Chip Off Old Block

Defending the Bucs.

While Lions coach Matt Patricia may not be the uncomfortable introvert his former master Bill Belicheat is, that doesn’t mean the influence isn’t there.

Perhaps no coach is in the history of football is as savvy as Belicheat for stopping what an opposing offense does well. And you could hear that in Patricia’s voice last week during his conference call to the Tampa Bay pen and mic club.

Joe asked Patricia, Belicheat’s former defensive coordinator in New England, if he believes Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, will sooner or later throw a pick? And is Patricia’s defense’s task to take advantage of that mistake and turn the game around?

Patricia didn’t really bite at the question but did admit he hopes to take Jameis’ big-play ability away from him.

“Certainly, I have a lot of respect for the way he plays the game and how dangerous of a quarterback he is and how quickly he can hurt you with his arm,” Patricia said of Jameis. “His athletism — he can get the ball vertically down the field extremely fast.

“For us, it’s trying to stop the things that they do extremely well.”

That last sentence, Joe could just hear Belicheat saying that.

As for last week when Breshad Perriman and Justin Watson came up huge to fill the void in Mike Evans’ injury, Patricia wasn’t surprised because he said that’s the MO of Bucco Bruce Arians.

“I think Coach Arians does a real good job of utilizing all the talent on the field,” Patricia said.

Looks like yet another unsuccessful head coach from the Belicheat tree. Lots of coaches have traded off the Belicheat/Brady combo for the better part of 20 years.

Coach Patricia is very well liked by his players, and they will play hard for him today.
Regardless, I think that even w/o Mike Evans, we still have too much firepower for them. As long as Jameis gets some time today, we should beat the Lions.

Today is a real test for Godwin. Can he step up and be the true No 1 WR we think he is without Evans opposite? Hope the coaches are smart enough to use Brate more instead of forcing to Perriman and Watson who despite a good game or two still aren’t there. Signs are encouraging though and their opportunities will be there once we settle into a rhythm with Godwin and Brate with a lil OJ on the side

The TE s should be 3 across the board and could catch 200 yards today if Bucco bruce and lefty play it right !!! Even with Evans out the lions will be playing to protect the 20 yard route and it would be a field day utilizing the 3 T end sets !! And for the love of God , Licht grab your hello s and tell Bruce you want Ro Jo to get 20 carries and be in on 85 percent of the offensive plays !! Licht you are the boss aren’t you ??? Check riding turtle Richard !!

    “Look at those eyes

The eyes are the window to your soul

This unqualified fraud had the Patriots defense ranked 31st in the NFL and
    Unbelivably became HC

Right after he left, the Patriots defense became great and ranked at the top

Unqualified Matt Pratricia is the white Byron Leftwich”
