Gushing Arians

What you’ll read below is more about the tone of voice shared by Bucco Bruce Arians on national radio than anything else.

Bucs fans paying attention have heard the head coach praise rookie right tackle Tristan Wirfs for only seven bad plays in his debut, followed by a very solid Week 2 game.

Wirfs is not on some sort of Quenton Nelson path to being a rookie All-Pro, but he’s playing well. Speaking to Hall of Fame GM Bill Polian on SiriusXM NFL Radio this week, Arians really gushed about Wirfs with a slow, loving tone, like a grandpa trying to explain that his grandson really is great at football and not just another nice player.

“He has made such a big difference in our running game on the right side. Yeah, I think he’s just going to get better and better, Bill,” Arians said earnestly.

So the upgrade is there at right tackle, and Rob Gronkowski is an upgrade at tight end when he’s blocking. And punishing Leonard Fournette is in the house.

Let’s run the ball!

    Kid is looking good.

    Sky is bright. Let’s go!

  3. Casual Observer Says:

Running game should gradually get better – with each game. Should be fun to watch.

  4. Cannon Says:

If you can run the ball, you will go far. Sounds cliche, but it’s absolutely true.

  5. SlyPirate541 Says:

Are we 100% sure he’s not on a rookie All Pro path?

By “path” I mean playing at an All Pro level by EOY.

With the pass rushers he sees every practice and on Sundays, he’ll be rock solid and battle tested by EOY.

  6. PSL Bob Says:

Keep running the ball effectively and Brady will have an endless array of receivers with one-on-one coverage.

Just another example of this regime not able to “coach up” or “develop” players!!!!!!!! There has only been player replacement with no player develppment!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. 813bucboi Says:

    BL IS WORKING MAGIC!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  9. 813bucboi Says:

realist is just another example of: you cant teach an old dog new tricks…

obviously, “real fans” still cant teach you real football…

so you wanted this staff to “develop” a 35year old dotson….lol…

this staff has developed wirfs and cappa along the o-line…

dirk and smitty couldnt develop mud if you gave them dirt and water…

    GO BUCS!!!!

    LOL

Come on Wirfs so far has been as advertised and then some. Quenton Nelson was a once in 2 decades level talent. I could not be more proud of how Wirfs has played.

  11. mark2001 Says:

Oh man, Realist… Wirfs is being “coached up” and developed as we speak. Please.. your observation on this one smells like a minute old stale dog dropping biscuit.

Running the ball, Pounding the rock, that is what is going to make the difference as to where we end up as a team, I love ME13 when his head is in the game and he is focused, he must take and make those short out routs frustrate the opposing team, he will get his shot down field, 4NET is THE GAME CHANGER on this team. There is no more to be said. PRINT IT…lunch time…is that curry goat ….HENNY AND HOG …get yo-self some!!!

  13. Usedtocould Says:

Realist, are you insinuating the Bucs haven’t been good at football? Very insightful.

  14. hammerhead Says:

When was the last time the Bucs were ever able to legitimately say they could “pound the rock”? 10 years, 15 years? Longer?

They have the tools to do it. I’d love to see them just close out games on the ground, just running over people.

  15. BillyBucFan Says:

Lol @ mud from dirt and water.

  16. Chris Says:

Thats what happens when you draft 1st round o linemen!
We’ve been relying on mid rounders and FAs for the past decade, you don’t find much talent that way.
We should grab the best LT we can find in the 2020 draft

  17. Issac haggins Says:

So basically you didn’t give your other QB s the needed pieces !! Ok let’s make that very very clear and let’s just be happy that now there has at least been an attempt to secure weaknesses that we all knew and a GM making 2 mil ish a year ignored !! Jason Thanks for really doing your job for the first time since you have been here ……… and there is still allot he’s just to lazy or proud to do but hey it’s more than before 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  18. Pigsueybucsfan Says:

Will there be a legit left tackle at pick number 32? GO BUCS

  19. SaskBuco Says:

Never know, keep playing and improving and I don’t think an all-pro would
Be out of the question. Way too early to tell of course, but he’s played good to very good. The sky is the limit for this guy, and he has chance to be a good pro.

  20. Buczilla Says:

Ripping on Licht has been easy, but the dude is on a roll.

  21. lambchop Says:

I like the eye black Wirfs puts on, makes him look mean. I think Juice imitated that look a bit with his eye black last game too.
