Philip Rivers’ Best Fit

February 11th, 2020

Jim Miller on Philip Rivers.

So a lot folks are trying to connect dots from Destin to Tampa thinking the Bucs quarterback to line up under center come September will be free agent and new Florida Panhandle resident Philip Rivers.

Not everyone agrees. Take Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller, the duo that co-host arguably the best NFL show on any medium. They can be heard weekday afternoons on “Movin the Chains” exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

To Joe’s surprise, Kirwan, who will live in Bucs lore for turning in the card for the Bucs to draft Bo Jackson, doesn’t think Rivers is a fit for Bucco Bruce Arians. He also scoffed how Rivers is a deep-thrower known for picks.

Miller, a former NFL quarterback for the Bears and Steelers who had a cup of coffee with Chucky and the Bucs, could see Rivers play for the Bucs. But Miller suggested if Rivers was smart, he’d go to Indianapolis instead.

And why? Well, Miller said one reason is the Colts have receivers to throw to.

You can listen to the conversation below courtesy of SiriusXM NFL Radio.

    These guys are clowns.

One guy doesn’t know who the Bucs wr’s are and the other didn’t know Bo Jackson WOULD NOT play for Culverhouse. Even after he told them don’t draft me!

  2. Coburn Says:

Did I read Miller’s take right? Last I checked Bucs have the best duo in the league

  3. Ship Thief Says:

    BwaHahahahahahahahaha!

    What insight!

    HahHHhHahaha!

    The colts receivers?!

    HahahH!

    Clowns.

    Dapostman:

Kirwan was a scout with the Bucs at the time. He was hardly in any position to try to throw his weight around. He didn’t have the muscle.

  6. PSL Bob Says:

Joe, he didn’t exactly say the Colts’ wide receivers were better than Tampa’s. He was talking overall weapons – WR, TE, RB, O-line. Overall team strengths, not just the WRs.

    [Didn’t write that. — Joe]

  7. Allbuccedup Says:

Sign Rivers for 20 mil with an option for second year. Draft Jacob Eason second round will be ready when Rivers retires.

  8. mark2001 Says:

One thing we definitely have is receivers. So why would Indy be a better place, giving them the nod for that reason? Don’t quite get that reason.

  9. Nick2 Says:

Receivers to throw to? Did Jim Miller just wake up yesterday??? Wow thats pretty uniformed. I listen to NFL XM alot and they dont mention the Bucs often and when they do its not really good. Kirwin seems to constantly knock them and I wonder if he had a bad run in Tampa who knows.

  10. Marine Buc Says:

It’s an embarrassment to Serius NFL Radio. These goons have never heard of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Perriman? Lol. This is why I don’t listen to this stuff anymore. Speculation and conjecture from two individuals who don’t have a clue or have done any real research.

  11. PSL Bob Says:

Everyone calm down. See my previous post and actually listen to the tape. He’s not just talking about WRs. He’s talking about overall team strengths, including RB (Dalvin Cook) and O-line.

  12. TSmitty3000 Says:

I keep hearing about all these weapons the Bucs have. Besides Evans and Godwin, who was dependable all 16 games? OJ is a bust. Injuries caught up to Brate. Perriman came on late, but is it a hot streak or will he be dependable all 16 games? The running backs can’t catch out the backfield and turn a 3 yard swing pass into 9 yards.

  13. Buc1987 Says:

PSL Bob…I didn’t listen, but last I checked Cook plays for Minny.

  14. mark2001 Says:

If we can keep the D together, we can draft a good young tackle, a good RB in a RB deep draft, and a developmental QB.

Never wrote that Miller said that.

  16. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

I mean he has a point, Dalvin Cook is a very good RB lmao!

  17. PSL Bob Says:

Buc1987, My bad. Marlon Mack, not Dalvin Cook, is the Colts’ RB. Sorry!

  18. Sharthappens Says:

I was hoping we would find a Mulatto. Think about it: Mahommes, Russel Wilson, D Watson, Dak, Kyler Murray, Jacoby Brissett. They all got dads athleticism but the fat white moms brains.

  19. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

“receivers to throw to” … wait, what?

Rivers is a west coast offense QB.

That is not what Arians runs.
