“He Seems To Be Firmly In Tom Brady’s Corner”

December 7th, 2020

“OK, Tom, you bought a new house and you bought a new boat. Now you have to get a dog. German Shepherds are cool.”

Michael Silver is known to Joe for a few things:

The veteran NFL Network reporter’s politics are akin to Maoism, he has a way cool laptop screen saver and he has excellent contacts in NFL circles.

Among them is Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

Recently on NFL Network, Silver reported he had a back-and-forth with Arians who detailed how the Bucs offense is crafted for gameday.

In short, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, jet-ski-losing, handshake-stiffing Bucs quarterback Tom Brady has his fingers all over the offense.

“This is what Bruce Arians communicated to me,” Silver began. ‘Tom Brady picks all the plays now’ — he’s talking about during the week. ‘In the huddle and at the line. We call what he picks. We just have to get better.'”

“Arians has worked with very strong and knowledgable, controlling quarterbacks before. Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger among them. He’s very comfortable with that.

“I know people are trying to kind of portray this as a disconnect between Arians and Brady. These comments that Arians made to me were not reflective of some sort of negativity toward Brady. Arians told me he’s getting more comfortable every week. ‘We are getting close.’

“He seems to be firmly in Tom Brady’s corner. He wasn’t despondent about a close loss to the Chiefs where if they got the ball back [late] they could have possibly won this game.”

Given what we know, that Brady likely dropped serious coin on a Clearwater waterfront mansion and dropped equally serious coin on a custom boat, it sure doesn’t sound like a guy itching to leave the area.

Throw in that we have not heard any Brady-connected reporter suggest there is angst between Brady and Arians, the suggestions of Arians and Brady being oil and water are a lot of hot air to Joe.

Silver seems to suspect the same thing.

“I just think, if you are Tom Brady, trust me, you’d rather have a guy who is honest and maybe comes off as a little blunt in his public comments once in a while than what you had before,” Silver said. Brady’s previous coach “where behind the scenes, your coach was not always throwing rose petals at your feet, even as you put together the most impressive 20-year stretch in the history of the National Football League.”

Unless Brady all of a sudden has his new pad up for sale or has his boat parked in the front yard with a “For Sale” sign on it, or we hear a Brady-friendly reporter start saying Brady wants out of Tampa, Joe’s not losing sleep over this subject.

I just cant believe Brady is picking the plays. It makes no sense that he would choose to throw the same stupid high risk throws Jameis did. albeit not as often and a bit better at it, but that dont seem to be Bradys style to me.

When I read this I said to myself, “I bet he dont put “giant assbag” in that list, but you kinda did, and I’m proud of that! 😀

To be honest I still hate him for the way acted about Schiano. He was very angry in his reporting and punditry on the hollering shows and you could tell he had his biases and didnt care. He had real hatred.

    There is no controversy…..

Brady failed on two game winning drives…..Bears, Rams…..and, he will be the first to blame himself…..
We desperately need better game plans….play calling…..and backs that can catch.
Taking the WR options out may help…..play action on 1st downs….

As for defense…..tighten up on the short passes….

Those two must have had a run-in at some time. There is no question Silver hated Schiano and Joe can tell you for a fact if Schiano could get away with it, he’d probably take a sledgehammer to Silver’s hands so he’d never be able to type again.

Regardless of the relationship, it comes down to wins and losses. There couldn’t be a more important game than the one coming up this week. Arians and Brady better get their heads together and implement a game plan that ensures a victory over the Vikings. Otherwise I see the team and its fans circling the drain.

Schiano was a napoleonic a-hole. He ran himself out of town. Control down to the thermostat temperature, give me a break, he was a coach for 18 year olds.

  6. cmurda Says:

Brady might be picking the plays from the Arians playbook but this is Arians offense. And it sucks. It worked 15 years ago. Now, it’s no risky the bisky because possession is 9 tenths of the game.

No doubt it HASN’T been Brady’s style. Perhaps he has chafed at being the guy who wins but is known as a dink and dunk possession QB who simply benefited big time from Belicheat’s D’s.

Perhaps he’s like the high school kid consigned to the family’s old Subaru…very, very efficient…but…dad gives him the keys to the XKE for Prom weekend. Do you suppose he might just want to MASH on the accelator.

Honestly I do not care who is responsible for the bombs away…there is enough motivation for Brady and BA but there is even more motivation to Win. I think they’ll come out after this break and have things figured out with the proper ratio of runs to possession passes that move the chains to the occasional shot down the field.

The one thing I do not like from the first 12 games. The reading of D’s on the fly by the WR and QB. If there were OBVIOUS keys perhaps…but clearly the targets and QB’s are seeing different options in the routes and that has caused some big turnovers. We have sooo much talent. Just run the route and let Brady know WITHOUT DOUBT where the ball needs to be.

Clodhopper & Joe right on about silver I am surprised he doesn’t wear a mask when he is on the NFL network doing his segments. I could see silver hollering to the NFL about chucky & the saints going without masks. Cool that brady is putting roots in this area, hope he is not involved with a certain church with a home base in Clearwater though.

Mike Silver is a straight up dingleberry. Maoist? Great mentor to fashion your style after Silver. He only killed 20 million of his own. The same way you attack our own. Snipe hunting dillweed. Ok, back to the bucs. Work in progress that they are close to figuring out. I see Tom instructing and coaching his receivers on the sidelines after flubs of routes and mixed signal mistakes. Tom has made a few, but you know he will correct it. Its arians offensive scheme. It just needs to be tweaked to include the establishment of the run game and backs who MUST not drop the ball. Do that and we make the Superbowl. Silver. Take two weeks off from giving your opinion and then quit altogether. Thank ya.

  11. Sesteprenelicus Says:

So Brady is clearly a much better quarterback than a coach.

  12. Ladleman Says:

Picking the plays and calling the plays are 2 different things. Timing of the play calling is terrible. Brady picks plays for the game plan that he likes just like a lot of QBs but he’s not calling them except for the 2 minute drill. There’s a big difference between the 2. Hot takers keep insinuating that Brady’s calling plays because it’s more drama they can stir up. Watched that interview. At no time did BA say Brady was calling plays. Not that it matters.

  13. unbelievable Says:

Who is calling the plays in the game on Sundays?

    Arians? Leftwich? Brady?

    That’s where the blame lies.

  14. D1 Says:

    @ Joe,

On Brady staying in the area,

He’s been down to IMG a few times lately, meetings revolved around the idea of expanding the TB12 brand. This includes a proposed construction of a TB12 sports training and rehabilitation facility on the IMG campus.

FYI, Gatorade did something similar with the IMG Gatorade sports science facility. Lets say its …..impressive.

Expanding the TB12 brand, according to various reps at IMG and supported by the fact that several groups of corporate decision makers from well known sports , nutritional and apparel companies have been on campus during these visits, is planned for the post Buccaneer era. All signs seem to point to Brady maintaining a residence in the area post nfl career.
