Jameis And The Dolphins

December 12th, 2019

Heading where?

Over at the four-letter, there is a roundtable discussion about various NFL subjects. One has to do with what will happen to Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

Of the five-person panel, all but one believe Jameis returns to the Bucs in 2020. But not all of those four are sold that the Bucs are sold that he’s The Answer.

The one differing opinion belongs to Kevin Seifert. He is convinced the Bucs can no longer stomach Jameis’ turnovers and thus he will be thrown off the pirate ship.

Interestingly, Seifert believes it will be an NFL back-to-the-future deal for Jameis as he will wash up in South Florida and potentially battle with his old teammate, Ryan Fitzpatrick, for the starting job in Miami next fall.

Kevin Seifert: Miami, to compete for the starting job. I understand the investment the Buccaneers have made in Winston and the benefits of his aggressive downfield nature. But I don’t believe that Bruce Arians, or any coach who wants to win, can tolerate a player who is leading the NFL in turnovers (28) in his fifth season. It’s an ongoing issue that is only getting worse. The Dolphins are the kind of team that might choose him for the short term rather than start a rookie.

Of course, this would be so Dolphins — to take a player a downtrodden franchise has given up on and drop him in the lap of a Bill Belicheat disciple to revive.

Yes, Bucco Bruce Arians wants to win. So what is a better option for Arians in his short shelf life with the Bucs, finding someone who can match Jameis’ production in free agency (fat chance) or hope to develop brittle Tua Tagovailoa?

If Tua can’t stay healthy playing behind the monsters on the Alabama offensive line, what makes anyone think he can stay in one piece and out of an intensive care ward playing behind what many Bucs fans consider a sieve of a front five?

  2. BrianBucs Says:

    Dear Bucs,
Make arrangements to acquire your QB of the future while you still have some devoted fans left.

  3. Loyal Buc Says:

Maybe Joe Burrow will have a bong video come out and fall to us.

  4. Tye Says:

With JW being another Blake Bottles, I don’t see him staying in he state of Florida…
Especially with all his erratic style and the Dolphins struggle with hiring a good coach…
Redskins would not surprise me.. Chargers maybe..
Belichick would not put up with lack of ball security so that is just a joke..

Rumblings from family say Tua is strongly considering staying in college another year to get the hip and give it time to mend and see how well he plays before making any long term commitment..

  5. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

It would make sense… But these round table dudes are passing around some good stuff before doing these shows… They are putting words in Arians’ mouth, saying he won’t tolerate all the picks. He knows that his offense will cause turnovers until everyone has picked it up. He also knows that once it is picked up, the sky is the limit! Look at Carson Palmer’s stats in BA’s system. I had him on my fantasy team and I almost went undefeated if it weren’t for the bye week.

The Dolphins would freaking love to get their hands on Jameis. But they can kiss Licht’s a$$. And those dudes need to share.

  6. Joe Says:

Maybe Joe Burrow will have a bong video come out and fall to us

Can’t someone doctor a video and then twitter it out about two hours before the draft starts?

  7. July Joe Says:

There’s about a .0000000000000001% chance Jameis signs with the Dolphins … much of the media is STUPID.

  8. Sport Says:

This offseason has the potential to be one of bigger circuses we’ve seen in awhile. And we’ve seen a lot of them.

All the Def Guys we need to bring back. Plus our QB.

Let the speculation begin. I think they lock him up long term and Andrew Luck is the Wild Card in the deck.

For those of you worried about Licht, you can relax, he has zero final decision making, that now belongs to BA and his staff.

    In BA I Trust!

  9. teacherman777 Says:

    He’s 25 years old!

    I graduated college at 23!

Give him a 5 year deal and we will win a Super Bowl before he’s 30.

    Cam Newton is DONE.
    Matt Ryan is DONE.
Drew Brees has 1-3 years left, MAX.

We will be sitting pretty for the next 5 years if we have Jameis Winston as our QB.

The rest of the NFC South will be looking for “franchise” QB’s and we all know that finding “franchise” QB’s is nearly impossible in the NFL!!

Half of the NFL struggles every year because of poor QB play.

Be thankful that we have a QB that is OBSESSED with winning and is OBSESSED with improving.

Jameis is the complete opposite of Josh Freeman.

Jameis is HARDWORKING while Josh Freeman was HARD-PARTYING.

  10. Adrnagy Says:

Joe is a die hard Jameis fan to be putting up articles non stop.

  11. Pete I Says:

I think we are stuck with Jameis “meaningless stats” Winston, America’s QB and Mr. Excrement and his 104 turnovers.

I think we will regret this and will be spinning our wheels but I imagine he will return for 2020. Who knows? Maybe in 5 more years he will be Jim Plunkett and finally have a whole season with above average play. It took Plunkett 10 years.

I am already resigned to average QB play, have been for a while. At this point I just shrug my shoulders and will wait and see after all he is now 27-40 and with just 13 more wins and NO losses he will be a .500 QB – can’t beat that after 6 years. (just 6 years to win 30 games!)

  12. D1 Says:

    Teacher,

    You make some excellent points.

However, I have to believe that, in Winston’s case, obsession is not the key to his success or the future success of the franchise. Perhaps intensely focused will yield more positive results. Even a dose of mildly disinterested could help.
I’m not sure. But there’s no doubt that obsessed hasn’t done anything of note.

  13. $acbuc$ Says:

Look Winston whole career has been trying to pull off come back wins. For the last four years all the passes have been completed on Hargraves and Ryan Smith go check the tape. Its like whoever got 28 on 29 on them I’m throwing to you. They tried to get SMB because he got that 26 on and it look like one of them scrubs. Ryan Smith is a hell ova special teamer. I think he one of the best but he learned that from Shep lol Al Verner helped Vernon career and Grimes off coverage hurt him. We should of just admitted that we drafted a nickel corner with the our fist pick. He was progressing right there being 200lb and not afraid to tackle backs. He tackled back far better then he covered a receiver. HG3 short space quickness made him perfect for the Rhode Role. Anyway Jameis can blame them for the 2-7 starts.

  14. Tval Says:

Now joe B is the new “flavor of the month”, huh? Lol!!! Do you guys just FOLLOW ESPN?? Lmao!! Who watches that garbage still?? I saw Jameis make 5 plays like his “heisman moment” last weekend. Burrow + THIS Bucs team = WINLESS!!! And I’m the BIGGEST joe b fan since I watched him in Athens, Oh. (Ohio u area) Jameis haters make themselves look SO stupid when trying to talk qbs. Stop while you’re behind.

  15. Defense Rules Says:

Now convinced that Jameis isn’t going anyplace, unless HE chooses to. The Bucs will keep him because with him we have a chance to go to the playoffs for these next 2 years at least, but not with a new QB learning BA’s ‘Bombs Away’ system. Controlling Jameis turnovers is the key, and that’s as much on coaching as it is on him. Plus Jameis has proven to be durable, and the Bucs like durable.

That said though, there’s an upper price that the Bucs can afford to pay for Jameis’ services and STILL compete for a playoff spot. Personally I think that upper price is a team-friendly $90 mil for 4 years. More than that and we start eating into other players’ salaries & signing less-capable players (not the way you compete for a playoff spot). Only time will tell …

  16. Anonymous Says:

Jamies 1 of 1, uh….July Joe that is, wants to get paid for his goofy plugs.

  17. Anonymous Says:

Brian Bucs has it right. Jamies Winston is one reason of many the Bucs are bleeding fans away.

Any QB for any team needs to be tough and durable. That is a big “duh.” If they aren’t, they aren’t worthy of the NFL. Before long, some of you will say they should keep Winston because he has two arms and two legs…setting yet another low bar.

  18. Defense Rules Says:

$acbuc$ … Blaming VHIII & Ryan Smith for the ‘2-7′ Bucs’ starts seems a bit ‘misguided'(?). I went back through the records and couldn’t find a single game where either VHIII or Smith threw a Pick-6. And I’ll go out on a limb & say that the Bucs having mediocre pass rushes over the years PROBABLY wasn’t VHIII’s & Smith’s fault either.

Losing is a TEAM effort, even when 1 or 2 players commit a faux pas that allows the final winning points. Strange thing is though that winning is also a TEAM effort. Bucs are FINALLY starting to figure that out.

It’s a 60-minute game for a reason … every point counts, regardless of when they’re scored. Or when they’re surrendered to the opposing team. Every drive counts. Heck, every play counts. Every penalty counts & every turnover counts … for BOTH teams. And they all play into the final game results. Bucs are finally learning how to play COMPLETE GAMES.

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If we had decent drafts and the following busts were replaced by now playing (starting) players…..who knows how good we would be.
VH3, Aguayo, ASJ, Spence, MJ Stewart, J, Evans (injured) These are recent 1st & 2nd round picks……6 players that should be starting…….gone.

Give Jameis a team!!! Watch him win.

  20. Eric Says:

Tua are people really that stupid what make anyone believe that Tua is going to step on a NFL field and be a star News Flash when you have the best players around you it is not hard to look very good!

  21. DooshLaRue Says:

But I don’t believe that Bruce Arians, or any coach who wants to win, can tolerate a player who is leading the NFL in turnovers (28) in his fifth season. It’s an ongoing issue ……..

Wow, that is a brutally honest statement that I wholeheartedly agree with.

No Rookie QB this offseason or FA QB better than Jameis .
    —————————————————————–

This line has been repeated multiple times on this blog when we debate replacing Jameis. But you have no idea if this statement is correct. Teams spend millions of dollars in researching prospects and they have really no concrete predictions.

Multiple rookies have come in the league and outperformed Jameis since he’s been drafted, but year after year this ridiculous line is posted that no rookie or FA would be better.

  24. Ndog Says:

Pete I so you like to choose which stats are meaningless and which ones aren’t? Why are all the yards and TDs meaningless but the TO aren’t? I’m so sick of people baseless arguments. You need to be called out on your crap cause you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. Try learning some football then get back to us, cause right now its like debating with a 12 year who just says the same thing over and over and over again with zero meet other than ” I said so”. Get a clue bro.

Really name them, this should be fun?

  26. BigHog Says:

^^^believe in all the silliness…FAMOUS is moving on to a 4 game win streak!!

  27. 941bucsfan Says:

Vince young had a winning record too. So does the benched mariota, tannehill made the playoffs, so did blake bortles, so did trubiski, eagles have a better record with foles than they do with wentz, mark sanchez made the playoffs, josh allen has a winning record but it aint because he is good, case keenum led the vikings to the playoffs, just stop talking about a quarterbacks record, all these qbs above are all trash and their teams have had success. How many times does blake bortles or tannehill make the playoffs if they were on the bucs? Case keenum on the bucs?? He made the playoffs, u think he wouldve been in the playoffs on this team??. Jameis leaves and we get a new qb, and when he sucks folks will start blaming mike evans lol. Get a life yall

  28. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

ANY of the aforementioned QB alternatives would cut the Bucs’ turnover numbers in half. Therefore MORE GAMES WON. And no Uber crotchgrabbing embarrassing BS.

  29. J Says:

I doubt JW listens to the national anthem in a different stadium next year.

  30. J Says:

Besides his away games of course.

  31. Dan Says:

Bucs aren’t smart enough to get rid of Winston. He’s winning meaningless games late and still tossing a ton of picks and yet all some people see is yards and TD. If you can’t keep the ball away from your opponent you will loose way more than you win. And we will do a ton of loosing when they resign him. But don’t worry the Winston lovers will just blame another player.

  32. Bucs Fan From Philly Says:

How will the Bucs improve at QB when the Dolphins have more money in free agency and a higher draft pick? Please tell me how we would get someone the Dolphins wouldn’t get first. Winston is here to stay. The

Loyal Buc that was the funniest thing I’ve seen on here in months

  34. Oneilbucs Says:

941 that’s thing that this fan base just don’t understand. It takes a team to win games. All those quarterbacks you name their teams all had a running game and a good defense which that is all you really need to win and you can get a average quarterback. Jamies is a good quarterback. We have never scored this much as a team. Ain’t no rookie quarterback is going to come in and win with no running game and no defense with a high risk type of passing offense. The only thing he will be doing is throwing the ball away if the receiver is not wide open which means we are not going to score many points. And when you have a bottom ranked defense our record will be 2-14 mark my words.

  35. Jim Says:

There are ten QBs currently playing which were drafted after Jameis and have a higher ranking.

  36. Bob in Valrico Says:

Jameis has shown improvement in the deep ball. If his thumb holds up, he will
have his best year yet. This offense is the best offense ,he could possibly play in because its suits his skillset. Still a concern are TO’s ,an area which he has not improved.
Throwing the ball high or behind the receiver on crossing routes leads to tipped balls and easy INT’s. Ball placement is key and Jameis and coaches can fix that over time.Ideally receivers should not have to leave their feet and should be able to get more YAC yards if the ball is thrown in stride.

  37. 813bucboi Says:

bucs will give JW a 2year deal 50mil guaranteed with a 3rd year option at 35mil

he’s shown enough improvement to keep but not enough to lock up long term…..

the first things the bucs have to do is sign the defensive players….SHAQ, JPP, nassib and suh….

draft OT, DE, OLB, DT, OG

the most important thing is consistency…..coaches and players….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  38. Tval Says:

@jim is perspective LOST on you?
Do you blame Jameis for not having Dalvin Cook in his backfield or Minkah in the defensive backfield?
Do you think the Bucs have drafted better than the Chiefs recently or are a better run organization than the Ravens? Ozzie Newsome is a personnel LEGEND. That’s rhetorical btw. Do you think tannehill is a coincidence? Also rhetorical. Lol!! DO YOU have ANY criticism of ANYONE in the Bucs organization ASIDE from Jameis? Is everything ALL his fault or are you a reasonable human being that sees the blunders MANY have made around him? I’m sorry but this is TOO easy.

  39. ocala Says:

If I were advising Jamies. I would tell him to highly consider moving away from this franchise and fanbase.

  40. ChanEpic Says:

“winning meaningless games” so you would rather he LOSE those same games? WTF?

  41. BucFanDuh Says:

In other news… HoF Quarterback Kurt Warner did not consider this latest Winston performance to be a top 5 mention. Although it could be because Warner’s 2 games over 450 yards passing, he has a Total of 4TD’s, 9 Turnovers(5INT’s, 4 Lost fumbles)… resulting in 2 losses. Or it could be his record against the Bucs was 1-4, 4Td’s/14INTs… including a 35-38 loss. But hes probably just spiteful that Winston could play through injuries…

  42. Bucaroni&Cheese Says:

Lol Joe that is the perfect photo for this post, bravo!

I have this weird idea where Fitzpatrick and Winston star in some low budget Miami Vice remake and I think it’d be hilarious. But in all seriousness, it would totally make sense for the Dolphins to sign him if they could. They’d get him probably cheap and he’s guaranteed for some highlights until their next rookie is ready. Best case scenario would be that he has a brain blast and becomes the star we always wanted. Which is probable because #itsabucslife

  43. Bucaroni&Cheese Says:

Actually if someone with skills could make a sweet Fitz-Jameis Vice poster to share with Joe for potential posting….that would be great

  44. VegasBuc Says:

I’ll eat more popcorn next year with Jameis as our QB. #Jameis2020 Be careful what ya wish for Winston haters, if you get what ya want, the Dilfer offense may find its way back to the Den.

  45. stpetebucsfan Says:

I agree with those who believe JW returns…IF of course HE wants to and the $$$ and contract length can be worked out.

JW has shown he can win games…and that he can lose games.
I hear all of those who believe that another year with BA and comfort in the bombs away offense COULD help JW cut down on turnovers. And he IS “Mr. Excitement”. He IS fun to watch…if you’ve consumed enough antacids to make up for all the booze required!

So I have only one request of Buc management…go ahead and get JW under contract but do NOT place all the eggs in one basket. Yeah he’ll have to be the guy if we pay the bucks…but hopefully there is a PLAN B in case he doesn’t work out.

  46. stpetebucsfan Says:

BTW…a lot of talk about the “new breed” of QB’s like Wilson..Jackson…Mahomes…the really mobile guys.

JW will never be that…Jackson has mind boggling quickness and speed and is light on his feet…JW is a plodder. But he is an effective plodder and there is more than one way to get the job done.

When we run deep routes where are the DB’s? Account for the LB’s and JW has a ten yard run free and clear…as Joe mentioned yesterday I wish we would create more plays where we move JW out of the pocket…good for JW and good for our blocking schemes.

JW CAN burn people on the run with both his arm and his legs. He may do it in slow motion…lol..but he gets er done.

  47. unbelievable Says:

Now J0e admits we have a sieve of an offensive line… lol

  48. miken Says:

Don’t have to Worry about TUA…. He ain’t brittle , he will be a star but he will be gone by pick 5.

  49. TexBuc Says:

My opinion is Tua is trash in the NFL and will be injury prone.
