The Hidden Gem

Truly historic play.

There was a huge-ass play tonight against the bumbling Rams that got Joe fist-pumping and taking note.

The Rams made a rare visit to the red zone early in the third quarter and had 2nd-and-goal with 1:36 remaining at the Bucs-10 yard line while holding a 10-6 lead.

And then came Nacho. Defensive tackle Rakeem Nuñez-Roches exploded up the gut of the Rams offensive line and dumped Matthew Stafford for a nine-yard loss. The Rams waved the white flag on the drive and ran up the middle on third down before kicking a field goal to take a 13-6 lead.

They would never score again.

Huge, huge play by Nacho, one that nobody’s going to be talking about but one that might have saved the Bucs’ season.

What a time for Nacho’s first sack in his 66-game Buccaneers career!

first sack? i really would have guessed 5-6 over his tenure. he’s been a good player over the years. they owned the middle tonight

Defense payed well against an atrocious offense. But hey, better than playing poorly against an atrocious offense. Bowles is a good DC. Bowles is not a good HC.

  4. Vlad The Impaler Says:

    Just for completeness:

    Fire Leftwich

  5. Beeej Says:

    Wow, Nacho needs a dentist

  6. firethecannons Says:

  7. steele Says:

    Thank you, Nacho.

Defense played lights out minus that stupid ass Kupp play…. Build off this We get Winfield back its going to be a much better defense… JTS made some plays too im happy and WHO IN THE HELLL is AVERY that lil guy made me think Barrett was back in the game lol GO BUCS………

    Ps. FIRE LEFTWICH

Watched part of the Greenbay game. How far GB, Rams and Bucks have fallen this year. LOOSER LEFTY NEEDS TO GO! The Bucs will not reach the playoffs running the ball. No risk it obviously has meant no bisquit. At 4/5 the current offensive game plan is obviously not working. Management needs to grow some balls asap.

  10. George Says:

Great job Nacho. Defense was solid except for the Cupp incidents

  11. ModHairKen Says:

Stafford called him dog abuser, and he went nuts.

  12. AmauryGuzman Says:

Leftwich sucks but man our run game compared to last year is striking. They stink at running it. This is where gronk would have helped with his blocking.

  13. Goatfarmer Says:

The punter earned his pay today.

  14. steele Says:

This is the game that I cared about most. Revenge. Wash the bitter taste out from all these months remembering that playoff loss that shouldn’t have been a loss.
Ugly but I’ll take it. Please join me in screaming: F THE RAMS!!!!

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Would have been Vita’s sack if he was in better shape and played more downs.

  16. Goatfarmer Says:

And while Scotty had The Drop In The Endzone, he played a good game. Was clutch on the final drive, the Rams DBs were scared of him and he took advantage.

Mike and Chris had bad games. Perriman was useless and had a horrible drop.

    Fire Leftwurst, I agree.

  17. steele Says:

Let’s enjoy the hell out of this win, but….get ready for the Seahawks.

They are extremely dangerous and on a big roll. They blew up the team for the most part, and this was supposed to be suckage forfeit season, setting them up for a top draft pick. Instead, they are playing lights out and beating everyone.

  18. Dooley Says:

Vita Vea doesn’t shoot gaps as quickly as Nacho does, so there’s the “woulda” lol

  19. Ed Says:

The only change was the defense wasn’t loading. They were much more physical than in the 3 game loosing streak.

The offense on the other side was disorganized and again the Rams knew how to stop it. The scripted first down play calling is disgraceful. As a paid Bucs employee they need to have Bruce be the OC in the booth and let Christiansen work the sidelines.

Leftwich isn’t capable of changing the game plans. His players are totally out of focus. It’s an offense that struggles to do anything except field goals.

This should be Byron’s last game. He shouldn’t be on the plane to Germany.

Scoring less than 15 points a game is unacceptable in this era of football. No excuses, in order to regroup the person most responsible for the horrific offense must be held accountable and replaced.

    It cannot be worse.

Then it is fitting that today is National Nachos Day!!! Really, I’m not making this up…

  21. Goatfarmer Says:

Someone should tell the Brain Dead Boob that the game is at RayJay so he missed the flight to Munich. What a disgrace.

  22. Anonymous Says:

Honestly, the Bucs look anemic! During the off-season the upper mgmt did nothing to replace retiring Marpet& Gronk! Those were huge losses! I agree Leftwich looks lost,& If they would let Brady call the Plays then they be winning more games!!

I cringe at all the “fire BL” comments. Are we a rich enough franchise that we’ve been blessed with great coaches all through our existence? We have been down the coaching carousel. It’s not greener on the other side.

Who is coming in to magically fix our personnel issues? We have injuries, new players, a change in HC, players distracted, etc. Teams struggle to put out 1 new guy on the OL where the entire line gels; we’ve got 3 new guys. This is the root cause of our offensive problems. Not coaching. If it’s not an offensive guy getting injured damn near every single game, it’s a defensive player. We have zero continuity with the starters.

The great thing about today’s game plan was the ability to adapt on offense. I liked the more aggressive up tempo 2-minute style offense. If BL can continue to do this, then this team has a chance to win every week – ugly as it may be.

    Fire Leftwurst.

  26. FortMyersDave Says:

Great play. If the Bucs had a winning record I would say that reminded me of Dungy ball circa 1999 but with the Bucs at 4-5 it was also like a rare good play in one of those low scoring wins Ray Perkins would get over someone like the Packers, Lions or Rams back in the late 1980s and the best thing on the Monday sports page was how Tom McEwan was going to spin the rare win in his Hey Tom! column.

  27. FortMyersDave Says:

Oh yeah, fire Leftwurst. USF is looking for new coaching, maybe he can drop his resume off on Fowler Ave on Monday.

When they win it’s all Brady ( and don’t forget lil Scotty)…. When they lose it’s all on BL! You know what? I agree BL is doing a lousy job calling the same plays that worked when the offensive line created holes for Fornette and protected Brady and the receivers held on to Balls, and Brady didn’t rush throws and refuse to scramble because he is terrified of getting hurt. Fact is you win as a team and lose as a team. No great white hope does it all by himself

  31. Buccos Says:

I’ve got to say Leverett played one hell of a game because Aaron Donald was held in check. He is much better than the rookie. I’m not sure why the coaching staff didn’t recognize this sooner. You can just look at them and Leverett looks like an NFL guard. Fire Leftwich but after the season ends

You gotta love Nacho, what a great backup. Would not be a starter in the league but awesome person to rotate through !
BTW, who else thinks Nacho looks like a cross dresser in his street clothes. Check out bucs site for travel pics, as Tyler would say “dude looks like a lady”. No insult Nacho, just could see you in a hanging at a tr@nny site on weekends. We are ok with that, youre a good buc.
