Your First Place Buccaneers, Baby!

September 28th, 2020

Go ahead, take a look. Your Bucs are all alone in first place. And it’s almost October!

Every team in the NFC South is currently a loser. Except for the Bucs. With the all-too ugly Lost Decade still fresh in Joe’s memory, this sounds like some out-of-body experience from “The Twilight Zone.”

The Stinking Panthers have a losing record. The Dixie Chicks have a losing record. The slimy Saints have a losing record.

Only your Bucs have a winning record after three weeks of the NFL season. Holy Flirkingschmidt!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s only three weeks. But the way Bucs fans have been kicked in the groin for years, and how Bucs fans were more often than not studying pass rushers and running backs and quarterbacks in the following year’s draft before September ended, Bucs fans have every right to feel giddy this morning.

Victory Monday, indeed!

Thanks to the Green Bay Packers punking the slimy Saints in the Superdome last night, the Bucs vaulted to the top of the division.

Let’s cross our fingers and hope this isn’t a too-short visit to the division’s high rise condo.

watching saints lose is almost as good as watching Bucs win!

  3. Simeon Says:

Sean Payton’s ego, leaving Michael Thomas in to run up the score against us, resulting in injury, has cost the saints two games and counting. Go Bucs.

  4. anderson Fa Gonzalez Says:

after all these years of suffering. i am so excited about this team. our defense looks legit finally, after watching These lovie smith and Mike smith’s defense that left all of us bucs fans with nightmares every night. and Tom Brady is coming along and not forcing throws unlike JW. Go Bucs

We don’t dine on that swine and drink that nasty henny!!!

I thank god we have a real man behind center that knows how to be a true leader!

THANK GOD THE CANCER IS GONE!!!

  9. adam from ny Says:

it really is enjoyable watching the saints lose…

and watch the falcons choke away another win like in the superbowl…

and watch the panthers just be the panthers

  10. adam from ny Says:

    godwin issues…

    smb issues…

    yikes!

  11. 541BucsFan Says:

I’m curious if we’re starting to see the Bucs’ identity. Their method/style of winning.

Get up early, rely on the defense, play error offense.

If they can get the run game going, it’s a solid recipe for wins.

  12. Rod Munch Says:

If you had this defense with last years offense, you’d have a hell of a team.

Hopefully Brady can get the offense to play a full game and not just one half. To be clear I think he will, probably a few more weeks, but it’s coming.

But the defense was great again today. Some issues with the middle of the field, and when they sit in a soft zone they get eaten up (so don’t do that anymore), but they dominated a bad offense, which is what they should have done.

  13. Pewter Power Says:

Would be amazing if it was a 3 game season to lock in playoffs. Looks like the NFL made up for the brutal schedule we got last year by giving us the early winnable games while Brady is working on getting timing and the system down to a science. 2 more winnable games to go before the packers come to town

  14. Buczilla Says:

I’m happy as hell with the wins, but we need to beat a good team before I let myself get too excited. As with everything pertaining to the Buccaneers, I need to see it to believe it.

  15. Broy34 Says:

Adam from ny – it’s amazing that an article about being 2-1 results in Godwin and smb injuries being quoted. That’s what you have to say about an article of pure positivity? Sad. We have week to week injuries on two players wow

  16. Swampbuc Says:

Whoever said “this year’s defense with last year’s offemse” — wrong, try again. The relentless multiple turnovers were deflating to the defemse — Saq Barrett said as much — this year’s defense wouldn’t be this year’s defense with last year’s turnover profile. And it’s only going to get better on offense. I am relieved to have Brad Johnson II at QB for the Bucs.

  17. Crockett69 Says:

Saint’s Sean Peyton is a smug fragile so I Love it

  18. ItzOK Says:

lets keep it rolling. young chargers team needs to be a win next week. bears scare me and the packers come to town. i think we will know in 3 weeks. Brady keeps getting more comfortable.

watching the saints lose was so nice but nothing was sweeter than seeing the falcons choke for the second straight week. WOW.

  19. adam from ny Says:

sean payton just has a face you love to hate…

it’s just so easy to hate on that grill 🙂

  20. Howard Cosell Says:

That biscuit is looking pretty fresh and savory right now

  21. Cainishere Says:

Winston: Completed 59 of 98 for 782 yards, with five touchdowns, four interceptions and a 1-2 record.

Brady: Completed 71 of 109 for 753 yards, with six touchdowns, three interceptions and a 2-1 record.

  22. adam from ny Says:

    what if:

the bucs aren’t showing all their cards in the second halfs of games vs these crappy teams…

so they can pull all their punches on the better teams in a few weeks…

    what if

  23. adam from ny Says:

i thought we might see some keyshaun vaughn today

  24. adam from ny Says:

geez…back to those wack all white unis next week…

i was really liking the all pewter look yesterday…

and always dig the red jersey with pewter pants combo…

the occasional white jersey with pewter pants would be a good look too…

the all white is being displayed too much this season

  25. «Delusional Intelligence» Says:

Our beloved Buccaneers are over .500 for the first time since Week 3 of the 2018 season.

    – Per John Breech from CBS @johnbreech

  26. Cainishere Says:

Well get ready because the Buccaneers are going to rip the Chargers apart and solidify in everyone’s mind that they are potentially All-time Best and the comparisons will begin. The Buccaneers will have to focus on football and trying to do everything perfectly.
    GO BUCS!!!!

  27. Joe in Michigan Says:

Just win, baby! Keeps the real Bucs fans happy, and shuts the trolls up!

  28. Cannon Says:

Feels good man. Feels damn good.

  29. Elita Vita Says:

Love that picture of B.A you used here Joe. Coach is looking cool with those”nifty”shades on.Yes sir, looking young and “nifty”….GO BUCS!!

  30. Buccan8 Says:

Don’t want to look ahead, but that looming Packers game is starting to look a lot like the 2002 game when they came to town. It’s earlier in the season, but both squads were good and it served as a chance to define who deserved to be near the top in the NFC.

  31. Bird Says:

Ndog woke up crying this morning
    LMAO

  32. Alanbucsfan Says:

Bucs should be 6-2 going into that tough November schedule. Then we’ll see if they belong with the playoff teams.

  33. orlbucfan Says:

Karma’s sure a bitch, eh, yahoo Payton? I hope your cheap head shot on Ungodly Godwin isn’t a curse on our baller. Looking forward to the home game here. Bucs defense will have plenty of games under their belt, and licking their chops. How SWEET IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Munch

“If you had this defense with last years offense, you’d have a hell of a team.”

Last years offense would turn it over and put the defense in bad spots, playing from behind and leaving them on the field way too long.

Your statement is not really accurate.

  35. Ndog Says:

Anyone that has a brain in their head can look at weeks three defense last season versus the Giants and week’s three defense this year versus Broncos and see the difference in this team, oh yeah that and last year’s quarterback was clearly the better player. That’s the difference, our defense is going to carry us a long way but our lack of mobility at the quarterback position and fearfulness is going to cost us from winning the playoffs market down put it in writing, put it in ink, the defense is going to carry us but the quarterback will cost us late in the year and in the playoffs. All of this team building, all this waiting, it all could have come together perfectly now. Unfortunately everything was done right except for one thing, and that is replacing a young, mobile, fearless quarterback with an old, feeble, scared, quarterback who won’t stay in the pocket and make the tough throws when it matters most and trust me cause it is going to matter against good teams, it is going to matter and we’ll see it all together and will all be heartbroken together because of what could have been.

Once again you all are just to blinded by the lies you chose to believe to see it yet, but you will.

  36. Jerk04 Says:

    Pup

Do you ever stop?? You show everyday what a moron you are. Your boy couldn’t even find a back up job, that’s a fact. Don’t give me you stupid lists or teams. If he could have found a starting job somewhere no matter the team he would have signed. Pats signed injury prone Newton who can barely move his shoulder and they took him over your crush.

Haul ass dude. You’re a joke

  37. 813bucboi Says:

    BL IS WORKING MAGIC!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  38. Bird Says:

    Joe

Did you and ndog room together at FSU
Just asking for a friend ?

  39. Dapostman Says:

I expect to be 3-1 after the Chargers then the real fun will start @ Chicago on a Thursday night in week 5.

  40. Bird Says:

Nsob is still laying in bed today. Another win another sob story.
Doubt he gets out of bed at all. Drapes still pulled over the window . No light getting in. Again so dark. So sad.
    Many tears

Its so painful to be in first place. It hurts so bad for this “real” bucs fan who gets it

    Meanwhile everyone else is 😃

  41. mark2001 Says:

Honestly, that game seemed to be officiated much better than ours was. NO actually got nailed for some of their transgressions. Pass Interference penalties weren’t just called on the visiting team. Maybe it was because of the disrespect our team has garnered the last few years, or maybe the officials just weren’t ready for game one. But New Orleans actually was called for penalties that they let slide in week one.

And regarding the age of Brees and Brady. Sure…Brady is a little older and his arm probably isn’t what it was…but remember…Brees had major arm surgery…Tommy John as I remember over a decade ago. So his arm might really be in more difficult shape than Brady’s.

  42. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Ndog-
Once again, you refuse to recognize that if Jameis was still here, Fournette, Gronk, Suh, JPP and Barrett would NOT be here.

  43. mark2001 Says:

Alan…great observation. It is easy to say that Jameis would have won more games with this D….but much of it wouldn’t be here if Jameis would be. Suh would have retired…and so might have Arians. And without his input, would we have drafted Wirfs and Winfield? Possibly not…I don’t know. What I do know is that this team is growing…and is definitely better on both sides of the ball, and ST’s than it was last year. I would encourage the naysayers to jump on board. It will be a rocky ride…but at least we have some real glimpses of hope.

  44. mark2001 Says:

Another thing…I don’t think we were taken seriously by good teams for many years. We would win “let down” games of good teams. But now, we are considered dangerous. If that means we get the best efforts from good teams, so be it. And if we win the games we should, that is great. At least we are in meaningful games, and are considered a meaningful game. Everyone knew we were always one play away from disaster before…not so anymore. And we don’t have a will to win of a few guys. We have a commitment to accepting nothing less, and an expectation of other teams that we are now a dangerous team.

  45. Bird Says:

    Alan and mark

Good point. Those guys would not be here With the has been at qb

Dont forget guys are in another year of comfort
And yes jpp did not start out on IR
    Guess what though?

Its the exact same defense plus one new starter who happens to be a rookie
So to say …oh its the defense and not this , that or the other

Now he is not playing like a rookie. He is balling. But he is still a rookie so this notion about defense is now this dominant force is laughable compared to last year.

  46. SmoothBayRider Says:

NDog , when and where can we square up and let the hands go ? I’ve been ask g for forever , but you never answer my question . I’m starting to think you are a scared little puuswah.

  47. Bucsfan77 Says:

Breaking news, Winston released by saints for groping a clip board.

  48. Sesteprenelicus Says:

The 2 Bucs wins were not lucky wins, so I think it’s fair to be optimistic and positive.

In fact, if the Bucs were to play that Saints game again today, they might very well win, the Bucs were clearly rusty.

  49. Bucamania Says:

Saints lost their pro bowl G last night as well. Carted off.

  50. Buc Bro Says:

Arians is now 9-10, if he can coach the penalties out of the over paid O line he might be .500 as a Bucs coach this time next week

    1000%.

Karma comes back to scumbags sooner or later.

Maybe someone will fall into Payton and break his leg again. That’d be a real shame.

  52. Mike Johnson Says:

LMAO here. Three games in and we are superbowl bound. KC and GB will be the test. beat thee guys and we got something.

  53. Sport Says:

Alan – great points. This team would be half baked with JW still on the roster. We are all in. It also explains the quick trigger on Gay. Succup has post season experience, we made the tough decision.

Just like trading out a third stringer for a hall of famer. Baller move. And we saved millions!

Maybe Lost Dog can start a Josh Rosen Fan Club.

    In BA I Trust!

  54. WyomingBucsFan Says:

I’ll take it. I predicted 19-0 but I guess Brady is actually human. Only the Chiefs and the Packers can score with us. I am very pleased with the product this year.
