The Brady Speculation

December 7th, 2020

“Bruce, wanna go catch some fish on my new boat?”

At least for Joe, things sure got stirred up over the weekend about the future of park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, jet ski-losing, handshake-stiffing Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

The creator, curator and overall guru of Pro Football Talk, the great Mike Florio, reported that talk in league circles says Team Glazer may be more concerned with Brady returning than making the playoffs this year. Strictly for financial concerns.

There are signs that suggest Brady enjoys playing for the Bucs and living in Florida.

First, as Joe spelled out yesterday, if Brady was really irked by Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians, we would have heard something planted by Brady’s agent that he is unhappy and may retire or be traded in the offseason.

We haven’t heard anything of the sort. And it’s Pearl Harbor Day.

Now over the weekend TMZ Sports dropped an item that seems to indicate Brady has no desire to move. It was reported that Brady bought a waterfront mansion in Clearwater. He had been (is still?) living at Derek Jeter’s castle on the water at Davis Islands and babysitting Antonio Brown there, as well.

TMZ Sports reported Brady bought a boat worth “a couple million dollars” and had pictures of Brady posing with it as it was delivered to St. Petersburg on Thursday.

Per TMZ Sports:

[Brady] ordered up a custom 40-plus-foot, state-of-the-art watercraft…

Joe is just going to take a stab here and guess you don’t buy a rig worth the price of an upper-class home just so you can use it three months a year while working in a land-locked city where you are scrapping frost off your windshield in October.

To Joe, Brady buying a waterfront home and then buying a boat for some $2 million aren’t the actions of a guy who doesn’t like where he is living or who he is working for.

I would love to see the Bucs keep Brady playing as long as he can — continue to change the culture here — and then move him to the GM role after he retires ala #47

There is no better temperment to demand accountability and winning performance than Brady

  2. Roy T. Buford Says:

Just because Brady doesn’t appear to be taking steps and planning to move doesn’t mean he’s happy with the Bucs. It sure doesn’t mean all is well. He’s making $25M a year and may have trouble making that at 44 years old next year. Plus it’s a royal pain to move, especially if it’s for a year. So there is practical side. Nothing suggests Brady enjoys playing for the Bucs. It may just beat the alternative, which is likely unknown, which is another factor. Sometimes you suck it up and ride it out knowing the green pastures are 15 months away.

I don’t know that the deal is with this offense, but the issue is, for whatever reason, BA doesn’t know, and it’s his job.

Brady may stay beyond his current 2 years…..he loves the game…..he still plays at a high level….I wouldn’t be a bit surprised.

imo, the glazers are more concerned with BA returning…especially if we’re 1 and done in the playoffs…glazers wanted to keep the previous qb but let BA make the call….no way they let BA “make the call” on brady….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  8. Hawk Says:

    @ 2020 Year,,,
There was no “moderation”. You just wanted to say “beautiful women in Bikinis everywhere” three times. 🙂

  9. Hodad Says:

Maybe he’s getting ready for his next gig, team president of the Tampa Bay Bucs. Maybe Tom has thoughts of competing in football as the next Elway, Lynch. Maybe the Glazers give him a 5 year deal with full power to pick his G.M., coach. God knows he couldn’t be worse at it then the Glazers. This could be the smartest move they make.

  10. Cannon Says:

Brady isn’t going anywhere. The Bucs will be his last team. Think about it, who the hell wants to retire and move AWAY from Florida.

  11. PSL Bob Says:

Agree with Cannon. Once you get a taste of the weather and spend a few days on the water, you’re probably hooked. He sees Jimmy Johnson on Fox Sundays down in the keys in his sweet boat, wind blowing in his hair, and thinks, hey I could get used to that!

  12. stpetebucsfan Says:

I saw an “internet” article claiming that the Pats are not as good with Cam as Brady and Brady is not as good with the Bucs as with the Pats and that a reunion is imminent.

The writer game played out all the scenarios that would have to unfold…quite simple actually IF Belicheat really wanted Brady…and IF Brady wanted Belicheat.

I saw the byline was from a Boston sportswriter. DING! DING! DING!

Sad that I haven’t seen a single article about this being Dec 7th on any websites so far this morning. How soon we forget. Wasn’t it Sir Winston Churchill who said … ‘Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it’ ?

Wasn’t Winston Churchill though he may have said it. Some 19th century military figure if memory serves first said it.

There are no stories likely because there is no ceremony. Got canceled due to The Sickness. That itself is a story which is why Joe read about it. If used properly, Twitter is excellent for news.

  15. orlbucfan Says:

Somehow an anniversary about war, and more stupid war doesn’t send me. Guess I’m a weirdo, lifelong ☮️nik who follows a pro football team. Only in America.

  16. Allbuccedup Says:

I would glad to see Brady stay has long as he’s effective and maybe a coach after that. But I would love to see the bucs draft a quarterback early in the draft to learn from him while he’s playing. I see most of the other teams good or bad records with young QBs on the team. We are all in with Brady with no apparent future with the most important position in the NFL. Gabbert or Griffin is not going to cut it. That’s really the only glaring issue I have with Arians he’s not about the future just ask the Cardinals. Why haven’t they move Rosen up to the “A” Team he can’t learn from Brady instead of sitting in the stands. Griffin has thrown 4 passes in his entire career and Gabbert has thrown as many ints as tds in his career do not understand unless BA just doesn’t give a s__t about the future which probably the reason.

  17. Carlos cotulio Says:

He is not going to win nothing there , the structure is not there , the bucks are so far away from what the PATRIOTS can do , in the end he will be remembered as a six time Superbowl champion with the PATRIOTS

  18. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

orlbucfan, Pearl Harbor is symbolic of vastly more than a war. It is hard for me to even put it into words, but the events that culminated into “Pearl Harbor” and everything connected to it afterwards, changed so much about the world and especially the USA. Yes, WWII was sad and unfortunate. But much good came out of it as well. Maybe I am just a “glass half-full” guy…
