“I Think We Are The No. 1 Defense In The World”

February 9th, 2021

The best interviews are when emotions are still raw and such was the case for Bucs linebacker Devin White after the Bucs captured their second Super Bowl win Sunday.

White, who is always a live wire, was really wound up when interviewed by Jim Miller on SiriusXM NFL Radio after the game. White was still on the field after the trophy presentation celebration.

Joe referred to this interview yesterday but here is the full clip courtesy of SiriusXM NFL Radio.

In the interview, White told Miller that holding the best offense in the world out of the end zone on offense (the Chiefs mustered but three field goals) means the Bucs defense is the best in the world on top of the Bucs being Super Bowl champs.

How did the Bucs win, White was asked? Better players, White answered.

Gravediggers.

You can hear it all below.

  4. Logan Says:

Gravediggers is the most badass name we could give this defense. Well said Devin, well said.

  5. Mike C Says:

    Grave Diggers Baby!!!!

  6. JWAUSA Says:

This Bucs Team was certainly the Number One Defense Globally, considering the way they played on February 7th… Someone said Patrick Mahomes looked like an Undrafted Free Agent QB…

  7. HeyItsAdam Says:

I don’t know if people are afraid to say it, but I’ll say it:

That was the greatest Defensive performance in a Super Bowl ever. Whistle to Whistle.

    Better than the 85 Bears.
    Better than the 00 Ravens.
    Better than the 03 Bucs.

Show me another Defense that shut down an offense of the caliber of KC in a Super Bowl to the EXTENT the Bucs shut down the Chiefs.

The. Greatest. Performance. EVER. Period. Full Stop.

  8. m0j0 Says:

I love D. White! We strapped up!

  9. Robert Says:

They balled out, no doubt…….but the chief o-line was on one leg and their penalties killed their offense.

hope the D does not get too cocky

  10. Rico 210 Says:

    Gravediggers
That’s an insane nickname. I love these Bucs. Thanks for a great season
World Champions… felt good to type that

  11. Beeej Says:

Thankfully we don’t play them next year.

We DO play the Patriots tho

  12. Rico 210 Says:

@Robert man that doesn’t matter. Things happen. He statement should be filled cockiness and bravado. As a fan I know I am right about now

^^^Bro the 03 defense did almost EVERY game what the 2021 defense did in just 1 game.

03 Defense was the best ever and as much as I love the 2021 defense they aren’t even close.

  18. AKicknTheBucNuts Says:

    Gravediggers.

    I’m in.

Where do I buy the merchandise?

  19. SKBucsfan Says:

The D has a few jobs this off-season. One, enjoy the win, Two come back physically and mentally stronger and Three convince LD to stay.

  20. unbelievable Says:

I’m definitely gonna design some GraveDiggers t-shirts…

  21. chris L Says:

i think it is fair to say now that we are glad we didnt take an edge rusher over him! destiny fulfilled!!!!

  22. Aceofaerospace Says:

When you say Steel Curtain, everyone still knows what you’re talking about 40 years later. Grave Diggers needs to be that common. It’s up to the Bucs to make that happen. The Grave Digger Defense. I like that. No! I love that!

  23. Aceofaerospace Says:

Unbelievable, I can already see your T-shirt. Devin White holding up a shovel with his foot on the spade in front of a tombstone reading KC REPEAT RIP 2/7/21.

  24. Aceofaerospace Says:

Or. Hear lies Tyreek Hill’s Super Bowl LV STATS RIP-out Mother Fauker.

  25. SB : Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

The only Touchdown KC had was when the plane landed on Saturday

  26. adam from ny Says:

gotta get that gravediggers merchandise out there asap…

the gang holding shovels and clutching footballs with tombstones behind them…

get on it bucs art department

  27. Lokog Says:

    Reminds me of hardware

  28. David Says:

    DIGGLER-
He wasn’t talking about an entire season. Obviously this defense was inconsistent some this year. He said Super Bowl performance.

    He’s wrong though 😂

    Best SB defenses-

2000 Ravens D: 152 total yards allowed, four interceptions, zero offensive TD allowed, 0 points.

1985 Bears:123 total yards allowed, four fumble recoveries, two interceptions, seven sacks, 10 points.

1974 Steelers: 119 total yards allowed, one safety, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, 6 points.

There were others, like the Cowboys vs the Bills, the Buccaneers vs Raiders (3 defensive TDs!), Raiders vs redskins, and Patriots vs the greatest show on turf … But The three I listed seem to be the most impressive. Although the Cowboys route of the Bills when they met the first time – I think they had something like 8-9 turnovers!

Basically there has been a lot of awesome defensive performances. It seems like everyone nowadays is so quickly to label somethings “the greatest ever!” when they tend to ignore history.

  29. David Says:

Grave Diggers can catch on if they keep it up. If they can bring their players back and add in the draft, this team could be historic next year.
The DBs are getting better and better.
The D line all year with VV could be phenomenal.
Devon White roaming the middle with LVD.

On top of that, a whole off-season for the offense to get better and better… I’m enjoying the Super Bowl win but I am so pumped for next year!

  30. orlbucfan Says:

Devin White #45 is showing off how well he’s coached. His player/coach is none other than #54, Lavonte David. Guess having the same uniform # is good mojo.

  31. cmurda Says:

Why waste time. Sign Devin to a 15 year contract.

  32. firethecannons Says:

Agree with Devin White we have the best defense, if offense didn’t have Gronk we still had Evans, Godwin and others to get the job done

  33. Brandon Says:

This should forever be a thing. ✌

  34. sauron's eye Says:

I think it starts at the top with Todd Bowles. KC had 4 horsemen, Mahomes. Hill, Kelce and Helaire. Todd said I’m taking away Hill and Kelce. I’m pressuring Mahomes all day. Beat me with runs and screens and second tier receivers. KC didn’t even try. They blew it. See you next year.

  35. Onetrickpony Says:

    Gravediggers, love it.
I was critical of Bowels in some games this year for not adjusting.
    My apologies Mr Bowels.
    The defence played excellent defense
    Thank you

  36. HeyItsAdam Says:

    Dear David,

I would not compare the 00 Giants WITH KERRY COLLINS to the 20 Chiefs. Notice I said “Show me another Defense that shut down an offense of the caliber of KC.” Same goes for the 85 Patriots.

I qualified my statement very carefully.
