Mike Evans: Jameis Winston And Tom Brady Are Similar, But Mike Glennon…

February 1st, 2021

Thumb-breaker.

If you are like Joe, you have gone through untold bottles of Crown Royal, cases of Big Storm beer and therapy sessions which cost a fortune to try to purge the Lovie Smith era from your brain’s hard drive.

Still, the memories haunt. For example, poor Mike Evans was baptized into the NFL with career loser Stewart McClown and Mike Glennon as his quarterbacks.

Lawd!

Lovie benched Glennon three times in two seasons likely because he was a holdover from the commander Greg Schiano era.

Anyway, this morning in his media session during Super Bowl Opening Night daytime edition, Evans was asked what the difference is between catching passes from from Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston and park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady .

Apparently expecting Evans to bark at such a question, the person asking quickly stated Chris Godwin had answered the same question.

Evans’ lit up with that big smile of his and almost in a chuckle, asked what Godwin had said. “Chris said Jameis was a gunslinger where Tom is more balanced.”

Evans pondered the question and the interviewer explained he just wanted to know what kind of spin both quarterbacks put on the ball or if their passes wobbled, or anything technical.

Most quarterbacks in the NFL are alike in that respect, Evans said, noting Brady and Jameis are “very similar” with good spirals and knowng when to use touch.

Glennon, however, was different. Per Evans, Glennon was rifling fastballs to receivers. And it hurt to catch them.

“Mike Glennon, one of my older quarterbacks, I could tell the difference when he threw the ball,” Evans said. “Mike Glennon threw it super-hard. Like your thumbs are about to break.”

Perhaps that is why, after signing a ridiculous contract with the Bears in 2017 (good for Glennon that he robbed the Bears blind), Glennon has bounced around the league like an older version of Josh Rosen.

Maybe Glennon never learned from his first NFL offensive coordinator, Mike Sullivan, how to properly throw a pass in the NFL. And then the fastball habit has been impossible to shake?

    Didn’t Brady break Godwin’s finger?

    Didn’t Brady break Godwin’s finger?

Thought it was how Godwin landed?

  3. ComaDoof Says:

Godwin broke finger doing a cartwheel in celebration after the TD

At this point Jameis is a form of ptsd for you guys or Münchausen syndrome . Lol . Sheesh. It’s comical.

a lot of Jameis trashing , all the Jameis defenders seem to have left or moved on from that debate.

  6. FirstTimePoster Says:

Glennon throws the ball like Doug Williams did, like he was trying to throw through somebody.

Godwin broke his finger after a TD catch and awkwardly fell on it. He wasn’t doing a celebratory cartwheel. Where do you guys come up with these stories?

  8. 1sparkybuc Says:

Doug Williams threw the ball like he dared receivers to catch it. That’s why he never got close to 50% completions in his entire career with the Bucs..

Lord almighty, seeing that Winston moniker makes me want to barf.

I still think Mike Glennon got a raw deal while he was here – very little effort given to coach him up, and he was benched (while playing well) to put McCown back in there to tank for a chance at drafting Jameis Winston (*oops).

Had we traded away that 2015 #1 overall – we might have not simply spun our wheels for 4+ seasons. Plenty of Draft capital would have been available to really improve the remainder of our team.

Maybe CrakerBall, but that’s a BIG maybe when by NOT trading away the pick, we got to see the GM build an incredibly powerful offense team, piece by piece, just in time for the GOAT to become a free agent, sign with the Bucs and take us to the SB in HIS FIRST YEAR HERE!

So GM Licht, thank you for drafting JW and LETS GO BUCS!

Americas QB still has his respect I see. Brady doing his thaaang for sure. I still would love to see Winston come back and be backup for Brady next year. Hes been gone a year now and he clearly would not be the man with Brady here. He could continue to grow and get healthier as well. Guy was movin his feet pretty good on that TD against us too.

  13. All lives matter Says:

I would rather slam 1st round pick Winston for his poor performances than sling arrows at poor 3rd round pick Glennon, who never really ever got a shot in TB.

  14. Oneilbucs Says:

All lives matter I bet you would because of the color !!! You Trump supporters are a joke lol lol !!! Jamies was ask to win without a running game and bad defense .
