Baker Mayfield Sits Out Early In Practice

January 10th, 2024

Not practicing.

So the Bucs hit the practice fields outside of One Buc Palace today and there was a notable player who wasn’t between the white lines.
That would be Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield.

The Bucs’ starting signal-caller has been beat to hell the past two weeks suffering hurt ribs and an injured ankle. He could barely walk off the field last Sunday in Carolina.

The way Mayfield threw on Sunday, one could argue he had no business being on the field, risking himself for the playoffs. But here we are.

Joe’s good friend Rock Riley decided to hit up One Buc Palace this morning to shoot video during the 30-minute warmup session that the pen and mic club is allowed to view. Riley noticed no Mayfield throwing passes.

Of course, none of this would have mattered if the Bucs took the slimy Saints game seriously two Sundays ago. That’s what happens when a team shows up unfocused or unmotivated. If the Bucs took care of business that day, an injured quarterback like Mayfield could have had a full two weeks to heal up for the playoffs.

    GOOD!

    Now start TRASK!!!!!!! 🙂

  2. Easy The Great Says:

He needs the rest. Need Baker as close to 100% as possible

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

He needs at least one practice to show he can perform….otherwise you are depending only on his opinion of his status….the coaches need to make that decision.

  4. Tony Marks Says:

    Wolford looks good 🙂 : )

Looks like he could take a hit too

  5. realistic-optimistic Says:

Nobody is trying to tackle him in practice. He “practiced” last week and look what he did on gameday. Bowles and crew absolutely knew during the week that he couldn’t make the throws, but it didn’t matter. If Baker tells Bowles he’s starting, Bowles will say OK.

This guy held the Browns hostage for an entire season playing hurt. Don’t make the same mistakes, Bowles!

  6. Louis Friend Says:

It’s a Monday game, he can afford the extra rest day and still in get some practice time later. He absolutely needs to practice though. He’s not the kind of QB who can sit out the weak and then go be accurate and have good timing during a game. If they go that route and sit him all week before starting him against the Eagles – they’ll lose and the offense won’t be remotely competitive. Which sucks because the morons here will blame Bowles for not starting the Trash can man.

  8. WyomingJoe Says:

Predictable that Mayfield would be sitting out today and tomorrow and possibly Friday because of the Monday start. Hoping he can play but if not, that’s why you have backups.

I’d rest him clear through to Saturday. He doesn’t need more than two days as a veteran.

Realistic: Youre so predictable and moronic while continuing to spread lies about Baker. Since when does a player hold a HC and GM hostage? You’re such a smuck!

  13. Zoocomics Says:

We’re in a weird place right now. We really have nothing to lose, come on, no way we think that there is any reason we will make a deep run in the playoffs and even a beat up Eagles team will give us everything we can handle.

I’ve been itching to see the big arm 6’5″ Trask in this offense, but perhaps Wolford and his game experience and someone more familiar with this offense might give us the best chance to compete if Baker can’t go. Preseason is such a ruse, but Wolford looked really good when he took snaps during the preseason games. I dunno, Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, these are guys that at 75% are better than most at 100%, Baker is not one of those guys in my opinion. I don’t care if he wants to be a hero. Baker is a one trick pony, and when his arm goes, or his accuracy and push go because he’s too banged up, his legs will not make up the difference. Again, we have nothing to lose here, might be a surprise to the Eagles who don’t have a lot of game film on either of these QBs.

This is terrifying news for Bowles, Joe, Ira, and the Bucs media hype machine that sold us on Baker. They’re terrified of Trask playing, lighting it up, and exposing them for their gross incompetence at quarterback evaluation – if not their outright fraud in concealing the starting job promise that was made to Baker when he signed.

Look, it’s simple. No other NFL team would have given the starting job to a midget career .449 journeyman bust who was outplayed in training camp by a young second-round 6’5″ quarterback. It just doesn’t happen. Except in Bucs world.

  17. m milligan Says:

BM will be ready to go and come swashbuckling in like the Flying Dutchman.

Starting Wolford on Monday would be fantasicly EPIC!! – not for the football aspect of it but because it would validate that the Fantastic Four is a real group

SInce every trask cultist would flame on like the Human Torch.

  20. BakerFan Says:

Whatever would the Traskies ever do if they opted for Wolford. That would be Gold. BTW…. Mayfield will play, how well, we will see.

  21. bulldog Says:

I see Tony Bakie is back at his full time job trying to counter any and all criticism of his (or is it her?) crush Bakie Mayfield.

  22. Duane in Sanford Says:

He is going to play. It was always going to come down to if he plays well or not. He has many financial reasons to play hurt and well on Monday. We werent supposed to be in this position, and we have no business beating the Eagles, but here we are playing with house money. I expect the defense to stop the run this week, and Baker to take his chances against a bad secondary. LFG.

  23. bulldog Says:

This is all choreographed by the Bucs and Joe so when Bakie starts his fan bois will post comments about his moxie. LMAO.

  24. m milligan Says:

Right, let’s get to the playoff and then play a guy that hasn’t taken a snap. I don’t seem to recall all this nonsense about Trask outplaying anybody. I do however see to this day that from day 1 the whole team is behind Mayfield.

  26. Buckeyebuckchuck Says:

Time to can all the Baker sucks give Trask a chance crap. You don’t want inexperience in the playoffs. For all his faults, Baker has been there and done that, won R1, edged out R2. 33. SteveK Says:

    Dear Tony marks,

How are you? I appreciate your opinion and commenting on everyone’s post.

May I ask why you like Baker so much? He’s tough, I love that about him, but I truly believe he is an average QB.

May I ask why you crap on Trask when you can? What has he done to trigger you? All the kid does is shut up and work hard. If he got a shot, great, if not, all good.

I don’t remember you posting on here for any other season than this one. Did you join Buc fandom bc of Baker? To me, it smells that way.

And your allegiance to one player over a whole team will not be validated here. We shot down Freemanites, Winston apologists, and now “Baker Bois” (kudos to Rod Munch lol).

I hope we win on Monday,

His problem is picks but if Trask starts throwing those helium “I want to see if I can hit a bird ” arches He threw in college – that come down only in time for pick sixes in the NFL –

    you go to Wolford instantly.

  35. SteveK Says:

    Ps. Wyoming Joe,

When did you come a Bucs fan? I don’t remember your screen name on here for the past ten years like I’ve been.

You seem like a “baker boi”.

Either way, welcome you, and Tony marks to Bucs fandom! We love our team, have two super bowls and will not put up with mediocre QB play.

Tom Brady gave us a glimpse of great QB play, and we will never settle.

Dear SteveK: Have you been sleeping all season? Tony Marks commented on this site dozens of times. But who are you?

Bulldog: Trask is a poor example of someone who is 6-5 and weighs 236 pounds. I must honestly say that he looks thin and frail; almost twig-like.

If Baker can’t go, Wolford should get the call because he throws a better ball and he actually can move in the pocket and. Oh, RUN!

  40. Buc1987 Says:

What’s Baker’s average yards per game? Like 160 or so? Just curious and I don’t feel like looking it up.

  41. Dom Says:

Baker fans just project all day man. He didn’t play well vs the Panthers. Honestly, what part of that game inspired confidence in the offense? Even Tristian Wirfs called out the offenses performance over the last two games post Panthers. Baker was awful and handicapped the offense. Are we really going to sit here and act like Trask or Wolford couldn’t score 9 points and get the W when the team pitched a shutout? Baker with his injuries might be the worst QB on the roster right now. If he was healthy it would be different. Other than the Texans, Titans, Packers, and Jaguars game, can anyone point to me where he played like a franchise QB post bye week? Why is there such an arrogant defense over somone that played well in just 4 of his last 13 games? And why is there such a hatred towards a player that only played a couple snaps with the starters in his whole career? No one knows what Trask is. He’s likely a backup sure but there is no real film with the starters to judge him off of. They are all Bucs, and if Baker plays I’m pulling for him, but it’s looking like he isn’t going to be the best option this week. Eagles got a weak pass defense and its a home game. Its set up for the QB to play well and get the ball to one of the best WR duos in the league. And if it is another QB playing we should all pull for the him to help get the team the W.

  42. SteveK Says:

    M Milligan,

    Thanks for the reply!

The krewe wants to play to win, and they should play the healthy option.

  43. Buc1987 Says:

SteveK …ya know Baker’s going to want more than 15 mil right?

  44. WyomingJoe Says:

SteveK: There’s no way that you’re a Bucs fan. And, I’ve been following the Bucs since I lived in St. Pete 25 years ago. So, you can stuff your comments.

    Keep winning Baker.

  45. SteveK Says:

    Tony marks,

No baker hate here. He’s average and seems like a good teammate and person.

I just don’t want to commit franchise QB contracts for average.

I will say Trask is an unknown.

I just wanted to point out that when you and other baker Bois break out insults, name calling, and other nonsense, it makes you come across as weak minded and and “wrong” bc you are letting emotion cloud your judgement.

Baker for $4m is good, Baker for more than $15m, hells no. We can find that kind of productivity on a rookie deal- either via 2024 draft, FA, or Trask.

  46. m milligan Says:

    Steve,

Why don’t you go tell the team that and see how that works for you. LMAO

  47. SteveK Says:

    Wyoming Joe,

I’ve been on here for 10 years and Bucs fan for more than 30 years.

    I’m almost 40.

    The Bucs are my team.

May I ask you why you think Baker is the answer? I don’t see it. He’s average.

  48. m milligan Says:

And I think Mayfield made closer to 8 Miil, Rod can fill u in on all the incentives.
Funny every incentive threshold the Buc’s offered he met and collected on. Yes average QB holding back a great team.

  49. SteveK Says:

    M Milligan,

Tell the team what? That they should play to win and we expect them to deliver a home victory in January? They had a chance to deliver two weeks ago and now have another chance. This game is regime defining. The kind of game that can get your coach fired.

    Dungy was fired for less.

    Oh Tony, Tony, Tony…

I want the Bucs to win every single game. I want them to win every Super Bowl. I’m thankful for the 2 we have, and can’t wait for the next one.

The only “fake” thing is propping up a player on a pedestal over the team, and when they are average.

  58. Paratrooper Buc Says:

Baker healthy is a better scrambler than Trask. Baker can’t scramble then go with Trask or Wolford. I liked Trask at UF but I think Baker was better at scrambling considering our Oline in the beginning of the season. The Oline is better and if Baker can’t move or will go down in a single hit then have Trask or Wolford start. Yes Baker is tough but his advantage is gone if he can’t move and it’s dangerous if he can easily be hurt. Trask or Wolford need more practice and if Baker starts, I don’t think he can last the whole game.

  59. Buc1987 Says:

I think(know) sometimes Baker even plays below average.

  60. WyomingJoe Says:

SteveK: If you really are on this site often (I’m doubtful of that), then you must have read my MANY comments about Baker’s stats since he came into the League in 2018. And also take a look at highlights of him playing and tell me that he’s only average. What a joke! Don’t be rediculous.

The thing I do know is that Baker beat Trask in Training camp and that the Bucs would never had signed Baker if they thought that Trask was their guy. Trask was a reach in the 2nd round. Heck, he didn’t even suit up for games his first few years. So who are we kidding?

  61. Let ‘em bake Says:

Baker number 2 in the league in forced missed tackles ( per Matt Patricia). That means he chucks guys off him when grabbed. How many plays this year were extended because of that? A strength of baker that often goes overlooked…

That’s Joe’s reasoning. Wanting to see what a second-round quarterback can do in games with the starters is not only asinine and silly, according to Joe, it’s cultist! Joe of course would not be taking that stand if Trask played at Joe’s alma mater FSU.

  69. Buc4evr Says:

Geez, Baker is going to play. He is not going to sit this one out, too much money on the line. As far as Trask, sure I would like to see him play in a regular season game next year, but not against Philly in a playoff game. Wolford has more experience and would be my choice if Baker couldn’t play. I don’t understand the fixation on Trask. Obviously the coaching staff doesn’t think he is a starter level QB.

  70. Since76 Says:

WTH no practice. He isn’t playing well so no practice is the answer. He played he’s not hurt. There is no accountability with this coaching staff.

  71. WyomingJoe Says:

Buc1987: Glad you finally admitted that you’re part of the Trask Cult. If Baker can’t go and Wolford doesn’t show anything, I’m sure we’ll see your boi get a shot.

Btw, Trask obviously showed nothing the previous 2 years in practice. If you call Baker “below average” what does that say about Trask’s talents as a 3rd stringer for two years?

That said, if Trask gets in, I hope he does well. If he doesn’t, he may never get another chance with this team.

  72. bulldog Says:

WyomingJoe Says: “Trask obviously showed nothing the previous 2 years in practice.”

The only “fake” thing is propping up a player on a pedestal over the team, and when they are average.

    —-

    4000 plus yard
    top 7 in TDs thrown

One of the lowest TD int ratios in the league

But he’s “average” not even above average but not eiite

YOu aint fooling no one kid

Straight up hater. So pipe down and take what you get because whining you are more a Bucs fan because you posted first on a blog just marks you as precisely silly enough to own being a trask cult member.

    ———-

    Stop, breathe, believe!

Would you say Baker was “average/above average” the last two weeks? You know, the saints game was a big time statement.

I am sitting down, but not a kid. However I do feel like I’m speaking with a child now.

  79. Bucfan1988 Says:

    Buc1987, same reasoning here.

I see deficiencies, inconsistencies, & batted balls in Captain Average’s skillset every game. Bucs have no consistency in moving the football. Too many 3 & outs this year…
Yeah, Baker plays with guts & moxie, and he has some mobility, but he doesn’t pass the eye test to me. I wanted him to succeed this year, but having consistency is vital..

    Mayfield would be a TOP back-up QB….

I wanna see what Trask looks like and if he passes the eye-test and can move the offense. If he can’t then it sure as hell helps Licht & Bucs management out with looking at drafting a QB next year. It helps to answer questions…..

If I’m a Cult of Trask member, so be it……

We got spoiled w Brady, and I don’t want just average. Shoot for the stars or blow it up and start over…

Steve, yeah Tony Marks loves me for my posts…..

Even he admits he wants Trask to succeed, but not for the Bucs??? To me, that’s weird?? Why wouldn’t he want Kyle to succeed with us??? It’s not about the person, it’s about the TEAM!!

We ar enot uninformed . You are just too dumb to reaize Joe has in fact clarified his statement in IRa’s podcasts

Joe stated Kyle improved greatly but that also speaks to where Kyle was coming from

NOT that he wnt soaring past Bker but that his improvement also indicated how far back he was comign from

    Yuu lose……. AGAIN.

    definitely a traskie.

  88. SteveK Says:

That same Joe, Tony marks, would also pine for Jameis like it was sick as hell! They would also go on a podcast, “scuttlebucs”, out of Tallahassee and both dudes were cool but big time FSU honks. Which is fine to be a fan of a college team, but not when it mixes in and ruins your ability to apply equal logic to the Bucs.

The FSU honks were super loud, didn’t mean they were not super wrong!

  89. Trask Cult Leader Says:

    @ bulldog

Bless you my son. Your words are true.

  90. SteveK Says:

    Cmon Tony Marks,

    Hahahahaha!

    Baker Bois 4Lyfe!

    Hahaha!

Let’s play a quick trivia game:

Quick: who was the first pick in Tampa History?

Quick 2: which coach was asked, “what do you think of your teams execution? ‘I’m all for it’.”?

Quick 3: what player was drafted 1st overall and refused to play for us?

Quick 4: what WR made a controversial “no catch” against the Rams, and the “instant replay review” was added the following t seasons?

Quick5: what numbers are Brooks, Lynch, Sapp, and Ronde? All HoF off our glory day defense.

Do you know these answers without the google, or are you just a big ol’ poser?

  91. SteveK Says:

In embarrassed to share Buchner fandom with you, Tony marks, you’re not in it for a Buccaneer win, it has to come with certain contingencies of who plays. And I don’t care who plays, just win.

You don’t pay franchise QB money for not a franchise QB. That is my only argument and I love that me calling baker “mid” gets you fired up.

  92. Maxxedbuc Says:

    Dom, well said.

Some of y’all have to be trolling at this point start trask? But him in over baker now? For what 😂 and is this dude that writes these articles a fan of the bucs or what?

  95. SteveK Says:

    Leo,

Baker should start if *able* (healthy). If he is not healthy, and Bowles starts him, and we lose, then Balker/Bowles= bye bye!

Not at all saying play Trask, just saying play the able QB.

  96. Tony marks Says:

Even he admits he wants Trask to succeed, but not for the Bucs??? To me, that’s weird?? Why wouldn’t he want Kyle to succeed with us??? It’s not about the person, it’s about the TEAM!!

it s weird because you being a trakie don’t use your noggin

I dont ever expect Kyle to be the whirlwind elite QB yuu think he is. The prospect that 32 teams picking in the first round just missed out on this phenom is slim and none. So him being a decent QB elsewhere would in no way shape or form limit the bucs having an even better QB.

Many of YOU guys have this idea he is elite so if he goes somewhere else “oh we would have missed out on our saviour.”

Nope. so this idea my take is weird is really out of your own ingorance and day dreaming that kyle wil become some elite level game changer. As long a s he is on this team its going to be the same nonsense from the kyle cult . If he plays 6 games and the last one is decent – oh he’s coming around so needs 6 more

etc etc etc. So yeah Sports is entertianment and Traskie’s are so silly its less entertaining. So for my money. He can play elsewere becasue he is no game changer that missing out will hamper the Bucs like you poor souls swear he is.

  97. SteveK Says:

    Tony marks,

  98. SteveK Says:

TRivia challenge? Sure when we are in the same room together. What? I am supposed to trust a traskie they didn’t t google the questions they ask before hand???

  103. DBS Says:

bulldog. Once again. Under your Seattle name I told you it does not matter what Joe thinks he is not the coach and does not make the decisions who starts. I also brought up the quote from Bowles that experience and Baker being ahead in the playbook was why he was starting. 3 years you have had to change names. Get over it Son of Trask. If The coaches want him to start he will. To this point they do not.

  104. SteveK Says:

    Tony marks,

I clamor for super bowls. We have two. I also am a fan of the best buccaneers team possible.

I root for baker, but I am not fooled into thinking he’s not mid.

He’s what we got for now, and if he can win a home playoff game on Sunday I’d be interested for next year. Not long term. If another team wants him bad and wants to pay him, then so be it.

Bottom line, if a player’s contributions/skill set aren’t up to their draft status or salary cap number, then they can go. Not because I don’t like them or root for them, but bc they are replaceable.

  105. SteveK Says:

Kyle Trask is less than 10% of our salary cap, he is a fine backup and unknown at this point.

Bro, you really crack me up with your comments sometimes……

Let me get this through your thick head…….
I HAVE NO CLUE IF TRASK HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO BE ELITE!!!
    Ok, got it???

I saw his potential in preseason. He took a massive jump from what he looked like the last 2 years. Folks are saying he did the same thing at Florida. Takes him a bit to grasp concepts. It gonna fault him there. I only saw a couple of Gator games his last year when he killed it. I’m not a Gator fan….

I’m tired of watching an anemic Bucs offense 13 out of the last 17 weeks…and especially now that Baker is hurt….

Liisten to wyoming Joe and stop embarrassing yourself kid. SHow me anywhere in this thread I discussed any amount at which Baker should sign at.

You are running all over the placeyyo things not even in this thread and tiriva and who started posting on this blog first because you have been exposed as having no sense and no logic on the issues that WERE being discussed.

  108. SteveK Says:

    Bucs1988,

Spot on, again, could you imagine what we could do next year with a rookie QB deal, cap space, and the ability to make a run. It would all come crumbling down if we overpay a mid-level QB, market value money.

I guess the dollars and cents thing upsets folks?

I look at it this way = player contract vs. salary cap percentage, and is the player’s assigned value “positive” or are we “paying more for less”. No thanks.

  109. SteveK Says:

    Tony marks,

Please enlighten me how I’ve been “exposed”. I will go through later and fine my posting history in the archives to prove to you primadonna, baker Bois, ion a diehard Bucs fan.

Truth be told, you and baker Boise don’t like hearing facts, nor a dissenting opinion, and then you turn it into personal attacks. You know why? Bc your argument lacks logic, and deep down you know your are wrong.

    Good day, sir.

  110. SteveK Says:

    Tony marks,

Do you know the trivia answers, or is it just “name calling time” bc you don’t.

I can only speak for myself, but there are a lot of true Buc fans who feel the same way: Bucs first, Bucs always, and no propping up a player over the team.

  111. Bucfan1988 Says:

Steve, here’s what I’d like to see next year for offense

    – Run w Trask, draft 1st round QB (prefer Penix)
    – free agent/draft new Center cuz Hainsey is BAD!
    – upgrade left guard (Stinney as backup)
    – need RB w white
    – draft Tight End

hey kid. Put down the phone for a little bit and look around. You are not in the offices of the bucs. No one cares what you are interesed in

LOL if they were they woulld have played your beloved trask by now.

Thats what happens when Kiddies on th einternet play pretend GM too long . they start talking like they make any decisions

HILARIOUS. Now back here in the real world I can coo about Baker because somoene at One Buc actually shares my opinion of him as a QB – TOdd Bowles

SO call Baker mid and I’ll call you a hater

at the end of the day the people in charge have slected MY QB not your beloved so you lose.

  113. Tony marks Says:

    SteveK Says:
You know why? Bc your argument lacks logic, and deep down you know your are wrong.

    —-

Yawn….. the usual illogial rants of a Traskie. Deep down I know you cant do maths

    4.000 yard

ranke d top 7 in TDs
one of the lowest tds to int in the league

all facts and logic. You lose

and keep dreaming with the other tradkie about draft pics. the hghest you can get right now is position 20. in a draft so hyped for QBs good luck with your day dreams good ones are going to be left all the way down at 20.

  114. Rod Munch Says:

The way Mayfield threw on Sunday, one could argue he had no business being on the field

    ———

The issue is you could say that about may of his starts this season.

Hopefully we get to the good Baker that will occasionally show up, in particular when you play very bad pass defenses, since the Eagles are a very bad pass defense.

If Baker can do that, have the game of his life and beat the Eagles in a home playoff game, then he’ll finally start to turn around the national image of him being a bust and a failure. Go out and prove it on the big stage, in the playoffs, and he can rehab his image, make some huge money, and most importantly win the Bucs the game.

  115. SteveK Says:

    Tony.

Oh, there you go. Projecting again.

I just said Baker is not worth big money, and if he and Bowles are back I. 2024 it’s bc they win this next game.

I’ll make sure to tag you in my comments about my point of view on the Bucs. I would really appreciate it a Baker Boi could sign off on it too!

  116. SteveK Says:

Well said, as always Rod Munch. This game is everything for Baker and Bowles I believe.

  117. SteveK Says:

    1988,

You got my vote. Lennox has a quick release. There are so. Many QBs this year that we can have a chance to grab a couple different guys in the 1st. And why not? Better that route than trying to overpay a free agent who is a free agent for a reason.

  118. Tony marks Says:

    Bucfan1988 Says:
and especially now that Baker is hurt…

    ———————

Thanks so you have no point. You are just butt hurt because I don’t share your enthusiasm in Trask’s wordl beater potential

    WHy?

because many “Baker fan bois” including myself have said Trask shoudl start if Baker is injured. Exactly what you indicated above

do I buy your claim a team 9-8 had only 4 good games

Of course not. Thats nonsense disproved by the record.

  119. BakerFan Says:

People would like to see Trask run with the First team…. I am sure the coaches have and they did not like what they saw and that was just practice.

Also, how many players have stated they would like Trask to star over Mayfield, even anomalously throughout the year…. Anyone, I would like know.

If Trask or Wolford start this weekend I would like for them to cream the Filthydelphia Beagles. Wish Hurts was not condemned to this hell hole.

  120. UKBuccaneer Says:

If you want to throw a guy who’s essentially a rookie in to make his first start against the Eagles in a playoff game, you’re absolutely nuts. Seriously. Unsalvageable idiocy.

We may *have* to, if Baker can’t go, but that’s different from *wanting* to.

  121. Tony marks Says:

    Rod Munch Says:

If Baker can do that, have the game of his life and beat the Eagles in a home playoff game, then he’ll finally start to turn around the national image of him being a bust and a failure.

    —–

Mush!! weclcome . the circle would not be complete without a couple of your lie sprinkled on top.

meanwhile back in the real world many in the media are already pushing for baker as come back player of the year. turn on the national media and its the exact opposite to your most recent obvious lie

He’s considered already to have had a great season. Now that he’es injured nothing is going to change that for this game. It really quite the turn aound . even his most consistent detractors liek Herd, King and Shannon are all now touting Bkers as a QB

Truth is this is a perfect scenario for Baker. IF he plays and the bucs win you know t he natioal media will be on “grtitty player” win story line. IF the bucs lose then he’ll still get credit fo gutting it out in the loss

HE has thwarted you all seaosn long and he does so here again.

  122. SteveK Says:

    Tony Marks,

Wooo! Regular season award! Who cares. Win a playoff game. Heaven forbid a Super Bowl! Those are all that matters.

My apologies Steve. I thought we were talking abouthe NFl . tell me again about this new league whose entire games are only 15 minutes long

It sounds fascinating. do they play on 25 yard fields too? midfield at 12 yards must make kickers kings of this new league.

  132. SteveK Says:

    Tony Marks,

You must be fun at parties. I hope we can shake hands and enjoy a future Ira watch party together.

So you are just going to sweep the dogsh!t first quarter offensive scoring under the rug?

What happens if we do not score in Q1 on MNF, and the rest of the game, three 15-minute quarters, we are “behind” and the Eagles get to just run the ball? Thst would suck.

I don’t follow how you can responsibly reply to that fact with your nonsense.

    Tony Marks,

Thanks for the replies. I am learning all about your loser mentality.

Any season that does not end in a championship is a failure. Now, what degree of failure are we talking? Of course we cannot win every year, but the whole reason anyone plays a game is to “win”.

I bet if you asked any Buccaneer player, they’d say the same thing. Eyes on the prize, and that is the Lombardi Trophy.

And of course it can be “ok” to not win it all, but that should never, ever not be the sole motivation.

Then, you divert and get cute and funny. That’s been fun for today, but not made for a longstanding football discussion with meaningful content

I’ll make a deal with you, I will talk Bucs football without name calling, insulting, or acting childish. Would you want to join, or is it easy for you to “make fun” and deflect? Just so you know, when you deflect, it makes your stance hollow and laughable.

    Tony Marks,

Thanks for the replies. I am learning all about your loser mentality.

That brady was quite the bum wasn’t he. Imagine 23 years and 16 of em no ring. loooooooozer

“Any season that does not end in a championship is a failure

so he really is ten years old. apparently he think life is monopoly and you win over night withuot having to build anything – just place those plastic red hotels and green houses and awaaaay we go.

“I bet if you asked any Buccaneer player, they’d say the same thing. Eyes on the prize, and that is the Lombardi Trophy.”

Don’t bother binging the players into your mess of a stupid argument. Most of them went to college and for some strange reason didn’t think not getting the degree in freshman year was a failure.

Dude you just sound utterly dumb now. teams BUILD toward the ring and every year they get stronger with a winning record is success not failure. if your plan was to make me sorry for you so I stop tearing apart your arguments – its actually working

Well said, as always Rod Munch. This game is everything for Baker and Bowles I believe.

    ——-

The defense finished 7th in points allowed.

If the offense had a much more consistent QB that gave you ‘good’ games more than 30% of his starts, the offense would look a lot better.

I think Bowles is back for sure next year, short of the Bucs getting someone like Harbaugh.

As for Baker, I think his future here is pretty much all dependant on this game. You can’t finish the season with three duds in a row with everything on the line. But if he can play well, then he’ll come back.

Not sure why that triggers the Baker Bois. If they think he’s a franchise QB that they compare to Brady, Brees and Mahomes, they should have total faith in him performing well on the big stage, with everything on the line.

what have you been inhaling Steve. YOur entire message has been to trash qb1 of the bucs and yet you are calling that debating and defnding on behalf of your bucs. Pure cap.

  147. SteveK Says:

    No UF allegiances here.

I just want my Bucs to win a Super Bowl and I don’t care who is playing, just win. No excuses.

  148. David Says:

He’ll be fine. I’ve been screaming for them to draft Daniels most of the year, but I am all in with Mayfield now. The more I thought about it, the more I realize he has not reached a ceiling, not even close. The guy has had new offenses, new OCs, new head coaches every single year. Some better line play and let him actually stay in the system for a while, I am on board.
Got to make the money work.

  149. Tony marks Says:

    —–

We all know your game Mush , I mean the Baker side of the fan base . The trask side is clueless

In order to cover for your utter failures all through this season in projecting what baker wouldn’t do you are trying to pretend like Baker isn’t injured. Baker healthy would tear up the eagles with little doubt . Most pundits are picking the Bucs with a healthy baker

The more interesting issue is why when Trask seems likely to finally play – aren’t we hearing, like we did all season long, how trask is going to move the ball down the field and score mutiple tds with low ints etc

Instead its all about Baker and ignoring his injuries.

    hmmmmmmm

no excuses for idiocy. this team didn’t win a ring with the GOAT last year but they are expected to win it this year with a new qb in a new system, no running game to speak of and a bunch of rookies with the team saddled with cap issues?

Thats actual real idiocy. The icing of absurd on top of that is that kylie is supposed to make that super bowl ring probable? Good lord. this is why we despise Traskies.

  151. Buc1987 Says:

The Eagles lined up in a 5 man front numerous times against the Bucs in the first game.

6’6” and 350 lb Jordan Davis or Marlon Tuipulotu will line up against Robert Hainsey in the A gap. Who would you bet on?

Jalen Carter who is nicknamed Baby Rhino while at Georgia and one day Hall of Famer Fletcher Cox will go one on one against either Aaron Stinnie or Cody Mauch. Who would you bet on?

Pro Bowl edge rushers Josh Sweat or Haason Reddick will match up on Luke Goedeke. Who would you bet on?

Can Canales create a game plan that can neutralize the Eagle’s defensive front?

Focus on the bright shiny objects of skill players like Baker and Trask all you want, but this game comes down to the trenches and our offensive coordinator.

No one has been saying bench Baker all season. NO ONE. Surely if there was an actual “cult” this would be happening all season on theses boards and it just hasn’t. There is no cult….just a few peeps that want to see Trask get a shot.

Baker is likely to be still injured so I agree

Now what was your problem with that again? ah yes because i dont think Kyle is this elite savior for the team

  164. SteveK Says:

    Tony Marks,

No one said Trask to the Super Bowl?

Where you come up with this stuff!

You must have Simone Biles performing “mental gymnastics” in your brain when trying to formulate a response with no factual merit.

Lol, I am glad to see the other longtime JBF brethren call you on the nonsense.

Keep on keeping on! We have been here long before you and Wyoming Joe, and we will be here moving forward. Chances are you follow Baker in FA, good luck to you!

  165. Buc1987 Says:

Except no one has ever said Trask is some elite savior. I read these boards everyday I think I’d remember if someone said that about Trask.

  166. Jeff Says:

Baker is too selfish not to play. And Clueless Todd is too dumb to make a change at QB. This is your Tampa Bay Yuccaneers! Duh-yup!

  167. Rod Munch Says:

Tony marks – the only talking about Trask is you and your fake account you fake argue with.

Also, again, no faith in Baker … he’d be great, BUT… he’s injured… the Bucs run to much on first down… someone dropped a ball… he had the sun in his eyes (even though it’s a night game)… etc etc etc.

This is when big players step up.

Well, actually, 2 games ago when you can seal the deal and get a week off is when big players step up.

This is his last chance to show he’s more than a bust. I hope he gets it done. You, meanwhile, will be sitting there all night giving excuses for every bad play, while claiming Evans making an insane catch while tripled covered was the best throw in the history of the game. That’s how insane stalkers work.

  168. Marky Mark Says:

The injury thing is being pumped up by the Traskidiots. Baker looked good throwing the ball. Palmer and Evans dropped easy catches. Bryce was healthy and his stats were worse. The issue was familiarity. Both defenses have lots of tape. They won, we have a good kicker. Stop complaining.

  169. SteveK Says:

Baker looked bad last two games, markymark.

If we lose on MNF bc Bowles plays an injured QB, that will be the nail in his coffin here in Tampa.

  170. RGA Says:

Munch, Tony Marks is a Sooner/Baker nut hugger. There are a few here on this board, they will move to the next board wherever Mayfield ends up.

Sheeeesh you are dense. You are in a thread debating Kyle as a Qb and then you say everything is about winning a super bowl SO of course by your own claims the issue of Kye playing relates to your goal – winning a superbowl

    say what again?

There have been posts comparing Traks to steve young

there have been mutliple posts over many months all season long how the bucs need a QB that can elavate an entire team and carry them by himself to th super bowl with trask as that prosective answer

shucks there been no end of posts that state he wil tear up the league based on what he did in college

adn now you want to cpme in her and claim theres been no such thing

    Traskie please.

  174. SteveK Says:

    Kidfloflo,

Nope. Nobody is calling for Trask.

We are stating that if Baker is not healthy/able, and he starts anyway, and the eagles clobber us, then Bowles and Baker are gone.

I’d Baker is healthy he’s playing. If he comes out playing bad and looks very limited/impacted, then what the hell?

Even Drew Bledsoe came in for a playoff game when Brady took over.

  175. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    Hello SteveK!

Good to see you here as a you have been a longtime poster.

ROFL NO mush just because you and the other traskets invent multiple names to try and beef up your numbers doesn’t mean we all do. I’ve seen more new unoriginal names arguing the exact same things ever since we beat the packers.

The perfect rating on their home field was no doubt driving you to do all you coud to hold back the Baker tide 🙂

as for all the national media seeing a bust. Ypu keep that TV off and filter your internet connection down there in central florida . It will then be safe in your fake world. All I see os accolades when I turn on the national media so stay safe out there 🙂

  177. RGA Says:

Kidflo, yes I think it’s realistic to think the Trask could throw for more the 130 yards in a football game. Throwing to two elite receivers, Mayfield struggles to complete passes beyond ten yards. That’s not good football, easy to have a good QBR dumping the ball off on easier short dink and dunk throws.

These fakerbois really make you want to hate Baker in addition to his erratic play on the field. None of them have been on this site before the Bucs signed him. These guys are worse than the male cheerleaders fans are forced to watch on game day now, truly pathetic. These days it seems there are more of them up here than true Buc fans. Joes you might want to think about your traffic being affected my these nonBuc fans because they are rancid driving away your regular readers.

Now when it comes to this upcoming game Baker will not give us the best chance to win because we all saw how ineffective he was and that was against the worst team in the NFL. Nonfakerbois saw on numerous occasions how ineffective he has been against good front lines especially the Eagles. Now he has bruised ribs and taking off practice days. How’s he going to be in sync with his receivers? We all know no matter how much he is a detriment to the team Baker will start and Blowels will start him and Cornales will run the same offense he’s force feed all year long. This will be a painful game to watch and hopefully the defense will keep the team in the game

  184. maccafan Says:

Fine. If Baker is really still hurting start Trask. The question I will ask all these Trask lovers is what he has done that makes you think he is so wonderful. His regular season NFL stats in 2 years is 3-10 23 yards. Coaches watch him every day and they decided a very banged up Baker was better than Trask playing last Sunday.

  185. SteveK Says:

    Maccafan,

If baker is banged up and as limited or more so than he was against Carolina, then any healthy NFL QB would “give us a better chance” to win. He was not good and clearly banged up. I commend his toughness.
