“His Confidence Was Shot”

December 25th, 2020

Joe wrote a lot in the spring and summer of 2019 that there was an over-the-top but unstated effort at One Buc Palace to jack up the confidence of running back Ronald Jones.

Well, a new level of confirmation was delivered this week by Bucco Bruce Arians himself.

Arians spoke about the growth of RoJo on SiriusXM NFL Radio and got extra candid. Referencing what he found in RoJo when he got to Tampa, Arians said, “His confidence was shot.”

Arians emphasized that RoJo was 21 years old, not yet adjusted to the NFL and was coming off a rough rookie season when the new regime arrived. From an Xs and Os perspective, Arians said the new RoJo has “confidence in seeing the blocking schemes” and has blossomed into a player that plays confidently. Arians also praised running backs coach Todd McNair’ for connecting with RoJo quickly.

Joe really hopes RoJo returns from his busted finger next week. He might need that season finale to shake off rust and bolster his confidence, not just with the healing finger but also in general.

Various comments Arians made this season about RoJo lead Joe to believe there’s still a feeling at One Buc Palace that RoJo’s confidence is a fragile entity.

Worried about RoJo being on the COVID reserve list? Don’t be.

He’s a totally new man/player. Admittedly…I had given up on him…boy was I wrong. Getting out from under The Koetter and no doubt hitting the squat rack has paid off…good job outta RoJo.

    Go rojo go

  3. Clean House Says:

Koetter terrible, but merry Christmas to him

I’m sure getting pulled out of a game because he makes a mistake and putting someone in who isn’t as productive helps with that. Playing for Dirk Diggler affected him a lot as a rookie. How he comes back and he gets his 1000 yards

  5. Sport Says:

    Strong coaching indeed.

I don’t believe Rojo needs to do anything until the playoffs start. Rest him up, get the hand right and bring it in the post season.

I know one guy who never gave up, and he had a consistent quote about getting 15 carries a game… 😉

Rojo has risen to the top of our RB roster.

    Go Bucs!

    In BA I Trust!

    +1. He needs the reps.

If they ever pass the ball to him, we’re all gonna expect the worst.

We NEED this guy to play great during the playoffs, and that makes me very nervous.

I had my doubts on Rojo. He has served me some delicious crow with his performace this year.

Its everytime Ronald touches the ball. Everytime it only feels like a matter of time.

He has been a special player this year. You just want him to keep going like he is and rattle of ten more seasons just like this one. But its such a tough position and every odd goes against him.

Cherish every big play Ronald makes. It arent easy to find a RB who can give us a big year like RoJo has. Bucs fans should know that.

  8. Anonymous Says:

We all know he can run, if.he eventually earns Brady’s trust as a receiver, we all know what happens next. Can you say James White?

  9. ClodHopper Says:

Maybe his confidence was shot because he googles “joebucsfan rojo.”

KIDDING!! KIDDING!! Feeling a little ornery this morning.
