/10 teams best teams that gave up least yards are in playoffs, that’s gotta mean something. The other 3 teams, Carolina, Jets and Patriots dont have a qb.

  23. Ed Says:

Just watched Brian Baldy’s breakdown of the mess that the Eagles have. On defense they are not covering anyone, he showed all different angles of secondary and linebacker’s not covering and not tackling. There was a single video of any Giant running backs running the ball, just Barkley running patterns and no one covering him.

If Bowles/Canales blow this opportunity to attack the Eagles horrible pass defense then they should be canned. He was also showing how badly the Eagles were putting WR’s out and the Giants were blitzing and all the WR’s were downfield not looking for the ball.

As a fan if I can watch Brian Baldinger’s tape and he can show the public what defensive coordinators can see then I’ll be furious if Bowles/Canales do not put the ball in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin’s and Rachad White’s hands through the air. The Bucs will definitely be drafting a receiver this year, Trey Palmer has dropped balls, fumbled and had balls go right through his arms.

  24. Ed Says:

Eagles are bad against the blitz. Bucs cannot play soft zone, they have to get physical with those receivers.

If we can score more than 10 points we should be good?
